MY 200 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS AFFECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: P41. WHILE DRIVING THIS PAST WEEKEND WITH MY WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN. THE IGNITION SWITCH CHANGED POSITIONS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WITH STEERING AND BRAKING GREATLY REDUCED. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS OCCURRED IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD WHILE DRIVING 25MPH. THANKFULLY NO OTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN WAS IN OUR PATH. THIS WAS EXTREMELY SCARY AND COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND DEADLY. I AM COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED WITH CHRYSLERS RESPONSIVENESS TO THIS ISSUE. OUR JEEP IS MY WIFE'S PRIMARY VEHICLE AND DRIVES MY CHILDREN AROUND DAILY. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS UNFIT AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER PROMISED A SOLUTION BY THE END OF THE FIRST FISCAL QUARTER WHICH IS MONTHS PAST. WHEN WILL A SOLUTION BE AVAILABLE? WHILE RETURNING TO MY HOME IN NJ FROM A TRIP TO FL, I HEARD A LOUD THUMP FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR FOLLOWED BY A NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN EXHAUST NOTE. I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION A FEW MILES AWAY AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE REAR PORTION OF THE EXHAUST WAS MISSING, FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE SEPARATION DUE TO CORROSION. THE REAR BUMPER MELTED AT THE POINT ABOVE WHERE THE EXHAUST TIP EXTENDS. OF COURSE, WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS PART EXPIRED AT 8 YRS/80K MILES. *TR

BOTH OF THE BACKSEAT PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF. THE DRIVER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS BROKEN OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE GOD FORBID AN ACCIDENT OCCURS THERE'S NO WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOORS IS TO PHYSICALLY ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. *TR

THE JEEP INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT DARK AND NON OPERATIONAL AS WELL AS THE POWER STEERING NOT WORKING. TURN SIGNALS WERE NOT WORKING AS WELL. DRIVING 45 MPH AND THIS HAPPENS IN A TURN IN THE ROAD ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR WRECK DUE TO THE POWER STEERING AND TURN SIGNALS NOT WORKING. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE HAPPENING AND THE CONSUMER HAVING THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE YET CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL THAT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX. WE WERE TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE THE JEEP WITH THE ISSUES. HOWEVER WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS AUTOMOBILE. IF WE KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE HAPPENING WE WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THE JEEP. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A REMOTE STATE ROAD AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS OF THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WENT SUDDENLY OUT. THIS PUT ME IN THE SITUATION OF DRIVING 65MPH COMPLETELY IN THE DARK. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT HITTING SOMETHING JUST BY PURE LUCK. AFTER STOPPING THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND KEPT FLICKERING THE REST OF THE WAY. A SHORT INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET SHOWED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM WITH 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. A LOOSENING CONTACT OF THE LIGHT SWITCH SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM AND JEEP DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT IT. *TR

I AM WONDERING HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE GRAND CHEROKEE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. MY CAR HAS ONLY 67000 MILES AND ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKED. THE BACK TWO ARE BEING REPLACED BECAUSE THEY NO LONGER WORK. THIS POSES A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH SINCE REAR OCCUPANTS WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT TO MERGE ON THE MIDDLE LEFT LANE MY VEHICLE ALL THE SUDDEN FLICK ON ALL THE DASHBOARDS LIGHTS - DID NOT LOOSE ANY POWER, BUT GOT MY VERY CONCERNED. 3 DAYS LATER 3/14/2015 WHILE I WAS PUTTING TO A PARKING SPACE ABOUT TO MAKE ANOTHER LEFT TURN THE STEERING LOCK AND LOST ALL POWER. LIGHTS WERE ON, BUT I HAD NO BREAKS AND NO STEERING. WHEN TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE HAD A HARD TIME STARTING. PER THE RECALLED ONLINE IT SAYS TO ADJUST SEAT AND NOT TO HAVE ANY OTHER KEYS WITH THE VEHICLE KEY. THERE WERE NO OTHER KEYS ON THIS. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THERE WAS NO INFORMATION ON THIS. *TR

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FIRST CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. AT ONE TIME I COULD ADJUST THE PASSENGER SEAT AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I SEE THAT THE 2004 MODEL HAS A RECALL, AND MINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN LATE 2004, BUT IS NOT ON THE RECALL VIN LIST. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THIS MAY MEAN THE AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL, BUT RATHER THOUGHT IT WAS JUST AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE 2005 MODEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THIS LOOKS LIKE A LONG STANDING PROBLEM WITH PREVIOUS YEARS MODELS AND OBVIOUSLY HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED IN THE 2005 MODEL.
