WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AT LEAST 8 MONTHS AGO AND NOTIFIED OUR DEALER HUMES OF WATERFORD AND HAD NO CALL BACK.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND IN MID MOTION THE CARS ENGINE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES SHUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH THAT I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY CAR AND RESTART IT WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENTS. BUT I'M TERRIFIED THE NEXT TIME WILL I WON'T BE SO LUCKY.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED OTHER TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR NEEDED TO BE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED TO GO AGAIN IN ALL INSTANCES.
THE PLASTIC TRIM PANELS ON THE TWO PASSENGER DOORS BEGAN TO CRACK MAINLY AROUND THE DOOR HANDLE BUT IN OTHER PLACES ALSO. THEY CRACKED SO BADLY THAT THE DOOR HANDLE HAD NOTHING TO HOLD ON TO AND JUST FELL OFF. THE PASSENGERS CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I DID CONTACT JEEP SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY ARE CLAIMING THIS IS NOT A DEFECT. PERHAPS ONE HANDLE FALLING OFF IS NOT A DEFECT BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS ON MULTIPLE HANDLES IN THE SAME CAR ANT TO MULTIPLE OWNERS, IT SURE SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME. OUT OF THE 4 INTERIOR DOOR PANELS, 3 OF THEM ARE BROKEN! MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE AND THE PRICE TO GET THIS FIXED IS RIDICULOUS! I'VE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL OTHER JEEP OWNERS THAT THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN THEY PERSON/PERSONS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER AND/OR BOTH REAR DOORS COULDN'T GET OUT. I DRIVE MY JEEP EVERYDAY AND THE ONLY INTERIOR DOOR KNOB THAT ISN'T BROKEN IS THE DRIVERS SIDE! I RARELY HAVE OTHERS IN MY VEHICLE, BUT YET THE OTHER 3 DOOR KNOBS ARE BROKEN?!?!?! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I'VE CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY WERE VERY RUDE ABOUT THE SITUATION.
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 50MPH AT NIGHT WHEN ALL ELECTRICAL CUT OFF INCLUDING MY HEADLIGHTS I WAS TRAVELING IN THE DARKNESS AT THAT SPEED HARDLY ABLE TO SEE THANKS TO A CAR BEHIND ME AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD. JEEP HAS BEEN STALLING WAY TOO MUCH AS WELL AS CRANKING FOR 3 SECONDS AND RUNNING AND THEN CUTTING OFF INSTANTLY THE ONLY WAY I CAN FIX THESE PROBLEMS IS UNHOOK BATTERY EVERY TIME AND WITHIN MAYBE MINUTES IT MAY OCCUR AGAIN.....THIS IS ALL DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH THE P41 RECALL IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES ON THESE JEEPS THAT I WAS SENT NOTICE ALMOST A YEAR AGO. WHAT'S THE HOLD UP ON THESE PARTS!? LET'S GET MOVING....THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING OR FEEL RELIABLE ABOUT GETTING FROM POINT A TO B. THE INSIDE OF MY RIGHT REAR DOOR CRACKED ALL THE WAY IN. TO REPLACE IT THEY QUOTED AROUND 600.00. WHICH THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR ARE CHEAP MADE. SO IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY PASSENGERS
MY SONS VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE INTO THIRD GEAR CAUSING SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN THE CAR BACK ON IT RESETS BUT THE PROBLEM CAN REOCCUR AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE TAKEN TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY RELOADED SOME SOFTWARE BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AS AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR MY JEEP IN 2014 FOR A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. THIS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS. I HAVE TRIED SINCE OCTOBER 2014 TO HAVE THIS RECALL ADDRESSED TO NO AVAIL. AT ALL TIME I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE IGNITION PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. ON APRIL 30, 2015 I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA DETAILING THE ABOVE RECALL INFORMATION. I WAS ISSUED COMPLAINT ;NUMBER 10713710 AND TOLD A LETTER WOULD BE ARRIVING WITHIN TWO WEEKS FROM NHTSA. THE LETTER NEVER ARRIVED. I VISITED MY DEALERSHIP EARLIER THIS MONTH (JULY) AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE IGNITION SWITCH. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PLANT THAT WAS MANUFACTURING THE SWITCH HAD BURNED DOWN. WHAT IS THE CORRECT ANSWER AND REASON FOR THIS DELAY. IS IT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO MAKE THE REPAIRS? WHY HASN'T NHTSA FORCED THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMMUNICATION WAS LOST TO THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE AND THE CENTURY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V438000 AND 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN). I WAS DRIVING DOWN A LOCAL FREEWAY. HAD JUST MERGED ON AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. ONCE REACHING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE FELT LIKEN IT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR. ONLY LASTED FOR A SECOND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. 1/3 MILE LATER IS HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW. HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY A TORQUE CONVERTER OR TRANSMISSION. THERE IS RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE FOR IGNITION ALSO. WHICH CHRYSLER HAS YET TO RESOLVE. HAVE THEY REALLY FIXED THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE? OR NOT? THIS VEHICLE APPARENTLY HAS CAUSED MANY PEOPLE PROBLEMS AND I MYSELF HAVE HAD TWO OF THESE EXACT JEEPS. BOTH HAVE BEEN COMPLETE CATASTROPHES. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY SCARY AND VERY UNSAFE FOR ANY DRIVER. I HAVE NO MONEY TO FIX THE PROBLEM NOR WILL THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER HELP WITH THE ISSUE. I WAS ENTERING A PARKING LOT WHEN I SAW ANOTHER CAR EXITING. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SUDDEN RAPID ACCELERATION. I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR SPED UP TO AT LEAST 60 MPH. I HIT THE CAR THAT WAS COMING OUT OF THE LOT BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP MY CAR. THE CAR THAT I HIT HIT A PARKED CAR. MY VEHICLE THEN SPED AHEAD HITTING ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP. I SPED OVER THE RAILROAD TRACKS AND MY CAR FINALLY CAME TO A STOP IN A SHOPPING CENTER. THIS WAS THE LAST EXPERIENCE WITH SUDDEN RAPID ACCELERATION IN THIS JEEP. NO ONE IN MY HOUSEHOLD HAS DRIVEN THE JEEP SINCE. MY DAUGHTER EXPERIENCED THE SAME RAPID ACCELERATION IN FEBRUARY WHILE SHE WAS PARKING. SHE WAS GOING IN REVERSE TO PARK BETWEEN TWO PARKED CARS. THE JEEP ACCELERATED SO RAPIDLY SHE HIT THE CAR PARKED BEHIND. THE PARKED CAR SHE HIT WAS TOTALED.THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER DROPPED THE CASE. IN MY CASE CHRYSLER SENT AN INSPECTOR TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER DETERMINED THAT THAT THEY WOULD NOT CHANGE THEIR PREVIOUS POSITION AND DENIED ANY MECHANICAL DEFECT. WE HAVE A CAR WE ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE. IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE MECHANICAL DEFECT CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED.
