TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HORN SWITCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS DRIVING AND TURNED ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, IT WAS FLASHING EXTREMELY FAST AND AFTER I MADE THE TURN WE NOTICED THAT SOME OF THE INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS WERE OUT. LATER THAT NIGHT AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE IGNITION A COUPLE TIMES THINGS SEEMED BACK TO NORMAL BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT SINCE THEN, BUT NOW I HAVE ALSO BEEN INFORMED THAT I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS. I CHECKED THE BRAKE LAMPS AND THEY ARE GOOD AND THE FUSES ARE GOOD TOO. I HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK OUT THE MULTI-FUNCTION HEADLIGHT SWITCH AS THAT SEEMED TO BE WHERE THE ISSUE WAS ORIGINATING AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE LEAD TO A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS AND JEEP SHOULD REPLACE THESE SWITCHES. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN DEC 2014 FROM A USED DEALER. PASSENGER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAD SMALL CRACK AS WELL AS DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. ON 2/19/15 WHILE EXITING VEHICLE, DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR HANDLE CRACKED SIGNIFICANTLY AND WAS VERY LOOSE. SINCE THEN, PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS CRACKED VERY BAD ALSO. THIS AFTERNOON 8/10/15, WHILE GETTING BACK INTO MY VEHICLE THE ENTIRE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE FELL COMPLETELY OFF AND INTO THE STREET. THIS PRESENTS A SERIOUSLY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, IF THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE CAN NOT EXIT THE CAR WITHOUT ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN THEN REACHING OUT OF CAR TO OPEN DOOR USING EXTERIOR HANDLE. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS AND MY VEHICLE FLIPS ONTO ITS PASSENGER SIDE. I CAN NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE AT ALL! UNLESS I CLIMB INTO THE BACK SEAT AND OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS. JEEP CHRSYLER NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL INTERIOR HANDLES ON THIS VEHICLE ASAP, AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 GRAND CHEROKEE, THE VEHICLE TURNED ITSELF OFF CAUSING ME TO LOSE BRAKING AND STEERING POWER. THE IGNITION RECALL IS WHAT IS GOING ON HOWEVER CHRYSLER/JEEP DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM NOR ARE THE OFFERING ANY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS. THEY ARE REFUSING A RENTAL CAR DUE TO THE ISSUE NOT BEING LIFE THREATENING. HOWEVER, HAVING A VEHICLE SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING IS VERY LIFE THREATENING TO MYSELF, PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AND INNOCENT BYSTANDERS AROUND ME ON THE ROAD. VEHICLE LOSES POWER, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND THEN SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO RECALL P41 WHICH HAS NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT THE PRESENT TIME. I FEEL MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND AM REQUESTING A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL PART BECOMES AVAILABLE. SINCE I HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS I WANT TO MAKE SURE THE PART IS AVAILABLE. MY AIRBAG ICON ON DASHBOARD USED TO FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE TRAVELING. IT IS NOW ON CONSTANTLY. I HAVE TRIED MOVING THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH TO NO AVAIL. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY AIRBAG HAS NOW BEEN DEACTIVATED.
RECALL SENT IN OCTOBER 2014 AND AS OF TODAY FEBRUARY 12,2015 THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS STILL NOT BEEN SENT OUT TO THE DEALER AND THERE IS NO FUTURE DATE EVEN DISCUSSED. IF THIS IS A DANGER AND MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IN FACT IF THE CAR IGNITION GOES OFF, IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS, THEN THIS DELAY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. *TR

THE CAR WOULD DIE AFTER BEING AT A STOP SIGN AND ACCELERATING TO PULL OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION LEAVING MY DAUGHTER WITH NO POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TO 4 TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS JEEP FROM THE FIRST OWNER. WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS TO GET THIS CORRECTED. I CALL THE LOCAL DEALER EVERY 3-4 MONTHS TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED. WITH THE FIRST INCIDENT AND MAYBE THE SECOND, THE RECALL HADN'T BEEN ISSUED. WE FIRST THOUGHT WE NEEDED TO CHANGE OUT THE SPARK PLUGS. AFTER NOT GETTING ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THERE IS NO AVAILABLE PART, WE CALLED THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL CENTER. AFTER WAITING OVER TWO HOURS TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AND ONLY GETTING THE RECORDED GREETING, WE GAVE UP. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED AT THIS POINT AS OUR YOUNGEST DAUGHTER IS USING THIS VEHICLE. WE LOVE THIS CAR BUT SAFETY COMES FIRST. AFTER READING THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY CHRYSLER REGARDING ITS DESCRIPTED "THE PROBLEM", ETHICALLY, I COULDN'T SELL THIS TO ANYONE KNOWING IT HAS A RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE ETC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I MANGED TO COAST HOME AT 15 MPH SPEED WHERE I CALL CALL THE DEALER AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TOTHE SHOP FOR REPAIR. A THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING SHORTED AND THEY REPLACED IT AT $1508.20 COST TO ME. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT MY CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT CAUSING THE ELECTRIC SEATS TO RETRACT AND ENGINE BEGIN TO SHUT DOWN. THIS REQUIRED A NEW POWER MODULE AT $1543 COST TO ME. THE RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYSLER FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM NHTSA 14V-438 HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED BY CHRYSLER SINCE SEPTEMBER 2014. I FEEL THE EARLIER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS COULD BE VERY LIKELY RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE OTHER REPAIRS, ALSO THE PLASTIC SUPPORT THAT HOLDS ALL THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES SECURE TO THE DOOR HAVE ALL BROKEN BECAUSE OF A KNOW DESIGN FAILURE CHRYSLER HAS ON THESE VEHICLES. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT AND THIS CAR IS A DANGER TO ANYONE WHO IS IN IT WHILE DRIVING. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED OR A FIRE IN THE CAR, YOU COULD NOT ESCAPE FROM CAR IN TIME TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY. IF THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT THERE SHOULD BE ONE. TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND TURNING ON THE SIGNAL FOR THE RIGHT THE HORN BEEPED. STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN FOR SEVERAL DAYS. TURN THE SIGNAL ON FOR A RIGHT TURN THE HORN BEEPED LONGER. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I USED THE SIGNAL AND IT IS ONLY ON A RIGHT TURN. SEVERAL DAYS LATER I TURNED THE LIGHTS ON IN FOG AND THE HORN SOUNDED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND WOULD NOT STOP. IT FINALLY STOPS ON ITS OWN. I PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT AND THE HORN CONTINUED TO BLOW BY ITSELF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS EVEN AFTER THE LIGHTS AND CAR WAS TURNED OFF. IT CONTINUED TO BLOW AT INTERVALS AND I HAD TO HAVE THE HORN UNHOOKED TO STOP THE BLOWING. I HAVE OWNED JEEPS FOR A VERY LONG TIME AND WOULD NEVER HAVE CONSIDERED ANY OTHER VEHICLE. I AM NOW RECONSIDERING THIS OPTION. I DO FEEL THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART SINCE IN A VERY SHORT TIME I HAVE DISCOVERED TWO OTHERS JUST BY TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO THEM. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS SUDDENLY BEGAN TO FLICKER OFF AND ON AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES DECREASED TO ZERO. I MENTIONED THIS ISSUE TO A FRIEND WHO HAD THE IDENTICAL 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND HE SAID THE KNEE/KEY ISSUES HAPPENED TO HIM "SEVERAL TIMES" BEFORE HE SOLD IT. HE IS 6'6" TALL. SECONDLY, ALL FOUR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE FALLING APART AND FAILING DUE TO BRITTLE PLASTIC. THEY BREAK WITH NO NOTICE AND WOULD PREVENT EMERGENCY EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE. WHILE IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, WITH THE IGNITION ACCIDENTALLY SHUT OFF THAT WOULD BE A PROBLEM.
