WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND YET THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS RECALL YET. MY HUSBAND'S CAR HAS SHUT OFF ON HIM ABOUT 5+ TIMES. EACH TIME HE COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT THANKFUL HE WAS SAFE. WE DON'T HAVE MONEY TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR AT THIS TIME AND YET I FEAR FOR MY HUSBAND'S SAFETY. AFTER CRANKING MY JEEP, THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD A LOUD CLICKING/TICKING SOUND. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE AIRBAG IS TRYING TO CONNECT BUT DOESN'T. IT HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE THIS SOUNDS OFF AND ON SINCE. NO SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN SINCE IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERY TIME. I DID ASK ABOUT IT WHEN GETTING MY OIL CHANGED. NO ONE COULD TELL ME ANYTHING UNLESS THEY TAKE THE DASH OUT AND I CAN'T BE THAT LONG WITHOUT A RIDE SINCE I WORK DAILY.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE WHEN MY CAR TOTALLY SHUT DOWN. HAD I NOT BEEN IN THE RIGHT LANE SO THAT I COULD COAST OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE INCIDENT SURELY WOULD HAVE ENDED TRAGICALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE, BUT NOT IN SUCH A DANGEROUS SETTING. I HAVE A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM,( P41) BUT THE NOTICE SAYS THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE THE PART NEEDED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT IF I DO NOT FEEL SAFE, I SHOULD TAKE THE CAR TO MY DEALER, HAVE HIM REPAIR IT AT MY EXPENSE, AND YOU WILL REIMBURSE ME. HOW CAN THE DEALER REPAIR THE CAR IF THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION SAYS THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE? IF THE DEALER IS ABLE TO REPAIR IT, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY SINCE THERE IS A RECALL? THIS IS NOT LOGICAL TO ME. IN THE MEANTIME, WE FEEL VERY UNEASY DRIVING THE CAR. WE NARROWLY ESCAPED ONE POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE FAILURE HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, DIRECTION (FWD-REV) WHILE TURNING, GOING STRAIGHT, UPHILL & DOWN ETC - THIS JEEP VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING SINCE THE KEY IS IN THE ON POSITION, ACCESSORIES (RADIO, WIPERS, FANS ETC) WILL REMAIN ON MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DETECT THAT THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED AND THERE IS A ZERO ENGINE POWER. IT'S NOT UNTIL YOU REALIZE YOU'VE LOST PROPULSION (PASSING OR GOING UPHILL), SLOWING DOWN, OR LOSS OF POWER ASSIST STEERING AND BREAKING, THAT YOU BEGIN TO REACT AND TRY TO RESTART THE JEEP. I FIND IT TOTALLY REPREHENSIBLE THAT AS OF YET, THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THUS KNOWN DEFECT!
