THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

IN FEBRUARY 2013, I BOUGHT 4 COPPER TIRES, COOPER DISCOVER ATR OWL 235/65/R17, DOT UT81 C8E 0411 FOR MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. FACTORY DIRECT TIRE, 22617 76TH AVE W, EDMONDS, WA 98026, SOLD THE TIRES. AROUND MIDDLE OF JUNE 2014, SOMEONE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT ALL FOUR TIRES ON MY JEEPS HAVE CRACKS ON SIDEWALLS. THE TIRES ONLY HAD 8,000 MILES ON THEM; THOSE ARE 50,000 MILES TIRES. IT SEEMS THAT MANY CONSUMERS CANNOT SEE THOSE CRACKS AND THE DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURE GET AWAY WITH THAT; IF CONSUMERS NOTICED THOSE CRACKS, AT THAT POINT, COOPER JUST OFFER THEM A PRORATED AMOUNT BASED ON TREAD WEAR. THE MORE TIRE GETS WORN, THE LESS MONEY COOPER HAD TO PAY. I BELIEVE IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS GAME AS PEOPLE LIVES IS AT THE STAKE HERE. PEOPLE DRIVE KIDS IN THOSE CARS WITHOUT OBVIOUS BUBBLE OR SEPARATION BECAUSE IT IS HARD TO SEE THOSE CRACKS ON THE SIDE OF THE TIRE. THE WAY THAT THIS TIRE IS BUILT COMPARE TO OTHER TIRES, THIS TIRE EVENTUALLY WILL HAVE THOSE CRACKS. THE BELT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE THAT INCLUDES COOPER NAME AND LOGO IS A SEPARATE RUBBER BELT BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE RUBBER ABOVE THE REAM. ON MANY TIRES THIS SIDE IS ONE SOLID PIECE, BUT NOT ON THIS PARTICULAR TIRE. IT LOOKS IT IS MANUFACTURING/ ENGINEERING DEFECT THAT BELT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE EVENTUALLY WILL START SEPARATE ITSELF DUE, FOR EXAMPLE, TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, SUCH AS VERY HOT WEATHER. THE TIRE LIKE THAT WOULD NOT PASS QUALITY CONTROL IF IT WERE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEW STANDARD FOR TIRE MANUFACTURERS. THUS, THEY FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 139, "NEW PNEUMATIC RADIAL TIRES FOR LIGHT VEHICLES." THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH COOPER TIRES, THEY ARE NOT CORRECTLY REFLECT MILEAGE THEY CLAIMING IN THE WARRANTY FOR THEIR TIRES. FOR EXAMPLE, MY MAZDA 6 HAD ARIZONIAN TIRES, WHICH WERE MANUFACTURING BY COOPERS, WHICH SUPPOSE TO LAST 65,000 MILES BUT WERE BETWEEN 3 AND 4/32 AFTER 40,000 MILES.

THE POWER LOCKS ARE SHAPED IN A WAY THAT IF YOU HAVE YOUR ARM RESTING ON IT, IT WILL PULL YOUR ARM SKIN IN AND LEAVE A WELT AND A BRUISE. I WAS RESTING MY ARM AND IT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED, PINCHING MY ARM SO HARD THAT I HAD A WELT AND BRUISE....THIS ALSO HAS HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE JEEP, I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE WHOLE DASH LIGHTING UP AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I WAS NOTIFIED BY CHRYSLER, ON 09/29/14, ABOUT A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH. AS OF TODAY, 6/26/15, THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS ISSUE, OBVIOUSLY, MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. MY DASH KEEPS LIGHTING UP AND NOW THE BRAKES ARE GIVING ME ISSUES. WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHANGED OUT, ROTORS AND CALIPERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AS WELL AS SENSORS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPROVEMENT WHICH MEANS IT IS RELATED TO THIS RECALL. IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS ROUGHLY, MY HUSBAND HAS ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED THE KEY OF OUR JEEP WHILE COMMUTING TO/FROM WORK A LF A DOZEN TIMES AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE TRAVELING OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR ON A BUSY MINNEAPOLIS FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY, IT HAS NOT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT (YET). IT HAPPENED AGAIN JUST LAST WEDNESDAY! WE DID RECEIVE AT LEAST 2 RECALL NOTICES FROM JEEP, HOWEVER, WHEN WE CALL TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT, THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED US THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS YET. I CALLED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND IT WAS THE SAME STORY. SO I CALLED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY. THEY GAVE ME THE SAME STORY AND OFFERED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OTHER THAN TIPS TO TRY TO NOT KNOCK THE KEY, WHICH WE HAVE TRIED THEM ALL ALREADY. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE!! MY HUSBAND CANNOT BE REPLACED AND I HAVE HEARD CLOSE TO 30 PEOPLE HAVE DIED AS A RESULT OF THIS P41 RECALL ALREADY. HE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER ONE! MY COMPLAINT IS THAT WHEN A CUSTOMER IS ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE, CHRYSLER IS NOT OFFERING ANYTHING TO HELP US OUT UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE. I WOULD EXPECT THAT OFFERING LOANER JEEP OR WORKING WITH US TO REPLACE THE JEEP WOULD BE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAN A LAWSUIT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY HUSBAND. 3 OUT OF THE 4 INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES IN MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED HAVE SEVERELY CRACKED AND ARE EVEN MISSING PARTS OF THE PANEL. DURING MY RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THAT I AM NO WHERE NEAR THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS AND IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

WHEN I'M DRIVING ABOUT 55-60 MPH, MY LAREDO STARTS TO SHAKE VERY BAD TO WHERE I HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER FOR THE SHAKING TO STOP. THIS PROBLEM IS STARTING TO BECOME WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. NOW WHEN I REACH 40-45 MPH IT HAPPENS. I WAS TOLD THIS MAYBE THE TORQUE CONVERTER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE IT. I SEEN WHERE THERE WAS A RECALL BUT NOT SURE IF MY JEEP WAS ONE THAT NEEDED THE WORK. ANY INFO AND HAVE THERE BEEN SIMILAR EVENTS? *TR
ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS, MY JEEP HAS RANDOMLY LOST POWER SUCH THAT THE POWER STEERING, ACCELERATOR, AND BRAKE SYSTEMS STOPPED WORKING. EACH TIME IT HAS OCCURRED, IT WAS AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, SO THE DANGER OF A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT WAS LOW; HOWEVER, ONE TIME IT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS ON A HILL AND I COULDN'T STOP THE JEEP FROM ROLLING DOWN HILL. I HAD TO COAST THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND ONLY CAME TO REST BECAUSE OF A CURB ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. LUCKILY, NO CARS WERE COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

DASH LIGHT FLICKER ON AND OFF AND MESSAGE READS SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM CHECK AND ADVISE. BRAKES COMPLETELY REPLACED A YEAR AGO AND ONLY DRIVE 7500 MILES PER YEAR. IT IS NOT THE BRAKES. WE HAVE RESEARCHED INTERNET AND FEEL IT IS AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM AND PERVASIVE WITH OTHERS AS WELL . IF JUST ONE KEY IN IGNITION WITH NO OTHER WEIGHT OF OTHER KEYS ATTACHED, NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER, PROBLEM SURFACES WHEN ANY WEIGHT OF ADDITIONAL KEYS ATTACHED. IT ALMOST STALLS THE CAR WHEN IT HITS SOMETIMES. CONGRESS IS OPENING UP A PROBE WITH CHRYSLER NOW AND IT SHOULD BE EXPEDITED. CAR AT DEALERSHIP TWICE IN PAST MONTH FOR THIS PROBLEM AND STILL NOT FIXED. WE HAVE HAD PRIOR PROBLEMS IN PREVIOUS YEARS OF OWNERSHIP AS WELL. IT IS SIMILAR TO RECENT TESTIMONY FROM GENERAL MOTORS ON THEIR DEFECTIVE IGNITION ISSUES. *TR
MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A RECALL FROM JEEP CHRYSLER BUT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MY KEY IGNITION WILL AND HAS SHUT OFF ALL BY IT SELF CAUSING ME TO LOOSE STEERING, BRAKES AND TOTAL CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AS I PURCHASED IT IN APRIL OF 2014 AND I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IF I KNEW OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION LIKE THE CHEVROLET VEHICLES. I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH ONE HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND ONE HAND ON MY KEY/IGNITION TO DRIVE. I FEEL THIS IS NOT SAFE AND JEEP CHRYSLER HAS TOLD ME TO STOP DRIVING THIS VEHICLE OR DRIVE SAFELY. HOW CAN I DRIVE SAFELY WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT IS CLEARLY A MAJOR ISSUE WITH ALL IGNITIONS ON SEVERAL YEARS OF JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S. JEEP TOLD ME I CANNOT GET A NEW IGNITION TILL I RECEIVE A SECOND MAIL LETTER TELLING ME THERE IS A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AT APPROXIMATE JUNE 2014 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. CHRYSLER SAID APPROX. DELIVERY OF SEPTEMBER 2014. I HAVE NOT HEARD OR RECEIVED ANYTHING SINCE THEN. MY CONCERN OTHER THAN THE UNSAFE IGNITION SWITCH SITUATION IS THAT EVERY TIME I USE MY JEEP, MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF CONTINUOUSLY. AS TIME GOES ON, THE WORSE IT GETS. MY DEALER SAYS HE HAS CHECKED OTHERS VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM; HIS BEST GUESS IS IT'S RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. HE ALSO SAID THE AIRBAG SHOULD BE A CONCERN BECAUSE IT MAY ACTIVATE AT ANY TIME...EVEN WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT! CHRYSLER TOLD ME NOT TO BE CONCERNED...HOW CAN I NOT BE CONCERNED? WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? *TR
JUNE OF 2014 AND STILL TO THIS DAY THE GEAR SHIFT CAN BE MOVED FROM "P" TO ANY GEAR, AND THAT IS WHEN NO KEYS ARE IN THE IGNITION/AND NO FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I WAS WORKING UNDER THE HOOD AND MY 4 YEAR OLD SON DID JUST THAT AND ALMOST RAN ME OVER. I CHECKED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO KEYS IN IT THEY WERE WITH ME IN MY TOOL BOX BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT HIM TO DO JUST THAT. I CHECKED OUT THE SITUATION TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T A FLUKE, AND TO MY SURPRISE AND STILL TIL THIS DAY, I CAN ENTER THE VEHICLE WITH NO KEYS AND NO FOOT ON THE BRAKE JUST REACH IN AND MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT FROM "P" TO ANY GEAR RESULTING IN THE CLUNK OF THE TRANSMISSION AND ROLLING OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY UNNERVING AND WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE READ COUNTLESS ARTICLES AND BLOGS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT MY GD CHEROKEE USED WITH 71K MILES. I JUST HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE BEFORE HEADING OUT ON A CAMPING TRIP FOR THE WEEKEND. ON THE RETURN TRIP, I HAD JUST TURNED ONTO THE HIGHWAY (55 MPH ZONE). I AM 6'4" TALL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS SHORTER THAN ME. THE SEAT WAS IN THE WRONG POSITION (I NOW KNOW). WHILE SWITCHING FROM GAS PEDAL TO BRAKE PEDAL, MY KNEE HIT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR TURNED OFF. I IMMEDIATELY REACHED FOR THE KEY AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. IT LUNGED THE WAY A MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOSE WHEN THE CLUTCH IS LET OUT TOO QUICK. I MOVED MY SEAT BACK AWAY FROM THE WHEEL. NOW I DRIVE IT FROM FARTHER BACK, WHICH MEANS I NEED TO SIT UP STRAIGHTER, WHICH MEANS MY HEAD HITS THE CEILING OFTEN. I HAVE THE LIMITED EDITION AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT THE SEAT CAN'T GO DOWN FAR ENOUGH FOR ME TO DRIVE IT COMFORTABLE WITHOUT TURNING THE CAR OFF WHICH HAS GOT TO BE HORRIBLE FOR THE CAR. *TR

SO I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND THEY CAME BACK WITH A FEW POSSIBLE OXYGEN SENSOR, EXHAUST LEAK, ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR. SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN WHEN I LEFT WORK THE AFTERNOON I WAS TO TAKE IT IN TO DEALERSHIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON. WHEN I GOT TO DEALERSHIP I TOLD THEM THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON. THEY SAID THEY MIGHT STILL TRY TO FIGURE OUT PROBLEM DOING A DIAGNOSTIC. ANYWAY A COUPLE HOURS LATER THEY CAME BACK AND SAID IT WAS THE (TCM) WHICH IS THE TRANSFER CONTROL MODULE. IT'S IN THE COMPUTER PART AND IT CAUSES HESITATION IN THE TRANSMISSION AND COULD CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS IF NOT FIXED. NOW MIND YOU IT'S A $900 FIX WHICH IS EXPENSIVE. THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2005 MODEL WHERE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HOUSING CRACKS AND THE HANDLE FALLS AND BECOMES UNUSABLE. THIS HAPPENS ON ALL DOORS OF CAR BUT THE FIRST ONE TO GO IN MY CASE WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. ONCE THE HANDLE FALLS YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR USING THAT DOOR. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS. JEEP HAS NOT PROVIDED A FIX EXCEPT TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR. A RECALL IS NEEDED AS ALMOST EVERYONE WITH THIS MODEL OF CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
