WHILE DRIVING THE IGNITION SWITCH POSITION TURNS TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION. THE ENGINE INITIALLY TURNS OFF AND THEN RESUMES RUNNING. THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNS OFF AND REMAINS OFF, THE HEADLIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF AND THEN TURN OFF, AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THEY STAY ON AS IF IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION. IF I QUICKLY AND SLIGHTLY TURN THE IGNITION KEY THE CAR RESUMES A NORMAL OPERATING MODE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT ALL ELSE IS TURNED OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE I HAVE NOT EXPERIMENTED WITH OTHER ELECTRONICS SUCH AS THE WINDOWS, SEATS, ETC. WHEN THIS OCCURS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE CAUSED IF I BUMP THE KEY RING WITH MY KNEE OR I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND SOMEWHAT INFREQUENT BUT OVER TIME THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED. AS OF LATE, THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOUT EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. *TR
ALL 4 INTERIOR DOOR OPENING HANDLES BREAKING/FAILING: 1 REAR DOOR TOTALLY INOPERABLE. ***THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE ' IF HANDLES BREAK OR ARE INOPERABLE IN CERTAIN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, PASSENGERS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!*** MANUFACTURER CHARGE TO REPLACE/REPAIR HANDLES IS PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE: IN MY CASE, THE COST OF EIGHT (8) MONTHLY CAR PAYMENTS! ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN APART FROM THE DOOR PANEL, AND AFTER A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND LOOKING AT NHTSA WEBSITE, IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. WOULD BE INCREDIBLY UNSAFE IF YOU NEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN A HURRY. *TT
ME AND MY ROOM MATE WERE DRIVING BACK FROM MY JOB WHEN A LADY IN A CAR PASSED A RED LIGHT. WE HIT THE LADY HEAD ON AT 45 MPH AND NEITHER ONE OF THE DRIVER OR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG'S DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO THE WORK, A SEMI TRUCK WAS FRONT OF MY JEEP,IT WAS A STOP SIGN AND THE SEMI TRUCK WAS STOPPING AND I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP, BUT MY JEEP DIDN'T SLOW DOWN. EVEN I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE, DIDN'T STOP ON TIME AND I CRASHED TO THE SEMI TRUCK. LUCKILY, DIDN'T GIVE ANY DAMAGE TO THE SEMI TRUCK , BUT MY JEEP END UP TOTAL LOST. AFTER I GOT THIS RECALL FROM MAIL, I REALIZE , THE ACCIDENT WASN'T MY FAULT, THE JEEP HAD A FACTORY DEFECTED. I NEED SOME ONE TO ANSWER THIS FOR ME. BECAUSE I LOST MY JEEP AND GOT ANOTHER CAR TO GO TO WORK. TILL NOW I WAS ASKING MYSELF HOW I COULDN'T STOP THE JEEP AND IT WAS ONLY 15 TO 20 MILES AN HOURS. NOW I KNOW IT WASN'T ME. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE DOOR PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
ALL DOOR HANDLES ARE BROKEN ON THE INSIDE. THESE HAVE NOT BEEN USED IMPROPERLY. THE PLASTIC BEHIND THE HANDLE IS VERY WEAK AND IT BREAKS. NEITHER OF MY BACK DOORS CAN BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. I AM COMPLETELY RESTRICTED FROM USING THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR BECAUSE IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR, ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT WOULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. FRONT DOORS ARE EQUALLY BROKEN BUT CAN BE OPENED AFTER A FEW TRIES. THE HAZARD IS STILL THERE FOR MYSELF AND ANYONE IN THE FRONT SEAT. ALTHOUGH THIS PLASTIC IS AN INDEPENDENT PIECE, THE DEALER WILL ONLY SELL THE WHOLE INDOOR PANEL AT $500.00 EACH DOOR PANEL PLUS LABOR. I CALLED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY RESPONDED "YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. THE ARE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTY. YOU HAVE TO PAY IT ON YOUR OWN". THEN I TRY TO FIND GENERIC OR AFTERMARKET HANDLES AND REALIZE THAT LITERALLY EVERY SHOP I VISITED HAS DOZENS OF CUSTOMERS WITH MY SAME CAR AND MY SAME PROBLEM, SOME THAT CHRYSLER RESPONDED TO AND SOME THAT THEY DID NOT. ANYWAYS, IT IS A SERIOUS DEFECT ON THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2005 INDOOR HANDLES THAT IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK AND CHRYSLER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT BULLY THEIR CUSTOMERS AND AVOIDING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THE PLASTIC AROUND ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES FELL INSIDE THE DOOR, CAUSING THE DOOR TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THEY WOULD COVER HALF OF THE COST TO REPAIR THE DOOR. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
MY CAR KEYS STOPPED WORKING IN 2010. THIS MEANS THAT EVERY TIME I LOCK THE DOORS I NEED TO DO IT MANUALLY WHICH CANCELS THE ALARM TO FUNCTION. MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROTECTION FORM BEING BROKEN INTO. I HAVE SEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH IS DESCRIBED AS DEFECTIVE KEYS.
2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. 3 OF MY 4 HANDLES HAVE BROKEN OFF. JEEP CHARGES $700.00 TO REPLACE THIS. IT IS A JOKE, CONSIDERING I HAVE USED THE BACKSEAT DOOR HANDLES MAYBE 15 TIMES SINCE I HAVE HAD IT SINCE 2007. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OR SEEN DOOR HANDLES ON ANY VEHICLE COMPLETELY BREAK OFF OUT OF NO WHERE. *TR
THERE IS A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES OF THE 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. APPARENTLY THE PLASTIC HOLDING THESE DOOR HANDLES HAS A TENDENCY TO CRACK AND BREAK, CAUSING THE DOOR HANDLES TO BE INOPERABLE FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR HANDLE IS ONLY SUPPORTED BY THE MOLDED PLASTIC OF THE ENTIRE PLASTIC DOOR PANEL, AND NOT THE METAL FRAME OF THE DOOR ITSELF. THERE HAS BEEN NO BLOW OR ABNORMAL USE TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM, JUST THE NORMAL OPENING OF THE DOORS WITH THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THIS CONDITION HAS AFFECTED ALL 4 OF OUR DOORS, WITH THE HANDLE ITSELF COMPLETELY MISSING (FALLING DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR) ON THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR. AT THIS POINT, THE HANDLE ON THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS NOT MISSING, BUT IT IS INOPERABLE (NOTHING FOR THE HANDLE TO PULL AGAINST BECAUSE IT IS CRACKED ON THE INSIDE), AND BOTH FRONT DOORS HAVE CRACKS BUT ARE OPERATIONAL AT THIS POINT. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT CHRYSLER-JEEP NEEDS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IN A FIRE OR ACCIDENT, HAVING GOTTEN TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER, BUT THE DEALER HAS INDICATED THERE IS NO RECALL AND IT WILL COST ~$600 EACH TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANELS TO FIX THE CURRENT PROBLEM. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT EVEN WITH THE NEW DOOR PANELS, THE PROBLEM MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! MUST SOMEONE DIE TO BRING THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM TO LIGHT. *TR
SOMETIMES WHEN I DRIVE THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT STALLS OUT AND MY RPM'S DON'T MOVE, ALL THE BOXES AROUND PRND LIGHT UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK OR SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF. ONCE THIS IS DONE THE CAR CONTINUES TO DRIVE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR A DAY. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH IS VERY SCARY TO JUST DROP SPEED DOWN TO 40. I HAVE READ MANY BLOGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES.
ON ALL INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES, THE PLASTIC BACKING THAT IS RECESSED OR 'CUPPED' BEHIND THE ACTUAL SILVER HANDLES YOU PULL TO OPEN THE DOORS HAS CRACKED. THE BACK LEFT DOOR CRACKED TO A DEGREE WHERE THE HANDLE SEPARATED FROM THE OPENING CABLE, SO THE DOOR CAN NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSE. ALL HANDLES SHOW THE SAME SIGN OF CRACKING THOUGH. IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT, MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING OUT. *TR
FAULTY INSIDE DOOR HANDLES/ CRACKED/ LOSE/ MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD

I BOUGHT MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN APRIL 2010 SO I HAVE HAD IT FOR 5 MONTHS. IN THAT 5 MONTHS THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR HANDLE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND FALLEN INTO THE DOOR, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR HAS CRACKED AND WILL BE COMPLETELY BROKEN SOON, THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HANDLE IS JUST BEGINNING TO CRACK SO THE ONLY ONE THAT REALLY WORKS 100% IS THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE. I HAVE AN EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY THAT WE PURCHASED AND WERE TOLD THE ONLY THING IT DIDN'T COVER WAS THE DVD PLAYER...WELL THEY LIED! ABOUT A MONTH AFTER WE BOUGHT THE JEEP WHILE DRIVING THE AC WOULD SHUT OFF AND EVERYTHING ON THE DASH WOULD START TO BLINK ON AND OFF AND THEN SUDDENLY STOP, I TOOK IT IN AND ALL THEY SAID WAS WE COULD NOT GET IT TO DO IT AGAIN. WE RECENTLY HAD THE REAR DIFFERENTIALS REPAIRED DUE TO THEM GOING OUT, THEY ACTUALLY COVERED THAT UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE ONLY OTHER ISSUE IS SOMETIMES WHILE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT AND IDLE THE JEEP WILL SEEM LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE BUT NEVER DOES. I ONLY HAVE 56000 MILES ON MY CAR AND HAVE OWNED IT 5 SHORT MONTHS AND HAVE HAD ALL OF THESE ISSUES, MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE DOOR HANDLES BECAUSE NOT ONLY CAN MY 3 KIDS NOT GET OUT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY, BUT WHERE THE PLASTIC HAS CRACKED IT HAS SHARP EDGES AND THEY COULD EASILY CUT THEIR HANDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 99,000.
APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO, THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ATTACHED TO THE DOOR PANEL BECAME BRITTLE AND CRACKED AND OVER TIME THE 2 REAR DOORS DO NOT HAVE HANDLES, JUST GAPING HOLES, AND THE FRONT DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKED WITH LARGE HOLES. THE OBVIOUS DEFECT OF THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL HAS CREATED A SITUATION WHERE THE REAR PASSENGERS CANNOT EXIT IN AN EMERGENCY. THE CRACKING OF THE DOOR PANEL IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT A DEFECT IN CONSTRUCTION. *TR
RUBBER/PLASTIC PIECE THAT RIDES ALONG WHEN SHIFTING BECAME BUNCHED UP AND COULDN'T SHIFT INTO PARK OR DRIVE. HAD TO CUT OUT THE BUNCHED UP PIECE AS CAR WAS IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. THIS RUBBER/PLASTIC PIECE IS PART OF THE SHIFTER BEZEL TRIM THAT KEEPS DUST AND DIRT FROM GETTING INTO THE SHIFTER AREA. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AS DEALER WANTS $720.00 FOR THE PART PLUS LABOR!!??!!?? THIS IS LUDICROUS!!!!!! *TR
2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS HAD CONTINUOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND STALLING SINCE IT HAD ABOUT 9000 MILES ON IT AND WAS BOUGHT NEW. DEALERSHIP HAS LOOKED AT IT SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD NOT EVERY FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND USUALLY CLEARS OUT FAILURE AND PROBLEMS OCCUR SHORTLY AFTER AGAIN. AFTER THE VEHICLE STRANDED ME A WEEK AGO AND ONCE AGAIN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND NOTHING WRONG-REPLACED THE BATTERY, THE VEHICLE IS STALLING MORE THAN EVER AND ALMOST HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL BECAUSE THE POWER WENT OUT DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH POWER STEERING GONE AND CAME CLOSE TO GETTING HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. WAS ABLE TO THROW INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART, BUT THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION. THE AREA ON INTERSTATE WAS IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND IT SEEMS THE PROBLEM TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN DECELERATING BELOW 30 MPH. *TR
I OWN A 2005 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, AT THIS TIME BOTH FRONT DOORS HANDLES ARE BROKEN, THE REAR HANDLES START TO BREAKING APART TOO. I HAVE TO OPEN THE DOORS FRONT THE OUTSIDE WITCH IS UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. FIRST ONE BROKE AT 67000 MILES, AND THE SECOND AT 71000 MILES . PLEASE HELP. *TR

TLA* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY SURGED FORWARD CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. ONE OF THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED ACCORDINGLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 81,000. UPDATED 11/03/10. *LJ
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE TO THE PARK POSITION BECAUSE THE DUST COVER BROKE INTO PIECES. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PARK. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 64,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDER ON THE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED THE SWITCH TO DETERIORATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER SINCE THE FAILURE HAD BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE TIME COMPLAINT WAS FILED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE STARTED TO DEVELOP CRACKS, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR PANELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS (ALL 4 DOORS) HAVE CRACKED/CRUMBLED AROUND THE DOOR HANDLES MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE 75,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THEREFORE IT IS NOT UNDER STANDARD WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD REPLACE THE ENTIRE PANEL ON EACH DOOR FOR ABOUT $500-$700 EACH. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BOTH FRONT AND BACK ARE CRACKING AND BREAKING OFF IN MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 2005. NO LONGER IS IT POSSIBLE TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS THE SAME. BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK DRIVER SIDE HANDLES ARE CRACKING WITH PIECES OF PLASTIC BROKEN OFF. THEY ARE EVENTUALLY GOING TO BREAK OFF AS WELL. THIS IS NOT OCCURRING TO ABUSE OF OPENING THE DOORS. I HAVE PROBABLY HAD THE BACK DOORS OPENED FROM THE INSIDE A TOTAL OF 30 TIMES FOR THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS AND THE CONTACT'S HOME WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WOULD EITHER HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED OR DO THE REPAIR HIMSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,400.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS BROKEN OFF BEHIND THE HANDLE AND THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR IS CRACKED. I FEEL ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT IN WHICH THE DOORS BECOME TOTALLY INOPERABLE, MINE HAVE NOT GOTTEN THAT FAR, BUT I AM HANDICAPPED AND THAT WOULD COMPLICATE MY SITUATION EVEN MORE. MY DAUGHTER'S 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR GOING 90MPH. SHE WAS SENT AIRBORNE, FLIPPED END OVER END & ROLLED ON THE SIDE BEFORE COMING TO REST UPRIGHT. THE FRONT OF HER JEEP WAS GONE BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WE WERE TOLD BY THE WRECKER SERVICE THAT THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND STEERING WHEEL DURING THE ROLL. HERE EAR ALSO HIT THE WHEEL AND WAS CUT BY THE GLASS FROM THE WINDSHIELDS/WINDOWS. WE HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT WERE TOLD THAT THE BAGS WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. WHEN THE CAR NOSE DIVED INTO THE EMBANKMENT AFTER BEING AIRBORNE AND FLIPPED OVER, I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED THE AIRBAGS. *TR
I AM AT THE END OF MY ROPE WITH THIS SAME STORY. MY STORY IS EXACTLY LIKE THE OTHER 824 COMPLAINTS POSTED HERE. MY INDOOR HANDLES, ON MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, HAVE BROKEN. MY CHILDREN AND I CANNOT EXIT MY VEHICLE WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN WINDOWS. HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE ARE EVER IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHICH INCLUDES THE FAILURE OF MY VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC SYSTEM, BECAUSE WE WOULD LITERALLY BE TRAPPED INSIDE WITHOUT THE USE OF OUR WINDOWS. I HAVE COMPLAINED, AND COMPLAINED AND COMPLAINED TO THE CHRYSLER COMPANY. NO ONE WILL HELP ME. MY QUOTE, TO REPAIR EACH DOOR, IS $750. AS A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS VERY HARD TO PAY MY VEHICLE PAYMENTS AS IT IS, I AM NOW FACED WITH THE BURDEN OF HAVING TO PAY ANOTHER $3,000 IN ORDER TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I HAVE NEVER SUED ANYONE IN MY LIFE, NOR HAVE I EVER CONSIDERED DOING SO, BUT THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW. IT IS TIME FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, PEOPLE! 3 OF 4 DOOR HANDLES BROKEN. STRESS FROM HANDLE CABLE OPERATIONS CREATES A CRACK. WHEN THE CRACK BECOME A BREAK THE DOOR BECOMES INOPERABLE, AND CAN NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS IN EDMUNDS CAR SPACE ON THIS PROBLEM SINCE NOVEMBER 2007. THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THE DOORS CAN NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE INCASE OF AN EMERGENCY. *TR

THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO PREVENT INCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BRAKES WERE CLEANED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, AND ALL OF THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS HAVE CRACKED AROUND THE DOOR HANDLE RELEASE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE POOR CONSTRUCTION OR THE DOOR PANELS AND THE LATCH MECHANISM WILL CAUSE OCCUPANTS TO BE STUCK INSIDE WHEN THE DOOR HANDLES EVENTUALLY FAIL. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES - ALL FOUR INTERIOR DOOR LATCHES ARE CRACKED AND ONE IS INOPERABLE. *TR
ALL OF THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE BREAKING OFF AROUND THE PULL LEVER. IT STARTED WITH ONE OF THE BACK DOORS AND NOW HAS SPREAD TO BOTH BACK DOORS AND THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE PLASTIC AROUND THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS BEGUN TO CRACK AND WILL NOT BE LONG BEFORE IT FAILS AS WELL. THE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY IS MOLDED INTO THE ENTIRE PANEL AND THE REPAIR REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL. GETTING OUT OF THIS CAR REQUIRES SOME SKILL. YOU HAVE TO PULL STRAIGHT OUT ON THE WIRE (THAT USED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE PULL LEVER) IF THE WIRE DROPS INTO THE PANEL YOU CAN ONLY EXIT THE JEEP BY SOMEONE OPENING IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A PROBLEM. I DID A SEARCH ON THE NET AND I FOUND COUNTLESS POST OF THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. JEEP IS SAYING THE SAME THING TO ANYONE WHO CONTACTS THEM.
