MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2005 HAS ONLY 25,900 MILES AND 4 OF THE 4 INSIDE HANDLES ARE BROKEN, GONE DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY PLASTIC. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND CHRYSLER DON'T WANNA DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!!! WHAT WAS GONNA HAVE TO HAPPEN BEFORE CHRYSLER STARTS LOOKING INTO THIS? WHAT IF ME AND MY FAMILY GET TO A CAR ACCIDENT AND CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR !!!! MAYBE THEN THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT!!!! *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ON MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WILL NOT ROLL UP (AFTER DROPPING DOWN INTO THE DOOR ON THE HIGHWAY). *TR
MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN STALLING WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN I COME TO THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHEN I STOP AT A RED LIGHT, IN PARKING LOTS AND SLOWING DOWN ON THE HIGHWAYS THE TRUCK BEGINS SLOWING DOWN AND SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY. WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT HAS BEEN STARTING BACK UP. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND SAW THERE WERE RECALLS FOR JEEPS STALLING, HOWEVER WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, BRADSHAW JEEP IN OAKVILLE CT AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY JEEP WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR ANYTHING THEY WOULD NEED TO WORK ON IN THE TRUCK IF GRAND CHEROKEES WERE RECALLED FOR STALLING AND I'M NOW CALLING TO SAY MINE IS STALLING, IT IS ODD TO ME THAT THEY RESPOND MY JEEP IS NOT PART OF THE SAME PROBLEM/RECALL. IT'S DOING THE SAME THING. IN THE PAST WEEK ALONE MY TRUCK HAS STALLED THREE TIMES, MONDAY WHILE I WAS COMING TOWARDS A TRAFFIC LIGHT SLOWING DOWN TO TURN, LAST NIGHT PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THIS MORNING STOPPING AT A MAIN INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE TRUCK BEHIND ME ALMOST DROVE INTO ME, WE WERE LUCKY IT WENT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE JEEP AT THIS POINT. *TR
2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE - INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BROKEN ALL OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE BROKEN. APPARENTLY THE ONLY AVAILABLE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL ASSEMBLY. I HAVE SOLICITED QUOTATIONS FOR EACH PANEL, AND THE LOWEST OFFERED PRICE HAS BEEN $750/PANEL. BASED UPON THE FACT THAT 4 OF 4 HANDLES HAVE BROKEN IN THE SAME MANNER, I BELIEVE IT SOUND TO CONCLUDE THE HANDLE SUFFERS FROM A HIDDEN VICE OR DEFECT. LUCKILY, I LIVE IN A STATE THAT ALLOWS RECOVERY FOR BREACH OF THE WARRANTY AGAINST REDHIBITION. HOWEVER, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE DISAPPOINTMENT AND ANGER FOR LIKE CONSUMERS WHO HAVE NO RECOURSE TO ADDRESS THIS DEFECT. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND PERSUADE THE MANUFACTURE TO REMEDY VIA RECALL. *TR
MY JEEP IS DOWN TO ONLY THE TWO FRONT DOOR HANDLES WHICH ARE COMPLETELY CRACKED AND READY TO BREAK OFF AT ANY TIME. THE REAR DOORS HAVE NO HANDLES AND POSE A SERIOUS RISK IF THE VEHICLE IS EVER IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND PEOPLE ARE TRAPPED INSIDE. JEEP NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THEIR MISTAKE.

THE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS WITH A "DING" NOISE AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY (EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES). RESEARCHED ON INTERNET TO SEE WHAT THE CAUSE MAY BE AND NOTICED THAT MANY OTHERS ARE REPORTING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE 1999 TO 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S. THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WAS A CLOCK SPRING FAILURE AND MADE TO PAY $310+ TO HAVE IT FIXED.
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS AND HANDLES TO OPEN THE DOORS ARE ALL BROKEN. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $600-700 PER DOOR TO REPLACE. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT RENDERING THE PASSENGERS UNABLE TO OPEN UP THE DOORS. THE CHRYSLER CORP SHOULD DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS OBVIOUS AND DANGEROUS DESIGN/MANUFACTURING ISSUE. AS A RESULT OF THE BROKEN DOOR PANELS, THE DOOR HANDLES WILL NOT PROPERLY OPEN UP THE DOORS FOR BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOORS. IF THERE IS EVER AN ACCIDENT AND THOSE DOORS ARE THE ONLY ESCAPE ROUTE, THEY WILL RENDER THE PASSENGERS TRAPPED IN THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WHEN THE DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED FROM THE DOOR PANEL. IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, SHE HAD TO EXIT THROUGH ANOTHER DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON EACH DOOR HANDLE IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE CASINGS BEHIND THE INSIDE DOOR LATCH BEGAN TO GRADUALLY DETERIORATE UNTIL ALL FOUR DOOR CASINGS CRACKED WHICH RESULTED IN DIFFICULTY EXITING THE VEHICLE. THREE OF THE FOUR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN OFF COMPLETELY, RENDERING THE DOORS USELESS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY SERVICE SINCE THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ALL FOUR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKING AND BREAKING. THEY HAVE HOLES IN THEM AND THE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE IS FALLING OFF AND THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR HANDLE IS ALSO FALLING OFF. THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGANCY SMALL CHILDREN MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE REAR DOORS. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE REAR CENTER SEAT WAS FOLDED DOWNWARD, THE SEAT BELT WOULD BECOME LOCKED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT HAD THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT REPLACE BY THE DEALER BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
THE BEZEL ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED BY THE GEAR SHIFT SLEEVE BUNCHING, WHICH PREVENTED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM STAYING IN "DRIVE". WITHOUT ANY PHYSICAL MANIPULATION, THE GEARS SHIFTED FROM "DRIVE" TO "NEUTRAL". *TR
I HAVE A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE CAR STARTED TO STALL SPORADICALLY. AT FIRST IT JUST STARTED WHEN I STOPPED AT THE LAMP POSTS OR STOP SIGNS, AFTER IT STARTED TO STALL SPORADICALLY ANYTIME. I CALLED JEEP LINE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE SERVICE AS IT COULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE SERVICE (JOHN HOFFER, TOPEKA, KS) ON 2/22/2010 WHEN THEY CHANGED SOME PUMP AND THEY SAID IT IS FIXED; IT WAS NOT AND THE CAR DIED ON ME 3 TIMES, I TOOK BACK THE CAR TO THE SERVICE AND THEY TOLD CALLED ME THAT I HAVE A FRONT CONTROL MODULE ISSUE AND WE NEED TO CHANGE IT. I CALLED JEEP RIGHT AWAY GAVE THEM MY VIN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT YES IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE ABOUT THIS MODULE, BUT THEY ARE SORRY MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THE RECALLED ONES AND I HAVE TO PAY THE 1200 USD TO CHANGE THE MODULE. MY QUESTIONS: WHO IS RESPONSIBLE THIS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE COULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY? OUR JEEP WILL SUDDENLY CUT OUT AND TURN OFF WHILE WE ARE ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 PLUS SPEEDS THE CAR JUST DIES EVERYTHING JUST LOCKS OFF AND THE CAR IS JUST DEAD. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER 6 TIMES. THE IGNITION SWITCH ON THIS CAR IS IN FAILURE MODE . ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS , SPEEDOMETER FLASH OR OR DOWN TO ZERO SPEED . THIS ONLY HAPPENS MOMENTARILY AS THE LIGHTS AND SPEEDOMETER COME RIGHT BACK ON . IT SEEMS THAT IT HAPPENS MORE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BETWEEN 30 TO 40 DEGREES FARENHEIT. I HAD THIS CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BEDFORD CHRYSLER(814-623-1141 IN BEDFORD , PENNSYLVANIA MULTIPLE TIMES . THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT RECREATE ITSELF . ONCE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS , IT FLASHED MULTIPLE TIMES . I REACHED FOR THE IGNITION KEY AND MOVED IT SLIGHTLY , THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY STOPPED . I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL BUT NOT SURE IF THIS IS AN AFFECTED MODEL. ONCE I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM , I HAD MY WIFE TRY THE SAME THING WITH THE KEYS , AND THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY FOR HER . TWO OF THE DOOR HANDLES ON MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAVE BROKEN OFF AND ARE UNUSABLE. THE OTHER TWO ARE CRACKING AND I AM FEARFUL THEY WILL BE BREAKING OFF SOON. THE HANDLES AND THE SUPPORTING DOOR FRAMES ARE ALL CRACKING IN THE SAME LOCATION AND THE HANDLES THEN FALL OFF. THE MANUFACTURE HAS BEEN UNWILLING TO EVEN DISCUSS THE ISSUE. THE DEALER STATES IT IS $700 PER DOOR TO FIX. PARTS TO FIX THE DOOR HANDLES ARE UNAVAILABLE FOR SALE OUTSIDE THE DEALERSHIPS. DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE OF BEING UNABLE TO EXIT THE BACK SEAT AREA FROM THE INSIDE, I AM UNABLE TO ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE BACK SEATS AT THIS TIME. IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR, THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO EXIT THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS POSTED AS WELL AS A WEBSITE WHERE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE STATING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH THEIR 2005 JEEP. THERE WAS NOT ANY OUTSIDE CIRCUMSTANCE THAT CAUSED THIS DEFECT. THE DEALER STATES IT IS "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD. I HOPE YOU WILL ADDRESS AS A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF ON THE DRIVER DOOR AND EVERY DOOR HANDLE IS ABOUT TO BREAK. DUE TO VERY WEAK AND DRY PLASTIC USED TO MAKE FROM JEEP. I HAVE A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT I PURCHASED NEW. ALL OF THE PLASTIC AROUND THE DOOR HANDLES HAS BROKEN APART AND NOW BOTH OF THE REAR DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE FRONT DOORS SEEM THAT THEY WILL BE NEXT TO FOLLOW AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL MUST BE REPLACED FOR AN ESTIMATED COST OF $485 EACH DOOR. I FIND IT VERY UNSAFE FOR MY CHILDREN TO BE IN THE BACK SEAT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO BET OUT OF THE VEHICLE UNLESS OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. FIRST THE LOCKS STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY ALONG WITH THE KEY. NEXT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITH ONLY A CLICK AND THEN NOTHING OCCASIONALLY IT WOULD START AND THEN HAPPEN AGAIN AT THE NEXT DESTINATION. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER ON 10-12 OCCASIONS AND HAVE HAD A STARTER REPLACED. IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE SEVERAL HUNDRED INSTANCES OF THE SAME THING SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS RENDERING THESE VEHICLES USELESS OWNERS ARE ALL TOLD THE SAME THING "NEVER HEARD OF IT, YET IF ONE SEARCHES, YOU WILL FIND SEVERAL TIMES ITS THE SAME ISSUE THIS IS UNSAFE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 45 MPH ON TIME AND IT CANNOT BE TRUSTED AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIX THIS COMMON PROBLEM HELP. *TR

2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I SEARCHED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND FOUND MANY LEADS. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL NUMBER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2005 THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE ON MY VEHICLE IN 2005. THE SUNROOF/MOONROOF DOES NOT SET APPROPRIATELY WHEN CLOSED AND CAUSES WATER LEAK AND SUBSEQUENT WATER DAMAGES. THIS ALSO LEADS TO THE DRAINAGE LINES TO CLOG UP AND CAUSES WATER TO BACKUP INTO SENSITIVE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITHIN THE ROOF. IN MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, WHILE TRAVELING ON A CONGESTED ROAD, APPROX. 25 MPH, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO SLOW DOWN. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. LUCKILY, FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE HARD. I ATTEMPTED TO TAP GAS PEDAL WITH OTHER FOOT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRYING TO FIGHT THROUGH TRAFFIC WITHOUT CRASHING. I ATTEMPTED TO EASE UP ON BRAKE PEDAL WHILE TRYING TO PULL CAR OVER, TAPPING ON CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON, MAKING SURE THAT WAS OFF. IN A STATE OF SHOCK, I ACTUALLY TURNED THE IGNITION KEY OFF, BUT THE VEHICLE REMAINED GOING. SOON AFTER, I WAS ABLE TO REACH THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE VEHICLE STILL WANTING TO ACCELERATE AND FOOT STILL ON BRAKE. THIS TERRORIZING EPISODE LASTED FOR UNDER A MINUTE BEFORE IT ENDED AS SUDDENLY AS IT STARTED. DUE TO THE SHOCK, I DIDN'T REALIZE I SHOULD HAVE PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I DROVE THE CAR HOME VERY SLOW AND CAUTIOUSLY, STILL SHAKING. I DID NOT NOTICE GAUGES ON DASHBOARD AT TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, TEST DRIVING. NO CODES, NO INCIDENT REPLICATED. THROTTLE SYSTEM CHECKED AND CLEANED. NO DIAGNOSIS FOUND, SUGGEST TO CHANGE FLOOR MATS. I HAVE DRIVEN VEHICLE FOR FOUR YEARS, NO COMPLAINTS. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT WHICH SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME. VEHICLE HAS 37,500 MILES ON IT.
