WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. HAVING A HEMI V8 IN THE FRONT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER! I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL STALL BUT IVE ENDED UP AT A STOP SIGN AND IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TWICE. A BIT SCARED AS TO WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THE RADIO AND HEADLIGHTS STAY ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IVE FOUND THAT PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PRESSING THE START BUTTON RESTARTS THE SUV
BEGINNING IN AUGUST OF 2016, THE CAR WILL STALL SPORADICALLY UPON RAPID DECELERATION. LAST TIME IN MARCH THE CAR STALLED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. DEALER CANNOT RECREATE OR DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND RETURNS THE CAR 'OPERATING AS DESIGNED.' CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 10-12 TIMES AND MORE RECENTLY WITH GREATER FREQUENCY. RAPID DECLARATION USUALLY OCCURS TO AVOID A PROBLEM, THIS IS THE WORST TIME FOR THE CAR TO STALL OUT.
I WILL BE DRIVING THE JEEP & IT WILL STALL JUST TURN OFF LOSE POWER STEERING. IT HAPPENED TWICE ON FREEWAY & 10 TIMES ON STREET. IT STALLS WHEN AM TURNING. I TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN MONROVIA CA THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT DROVE IT NOTHING THEY DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING & IT KEEPS STALLING. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY I DON'T KNOW IF THE WORK WAS REALLY DONE SINCE IT KEEPS STALLING. AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ON FWY ONLY DRIVING ON STREET. AFRAID OF IT STALLING AGAIN.
VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION , SUDDENLY CUTS OFF , NO POWER , NO BRAKES , DASHBOARD LIGHTS ALL COME ON INDICATING ALL CAUTIONS I.E., ENGINE LIGHT , AIRBAGS SEAT BELTS . RADIO GOES OUT AND COMES BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND ONCE WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE.
TODAY, MONDAY, MARCH 6TH, 2017; I WAS DRIVING TO WORK; A COUPLE OF MILES FROM MY HOUSE MY VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY FOR ME, IT WAS A LOW-SPEED AREA AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY TRUCK DID NOT TURN ON AGAIN DESPITE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I CALLED A TOW AND IT TOOK IT TO A SHOP. I LEFT THE TRUCK THE ENTIRE DAY. AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME SAYING IT WORKED AGAIN AND THAT APPARENTLY THERE WAS A MAL-FUNCTION WITH THE RELAY SYSTEM. THEY SAID THE GAS-PUMP WAS NOT WORKING AND SUDDENLY WHEN THEY WERE CHECKING THE TPIM IT WORKED BY ITSELF. THEY COULD ONLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR A MORE PROFOUND CHECK. I RECALLED I GOT A CARFAX NOT SO LONG AGO AND GOING BACK TO IT I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE TPIM FAILURES... THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND WITH A VERY HIGH RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. I WORK IN MANUFACTURING SUPPLYING PARTS TO DIFFERENT OEM'S AND IN THE PFMEA (POTENTIAL FAILURE MODE AND EFFECTS ANALYSIS) THIS WOULD HAVE A SEVERITY OF 10!!! I WILL FILE ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND WILL CALL THE NHTS TO GET MY TPIM REPLACED ASAP! I REALLY HOPE THEY CAN MAKE THIS QUICKLY. IF I CAN GET ANOTHER CAR I WILL DO BUT I WILL NOT TAKE MY FAMILY ON THE TRUCK FOR SURE.
WHEN DRIVING THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF WITH NO WARNING. SINCE DECEMBER UNTIL NOW, IT HAS DONE THIS A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES. 3 OF THE TIMES EITHER MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY OR GETTING OFF OF THE FREEWAY. SCARES ME SO MUCH. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE ANYONE CRASH FROM THE BEHIND. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS, AND THE BRAKES BECOME VERY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ON. ITS HARD TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC.
QUADRALIFT SUSPENSION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM HAS A HIGH PROPENSITY FOR FAILURE. THIS RESULTS IN AN UNSAFE/UNSTABLE DRIVING CONDITION. 100'S OF COMPLAINTS ARE FOUND ON THE INTERNET. A DESIGN DEFECT IN THIS SYSTEM HAS CAUSED THE HIGH FAILURE RATE. EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE OR VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND. THE VEHICLE IS NOT ROAD WORTHY AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THIS SYSTEM. HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH JEEP HQ......HOPING TO GET SOME SUPPORT FOR NOT JUST MY FAILED VEHICLE BUT THE 10-15% OF JEEP OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MODE OF FAILURE.

THE FAILURE MAINLY OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN COLD WEATHER AND WHILE MAKING A TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (RAINBOW JEEP, 301 RIVER HIGHLANDS BLVD, COVINGTON, LA) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE DRIVESHAFT, OIL PAN, PURGE SOLENOID, EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET AND BOLTS, AND THE FUEL PUMP WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHEREIN I WAS "T-BONED" ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR/PILLAR WHILE CROSSING A FOUR LANE INTERSECTION. MY VEHICLE SUBSEQUENTLY FLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE COMING TO A REST. I WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OUT OF THE CAR WITH MY DOG VIA THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. NOT ONE SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED DURING THE INCIDENT, INCLUDING THE SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAGS FORM THE COLLISION ITSELF NOR THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS FROM THE MULTIPLE ROLLOVERS. WHEN I ASKED JEEP TO INVESTIGATE, I WAS SENT A LETTER ESSENTIALLY SAYING: "YOUR ACCIDENT WASN'T SEVERE ENOUGH TO WARRANT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT." - THIS DESPITE, AS I SAID, IT BEING A MULTIPLE ROLLOVER EVENT. MY INJURIES CONSISTED OF SORENESS ON MY LEFT SIDE, A LACERATION ON MY RIGHT HAND, AND A HECK OF A BUMP ON MY HEAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE MY INJURIES WEREN'T WORSE; HOWEVER, MYSELF AND PRACTICALLY EVERYONE ELSE INCLUDING THE OFFICERS AND EMTS WERE BAFFLED AT THE FACT THAT NOT ONE SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE AFTER THE WRECK SHOWING EXTERIOR DAMAGE AS WELL AS INTERIOR SHOTS SHOWING NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. *TT *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A NEW ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
2011JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND HAD STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION LOSING POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES, AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH TELLING ME ANYTHING ABOUT JEEP BEING TURN OFF. VERY SCARY! I HIT THE CURB AND ALMOST HIT THE ATOP SIGN.
2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND SUMMIT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SUDDEN VEHICLE ACCELERATION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INTO THE REAR OF A TRUCK, FLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES, AND ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO SUFFER A BROKEN EYE SOCKET. THE PASSENGER WAS KILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING THE TIMP MODULE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 55MPH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MULTIPLE SYSTEM WARNINGS WERE SHOWN BY EVIC, INCLUDING ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, IGNITION SYSTEM, 4WD SYSTEM, AND AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. BRAKING POWER WAS SEVERELY DIMINISHED. MAXIMUM SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 5MPH, BEFORE STALLING OUT AFTER 10 FEET. THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE WAS A SHORT IN THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR THAT DISABLED ALL POWERTRAIN AND BRAKING SYSTEMS. ALL SYSTEMS SHARE THE SAME 5 VOLT CIRCUIT INTO PCM.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH and making a turn, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact shifted into neutral, pressed the START/STOP button, and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times however, the dealer informed the contact that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System) and the recall repair was performed; however, the failure reoccurred a week later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
CAMSHAFT LIFTERS BREAK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. CYLINDER 8 MISFIRE WHEN DRIVING.
TAKATA RECALL THE RED WARNING LIGHT FOR THE AIR BAG CAME ON FOR NO REASON IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STATIONARY AND STARTED THE CAR IN MY GARAGE. I HAVE 114500 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DECELERATING AND MAKING A TURN THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF WHICH CAUSES YOU TO LOSE STEERING AND BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASIONS

IN ADDITION, THE PCM HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FIRE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,800. THE LEATHER COVERING ON THE DASH CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD IS PULLING LOOSE AND BUCKLING CAUSING THE DEFROST VENTS TO PULL UP WHICH IS CREATING A PROBLEM DEFROSTING THE WINDSHIELD. WE HAVE NOT USED ANY TYPE OF CLEANER OR LEATHER POLISH ON THIS EITHER. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE 2011 JEEP'S HAVE THIS ISSUE. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE MANUFACTURE IS GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO RATTLE AND SHAKE WHILE RUNNING. WHEN STOPPED ON A RED LIGHT THE WIPER CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE TURNED IT SELF OFF. AFTER 2 TRIES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE I SMELLED BURNED RUBBER AND OPTED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND ABANDON THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY TO WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE HAZARD LIGHTS LASTED LESS THAN 2 MINUTES BEFORE DYING COMPLETELY. I WAS STRANDED ON A 3 LANE AVENUE WITHOUT ANY HAZARD LIGHTS OR ANY PUBLIC LIGHTING. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK FINALLY CAME IN THE CAR WAS BEEN PULLED UP THE FLATBED THE REAR DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF AND ALL THE PAPERS WHERE DISPERSED THRU THE AVENUE AT NIGHT. WE HAD TO SHUT THE DOOR WITH DUCT TAPE AND TAKE IT HOME. NEXT DAY THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC WHERE HE FIRST TRIED CHANGING THE BATTERY (WHICH WAS LESS THAN 6 MONTH OLD) AND HE NOTICED THAT THE POSITIVE CABLE TURNED CHERRY RED. HE PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE BATTERY AND TO FOLLOW THE CABLES. HE FOUND A MAIN CABLE CLOSE TO THE ALTERNATOR IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT THE COVERING HAD PEALED OFF AND WAS MAKING CONTACT WITH THE BODY. HE PROCEEDED TO CHANGE THIS AND ALSO FOUND OUT THE ALTERNATOR HAD BEEN FULLY BURNED OUT (ALTHOUGH I DID NOT SEE FIRE OR SUSTANCIAL SMOKE I DID FEEL THAT NASTY PLASTIC/RUBBER SMOKE SCENT) . HE TOLD US HE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS VEHICLE HAD NOT CAUGHT FIRE DURING THIS INCIDENT DUE TO THE WIRING FAILURE. AFTER REPLACING THE CABLE, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY IT NOW SEEMS THE ECU OR OTHER ELECTRONIC COMPONENT WAS ALSO DAMAGED DURING THE INCIDENT. I HAVE LEARNED OF OTHER VEHICLES (SAME YEAR MODEL MILAGE) WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS, ONE OF THEM HAD TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FOR ITS ALTERNATOR.
TRANSMISSION COOLER AC CONDENSER COMBINATION UNIT LEAKING AT WELDS. A LOT OF THESE OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THESE FAULTY COOLERS AROUND THE INTERNET - FORUMS, YOU TUBE, ETC. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR NEEDED DUE TO HAVING TO EMPTY AND RECHARGE THE FREON SYSTEM, AS WELL AS REFILL TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH CAN ONLY BE DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL AT A PROPERLY EQUIPPED SERVICE SHOP. TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS NO OWNER DIP STICK FOR LEVEL CHECK. NOTICED FLUID LEAK ON FLOOR/GROUND THAT COULD CAUSE A SLIP OR FALL.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
MY DRIVE SHAFT IS COMING APART, I UNDERSTAND THIS IS ONE OF OVER 100 RECENTLY HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE JEEP IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE (VIBRATION AND KNOCKING SOUNDS) AND THE DELIVERY TIME ON THE REPLACEMENT IS 3 MONTHS. JEEP ARE SUGGESTING THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART AND THEREFORE NOT PROVIDING TEMPORARY TRANSPORTATION UNTIL THE NEW PART COMES IN. *JS

OUR 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING. IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS IT HAS SHUT OFF AT LEAST 1-2 TIMES A WEEK, FOR ABOUT A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES. FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FIXED IN 2014 BUT WE THINK THIS IS THE PROBLEM AGAIN. OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES LIKE KEYS NOT RECOGNIZED ARE ALSO HAPPENING BUT THE CAR SHUTTING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION IS ALARMING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS STALLED IN THE MORNING AS MY HUSBAND MAKES HIS WAY TO WORK. MY HUSBAND REPORTS IT HAPPENS OFTEN AS HE IS TRYING TO TURN AND DRIVING ON A STREET. MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND BOUGHT NEW STARTED STALLING RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS WHEN STALLED I WOULD HAVE NO POWER STEERING, OR BREAKS. FIRST HAPPENED AT ABOUT 8000 MILES, I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY THIS WAS THE FIRST OF NOW 6 TIMES IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I DID GET A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR A TIPM WHICH DECRIBES THE ISSUE VERY CLOSELY, AND YES I DID HAVE THEM DO THE RECALL 2 TIMES ACTUALLY BUT VEHICLE IS STILL STALLING RANDOMLY NEARLY CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW, BUT NOW MY CASE MANAGER FROM JEEP CUSTOMER CARE SAYS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRENTY AND ARE CHARGING ME WHEN THEY STILL CANT PROPERLY DIAGNOS THE ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 8000 MILES. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY ORIGINAL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY OR THE RECALL. IT IS JEEPS FAULT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT THE LAST 5 TIMES. I FEEL UNSAFE FOR MYSELF AND CHILDREN TO BE IN THIS JEEP, IT IS A DEATH TRAP!!!! I CAN'T SELL THE JEEP BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO KILL ANYONE ELSE. LAST TIME I WAS DRIVING I WAS GOING 55 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN TO GO ACROSS A BRIDGE. I ENDED UP IN THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC ALMOST HITTING THE GUARD RAIL. EVERYONE WAS HONKING, I PUT THE JEEP IN PARK AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON. IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. THIS IS AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE THE SECOND TIME. JEEP DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE WHO'S LIFE THEY ARE PUTTING AT RISK. I JUST WANT A PROPER DIAGNOSIS, OR MY MONEY BACK I PAID FOR THE DEATH TRAP.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED DURING DECELERATION. POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ARE LOST. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS VISIBLE AND NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES SET. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE DISAVOWS ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SEVERAL ACCOUNTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES ON THE JEEP FORUMS AND OTHER WEBSITES. DEALER CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. TWO OTHER INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION, SLOWING DOWN, APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THERE IS A RECALL FOR A FUEL PUMP RELAY DESCRIBING SIMILAR SITUATIONS BUT MY VIN SHOWS NO SUCH RECALL.
I HAD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEWEY DODGE, RAM, CHRYSLER, JEEP IN ANKENY IA ON 09/29/16 TO ADDRESS THE VISOR RECALL. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD THEY ARE LOST PART OF THE KIT NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR. I SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT ON 11/11/6 AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE STILL WAITING FOR CHRYSLER TO SEND WHAT THEY NEEDED. A MONTH AND A HALF SEEMS AN UNREASONABLY LONG TIME, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO HOW LITTLE TIME IT TAKES WHEN THE DEALER HAS TO ORDER PARTS TO ADDRESS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR THE PAST YEAR. TWO YEARS AGO MY FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND THAT WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME AND WAS ALSO A RECALL SITUATION. SINCE THEN THE SAME FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES AND THE SAME PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURRING. MY CAR WILL STALL AND NOT START. AFTER THE FIFTH FUEL PUMP I CALLED THE COMPANY AND OPENED A CASE AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS HAVE LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE AND WERE UNABLE TO DETECT THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN THE SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE AND I CAN'T SEEM TO GET ANY HELP. PLEASE HELP!

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TWO OF MY ALTERNATOR DIODES FAILED CAUSING SMOKING, BURNING SMELL, AND VEHICLE TO STOP MID DRIVE. RECALL P60 DOES NOT COVER MY CAR BECAUSE IT IS ONLY FOR 2012 TO 2014 ALTHOUGH IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME FAILURE.
TODAY AS I WAS LEAVING WORK MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I PRESS THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE KEPT GOING. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY MOMENT AS I WAS EXITING A GATE AND ALMOST WENT STRAIGHT INTO THE ON COMING TRAFFIC. DEALER IS NOT GETTING PARTS TO FIX PROBLEM. I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS 3 OR 4 TIMES AND EACH TIME THE DEALER STATES THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. THE ISSUE IS THE SUN VISOR WIRING. RECALL NOTICE: R71/NHTSA 15V-879.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY GOING 55MPH COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE BREAK BOOSTER (P14) INDICATING THAT CORROSION MAY OCCUR AND WATER COULD BE INGESTED. CHRYSLER PUT A SHIELD (BAND AID) TO PREVENT CORROSION. THIS RECALL WAS PERFORMED AND MARKED COMPLETE ON MY VEHICLE. ONE YEAR AND 7 MONTHS LATER MY BRAKE BOOSTER FAILS AND THE EVER SO HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY(THAT WAS SARCASM BECAUSE THEY WERE HORRIBLE) ASSOCIATES AT MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSIS, DETERMINING THAT CORROSION WAS NOT CAUSE OF MY BREAK BOOSTER FAILING. SO NOW I HAVE MY PERSONAL MECHANIC REPLACE THE PART. THE PART ORDEED DID NOT FIT. ALSO, THE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING. SO NOW I NEED BOTH PARTS, WHICH WILL COST ME IN THE UPPER AREA OF $290, NOR INCLUDING TAX. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER PART. THE WHOLE PART IS DEFFECTIVE FOR THE MAKE, MODLE AND YEAR. CHRYSLER IS SIMPLY NEEDS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE PART. NOT PUT A SHIELD(BAND AID) IT HOPING IT WILL HOLD. I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER OUT THERE WHO IS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE.
MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT HER BRAKE PEDAL GOING FARTHER DOWN AND CAR TAKES LONGER DISTANCE TO STOP. A COUPLE TIMES SHE SAID THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR SO SHE PUMPED THE PEDAL AND SAID SHE WAS VERY LUCKY IT STOPPED RIGHT BEFORE SHE WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. BRAKE LIGHT THEN WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. AFRAID TO DRIVE IT WE BROUGHT IT TO DEALER. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE BRAKE BOOSTER AT MY EXPENSE. WE HAD A RECALL DONE PREVIOUSLY ON THE BOOSTER BECAUSE THE BOOSTER WOULD GET WATER IN IT SO THEIR FIX WAS TO PUT A GUARD OVER THE ALREADY DAMAGED RUSTED BOOSTER. IF TESTED GOOD AT THAT TIME, THEY WASHED THEIR HANDS OF ANY DAMAGED LIKE RUST THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE AND CAUSE THE BOOSTER TO DO THIS. THAT'S LIKE PUTTING SHINGLES OVER A BAD ROOF THAT LEAKED AND IS ROTTED. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ACCIDENTS THAT COULD AND EVENTUALLY WILL HAPPEN. I AM SURE SOME HAVE HAPPENED ALREADY. THE NUMBER ONE THING ON A VEHICLE YOU DO NOT TRY TO SHORT CUT IS BRAKES!!!!
WHEN THE JEEP WAS STARTED IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. ALSO THE CAR COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. ALL OF THE THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH WERE ALSO ON. SO THE CAR WAS LEFT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING BUT NOTHING ELSE WORKING. THE COOLING FAN FOR THE ENGINE WOULD NOT WORK SO THE CAR STARTED TO OVER HEAT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND ASKED FOR SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE RESPONSE WAS TO TAKE OFF THE BATTERY CABLE. THE BATTERY IS UNDER THE SEAT AND CAN NOT BE REMOVED WITH OUT TOOLS. AT THIS POINT THE CAR OVER HEATED AND WAS PUSHING OUT COOLANT ONTO THE GROUND. I FINALLY HAD TO OPEN THE FUSE / RELAY BOX IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND START PULLING RELAYS UNTIL THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. I HAD NO OTHER WAY OF GETTING THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING AND THE FEAR WAS SOMETHING WOULD GET HOT ENOUGH TO CATCH ON FIRE. ALL OF THIS RESULTED IN OVER $1600.00 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE.
THE LEATHER COVERING THE TOP OF DASH UNDER WINDSHIELD HAS COME LOOSE, DISLODGING THE DEFROSTER VENT AND BLOCKING AIRFLOW FROM THE DEFROSTER. DEFROSTER VENT CANNOT BE RESEATED BECAUSE OF MIS-SHAPED LEATHER. WHILE DRIVING DURING EARLY MORNING, CONDENSATION ON WINDSHIELD COULD NOT BE CLEARED BY DEFROSTER BECAUSE NO AIRFLOW WAS REACHING THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND PULL THE LEATHER AWAY FROM THE VENT OPENING TO ALLOW WINDSHIELD TO CLEAR. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, THIS WOULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, BUT CANNOT TELL ME WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED. THEY WILL NOT REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE LEATHER STARTED COMING LOOSE 2 MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS CASES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM IN ONLINE JEEP FORUMS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL VINYL SHOP, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIX WITHOUT REMOVING THE WINDSHIELD; WINDSHIELD CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT BREAKING IT. NEW WINDSHIELD FOR OVERLAND MODEL WITH RAIN SENSOR IS OVER $1,000. WINTER IS APPROACHING, BUT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF ICE AND SNOW BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.
