ON DECEMBER 26, 2014 I WAS REAR ENDED IN MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO MY ROAD. I WAS SLOWED DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH OR LESS AS I WAS TURNING AND GOT HIT BY A LARGE PICK-UP TRUCK. FIRST OF ALL, I AM HAPPY THAT MY JEEP TOLERATED THE FORCE FROM THE REAR END COLLISION AS WELL AS IT DID, AND IT EVEN TOOK BOUNCING OFF A GUIDE RAIL PRETTY WELL TOO; HOWEVER, THE SAFETY FEATURE IN THE HEADREST IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. SINCE I HAD NO FRONT OR SIDE IMPACT, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, THE AIRBAG IN THE HEADREST MADE THE HEADREST SLAM MY HEAD FORWARD CAUSING WHIPLASH AND A NECK INJURY. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE; HOWEVER, IT CAUSED ME MORE INJURY. I WAS NEVER AWARE THAT MY CAR HAD THIS FEATURE. SEVERAL DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I DECIDED TO LOOK IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL AND THERE IS NOTHING IN THERE REGARDING THE HEADRESTS. IT ONLY MENTIONS THE FRONT AIRBAGS, CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND SEAT AIRBAGS. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTOR WASN'T EVEN FAMILIAR WITH THIS FEATURE WHEN HE CAME OUT TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE AIRBAG IN THE HEADREST AND THE INJURY THAT IT COULD CAUSE, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE HEADRESTS REMOVED FROM MY CAR AND REPLACED THEM WITH STANDARD HEADRESTS! SINCE THE ACCIDENT, I AM DEALING WITH HEADACHES AND AM GOING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR MY NECK INJURY. I SERIOUSLY HOPE NO ONE ELSE SUFFERS FROM THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" THAT I WASN'T EVEN MADE AWARE OF AS THE OWNER. *TR
MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BEGAN STALLING WHILE DRIVING IN DECEMBER 2014. THESE OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES. IT HAS ALWAYS STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 50 MPH. IT HAS STALLED ON THE FREEWAY 2 TIMES AND I HAVE BEEN SPARED A SERIOUS TRAFFIC COLLISION DUE TO LIGHT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE NEVER THROWS A CODE WHEN IT STALLS. THERE IS NOTHING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN DO FOR THESE "PHANTOM" OCCURRENCES. THE TIPM HAS BEEN REPLACED SINCE THAT CAN SOMETIMES BE THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE STALLING CONTINUES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS STALLING ISSUE AND THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHAT WILL IT TAKE BEFORE CHRYSLER ADDRESSES THIS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM? CURRENTLY, MY VEHICLE IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO PICKING UP MY VEHICLE SINCE THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS LOOMING LIKE A BLACK CLOUD OVER MY HEAD.
WE RECEIVED THREE RECALL NOTICES P14, P36, P54 IN OCTOBER. THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD US ON NOVEMBER 1 THAT WE WOULD BE CALLED WITHIN 6 WEEKS WHEN THE PARTS HAD ARRIVED. NEVER RECEIVING A CALL, I CALLED ON DECEMBER 19 AND WAS TOLD THAT WE WERE #42 ON A WAIT LIST TO BE CALLED WHEN THE DEALER HAD TIME TO SERVICE THE CAR,PERHAPS AS LATE AS APRIL. THIS DOES NOT SEEM THE "REASONABLE TIME" MENTIONED ON THE RECALL NOTICE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
SERPENTINE BELT FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT HAD BROKEN UNTIL I LOOKED LATER, BUT I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS VERY CLOSE TO HOME AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE SINCE THE BELT ALSO DRIVES THE WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR. *TR

REPAIR OF BLOWN FRONT RUNNING LIGHT REVELED DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL SOCKET THAT WAS OVERHEATING AND CREATES A SAFETY FIRE HAZARD. BULB SOCKET BADLY BURNED AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT DUE TO FAULTY PART. THIS IS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4 OVERLAND WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES. REPAIR MECHANIC DESCRIBED ELECTRICAL SOCKET AS A LEVEL 1 SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

I HAVE HAD MY JEEP WORKED ON TWICE TO FIX THE TIPM AT BILLY CRAFT CHRYSLER JEEP. IN AUGUST THEY ADVISED THEY WERE DOING A TEMPORARY FIX. ON DECEMBER 16, 2014 THEY INDICATED THAT THEY COMPLETED RECALL P54 AND INPUT THIS INTO THE SYSTEM AS COMPLETE - MY VEHICLE HAS NOW STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. IN ADDITION WHEN THE TEMPORARY FIX WAS DONE IN AUGUST THIS CAUSED THE AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SENSOR TO STOP WORKING - BILLY CRAFT STATES THIS IS A COINCIDENCE AND UNRELATED. DESPITE INDICATING THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED IN ITS ENTIRETY, I FOUND OUT THIS WEEK BILLY CRAFT CHRYSLER JEEP DID NOT IN FACT COMPLETE THE RECALL DESPITE TELLING ME THEY DID AND INPUTTING INTO THE CORPORATE JEEP SYSTEM THAT THIS HAD BEEN COMPLETED AS OF 12/16/14. I AM NOW HAVING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AGAIN TO HAVE THE ACTUAL FIX COMPLETED. IF THERE ARE RECALLS MADE, THE SHOPS PERFORMING THE RECALL FIXES SHOULD MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF INTEGRITY AND ACTUALLY COMPLETE THESE OR THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN AGAINST THEIR BUSINESS. I AM NOW WORKING WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER AND WILL BE TRADING MY JEEP IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ON THE ROADS IS NOT WORTH THIS. *TR
VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO START. TRIES TO TURN OVER BUT WON'T. HAD HAPPENED VERY INTERMITTENTLY FOR PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. OVER PAST MONTH HAS HAPPENED ALMOST EVERY TIME I TRY TO START THE CAR. USED TO ONLY DO IT ONCE AND THEN IT WOULD START ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT BUT IS NOW DOING THE "TRY BUT WON'T START" THING 6 AND 7 TIMES IN A ROW BEFORE IT WILL FINALLY TURN OVER. NOW SMELLING RAW FUEL AFTER IT STARTS DUE TO IT TRYING SO MANY TIMES TO CRANK. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE SAME EXCUSE AS MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE..."WE DON'T HAVE THE PARTS YET." I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS 2 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS. IN ADDITION TO THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES IF IT BEGINS STALLING IN TRAFFIC LIKE OTHERS ARE REPORTING, IT'S COMPLETELY TRASHING MY STARTER/BATTERY/ETC AS IT SITS THERE AND TRIES TO CRANK MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IN MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS I HAVE HAD TONS OF RUN INS WITH THEM OVER WARRANTY WORK DUE TO MULTIPLE PROBLEMS MY JEEP HAS HAD. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING STALLING A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE AT LOW SPEEDS. ALSO FAILURE TO START AND A FAN LIKE NOISE COMING FROM AROUND THE FUEL PUMP. CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, BUT I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED SINCE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIPM AND THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. THE DEALERSHIP IS SCHEDULING 2 MONTHS OUT HOPING THEY WOULD HAVE THE PART BY THEN, WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH 2 KIDS IN A CAR THAT SHUTS OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH. *TR

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 2 MONTHS FOR PARTS FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE INITIAL HARD START FOR MONTHS. IT ALWAYS HAS EVENTUALLY STARTED AFTER TIME AND NOW MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS STARTED TO STALL FROM THIS FAULTY RELAY ALSO. I WAS HEADING HOME ON THE LOCAL HIGHWAY MOVING BETWEEN 65-70MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AS I SLOWED TO AROUND 45MPH TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY I WAS APPROACHING AN EXIT AND WAS ABLE TO MANAGE TO GET OFF SAFELY. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN AND GET BACK HOME. TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN AT SPEED AND LOSE YOUR POWER STEERING AND ALL IS VERY DANGEROUS. CHRYSLER & THE DEALERS ALL SAY THEY HAVE NOT A CLUE WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL. THESE JEEPS ARE JUNK !! THERE ARE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THEM ITS NOT FUNNY. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND I HAVE MISSED SEVERAL DAYS OF WORK DUE TO THE JEEP NOT STARTING/STALLING ETC. I DON'T HAVE ENDLESS MONEY TO RENT CARS AND SPEND ON COSTLY REPAIRS. FURTHERMORE, THE RECALL FIX OF MOUNTING AN EXTERIOR FUEL PUMP RELAY TO THE TIPM AND BYPASSING THE FAULTY ONE BURIED DEEP INSIDE IS THE CHEAPEST WAY OUT FOR CHRYSLER. WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING IS INSTALLING ALL NEW TIPM`S FOR CUSTOMERS WITH WORKING RELAYS. I DIDN'T PAY $40K FOR A JEEP TO HAVE IT COBBED UP WITH CHEAP RECALL FIXES. *TR

THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT SHREDDED AND A STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

MY VEHICLE IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING/STALLING, AND SOUNDS LIKE THE WATER PUMP AND/OR ALTERNATOR IS FAILING. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS IS ALL TIED TO P54/NHTSA 14V-530. THE TIPM PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE I RECEIVED THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE BACK IN OCTOBER 2014. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE PARTS ARE NOT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR WEEKS, POSSIBLY MONTHS. I CALLED JEEP/CHRYSLER AND THEY ALSO SAID THAT IS THE CAUSE OF MY PROBLEMS AND THEY HAVE NO DATE THAT RECALL REPLACEMENT/CORRECTION PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. I ASKED THEM WHAT I SHOULD DO SINCE I'M DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T WANT TO START (TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS), THAT STALLS OUT, AND THAT OTHER COMPONENTS UNDER THE HOOD ARE BEING AFFECTED. THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER ANY TOWING, OR RENTAL COSTS, AND HAD NO GUIDANCE ON WHAT TO DO BESIDES "GOOD LUCK". THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, I CAN BECOME STRANDED, THE CAR COULD STALL (POTENTIALLY WHILE DRIVING AND THIS CAR IS ALWAYS ON HIGHWAY HIGH SPEED DRIVING), AND I NOW HAVE OTHER PARTS UNDER THE HOOD THAT THIS ISSUE IS TAXING (ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, WATER PUMP, AND I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT ELSE). WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT I'M FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A RECALL THAT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE? I CAN'T EVEN PAY TO GET THIS FIXED, THERE IS NO SOLUTION AT THIS TIME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE VEHICLE IS NOT RECALLED ENTIRELY AND TAKEN OFF THE ROAD, OR THAT IF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE THERE IS NO RECOURSE. FIRST INCIDENT WAS: ~11/24/2014 TOOK TO MOTHER LODE MOTORS, SONORA, CA SECOND INCIDENT WAS: 3-09-2015 TOOK TO MOTOR LODE MOTORS FOR RECALL P54/ NHTSA 14V-530 ( TIPM); TOOK TO CENTRAL VALLEY MOTORS IN MODESTO, CA MY JEEP WOULD NOT START. THE STARTING MOTOR CONTINUED TO TURN OVER EVEN WHEN I STOPPED PRESSING IT. BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A JEEP DEALER WITHIN 70 MILES, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER (DODGE) WHO CLAIMED TO BE ABLE TO MECHANICALLY WORK ON JEEPS. THEY USED TO BE A JEEP DEALER. I TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM. I LEFT IT OVER NIGHT. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO RESET THE COMPUTER. ($300). NO PARTS REPLACED. FOUR MONTHS LATER (3/9/2015) , THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, ONLY IT WAS WORSE. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME GARAGE, AND LEFT IT OVER NIGHT. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THE WHOLE COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. ($1507). I HAD AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION OCCUR ON NOVEMBER 15, 2014 WITH OUR 2011 GRAND CHEROKEE. AROUND 7 P.M., I WAS MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE 95 SOUTH FROM 332, THE NEWTOWN, PA EXIT. I DID A HARD ACCELERATION TO AVOID TRAFFIC BRINGING UP THE REAR. THE ENGINE THEN ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY ... SO FAST THAT THE TACHOMETER WAS PINNED TO THE RIGHT SIDE ... INTO THE RED ZONE NEAR 7K. A LATER CHECK OF THE VEHICLE MAXIMUM SPEED ON THE GARMIN GPS REVEALED IT PEAKED AT 97 M.P.H. WITH MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE ENGINE WAS PINNED TO MAXIMUM REVS. I HONESTLY THOUGHT IT WOULD DISINTEGRATE. IN THE SPAN OF A FEW SECONDS, I KNEW NOT TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AS I WOULD HAVE LOST STEERING. I HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL, TO AT LEAST STOP THE SPEEDING. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV OUT OF CONTROL. I BELIEVE I WAS KICKING THE GAS PEDAL, AND THE ENGINE EVENTUALLY RELEASED ITS GRIP ON SPEED AND RETURNED TO NEAR-IDLE, UPON WHICH I RE-ENGAGED TO DRIVE. IF A CAR WERE ANYWHERE AHEAD OR NEAR ME, A DEVASTATING WRECK WOULD HAVE BEEN THE RESULT. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE REEDMAN-TOLL SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN LANGHORNE, PA. I FIND IT DISTRESSING THAT NOTHING IN THE JEEP 'BLACK BOX' RECORDING SYSTEM WOULD HAVE A RECORD OF THIS POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT. THE REEDMAN SERVICE ADVISOR SPECULATED THAT I MAY HAVE 'RESET' THE SOFTWARE IF AND WHEN I WAS KICKING THE ACCELERATOR WHILE THE EVENT WAS UNDER WAY.
