I GOT A RECALL NOTICE ON JUNE 2, 2014 FOR A POSSIBLE BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE. I CALLED SOUTHERN MAINE MOTORS (WHERE I PURCHASED THE JEEP BAND NEW) ON JUNE 2, 2014, JUNE 20, 2014 AND JULY 15, 2014 AND ALL OF THOSE TIMES I CALLED THEY SAY THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN. SO I CALLED THE NHTSA THE FIRST PART OF JULY, 2014 AND COMPLAINED AND THEY SENT ME A FOLLOW-UP LETTER - THIS HAS STILL NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. ON JULY 15, 2014 I WAS PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT RECALL AFTER RECALL ON THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I CALLED ANN ARBOR, MI OFFICE AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE INFACT PARTS SENT TO SOUTHERN MAINE MOTORS AND I STILL HAVE YET TO BE IN TO GET THIS FIXED, NOW WINTER IS COMING. WHAT IS WRONG WITH CHRYSLER? YOU WOULD THINK THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO RECALL YOUR PRODUCT, THEY WOULD HAVE THE PARTS IN TO TAKE CARE OF US. I WANT THIS RESOLVED ASAP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.
THIS SITUATION HAS HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES BETWEEN JUNE-DEC 2014 ON OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUMMIT 4X4 ECODIESEL. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP A SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING FLASHES ON DASH BOARD. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO CONTINUE FORWARD THERE IS NO POWER AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE FORWARD. ON SOME OCCASIONS THE CAR HAD TO BE RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT OPERATED NORMALLY AGAIN. ON OTHER OCCASIONS THE CAR REGAINS ACCELERATION CAPABILITY AFTER A SHORT 10 TO 15 SECOND DELAY. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALER FOUND NO ERROR CODES IN THE SYSTEM WHEN DIAGNOSTICS WERE RUN. WE ARE TAKING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN ON 12/16/14. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR THAT WE ARE NOT IN THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED OR THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT STOP SIGNS OR TRAFFIC LIGHTS. WE WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE WE ARE INVOLVED IN A CRASH. *TR
THE GEAR SELECT LEVER IS DANGEROUS. FROM THE D POSITION, PUTTING THE CAR INTO PARK MOST OFTEN IT STOPS IN R. THINKING YOU HAVE SELECTED PARK AND BEGIN TO EXIT THE CAR IS ACTUALLY ON REVERSE. I OWNED A 2011 SAME MODEL NO PROBLEM, UPGRADING TO THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS! THERE IS NO FEEL AS TO ENGAGING PARK, SINCE THEY CHANGED THE DESIGN TO THIS ELECTRONIC SHIFTER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ONLY RECEIVED ONE PART PER WEEK FOR REPAIRS; THEREFORE, THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE PERFORMED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. THE CONTACT WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
DURING A VACATION TRIP, WE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A REMOTE MOUNTAIN ROAD TURN-OUT AREA TO TAKE A SCENIC PHOTO. RETURNED TO VEHICLE, STARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES AND WHAT METHODS WERE USED, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ONLY POP-BACK INTO PARK. ON SAFECAR.GOV, I NOTED PREVIOUS 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE COMPLAINTS CONCERNED WITH THE TRANSMISSION POPPING ONLY INTO NEUTRAL; BUT, FOR US IT WAS POPPING ONLY INTO PARK. THE TOWING COMPANY DID OVER $3,000 WORTH OF FRONT-END DAMAGE TO VEHICLE IN ATTEMPTING TO TOW IT WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS FROZEN IN PARK. ON THE SAME TRIP, THE DASHBOARD CONTROLS WOULD GO COMPLETELY DARK ON AN APPARENT INFREQUENT RANDOM BASIS. WE ALSO NOTED CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATION PROBLEM WITH UNEXPECTED AND OR APPARENTLY RANDOM UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATIONS BEYOND DRIVER'S EXPECTATIONS OR IMMEDIATE CONTROL. BOTH OF THESE WHICH FRIGHTENED US. ANOTHER STRANGE THING WE NOTED WAS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CHANGED GEAR (PRIMARILY IN LOWER GEARS), THE VEHICLE JERKED IN A ROUGH MANNER BEYOND WHAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED IN ANY OTHER MODERN VEHICLES. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REQUIRES TIRE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ABOUT EVERY TWO WEEKS BECAUSE OF LOW PRESSURE IN ONE OR MORE WHEELS. DEALER EITHER CANNOT OR DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT BUT HOPES FOR A JEEP ADVISORY OR RECALL. OWNER BELIEVES ELECTRONIC CONNECTIONS IN WHEELS ARE FAULTY AND ONE OR MORE LEAKS AIR. CONSTANT LEAKAGE OF AIR REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL DRIVING HAZARD. AFTER 12 FLASH UPDATES TO ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS AND PAST FAILURE OF ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, IT IS CLEAR THAT ALL ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEMS WITHOUT REDUNDANCY REPRESENT LIFE THREATENING POTENTIAL FAILURES IN ALL SYTEMS. WHEN SUCH FAILURE OCCUR, OWNERS WILL BE UNABLE TO PROVE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. THE PERFECT CRIME!
WHEN DRIVING AND NEEDING TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, TRANSMISSION SEIZES AND HAS A SIGNIFICANTLY DELAYED RESPONSE. HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE LEFT TURN THROUGH TRAFFIC, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC CIRCLES AND HIGHWAYS AS WELL AS SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING ON A HIGHWAY. VERY DANGEROUS. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT A BREAK IN PASSING TRAFFIC. HAD MY TWIN 2 YEAR OLDS IN THE CAR AND THE CAR SEIZED AFTER I HAD MOVED SLIGHTLY INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I JUST KEPT PRESSING DOWN HARDER AND FINALLY THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND RESPONDED BUT WAS VERY VERY CLOSE TO GETTING HIT. IT THEN HAPPENED TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A TRAFFIC CIRCLE. THIS TIME I WASN'T AS AGGRESSIVE BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID IT WOULD LOCK UP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE SO I CAN'T CLEARLY LIST ALL THE INCIDENTS. I JUST NOW HAVE TO DRIVE KNOWING I CAN'T MAKE QUICK OR ABRUPT ACCELERATIONS. HAVE BEEN TO DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES WITH THIS COMPLAINT AND THEY JUST SAY THEY WILL UPDATE SOFTWARE. ISSUE STILL THERE. ANXIOUS FOR LEASE TO BE OVER.

THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THE REMEDY PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JULY OF 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
AIRBAGS SYSTEM FAILED AND RENDERED CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLED EVEN WHEN PASSENGER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. AT THE SAME TIME ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED WHILE BEING IN USE WHICH POTENTIALLY COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. DROVE 5H HOURS HOME AND THEN DROPPED THE CAR AT THE DEALER. ISSUE CONNECTED WITH FAILED ORC MODULE. NUMEROUS SIMILAR INCIDENTS REPORTED BY OTHER DRIVERS ON INTERNET FORUM. FAILURE ALWAYS RESULTS IN LOSS OF AIRBAGS, SEAT BELTS PRETENSION, ADAPTIVE HEAD RESTRAIN AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN AND STARTED GETTING WARNING SAYING THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG NEEDED SERVICED AND DRIVES SIDE SEAT BELT NOT BEING DETECTED. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AN APPT., TOOK JEEP IN ON FIRST AVAILABLE DATE AND MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS A MODULE THAT HAD TO BE ORDERED AND THEIR WERE ONLY 24 OF THEM IN THE COUNTRY, I ASKED IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT, WILL THE AIR BAD DEPLOY AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW, (THAT BEING MY MAIN CONCERN). HE ALSO TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND HAS TO ORDER PART FOR THAT ALSO. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE THEY ORDERED PARTS AND THEY ARE NOT IN YET. OBVIOUSLY THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T CONCERNED ENOUGH TO EXPEDITE THE ORDER OR GIVE ME ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE WHILE WAITING ON PARTS. I'M WONDERING, HAVE THERE BEEN ANY OTHER REPORTS FOR 2014 JEEPS WITH THESE ISSUES? *TR
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE WHEN ON VACATION AWAY FROM HOME, AND MESSAGE ABOUT EXHAUST FILTER FULL CAME ON. MESSAGE INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH I HAD ALREADY BEEN DOING FOR HOURS. SUDDENLY A RED LIGHTENING BOLT SYMBOL APPEARS ON DASH WITH MESSAGE STATING TO SERVICE THROTTLE BODY. VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO 3RD GEAR AND DECELERATED SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING. LIMITED CONTROL OF VEHICLE SPEED TO UNDER 20MPH IN TRAFFIC FLOW THAT WAS GREATER THAN 70MPH. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. VEHICLE RETURNED ONLY TO HAVE SAME INCIDENT OCCUR AGAIN AROUND JUNE 9TH. THIS TIME IT WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO INSIST THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS DUE TO THE WRONG OIL INSTALLED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM A WEEK EARLIER. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. NOW ON JULY 1, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. NO WARNING. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED SUDDENLY FROM 50MPH TO 5MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. WILL SCHEDULE TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AS IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
ON A RECENT LONG TRIP (500 MILES EACH WAY) A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION POPPED UP WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE'S PHONE CALLED FOR SERVICE, FOLLOWED BY THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND SEAT BELT INDICATOR WENT OFF. I PULLED INTO A JEEP DEALER RIGHT BEFORE CLOSING AND THE TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS IN THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE SOMEWHERE BUT IT COULDN'T BE FIXED EASILY AND THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK-ORDER. THE CAR IS DRIVE-ABLE BUT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS INOPERATIVE. I HAVE SINCE SPOKEN TO THE DEALER IN MY HOME-STATE AND CONFIRMED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM POPPING UP ON THE 2014 MODEL YEAR GRAND CHEROKEE AND THAT EVEN REPLACING THE MODULE WAS A GUESS AT BEST AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. SO LONG STORY SHORT I HAVE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES WITH A MALFUNCTIONING/INOPERATIVE AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS MAY OR MAY NOT BE FIXABLE. *TR
AS OF YESTERDAY I HAVE HAD MY 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE FOR 1 YEAR. I BOUGHT IT WITH 6 MILES ON IT BRAND NEW. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 16 TIMES FOR NUMEROUS ISSUES. 4 OF WHICH WAS RELATED TO THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THERE WERE 3 FLASH UPDATES FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND NONE OF THE ADDRESSED HE PROBLEM. THE ROUGH SHIFTING, JERKING OF THE VEHICLE AND EXTREMELY HIGH RUNNING RPM'S MUST BE DOING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE POWER TRAIN. THERE IS NO SMOOTH SHIFTING FROM 1-2-3 NOR IS THERE FROM 3-2-1. GETTING ON AND OFF THE HIGHWAY IS ALWAYS INTERESTING. TRYING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE FEELS BOGGED DOWN AND TAKES SOME TIME TO SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR. YOU ARE GIVING IT GAS AND IT JUST IS STUCK IN 3-4 OR 5TH GEAR AND YOU ARE PUTTING ON THE HIGHWAY TRYING TO GET ON AND THEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE TRANSMISSION UNLEASHES AND THE CAR JUST TAKES OFF. GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY ON AN EXIT RAMP ANY TIME OF SLOW DOWN (FAST OR GRADUALLY) THE CAR JUST WHINES AND THE RPM'S ARE WAY IN THE RED, SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY. AGAIN BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THAT SOLD IT TO ME FOR ALL THE FLASH UPDATES AND ANOTHER VISIT TO SAY IT IS STILL NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND THEY TOLD ME TO RUN IT IN SPORT MODE OR TURN OFF THE ECO BUTTON. WELL WHAT GOOD IS GIVING YOU THE OPTION FOR A ECO BUTTON AND CAN'T EVEN USE IT....NOT TO MENTION IT REALLY DOESN'T ADDRESS THE UNDERLINING PROBLEM WITH THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH HE CAR, JEEP AND THE DEALER DUE TO THEIR LACK OF SUPPORT. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE ON THIS NEW RELEASED VEHICLE AND NO ONE WANTS TO FIX IT UNTIL SOMEONE UNFORTUNATELY GETS HURT FROM FAULTY OPERATION OF THE POWER TRAIN. I NOW HAVE ABOUT 10,000 MILES AND STILL LIKE FROM DAY ONE I AM HAVING ALL THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *TR
PURCHASED BRAND NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 4X4 WITH A 03/14 BUILD DATE ON MAY 26, 2014. ON MAY 30TH, 2014.....5 DAYS LATER......NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF GREASE ON THE INSIDE OF BOTH FRONT RIMS. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, CAME ACROSS A BLOG ON JEEPFORUM.COM THAT DESCRIBED AND PROVIDED PICTURES OF OTHERS WITH SAME BUILD DATE THAT HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. NOTIFIED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE HOTLINE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF ISSUE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A LOOSE CLAMP ON THE FRONT CV DRIVESHAFT AXLES. BOTH SIDES HAD TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO BE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE AFFECTING A LARGER NUMBER OF JEEP AND DODGE OWNERS. HOW MANY INDIVIDUALS NEED TO DIE/BE HURT FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED FOR THIS FACTORY DEFECT? I HAD A RECALL ON MY BRAKE BOOSTER..WHICH HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO THREE MONTHS AGO. EACH TIME I GET THE ANSWER __YOUR NAME IS STILL ON THE LIST. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HOLD-UP IS , BUT IF ITS A HAZARD TO ME OR MY FAMILY I NEED IT FIX... *TR
BOTH CV AXLE BOOTS LEAKED ALL THE GREASE OUT. HAD THE AXLES REPLACED WITH NEW PARTS FROM THE MFG, AND BOTH BOOTS LEAKED AGAIN AFTER ONLY 475 MILES OR LESS. APPEARS THAT THE BANDS ON THE BOOTS ARE NOT TIGHT ENOUGH, OR THE BOOTS MAY BE TOO SHORT. THEY SEEM TO PULL APART IF WHEELS ARE STEERED CLOSE TO MAXIMUM RADIUS. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE GREASE IS SLUNG ALL OVER THE WHEELS AND ONTO THE FRONT DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE LOSS OF BRAKES OR SEVERE BRAKING ISSUES THAT CAN LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT TOLD ME NO RECALL IS CURRENT. THEY CALLED MY DEALER IN WILMINGTON NC, AND I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE. THESE WILL BE THE THIRD SET OF CV AXLES. THE JEEP FORUMS ONLINE ARE FULL OF THIS ISSUE. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLES BUILT AROUND MARCH/APRIL 2014. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH A RECOGNIZED APPROVED FIX. THERE ARE PROBABLY SEVERAL VEHICLES THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS AND THE OWNERS ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM AS IT REQUIRES YOU TO LOOK FOR IT. DANGEROUS. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 4X4 ON JUNE 2ND 2013. SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WHICH ARE A CONCERN TO MY SAFETY AND OTHER JEEP DRIVERS.. I HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED THE RECALL DUE TO THE BRAKES AND WAS TOLD BY MY JEEP DEALER AND ANOTHER JEEP DEALER THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY CONCERN. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AT HIS TIME. THIS CONCERNS ME GREATLY. I HAVE ALSO BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH INTERMITTENTLY BLACKS OUT WHEN DRIVING. LAST WEEK, I EXPERIENCED MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON AND REMAINING ON. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOW ADVISED ME THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE HAD TO REMOVE THE SEAT AND STILL STRUGGLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THEY DID ADVISE ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND NOT SAFE FOR DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I WAS ADVISED TODAY THAT THEY DIAGNOSED THE AIRBAG SITUATION BUT WILL NOT HAVE THE PARTS UNTIL JUNE 13TH. I HAVE DRIVEN MY VEHICLE 21,000 MILES IN ONE YEAR AND BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH ALL THESE ELECTRICAL ISSUES I AM EXPERIENCING. ON MONDAY, MAY 26, 2014 A SEAT BELT WARNING APPEARED ON THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY AND A CHIME RANG FOR 10 MINUTES OR SO. BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT WERE BELTED IN. 3. ON MONDAY, MAY 26, 2014 THE CRUISE CONTROL BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY SHOWED "CRUISE CONTROL UNAVAILABLE." IN THE PAST THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW) HAS SHOWN PHANTOM ALERTS, TELLING ME TO "BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE!" EVEN THOUGH THERE NO VEHICLES OR OBJECTS IN FRONT OF THE JEEP. AT OTHER TIMES, THE FCW SHOWED NO ALERT EVEN THOUGH ANOTHER VEHICLE SUDDENLY APPEARED IN FRONT OF THE JEEP. *TR

VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN IT VIOLENTLY JERKED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT THE NUMBER 6 REMAINED NEXT TO THE 'D' GEAR INDICATOR. WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE ROARED BUT THE CAR BARELY MOVED. THE NUMBER 6 REMAINED ON. TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW JEEP, I NOTICED A GREASE ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE OTHER THREE WHEELS WERE NORMAL. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, I COULD SEE THAT THE CV BOOT HAD COME APART AND GREASE WAS LEAKING OUT OF IT AND ONTO THE WHEEL, AXLE, SHOCKS AND EVERY OTHER COMPONENT SURROUNDING THE LEAK. I AM SPECIFICALLY CONCERNED THAT THE GREASE COULD GET ON THE BRAKE DISCS, CAUSING FOR DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE AND I WOULD NEED A NEW AXLE. AT AROUND 1200 MILES, I NOTICED GREASE ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. AFTER LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE I SAW THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AXLE BOOT CLAMP HAS FAILED, RESULTING IN THE BOOT COMING OFF THE AXLE AND SPRAYING AXLE GREASE ALL OVER THE WHEEL, SUSPENSION AND BRAKES. *TR
