TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S HEAD REST INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT A CRASH. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ELMWOOD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 625 TAUNTON AVE, EAST PROVIDENCE, RI 02914, (401) 438-0400, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAD REST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
MY 6.4 HEMI HAD A LIFTER FAILURE. IT HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAIN OIL CHANGES EVERY 3/5700 MILES. 1000 MILES AGO HAD THE OIL CHANGE. AS IT GOT WARMER THE ENGINE HAD A 'TICK' NOISE. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT A VERY COMMON LIFTER ISSUE HAS HAPPEN. I AM SHY 3 MONTHS POST WARRANTY. TEAM SRT CLAIMED IT CAN BE NORMAL MAINTENANCE FOR THE LIFTERS TO FAIL AND WIPE OUT THE CAM. THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. GOOGLE SEARCH HEMI LIFTER ISSUE. YOU'LL SEE TONS OF CASES.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST POPPED FORWARD ABOUT 4 IN WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT. THE PLASTIC PIECES HOLDING THE STEEL PIN ARE BROKEN, SO IT IS UNREPAIRABLE WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE HEADREST. I'M VERY THANKFUL THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE I WAS DRIVING, BUT CONCERNS ME THAT IT COULD HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE I AM DRIVING.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 20V475000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 20V699000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (200 AUTOMALL DR, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,704. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
PASSENGER HEADREST DEPLOYED
MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT DRIVER SIDE AHR HEADREST DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THERE WAS NO COLLISION AT ALL AND THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A COLLISION. IT MADE A VERY LOUD POP SOUND AND YOU COULD HEAR THE PLASTIC PARTS IN SIDE THE HEADREST BREAK. YOU CAN NOT ENGAGE THE HEADREST BACK INTO ITS NORMAL LOCKED POSITION SO THAT IT IS NOT DEPLOYED OUT. I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT FIAT @800-247-9753. I CALLED THEM AND EXPLAINED MY SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS HEADREST AND TOLD THEM I WANTED THEM TO COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND SAID A SERVICE SPECIALIST WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT ME BACK IN 24-48 HOURS TO DISCUSS THEM COVERING THE SAFETY ISSUE.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY FROM 2ND TO 3RD. WHILE IN MOTION IT WILL REV UP AND THEN SOMETIMES DECIDE TO SHIFT PROPERLY. IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND JERKED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND ONE STATES BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ERROR MESSAGES AND SUPPOSEDLY IT DOESN'T DO IT FOR THEM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE OTHER DEALERSHIP STATED THAT'S HOW THE TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO WARM UP FIRST. EXCUSE ME? THEY TELL ME IT'S A NON SERVICEABLE VEHICLE UNLESS THERE ARE ANY ERROR CODES. ONE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CLEARED THEY COMPUTER AND UPDATED THE PROGRAMMING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. MOST RECENT ISSUE, JULY 9TH, STARTED TO DRIVE AND VEHICLE SELF SHIFTED BACK INTO NEUTRAL. VEHICLE IS BECOMING MORE UNRELIABLE EACH DAY.
FRONT LEFT STRUT LEAKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. BACKING PLATE BY ROTORS HAD TO BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE OF RATTLING NOISE. ONLY 37,000 MILES AND 4.5 YEARS OLD.
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON CITY STREETS WITH NO COLLISION THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT (AHR) DEPLOYED. AFTER LOOKING AT IT THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER HAD BROKEN, ALLOWING IT TO DEPLOY. THE HEADREST HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED BEFORE OR RESET.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE HEAD REST EXPLODED HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD AND NECK. CAR WAS NOT BREAKING OR DRIVING OVER ANY BUMPS AT THAT TIME
THE ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITH WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY ON A PAVED COUNTY ROAD. THERE WAS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO DEPLOY. LUCKILY MY WIFE WASN'T HURT.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle indicated erroneously that the cruise control was activated. The contact stated that the cruise control light warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE PASSENGER HEADREST DEPLOYED. RETAINING CLIPS ARE BROKEN AND THE ENTIRE HEADREST REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND THERE WAS NO JARRING MOTION OF ANY KIND WHEN THE DEPLOYMENT OCCURRED.
WHILE MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT, THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT DURING THE NIGHT THAT WOULD'VE CAUSED THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY, IT SIMPLY DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY CONCERN TO ME, SINCE IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE SOMEONE WAS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT.
TWO PEOPLE WERE IN THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER AND A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING BUT IN PARK AT A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW AT ARBY'S. WHILE TAKING FOOD FROM THE EMPLOYEE THE PASSENGER HEADREST EXPLODED PUSHING THE 85 YEAR OLD PASSENGERS HEAD FORWARD. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT AND THE FORCE MADE THE CAR WIGGLE. AFTER THE INITIAL SHOCK AND SURPRISE IT WAS DISCOVERED THE HEADREST EXPLODED FOR NO REASON, JUST ON ITS OWN.

I PURCHASED A PRE OWNED 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ALTITUDE FROM TITAN AUTO SALES IN WORTH IL ON JUNE13,2020. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I WAS GIVEN THE 2 SETS OF KEYS IN WHICH I CARRIED ONLY ONE KEY WITH ME WHEN I USE THE TRUCK. ON JUNE 28, 2020 MY PARKED AND LOCKED JEEP WAS STOLEN FROM A MALL PARKING LOT BY A CROOK/S WHO USED A LAPTOP TO UNLOCK AND START MY VEHICLE. I AM NOT ONLY HURT AND UPSET BUT I AM FERIOUS AND UTTERLY CONFUSED ON HOW A WELL DEVELOPED PUSH START VEHICLE WITH SUPPOSEDLY HIGH RANKING VEHICLE WAS STOLEN BY A LAPTOP. THIS VEHICLE WAS VALUED AT $18,000 AND A INDIVIDUAL WAS ABLE TO STEAL MY VEHICLE WITHOUT A KEY. I HAVE BOTH OF MY KEYS TO MY VEHICLE BUT I HAVE NO VEHICLE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW CAN JEEP CREATE A VEHICLE AND SELL IT FOR $40,000 BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED OR PROTECTED FROM CYBER AUTO THIEVES. I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO ENJOY MY NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS STOLEN 15 DAYS LATER AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM A DEALERSHIP BY A CYBER AUTO THIEF. I AM GLAD THAT I HAVE INSURANCE BUT MY TRUST IN JEEP VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RUINED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND I CAN NOT RECOMMEND A VEHICLE LIKE THIS TO ANYONE WHOSE INTERESTED IN JEEP VEHICLES BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW CAN JEEP PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING OR IF THEY EVEN KNOW THAT THEIR VEHICLES CAN BE HACKED BY A LAPTOP.

ALL ALERT LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND SHIFTER LIGHT UP , WIPERS COME ON, VEHICLE WILL STOP AND IS UNABLE TO DRIVE ,MOTOR ACCELERATES , COOLING FANS ARE ACTIVATED ON HIGH ALL AT ONE TIME AND VEHICLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES SHUT OFF THEN IT WILL NOT RESTART , WHILE DRIVING AT ANY TIME. VEHICLE ACTS AS IF POSSESED.!!!!!!!!! THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS INCLUDING FCA.
WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT ABOUT 35 MPH THROUGH A CITY PARK, THE DRIVER HEAD REST BLEW OPEN AND HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND OR POTENTIAL REASON FOR IT TO BLOW OPEN. IT WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND STRONG BLOW TO THE BACK OF MY HEAD. I STOPPED TO ACCESS THE SITUATION AND SAW THAT THE DRIVER HEAD REST HAD POPPED OPEN. I CALLED FIAT CHRYSLER THE NEXT DAY TO FILE A CLAIM. THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT THEIR COST. I AM STILL EXPERIENCING WIP LASH PAIN 3+ WEEKS LATER AND PLAN OF SEEING A DOCTOR ASAP.
WHILE IN MOTION, DURING A ROUTINE SMOOTH DRIVE THE DRIVER SIDE VEHICLE HEADREST SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR IMPACT. UPON INSPECTION THE PLASTIC INSIDE HAS FATIGUED. THE VEHICLE HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT. IT CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AND REMAINS A SAFETY ISSUE UNTIL THE HEADREST CAN BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, MY HEAD REST DEPLOYED. I WAS STOPPED AND ON A CITY/TOWN ROAD. THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 85 DEGREES AND HUMID THAT DAY SO I'M NOT SURE IF THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT BUT IT HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE!

THE AHR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR HARD BRAKING JUST DRIVING. *TR
WHILE THE JEEP WAS STATIONARY, IN PARK AND WITH NO OTHER STIMULUS (NO CONTACT ON THE CAR OR THE HEADREST ITSELF), THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST SNAPPED FORWARD. I PERFORMED A VISUAL INSPECTION AND SAW THAT THE DEVICE HAD NOT ACTIVATED, INSTEAD THE PLASTIC STRUT THAT HELD THE METAL RETAINING BEAM HAD BROKEN, ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO SNAP FORWARD WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED. THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED WHEN THIS OCCURRED, BUT LUCKILY THE PASSENGER DID NOT HAVE HER HEAD RESTING AGAINST THE HEADREST. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE, AKIN TO AN AIRBAG DEPLOYING WITH NO WARNING AND WITH NO STIMULUS. IF THE PASSENGER HAD HER HEAD AGAINST THE HEADREST, I BELIEVE THE HEADREST COULD HAVE HURT HER. *TR

IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM OF A LONG START. IT HAPPENS JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY THE VEHICLE IS SITTING OVER NIGHT, WAKE UP IN THE MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND IT TAKE A BIT LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO START UP.
WHILE PARKED THE DRIVERS SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED. COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE. THE PLASTIC TABS THAT HOLD THE RELEASE PIN BROKE. IT WAS NOT DEPLOYED BECAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT WOULD RELEASE THE PIN.
THE SAFETY FEATURE THAT CAUSES THE HEAD REST TO SEPARATE AND SHOVE THE HEAD FORWARD IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION WENT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT RATHER THAN DEPLOYING BECAUSE OF ONE. I'M LUCKY I WASN'T KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS WHILE DRIVING. THE PLASTIC MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THE LITTLE METAL BAR IS BUSTED NOW, SO I CAN'T POP IT BACK TOGETHER TO DRIVE NORMALLY. *TR
TO START, 2 YEARS AGO THE PASSENGER HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED WITHOUT ME BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. TONIGHT (FRIDAY, MAY 29TH, 2020), WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND WITHOUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAVING ANY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. FROM ALL OF THE INCIDENT REPORTS THAT HAVE BEEN COMING IN ABOUT THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND MADE AS A RECALL. I'M HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY THINGS ARE BEING HANDLED AND HOW LIGHTLY THEY ARE BEING TAKEN. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HARMED. *TR

WILL GO AWAY AFTER APPROX. 5 SECONDS BUT OCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR OPERATES. IS NOT SHOWING ANY ERROR CODES AND APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE FOR MANY OWNERS AND RELATED TO WIRING HARNESS AND SHIFTER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY HEADREST AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. IT SMACKED ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THERE WAS NO IMPACT FROM MY VEHICLE HITTING ANYTHING & NO SUDDEN BRAKING. IT POPPED AND SMACKED ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD. The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the driver's side and passenger's side doors were making an abnormal squealing sound. The driver's side door failed to close without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the door hinge needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
I HAVE BEEN AWARE THAT MY MODEL OF JEEP HAS A HISTORY OF PROBLEMS AND LEGAL SUITS CONCERNING THE GEAR SHIFT. MY JEEP IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS DECODED BY THE VIN. THE SHIFT SELECTOR HAS ALL OF A SUDDEN BEEN SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. AND AS THE DAYS HAVE GONE BY THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. NOW IF I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK IT INDICATES THAT IT IS IN PARK ON THE DASH, WHEN I LET GO OF THE BRAKE WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING IT THEN GOES INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW WHERE I HAVE STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR OR TURNED IT ALL THE WAY OFF WHILE IT INDICATED IT WAS IN PARK BUT IN FACT IT HAD SWITCHED ITSELF TO NEUTRAL CAUSING THE CAR TO ROLL. LUCKILY IT HAS NOT CAUSE ANY HARM TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN/DEFECT IN THE WAY IT IS OPERATING AND IT IS PUTTING THE PUBLIC SAFETY IN JEOPARDY. I HAVE SEARCH AND IT SAYS THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM OR IN FACT ANY FOR MY CAR. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION AND SHOULD NOT BE A RESPONSIBILITY OF MINE TO FIX. IN THE DAYS OF MANUAL (LEVER ACTION) GEAR SHIFTERS THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRONIC ISSUE AS THE COMPUTER IS SOMEHOW CHANGING THE GEAR FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. IN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR SELECTOR YOU WOULD HAVE TO PHYSICALLY GO THROUGH REVERSE TO GET TO NEUTRAL FROM PARK. WITH ELECTRONICS THESE DAYS THERE IS NO HUMAN ERROR OF ACCIDENTALLY MOVING DOWN TO NEUTRAL. IT IS DOING THIS ALL ON ITS OWN AND IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL OR PAYING ATTENTION IT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO ROLL DOWN A HEEL OUT OF CONTROL WITH NOBODY INSIDE TO STOP IT. OR EVEN WORSE WHILE MY 8 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IS INSIDE AND I GET OUT OF THE CAR TO GO TO THE BACK TO GET HER AND IT START ROLLING.... PLEASE ASSIST AND LOOK INTO THIS VERY IMPORTANT AND CONCERNING ISSUE. HAS BEEN OCCURRING OVER THE PAST MONTH RANDOMLY. *TR
2015 GRAND CHEROKEE ALTITUDE- 3.6L. JUST HIT 95000 MILES AND SUDDENLY CAR CONTINUES TO UP SHIFT TO 8TH GEAR EVEN AT LOWER SPEEDS. WHEN ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED, CAR WILL DOWNSHIFT BUT WITH NO ACCELERATION DEPRESSED, CAR WILL MOVE ALL THE WAY TO 8TH. DOWNHILL, TRANS WON'T SHIFT BEYOND 3RD GEAR LIKELY TO ENGINE BRAKING ONLY. THIS IS MY 5TH JEEP AND MY 4TH TIME DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE ACROSS MY JEEPS.
HEADREST SAFETY (AHR) DEPLOYED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND HIT MY PASSENGER'S HEAD WITH VIOLENCE. I ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE NOISE OF THE HEADREST DEPLOYMENT WAS LOUD AND I THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE HIT MY CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS A CONSEQUENCE I MOVED TO THE OPPOSITE LANE AND ALMOST HIT AN UPCOMING VEHICLE. AFTER A GOOGLE SEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL AND MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE AND FCA SHOULD RECALL ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THIS DEFECTIVE SYSTEM.
I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AND WAS ABOUT TO START THE CAR AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE DRIVER HEADREST SUDDENLY POPPED OPEN. IT SMACKED ME IN THE HEAD. 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT CARBON FIBER TRIM IS WARPING ON THE FRONT DASH
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH THE ACTIVE SAFETY HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED, SLAMMING THE BACK OF MY HEAD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BUT STUNNED AND THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HIGH-SPEED COLLISION. THERE WAS NO IMPACT OR NO TRIGGERING EVENT TO THIS. A PRELIMINARY CALL TO A DEALERSHIP INDICATES THIS IS "SOMEWHAT COMMON" AND IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AT OVER $700 FOR REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN CLEAR MANUFACTURING DEFECT ON A FEATURE THAT CAN DIRECTLY CAUSE INJURY OR RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. LIKE AN AIRBAG, THIS DEVICE SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL FOR RANDOM DEPLOYMENTS. *TR
