Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I am writing to formally report an alarming and dangerous pattern of tire failure involving the Cooper Adventurer HT 265/50R/20 tires (Product Number: 90000025718, DOT: U9UM 1HK) that were installed on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
ABS light/Traction light comes on when I break or reverse. When I start up the car it is never on. The car jerks as it shifts to 2wd and I am informed that park sensor is off as well.
THE GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE LITTLE TREAD LEFT AFTER 14,000 MILES. ALSO, THE KEVLAR GOODYEAR ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO PENETRATION BY STAPLES. STAPLES! I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT NO TIRE IS IMPERVIOUS TO NAILS BUT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WITH KEVLAR THESE TIRES SHOULD BE ABLE TO STOP A STAPLE. I GUESS NOT. PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IS THE LACK OF TRACTION ON THE TIRES. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE IN THE RAIN. UNSAFE ACTUALLY. THESE TIRES NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE MARKET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH UPHILL, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TRAVELED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AND CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE ABS AND SKID CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED RIB INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (CROWE AUTO GROUP, LLC, 303 TENNEY ST, KEWANEE, IL 61443, (309) 852-2188) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,558.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
