The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact stated that two unknown messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the costs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Two instances: 1) While reversing out of a parking spot, several warning lights flashed at once, including Power Steering System disabled, Service Hybrid Engine System, and two others - lost power steering. I parked and restarted the car and it drove normally. 2) While in park, the car started but would not shift gears and it would not turn off. It was stuck in this position for 10 minutes until the ignition button finally responded and shut off.
While driving, vehicle begins shifting down and jerking to stop. Emergency brake engages while driving.
Vehicle started displaying a red wrench icon with the Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System warning on the dash and then brought up the turtle/limp mode and the vehicle would not function. This only started happening after the 95B recall fix was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they have informed me that there will not be a fix to the issue until approx. November of this year. Service Tech scan codes indicate "Digital Crash".
As I was driving in a parking lot, the service hybrid error popped up and then suddenly the vehicle was showing to press brake & hit start button. The vehicle began slowing down and even while pressing the gas the vehicle wouldn’t do anything. I was able to coast into an empty part of the parking lot. The vehicle then wouldn’t go into park. The emergency brake engaged without me doing anything. Then it kept telling me to press brake & hit start button but it wouldn’t do anything. The veg hole seemed to be on. But acted as if it was off. I sat disabled in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before it would turn back on and let me resume normal activities.
The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked under the carport, a loud bang was heard coming from outside. The contact's husband was inside the residence in the back room when the abnormal sound was heard. The contact's husband did not go outside to check the origin of the sound until a second abnormal bang could be heard coming from outside. The contact's husband went to check the sound and noticed that the front section of the residence was on fire. The contact called the emergency number, and the police and fire department were dispatched. The fire destroyed the residence and burned a vehicle that was parked in the backyard. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The contact's husband inhaled smoke and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The contact's cat perished in the fire. A police report and a fire department report were filed. The fire Marshal was called to the residence. The vehicles were consumed by the fire and destroyed. The contact's vehicle was left at the residence since it was not insured. The contact notified the insurance company, and the vehicle parked in the backyard was towed by the insurance company to an unknown location. Per the fire marshal, the origin of the fire was the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact notified the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED AND IT EXPLODED.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 60 MPH, the “Service Hybrid Electric System” warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost power. The contact stated that her husband was able to pull over to the right side of the road, turn off and restart the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,266.
While turning lnto my driveway, the passenger rear spring fell off and the car tilted to the passenger side
Lower passenger coil spring isolator loose causing spring and upper isolator to fall out while driving Dealership stated recall was done 6/23 and was out of warranty for that recall. But everything in that suspension is OEM with the old part numbers not the ones in the recall..
Upper passenger Suspension Coil spring isolator came unattached and caused coil spring to fall out.
I was driving pulled in to driveway heard a loud bang and the back of the car dropped and hear scraping. The rear passenger coil spring had fallen out with the upper rubber isolator attached. Called jeep they said the recall had been done in 6 23 and was out of the 2 year repair warranty. I don't see how the recall was done when all the numbers on the coil spring , isolator were still original parts?
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 70 MPH, the temperature gauge rose extremely high, with the message “Engine Overheating” displayed on the instrument panel and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact’s wife pulled over and parked the vehicle while awaiting tow truck service. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 21,722.
I am reporting two major electrical-related failures in my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that raise serious safety concerns. In February 2025, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete battery failure with no warning. No lights or messages appeared. I was left stranded and had to tow the vehicle. The dealership found that one battery had completely failed and required replacement, while the second battery had to be recharged. No clear cause was identified. This raised concerns about a deeper electrical or charging system issue. On [XXX], the vehicle became completely inoperable again while I was traveling out of state. I was stranded in Iowa and had to tow the vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership. They diagnosed that the wiring harness connectors to the fuel pump were stuck open, causing the connector to overheat and fail. This required full replacement of the wiring harness, which involves dropping the fuel tank. There were no warning lights, messages, or drivability issues prior to the failure. Electrical overheating in a component directly tied to the fuel system poses a serious fire and safety hazard. As of today, the vehicle remains at the dealership, and I have been without transportation since [XXX]. I opened a case with Stellantis, but my case manager has not provided any updates. Stellantis has now told me I must coordinate with the dealership to request goodwill repair assistance, despite the urgency and safety-critical nature of the failure. These are not typical issues for a well-maintained vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate this as a potential electrical defect that may pose a broader safety risk to other owners. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and failed to properly accelerate with the "Hybrid Motor" message displayed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
Vehicle loses power and warning lights come on “maintenance on the hybrid system”. A little red wrench appears down the lower left corner. It all goes away after about a minute and a half vehicle only loses power for a brief moment.
My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a persistent, intermittent grinding or rumbling noise during moderate acceleration, most often under load such as going uphill. The noise has been documented over seven service visits and confirmed in writing by two separate Jeep dealerships, yet Jeep claims they cannot replicate it consistently. In 2024, my husband experienced violent jerking during upshifts at highway speeds, forcing him to restart the vehicle to restore normal operation. While that specific event has not repeated, the grinding/drivetrain issue continues, with no warning lights or diagnostic codes. The defect has persisted for more than a year, despite extensive service attempts, and raises serious safety concerns — particularly if the drivetrain locks up or loses power while driving. Jeep has not resolved the issue and is attempting to close my case without a fix. Case No. 93653073 is on file with Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care. Dates of service visits: Repair History 6/12/24 (1 day) – Rhythm Jeep – Unable to replicate 6/19–7/23/24 (35 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced faulty resonator 8/1–8/2/24 (2 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced exhaust assembly 9/21–10/2/24 (12 days) – Rhythm Jeep – PCM update, cam/crank relearn, STAR Case S2309000002; noise confirmed 10/30–11/11/24 (13 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced motor mounts; vibration noted 11/27–12/17/24 (21 days) – Rhythm Jeep – TCM reprogrammed and quick learn 7/12–7/15/25 (4 days) – Freeland Jeep – Transmission tech assigned; grinding confirmed Total days out of service: 88. No warning lights, no stored codes.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? While driving, the passenger seat side airbag deployed unexpectedly. I was moving slowly, just starting to cross an intersection after a traffic light turned green, when the airbag in the passenger seat “exploded” without warning. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loud noise startled me. This caused me to panic while in an active intersection. When I saw the seat airbag deploy, I became extremely concerned that my own seat could also explode, potentially causing injury to my back. The fear and distraction while driving put both my safety and that of surrounding drivers at risk. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no warning lamps, messages, sounds, or any other symptoms before the airbag deployed. The failure occurred suddenly without any prior indication.
73C / NHTSA 25V576 Recall regarding loss of propulsion/vehicles stopping and / or decelerating.
My 2023 Jeep GC Overland 4XE was at the Jeep service center for the same issue in a week. I get a Service throttle control warning, CEL, then every warning light on the dashboard lit up. It happened on my driveway the other day and I would not drive. I had Jeep roadside tow it to a Jeep service center. On 7/9/2025 I picked up the Jeep. Service tec said no open recalls, no software updates and the throttle body module was reprogrammed. A 14-mile test drive was done and the codes did not return. Shortly after pickup, while driving at 65 MPH on the thruway, I got the same error message, Service throttle control along with a check engine light and all warning lights again lit up. The Jeep displayed a reduced power warning, and many other warning but I didn’t have time to look at the dashboard. The vehicle slowed to a crawl in limp mode at 23 MPH, the steering became very heavy and slow to respond. I was able to quickly move over to the shoulder, and I was almost rear ended by a tracker trailer. I got off the thruway, shut the engine off, then back on and was able to get full power back. I immediately drove it to the dealership service center. This is NOT safe vehicle to be in and there are many other reports of this happening.
While driving, the vehicle sends a message that the automatic cruise control has shut down, the car starts slowing down and doesn't respond to pressing on the gas. Only recourse is to move off to the side of the road, shut everything down and turn it back on. The batteries show two miles left on the electric system. This is the second occurrence. Both have occurred at highway speed.
My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes FIVE, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that Stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and Stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.
This vehicle continues to have electrical issues which effects the drivability. For the current service visit, the vehicle was taken in due to “shut down” or “shudder off” as if the car had completely been downshifted and lost power while in full drive mode causing a driving interruption. This driving interruption causes a concern for safety. As of today, the vehicle has been in the service department for 56 days. Red wrench appears each time with "Service Hybrid System", check engine light. Discussions with service department: "No definitive fix" ..•B273C-00 Meaning: (one of the codes) The code specifically points to an issue with the digital crash input, meaning the vehicle's computer is detecting a "crash" event, even when one hasn't occurred. •4xe Specific: This code is frequently seen on Jeep 4xe models, likely due to the complexity of the hybrid system and its interaction with the ORC.
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system engaging while turning left when there was no car or pedestrian in front of us. This scared us as the car stopped in the middle of a large intersection putting us all in danger of potentially getting hit. The BRAKE message appeared followed by three loud beeps before the car applied full pressure on the breaks and brought the car to a full stop.
The “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” has been coming on intermittently for several months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced a wiring harness. That did not fix the issue. The light continues to come on and Jeep technicians have no idea how to fix the issue. Today the light came on and the vehicle stalled and lost propulsion for about 3 seconds and then lurched hard forward as the power returned to the engine. This issue is widespread across social media yet Jeep has done nothing to remedy it. This is a major safety issue, especially with the unexpected lurching forward of the vehicle.
Unsafe, Defective Vehicle & Refusal to Remedy Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Overlander VIN: [XXX] Purchase Date: [XXX] Dealership: Route 18 Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, East Brunswick, NJ I purchased this vehicle new in June 2023. From the first weeks, it has displayed severe, life-threatening defects that make it unsafe and undriveable. Despite presenting it to seven authorized Jeep service stations and contacting both the dealership and Jeep/Stellantis repeatedly, no effective repair, replacement, or buyback has been provided. The SUV has just 1,000 miles yet has been out of service for over two years, resulting in substantial financial loss and hardship. Safety Defects HVAC/Defrost Failure: After 20–30 miles, the A/C stops cooling and blows only hot air. The blower often shuts off completely, fogging the windshield and reducing visibility to zero. Jeep has acknowledged this defect under NHTSA Recall 24V111 (Manufacturer Code 04B), but no remedy has been made available. HUD Mirror Glare: The Head-Up Display mirror is misaligned and reflects light from headlights, streetlights, and sunlight across the windshield, producing blinding glare and making safe driving impossible. Failed Remedy Attempts Seven Jeep service centers refused long test drives, logging less than 5 miles even though the HVAC issue occurs after 30–50 miles. Route 18 staff admitted seeing the HUD glare but told me to “tint the windshield.” Management was dismissive, and Jeep/Stellantis corporate has ignored all follow-ups for over two years. Impact and Remedy Requested I have paid tens of thousands in loans, insurance, towing, storage, and rentals for a vehicle I cannot safely drive. I request an immediate buyback or full refund, or replacement with a safe, defect-free vehicle, plus reimbursement of all related costs. This Jeep is unsafe and abandoned by dealer and manufacturer. Regulators must act now before more consumers are harmed. – [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Driving in [XXX] in the HOV lanes on the evening of 22 June, the car traveled over an uneven section of the road. Heard a noise and felt the car go over a small bump. Car ride felt slightly different and continued on to home. Next day, looked at cat and the rear end was sitting uneven. Right rear lower than left rear. Looked under the rear of the car and saw the right rear coil spring was not there. The left rear spring is still in place. Prior to this, there was no problem with the ride or suspension of the car. There are no warning lights on the dash currently or prior to the spring falling off the car. I am not driving the car to to what I consider an unsafe condition. I am making an appointment at the dealer to get the problem resolved. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving at approximately 20 - 35 mph, the passenger side rear suspension coil spring fell off. When that happened, the vehicle sank on that side (rear, right side) and the coil spring and spring pad components projected outwards with force towards the road side. No dash lights were activated but, vehicle was exhibiting an unstable (bouncy) driving condition. The vehicle was towed to authorized service center for repairs and a claim was initiated with the manufacturer out of abundance of caution since the event has a resemblance to NHTSA Recall No. 23V-413 (JUN, 2023) and Safety Recall Notice 64A. Said Recall appears on the manufacturer's website as completed for this vehicle.
Was driving in a neighborhood and slowly turning at a 4 way stop, parking brake self engaged causing the car to slam to a stop and was unable to press gas. Had to put the car in park and restart (with shutoff for 30 seconds) before I could move and was stuck sitting in the middle of an intersection.
1) Vehicle lost power in traffic with no warning other then a dashboard red wrench 2) Rear collision warning does not work intermittently 3) Forward collision warning not operable 4) Rain sensing wipers do not work intermittently
Driving down interstate going 78mph in hybrid mode and the car shuts off and I was able to get over to the side of the road since traffic wasn't bad at the time. Restarted the car and went on my way with no other issues until last week. Driving down the interstate again in hybrid mode and the "service hybrid " light starts flashing and so I changed to all gas for the remainder of the trip. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they had no answers other then they updated the software. We shall see but how it works but I have my doubts that it wont cut off again or have issues. Only has 14K miles on it when this stuff happened.
The vehicle is a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. While driving in heavy traffic on a 45 mph road, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion, with the dash lighting up with a large "Service Hybrid System" warning. After several seconds of no response, with traffic trying to work its way around my stalled SUV, the vehicle began to move again, albeit very slowly, just enough to limp it to a side street. After another 30 seconds or so, the problem cleared itself and the vehicle returned to a normal state of propulsion. I took the car to the dealer where I left it for more than a week. Apparently this is a known issue, and a code appeared (B273C-00, Digital Crash Input), but they were not able to replicate the issue while they had the vehicle and so they just reset the code. The automaker is also aware of this problem, but doesn't deem it severe enough to issue a warning to customers or provide alternative transportation while a fix is developed. The dealer's advice is to let them know when it happens again. At this point, I don't feel the vehicle is safe to drive, and it will remain parked until a fix is available.
Multiple incidents of the vehicle displaying a Service Hybrid System that appears for several seconds and then disappears. Today this occured, the engine abruptly switched to gas mode from hybrid with a sudden lurch, then returned to hybrid mode and the light disappeared . Vehicle has been to dealership twice for the service hybrid System light and no code is stored and they could not diagnose any further.
We were driving our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and pulled into a parking lot and put the vehicle in Park. At this point the vehicle started flashing the battery light and would not turn off nor were we able to put the vehicle in drive. Essentially the entire vehicle was just sitting and running, but was inoperable and we were unable to shut the vehicle off. We left the vehicle running and walked away with our key fobs, but the vehicle would still not shut off. It's a safety issue to have a vehicle running and not be able to put it inn drive or turn it off. We had to call a flat bed tow truck. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and they are not sure what is wrong with it. The warning lamp that came on was the red battery light and Auto Emergency Braking - Active Braking On was flashing across the screen, but the vehicle wasn't engaged in driving. We have the fob information from when we dropped the vehicle off, but nothing has been confirmed.
I was traveling on the highway at highway speed during peak commuting times when a notice to service hybrid system was displayed on the gauge cluster. The vehicle then lost all acceleration and shut down. I had to safely navigate to the side of the road with zero ability to accelerate or brake in fear of not being able to get off the roadway safely. I was automatically shifted into park once I reached a speed of around 5 mph.
Sometime after performing the B9A recall (NHTSA 23V-787) repair (my vehicle passed), my check engine light came on. Dealer felt there was faulty Airbag ORC sensor and this was replaced. Despite replacement the vehicle continues to throw check engine list with error DTC B273C. We opened a STAR case 6/16/25 and my local dealership kept the Jeep for a week. They stated Stellantis said there was no fix available. Still showing check engine light with B273C error despite replacing sensor.
Vehicle wouldn’t go into gear June 2025 was towed due to service engine, abs braking error, service hybrid error. Messages were cleared and declared “no fix” wait for Stellantis update. 7/2025 vehicle service hybrid went on, vehicle lost acceleration when turning onto road. Brought back to jeep service indicated “no fix” Stellantis/jeep aware of issue. Customer states SERIVE HYBRID LIGHT TURNS ON AND THE VEHICLE IS LOSING POWER ON AND OFF VERIFIED CONCERN, CODE B273C-00, DOCUMENTATION FROM JEEP THIS ISSUE, IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO REPAIR AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME, IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO PARK THE VEHICLE INSIDE UNTIL A REPAIR CAN BE PERFORMED Warranty COURTESY VEHICLE INSPECTION Section: SEE ATTACHED KNOW YOUR VEHICLE REPORT FOR INSPECTION RESULTS Warranty Claim Type:
In February 2025, my jeep would flash a “Service Hybrid System” code that would last about 3-5 seconds and disappear. This happened about 4-5 times over the next few months, code would not stay up and vehicle seemed unaffected. On June 10, I was driving with son on a highway about 60 mph when my car completely shut off, no power to engine, no power steering- absolutely nothing. We experienced a very aggressive jerk when this happened and I limped the vehicle off to the shoulder- we live in a remote area and I had no cell service. I was able to restart my car and drove it in “e-save” mode home. The next day, I drove my car again and had my son and daughter in the vehicle and the same exact thing happened. I was driving about 55mph around a corner with a large semi coming at me in the oncoming lane and my vehicle shut off and lost power and power steering. I was terrified that I would veer into that truck and there was not a shoulder readily available. We had to yet again limp the vehicle a few yards around the corner to pull off and I did not have service. So I had to walk to call my husband to pick my children up. The car has been at the dealership since then and told there is a digital crash code showing with no eta on a fix. Stellantis has denied a buyback yet my car has 26,000 miles on it and is under warranty with no eta on fix. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and unfixable for 60 days now.
Hybrid electric system warning light on while driving with my family on the highway, difficulty with the rear seat headrests, fresh engine oil residue on the underbody. On two occasions, the vehicle remained on and was unresponsive, and all the lights on the dashboard came on, displaying lights and warnings for faults in the hybrid system and battery. It didn't respond when I tried to turn it off. as this may put my safety and that of my family at risk
Had 60 miles to empty of gas and slowed down while entering a turn lane. All the electronics flashed a few times, forced the car into park (while moving) and then would not turn on to drive. Music continued to play, car would not turn off or restart, AC stopped working, and was unable to shift into neutral to get out of the road. Was almost hit by multiple cars getting into the turning lane expecting me to drive like everyone in front of me.
I was driving my Jeep grand Cherokee 2023 at night on the 580 freeway in Northern California. Was traveling about 65 MPH. When the vehicle lost all power. I was barely able to pull off to the right shoulder still was partially in the right most lane. After multiple attempts of Restart the vehicle, it did restart after about 10 minutes. I’ve taken the vehicle in to the nearest dealership on a flatbed truck. It has been there since the beginning of June. Jeep is unable to repair the vehicle sighting a software update needed for the hybrid system that they have not released yet. This problem will apply to any 4XE vehicle by Jeep. Vehicle is not safe to operate on public roads. Jeep does not seem interested in accelerating the fix. I’ve been waiting nearly 3 1/2 months.
My windshield has small bubbles in the laminate layer between the glass. It is only noticeable in the early morning and sunset when the sun shines directly through the glass windshield. The safety concern is at night when it is raining. When an oncoming car headlights come through the glass it is impossible to see the road. I have to slow down considerably. Hopefully the road is straight at this point because I cannot see the road. At first I thought my windshield was just dirty. After cleaning the windshield many times the issue did not go away.
The vehicle has been regularly throwing an error saying Service Hybrid System and having a massive stutter in power while the hybrid motor shuts off and the engine is started to try and take over immediately. The vehicle has been in the shop for this previously, only to be returned to me saying they don’t have a fix for the problem and to continue to drive it. This happened again at highway speed and caused a near immediate loss of 10-15 miles per hour and were it not for evasive driving on my part and the other car, would have caused an accident. This powertrain has major issues that continue to happen.
My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle is subject to multiple NHTSA safety recalls involving loss of propulsion and vehicle fire risk. These defects have created ongoing safety hazards and extended loss of use. Safety Recall 73C (NHTSA 25V-576) addresses a Hybrid Control Processor software defect that may cause sudden and unexpected loss of drive power without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Safety Recall 78C (NHTSA 25V-766) involves potential contamination of the 2.0L engine from the casting process, which may result in catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fire, and unrecoverable loss of drive power. For an extended period, no remedy was available. Safety Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V-741) involves a High Voltage Battery defect that may lead to a vehicle fire. FCA instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from structures or other vehicles. I have been unable to safely charge the vehicle for over six months and have been restricted from using my assigned covered parking due to fire risk. Despite multiple dealership visits for recall-related service, the vehicle has not been fully restored to safe, normal operation. No loaner or substitute transportation has been provided during safety-related repairs. These conditions significantly impair the safety, use, and value of the vehicle and create ongoing risk to occupants and surrounding property. I am submitting this complaint to document the safety issues and extended lack of an effective remedy.
When my plug-in hybrid vehicle’s service engine light came on, an authorized Jeep Dealership diagnosed and fixed the electric coolant heater then also performed a software up to address the recall 95B/NHTSA 24V-720. In less than 2 weeks, my vehicle flagged a hybrid system error code “B273C.” The Jeep dealership immediately impounded my vehicle per the regional Stellantis technical team’s orders. My vehicle has been held at the dealership for over a month with no repairs or timeline for when a repair will be available. It’s unacceptable for a custom built fully paid off vehicle (2023 JGC 4xe Summit) to become such a huge liability and poorly reflects on the Jeep/Stellantis brand. There has been no support from their case management team and no urgency/ timeline provided for when this issue will be resolved. When manufacturing defects result in making a vehicle un-driveable, the manufacturer should prioritize finding a solution and provide customers with a rental of equitable quality to ensure the Jeep brand experience is maintained. Most importantly, for a vehicle that is only 2 years old, it is concerning from a safety perspective that it has had so many issues with the hybrid system for which the manufacturer has no solutions available.
This vehicle has now been in service 3 times for related issues. "Service Hybrid Electric System" is now popping up. It happened on the highway and it jerked like it was changing gears and reducing speed before "restarting" itself. This has now happened numerous times. This is an unsafe family vehicle. Jeep has refused to buy it back and only recommending to take it back to the dealer and I have to pay for rentals. 2 weeks after purchasing the car, it left me and my family stranded in -10 degree weather in the winter. The entire system shut off. Car had to be towed to the dealer and it took weeks to get resolved. Then comes the 95B recall. Again, took over a week to get fixed. Had to pay again for a rental and wait to get reimbursed. Now this issue.
While driving I received a pop-up message on the head unit advertising Sirius XM. I had to clear this pop-up message while driving in order to continue using my map. I need to be very clear that I was driving at speed with a navigation route set and the map was obstructed by an advertisement that I had to touch the screen with one hand left on the wheel to click a pop-up ad. This was not a message from any attached devices. This was a system message from the infotainment unit.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated. Additionally, while driving at slower speeds, the braking system independently engaged, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The “Service Hybrid System” warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
Picked up vehicle on Monday with previous reported issue unfixed. They couldnt find the fault code that appeared on the screen and made a different fix. Tuesday, drove the car about 10-12 miles. Was stopped at a stop light with my foot on the brake. A sudden huge jolt and the car stops, the red wrench and battery warning appear. I drove to the dealership and reported the incident. The vehicle is there, they say there is no "fault" signal. This is an ongoing issue with my jeep, I have filed several reports.
BELOW IS THE LETTER I SENT TO STELLANTIS. I am writing to file an urgent and formal complaint regarding ongoing, severe safety and functionality issues with my Jeep 4xe , leased through Stellantis Financial. These issues have not only rendered the vehicle unreliable, but they have also endangered my life, the lives of my children, and the public-particularly as I work in an elementary school setting where safety is paramount. Most alarmingly, my Jeep 4xe recently reversed on its own at an accelerated speed without input, and would not stop until I prompted the brakes repeatedly. Had a child or pedestrian been behind the vehicle, the incident could've resulted in severe injury or death. As a parent and educator, this experience was traumatizing and has left me fearful of operating the vehicle in any public or residential space. Additionally, my vehicle frequently enters "turtle mode" (reduced power mode) without warning, significantly increasing my risk of being rear- ended in traffic. This unpredictability is unacceptable for any vehicle-especially one marked as a safe, family-friendly hybrid. These critical safety failures began shortly after the recall involving the vehicle's battery. Since then I've experienced: *Multiple simultaneous sensor malfunctions *Reduced driving speeds and performance *Inability to charge the vehicle on a professionally installed Level 2 charger *Recurring shop visits without permanent resolution While earlier issues were inconvenient, they pale in comparison to the dangerous and erratic behavior of the vehicle now. Despite repeated attempts by service technicians to address these problems, each "fix" is followed by a new or recurring issue. This pattern shows that the vehicle is fundamentally flawed and no longer safe to operate.
