Ambient temperature was approximately 40-45°F and cabin heat was set to approximately 80°F. There was no rock strike, chip, crater, or starburst impact point observed. The fracture appears to originate in the center of the sunroof panel. Vehicle mileage was approximately 21,924 miles at the time. No crash occurred, but the sudden glass failure created a safety hazard and driver distraction at highway speed and required immediate repair. The vehicle was inspected at Chapman Dodge Scottsdale (Repair Order 7444177). The area service representative denied warranty coverage and attributed it to “impact,” stating the glass can bow upward due to cabin pressure from HVAC, despite no identifiable impact point being documented. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving unexpected sunroof glass failure.
I am writing to inform you that I discovered a cracked windshield on my car yesterday after work. I had driven the car for lunch earlier in the day, and the windshield was not cracked at that time. I believe this may be a stress crack.
