TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER TAIL LIGHTS HAD OVERHEATED WHICH CAUSED BOTH HOUSING PLASTIC LENS TO MELT FROM THE BULB. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS ALSO OVERHEATED WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JOHN ELWAY'S CLAREMONT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM(620 AUTO CENTER DR, CLAREMONT, CA 91711) WHERE SHE GIVEN A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, THE CONTACT DECLINED THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
I'VE TO REPLACE THE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY 4 TIMES, IT KEEPS BLOWING OUT THE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHT. I'VE ALSO HAD TO PURCHASE 5 A/C COMPESSORS FOR THIS TRUCK AND THE ABS, TRACTION LIGHT STAYS ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AT NIGHT, THE CONTACT WAS ALERTED BY ANOTHER MOTORIST THAT HER REAR LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME, SHE NOTICED THAT ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
LEFT REAR TAILLIGHT HAS GONE OUT - REPLACING THE BULB DOESN'T WORK. LOOKS LIKE THE HOUSING/SOCKET IS PARTIALLY MELTED. ALSO, LEFT FRONT PARKING LIGHT HAS GONE OUT AND CHANGING THE BULB HAS NOT RESOLVED THAT EITHER.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. A CO WORKER TOLD ME MY TAIL LIGHT WAS OUT AND THE NEXT DAY I LOOKED AT IT AND TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULB BUT THE BULB WAS MELTED AND BROKEN INSIDE THE LENS. THE BULB WAS MELTED TO A PIECE OF PLASTIC INSIDE...TO SOME TYPE OF FIN. THIS IS THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT. I ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY EARLIER THIS YEAR. I REPLACED THE BULB 3 TIMES BEFORE I FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. NOW THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE BULB MELTED TO THAT FIN INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE BULB. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AGAIN, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE AT $130 EACH PLUS THE BULBS. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE...OR A WRECK SINCE MY BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT WORK UNTIL THIS TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS SPECIAL ORDERED AND RELACED, WHICH TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS TO RECEIVE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT.
THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON MY VEHICLE REGULARLY FAILS. MY MECHANIC HAS DONE THIS REPLACEMENT SO MANY TIMES I HAVE LOST COUNT. HIS FIRST TRY HE USED A LESS EXPENSIVE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, BUT SINCE THE FIRST TIME HE HAS ONLY USED THE MANUFACTURER PART. THE LAST REPLACEMENT LASTED 6 WEEKS.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND A TRUCK IN FRONT OF HER STOPPED QUICKLY CAUSING MY DAUGHTER TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION BUT ENDED UP REAR ENDING THE TRUCK. HER AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND HER JEEP HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SITE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE 4/28/14 AND WAS REPAIRED EXCEPT FOR THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR THE NEW AIRBAG. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS PART IS NO LONGER PRODUCED OR MANUFACTURED BY ANY VENDOR IN THE COUNTRY. THEREFORE, OUR JEEP CANNOT BE RELEASED TO US WHICH HAS CAUSED A HARDSHIP ON OUR FAMILY AS WELL AS A HARDSHIP FOR THE SHOP MANAGER AS HE CANNOT BE PAID UNTIL THE CAR IS RELEASED. BECAUSE OF THIS I BELIEVE THAT ANYONE DRIVING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN THE COUNTRY IS POSSIBLY AT RISK DUE TO THIS DEVICE NOT BEING READILY AVAILABLE IN THE PROPER SUPPLY CHANNELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AT NIGHT, A CLICKING SOUND EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE A WEEK ON AVERAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE CURRENT FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE SERVICE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE EMITTED A RUBBER BURNING SMELL FROM THE TAIL LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS ELECTRICAL WIRES FROM THE TAIL LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BOTH OF THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAINED BURNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
BOTH TAILLIGHTS MELTED. THE INSIDE COVER AROUND THE BULB MELTED ONTO THE BULB. THE OUTSIDE COVER MELTED TO BE CONCAVE IN SHAPE. I REMOVED THE MELTED INSIDE PIECES AND REPLACED THE BULBS. I LATER CRACKED THE RIGHT TAILLIGHT AND REPLACED IT. THE OUTSIDE COVER OF THE NEW RIGHT TAILLIGHT HAS MELTED TO BE CONCAVE BUT STILL WORKS. IN MAY OF 2011 THE LEFT TAILLIGHT BRAKE LIGHT BULB WAS OUT. I REPLACED THE BULB BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I REPLACED THE SOCKET AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK BECAUSE IT WAS MELTED SO BAD. I FINALLY ENDED UP REPLACING THE TAILLIGHT. THE PARTS GUY SAID THERE WAS A NOTATION THAT IF YOU WERE REPLACING THE TAILLIGHT BECAUSE IT MELTED THIS NEW TAILLIGHT WAS MUCH BETTER. SO, THEY KNOW THE TAILLIGHTS MELT BUT ARE UNWILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. *TR
LEFT TAIL LIGHT BURNED OUT AND MELTED THE TAIL LIGHT. IT CONTINUES TO GO OUT AND IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.
