Brakes were locking up as I was driving the vehicle. ABS module needs reprogramming. Mechanic inspected, he states the brakes could lock up without this update only available from Chryslar. This repair is in a recall but not for my vin number. I have been told my vehicle is unsafe to drive. ABS light on in gauge cluster.

THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V493000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

THE REAR BRAKES AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE KEEP FAILING. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES 6-7 TIMES SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND NOW NEEDS IT AGAIN IN LESS THAN 7 MONTHS. WE DON'T EVEN USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SO WHY DOES IT KEEP WEARING OUT? WE HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS AND ARE READY TO DO SO AGAIN. IS THIS FAULTY PARTS ON THE JEEP OR WHAT? WE HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE AN EMERGENCY BRAKE ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE WE HAVE OWNED BEFORE. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE ALERTS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SYSTEM RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. WE WERE TOLD THERE IS A RECALL F50, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #06V49300, REGARDING THIS FROM OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. WE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED ON 07/30/2012 AT A AUTHORIZED JEEP SERVICE CENTER DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, MODULE AND ASSOCIATED WIRING WERE REPLACED AT OUR COST. THIS DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WE DIDN'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE ANY FURTHER UNTIL NOW, SINCE WE WERE NOT SATISFIED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE AT THIS SERVICE CENTER DEALERSHIP. TODAY WE CONTACTED ANOTHER LOCAL AUTHORIZED JEEP SERVICE CENTER DEALERSHIP AND THE DAIMLER CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER REGARDING THE N46 RECALL [GASOLINE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY/HITCH] AND THE PREVIOUS F50 RECALL. BOTH SAID THE F50 RECALL IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH FOR OUR VIN. HOWEVER, AFTER DOING SOME FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE IT SEEMS THE F50 RECALL IS ASSIGNED TO 2007 JEEP LIBERTY 2WD ONLY. THEREFORE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS MAY BE THE REASON OUR VEHICLE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE IS RECALL AND WE MUST NOW PAY OUT OF POCKET AGAIN TO FIX THIS MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. WE HAVE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN AUTHORIZED JEEP SERVICE CENTER DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO REPROGRAM THE ABS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT PER THE REMEDY ASSIGNED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #06V49300 AT OUR OWN EXPENSE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 12/15/2009:2007JEEP LIBERTY:BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN FIRST APPLYING,HAVE TO PUMP BRAKE REPEATEDLY TO GET GOOD BRAKE PEDAL. VEHICLE IS AT DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 WEEKS. THEY'VE REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, ABS SENSOR,ABS MOTOR, BRAKE LINES(FRONT AND REAR) CHECK CALIPERS AND BRAKE PADS (BOTH IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION) AND STILL CAN'T GET BRAKE PEDAL TO APPLY WHEN FIRST PRESSING ON IT. THE SERVICE DEPT. MANAGER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO AND HAS PUT IN A CALL TO JEEP TECHNICAL SERVICE. NOTE: THIS IS A RIGHT HAND DRIVE MAIL JEEP ORIGINAL FROM FACTORY. I PURCHASED MY JEEP 2 YEARS AGO. OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN NOTICING I CAN HARDLY STOP WITH CAR. I BROUGHT MY JEEP TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. MY VEHICLE AT JUST UNDER 19,000 MILES ON IT HAD TO HAVE ALL COMPLETE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PADS ON IT AND NONE OF IT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ROTORS ARE ONLY COVERED FOR ONE YEAR OR 12,000 MILES. SO THEY ARE THINKING THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE ONLY SAFE FOR ONE YEAR ON BRAND NEW VEHICLES. MY ROTORS AT 19,000 MILES WERE ALMOST FALLING OUT OF MY TWO YEAR OLD VEHICLE, THEY WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT. THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR HAVE FAILED CAUSING THEM TO STOP WORKING. THE WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE ALL FAILED CAUSING THEM TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDOWS DID NOT FAIL ALL AT THE SAME TIME. EACH ONE ABOUT 2 MONTHS APART. *TR

WHEN THE DRIVER APPROACHED A STOP SIGN, SHE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE BRAKES THEN COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WERE ACCELERATING, CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN, BUT THE BRAKES BARELY WORK. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
PURCHASED JEEP DEC, 2006 FOR MY BIRTHDAY/CHRISTMAS. AS OF 4 WEEKS AGO, WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT THE BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR. (1ST TIME IT OCCURRED THERE WAS A WHOOSHING SOUND). TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP (ON 3/26/07) WHERE PURCHASED AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. PICKED UP FROM SVC DEPT. ON MARCH 28TH (WED) AND THEN THE NEXT EVENING (THURS) IT WORSENED. WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON FRI., MARCH 30TH AND AS OF TODAY (APRIL 5TH)WITH LIBERTY STILL THERE, THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG AND THAT IT MEETS DAIMLER CHRYSLER STANDARDS. AND WE ARE TO PICK IT UP. THEY WILL NOT REFER WHERE WE CAN GET IT REPAIRED AND IS FULLY UNDER WARRANTY. WE OWN A JEEP WRANGLER, NO PROBLEMS WITH THAT JEEP. WE NEED AN EXPLANATION, BEFORE THERE IS ANOTHER CRASH AS THERE WAS IN PORT ARANSAS, WHERE THE JEEP LIBERTY LOST CONTROL HIT ANOTHER CAR AND EXPLODED AND THE PEOPLE WERE BURNED BEYOND RECOGNITION!
