CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BAD THERMOSTAT. ENGINE MAKING A RATTLING NOISE DIFFERENT THAN THE NORMAL UNIQUE SOUND OF THE 2.4L MULTI-AIR ENGINE AFTER ENGINE IS DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. SOUND CAN BE HEARD MOST WHEN TRAVELING UNDER 40 MPH.
DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND MIDDLE CONSOLE TURN ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THEIR OWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED PERIODICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM BROWNE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM TAMPA BAY (10909 N FLORIDA AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612, (813) 280-5069), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
EXTREME HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION AND NEARLY STOPPING WHILE TRYING TO ENTER A FREEWAY, TWICE. KEY FOB ISSUES, AUTO START ISSUES, RADIO AND BLUE TOOTH ISSUES, TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE READING ISSUES. FIRST SERVICE VISIT I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST IN NEED OF A COMPUTER REST. SECOND VISIT THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIRD VISIT THEY INITIALLY SAID IT NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE UNTIL I INSISTED IT WAS SERIOUS AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. NOT ONLY WAS I TREATED POORLY BUT I WAS BLOCKED FROM LEAVING A REVIEW. IT WAS MENTIONED THAT ENGINEERS CURRENTLY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT ARE WAITING UNTIL SECOND QUARTER TO PUBLISH IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT BECAUSE IT ISN'T JUST A FAULTY SENSOR LIGHT, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE NEARLY DIES WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, CREATING A RISK FOR A FATAL ACCIDENT. I DEMANDED RECORDS OF ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE TO THIS BRAND NEW AUTO, SINCE ISSUES FIRST AROSE ON 12/9/1027. FROM 12/9/2017-3/38/2018, I HAVE HAD MY CAR AT THE SERVICE CENTER THREE TIMES. AND I JUST FOUND THE SAFETY RECALL ONLINE, I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY JEEP OR THE DEALERSHIP YET AS TO THIS RECALL PERTAINING TO FAULTY SENSOR ALERTS. I AM UNABLE TO SELECT FROM THE ABOVE LIST BUT "WHEELS' AND "ELEC STABILITY CONTROL" WERE ALSO AFFECTED.
I PICKED UP MY RENEGADE FROM THE SERVICE CENTER YESTERDAY FOR MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE AUTO SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, BLUE-TOOTH, KEY FOB, AUTO-START, ACCELERATION AND TIRE GAUGE ISSUES. ON THE WAY BACK TO WORK IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE GRINDING. AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE CAR WAS GOING AROUND 15-20 MPH AND IT LUNGED FORWARD AND STOPPED VERY HARD AND ABRUPTLY AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THEN TURNED ON, ON ITS OWN. I TURNED IT OFF AND CAUTIOUSLY PROCEEDED. NOW, WHENEVER I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON AND THE CAR FEELS ROUGH WHILE DRIVING, LIKE THE BRAKES ARE PARTIALLY ENGAGED WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE ONLY PUT LESS THAN 10 MILES ON THE JEEP SINCE PICKING IT UP YESTERDAY. THIS IS A REAL THREAT TO MY SAFETY. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT AND THE FOURTH MAJOR ISSUE. DO I NEED TO DIE IN A CRASH BEFORE SOMEONE WILL LISTEN TO ME AND HELP? THESE CARS NEED RECALLED AND TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. *TT *JS
GETTING FALSE WARNINGS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL SUCH AS LIGHTS BEING THAT ARE STILL WORKING, SERVICE ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE, SOMETIME THE SERVICE THE ELECTRIC PARK JUST INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON AND GOES OFF NOW IT JUST STAYS ON AND PARKING BREAK IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CAR JERKS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE SERVICE CENTER 4 TIMES FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO/ADDRESS THE ISSUE. I'VE HAD ENDLESS HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH JEEP/SERVICE CENTER TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED. EACH TIME IT'S TAKEN INTO THE SHOP, THEY CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE SAME ISSUE TO OCCUR. HOWEVER, IT HAPPENS TO US ON A DAILY BASIS. I BASICALLY HAVE GIVEN UP HOPE IN JEEPS ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE AS WE'VE RECEIVED NO RESOLUTION YEARS LATER. I'VE ALSO BEEN INFORMED IT'S THE OPERATING SYSTEM WITHIN THE JEEP BEING A 9 SPEED, BUT IT DIDN'T DO THIS FROM THE START, IT OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE.
WHILE IN MOTION AT THE FREEWAY, LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FLASHING AT 10,964 MILES RANDOMLY WHEN SPEEDED OVER 50 MPH. DEALERSHIP INSTALLED NEW ENGINE NO START SO CHECKED FOR OIL PRESSURE AND FOUND 25 PSI WHILE CRANKING. REPLACED VVAA ASSEMBLY ENGINE WILL STILL NOT START. FINDING: CRANKSHAFT HAS SEVERE END PLAY AND WAS EATEN AWAY AT THE BLOCK. SUSPECTED: MAIN BEARING TO BE LEFT LOOSE FROM FACTORY. VEHICLE KEPT AT DEALERSHIP SINCE MARCH 7TH UNTIL MAY 3RD 2018.
WITH 6100 MILES AND 7 MONTHS ON MY RENEGADE I'VE HAD TO PUT IN OVER 3 QUARTS OF OIL. WHEN THE OIL LEVELS DROP THE JEEP STALLS WHILE TURNING. IF THIS ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED AN UNEXPECTING DRIVER COULD FIND THEMSELVES GETTING SEVERELY INJURED. FROM THE FORUMS THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIPS ARE CLAIMING THE CONSUMPTION AND STALLING ARE NORMAL. IF MY ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED I WILL BE CONTACTING A LEMON LAW LAWYER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY MONTH A QUARTER OF OIL NEEDED TO BE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NYLE MAXWELL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF AUSTIN (13401 RANCH RD 620 N, AUSTIN, TX 78717, (512) 518-1097) WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER PUT MORE OIL IN THE VEHICLE BUT NOT SURE IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall without warning. The contact mentioned that when the failure occurred, the contact would coast to the side of the roadway to avoid a crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump modulator failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer had replaced the part on two occasions. In the last occurrence, the vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the same part failed and completed the repair however the failure persisted. The failure occurred a total of 4 times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
AS DRIVING OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP I COULD HEAR THE BRAKES SQUEAKING. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS SINCE IT WAS A BRAND NEW CAR, MAYBE THE BRAKES NEED TO BE BROKEN IN. ALTHOUGH, NOW HAVING OVER 20K MILES, THE BRAKE SQUEAK HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME CAUSING MY ROTORS TO BECOME DAMAGED WITH DEEP GROOVES. THE CAR ALSO JERKS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD. IT IS EMBARRASSING, ESPECIALLY WHEN PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE, FOR MY BRAND NEW, BARELY A YEAR OLD, CAR TO BE JERKING SO ROUGHLY. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM OR SOMETHING SIMILAR, PLEASE SPEAK UP SO THIS PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED. THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT BUT HAVE NOT SPOKEN UP, NOW IS THE TIME. INSTRUMENTATION LIGHTS FLICKER WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROADWAY UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. FLASHED TAILLIGHT FAILURE WHEN NO PROBLEM EXISTED WHILE DRIVING ON STATE ROADWAY UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.
WHILE IN MOTION, THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS RANDOMLY INTO A GEAR OR, AND SOMETIMES MISS SHIFTS. WHEN IN SPORT MODE, TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT WHETHER SHIFTED UP OR DOWN LEAVING THE CAR AT SPEED DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC.
I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. MY FOOT WAS LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE, INCHING FORWARD. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING THE JEEP TO JUMP OVER THE DOUBLE BARRIER RETAINING WALL. I NOSE DIVED INTO THE GROUND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL, APPROXIMATELY 3 LOWER THEN PARKING LOT.
I DECIDED TO START THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING REMOTE START DUE TO EXTREME COLD CLIMATE SO I COULD WARM IT LONGER THAN REMOTE START WILL ALLOW. LET IT RUN FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND GO TO DRIVE OFF AND GET UP TO 25-30MPH AND IT STALLED AND MADE AN EXTREMELY LOUD NOISE AND ROUGH VIBRATION THAT MADE IT FEEL LIKE THE WHOLE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS LIT UP IN THE DASHBOARD AND I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO STEER IT OFF THE STREET BY COASTING IT. PROCEEDED TO START IT BUT WOULDN'T BUDGE FOR A GOOD 5-10 MIN UNTIL IT FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONNECTED THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL TO IT AND SAID NOTHING WAS SHOWING UP AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE EXACT SAME WAY, TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME THEY SAID EVERY POSSIBLE ERROR CODE CAME UP AND WERE BAFFLED. THEY WANTED US TO LEAVE THERE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD GET TO IT AND DID NOT OFFER A LOANER VEHICLE, WE HAD TO TELL THEM THAT WE NEEDED IT OR A LOANER FOR COMMUTE AND SO WE HAD TO KEEP IT, THEY FINALLY GOT TO IT AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE ECM MODULE, SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DRIVETRAIN, THEY REPLACED IT AND IT HASN'T OCCURRED AGAIN. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE NOTICED MORE AND MORE THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHIFTING VERY HARD MAKING POPPING NOISES AND JERKING. WE FINALLY DECIDED THAT SOMETHING WASNT RIGHT AND TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WITH A COUPLE OTHER THINGS THAT HAVE GONE WRONG WITH THE CAR. WE HAD TO TAKE IT TWICE FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR A TOTAL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT MID AUGUST, AND I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BY ECM MODULE ISSUE WE HAD TO DEAL WITH FOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN MAKING A NEW CAR PURCHASE BECAUSE OF ALL THE ISSUES WE HAVE HAD WITH IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE OR AT A STOP LIGHT, IT BEGAN TO SHAKE WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FAILED TO CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRAVO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ALHAMBRA (LOCATED AT 1100 W MAIN ST, ALHAMBRA, CA 91801, (626) 283-52120) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW TINT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE WINDOW FAILURE, AND THE OIL WAS AT AN UNSAFE LEVEL AND NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS COMPLETED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL WAS AT AN IMPROPER LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,570.
FIRST BREAKDOWN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AIR BAGS LIGHT CAME ON THEN THE ENGINE LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT SWITCH GEARS AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. SECOND BREAK DOWN EMERGENCY BREAK LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT RELEASE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND CHECK AIRBAGS CAME ON AGAIN. THIRD BREAKDOWN EMERGENCY BREAK LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT RELEASE AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AIR BAGS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND COULD NOT SWITCH GEARS. FOURTH BREAKDOWN WOULD NOT START HAD TO BE TOWED TURNS OUT BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FIFTH BREAKDOWN ENGINE STALLED HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. SIXTH BREAKDOWN REMOTE START THE CAR DID NOT START UP AND THEN WOULD NOT START MANUALLY. SEVENTH BREAKDOWN ENGINE STALLED AGAIN HAD TO BE TOWED WOULD NOT START BACKUP. 8TH BREAKDOWN JEEP WAS SHIFTING REALLY HARD TOOK TO DELAERSHIP NOW HAS TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS CAR IS A YEAR AND A HALF OLD AND HAS HAD ALL THESE PROBLEMS I JUST FOUND OUT THAT JEEPS THAT ARE 2017 AND 2018 HAVE RECALLS THIS VEHICLE HAS THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THE BOBY IS FALLING APART. ALL OF THIS HAS AFFECTED THE GAS MILEAGE. ALL THESE BREAK DOWN WERE CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY.
THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING IF ENGINE OIL SENSOR DETECTS LOW OIL IN ENGINE. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING NO MATTER WHERE YOU DRIVING IE (HIGHWAY OR LOCAL ROADS).
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHIFTING HARD WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP OR DRIVING ALONG AND IT HAPPENS IT RACES WHEN DRIVING AND THEN STALLS IT WANT GO SOMETIMES. ITS BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIP AND WORKED ON IT STILL IS NOT WORKING. IT'S IN THE SHOP AGAIN. I DON'T WANT THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. I NEED TO BE SAFE. IT ALMOST GOT ME HURT TWO TIMES. I NEED IT REPLACED. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE 2017 JEEP RENEGADE IN THAT WHEN THE WASHER FLUID IS USED, THE FLUID DRAINS NEXT TO THE AIR INTAKE AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF VAPOR IS DRAWN INTO THE MAIN CABIN. THIS WAS VERIFIED BY A CERTIFIED JEEP DEALER. WASHER SOLVENT FLUID CAN BE POISONOUS AND HARMFUL IF BREATHED IN. THE AMOUNT OF VAPOR DRAWN INTO THE CABIN CAN BE REDUCED BY USING THE RECIRCULATE FUNCTION, BUT SOME STILL LEAKS IN AND WHEN DRIVING IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, OTHER VEHICLES THROW SALT AND OTHER DEBRIS ON YOUR WINDSHIELD CAUSING YOU TO IMMEDIATELY USE THE FLUID TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BREATH HARMFUL VAPORS IN. IN COLD WEATHER, IF YOU SET THE RECIRCULATE FUNCTION ON SO YOU WON'T BREATH THE VAPORS, THEN THE DEFROSTERS WON'T WORK AND YOUR WINDSHIELD CAN FOG OR ICE UP. THIS IS A HEALTH AND/OR DRIVING SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED OR SOMEONE WILL GET SICK AND/OR HURT.
THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE. I WOULD HAVE REAR END A DODGE RAM TRUCK AT A STOP LIGHT; IF MY FOOT WAS NOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE. THE LUNGING FORWARD, AND HARD SHIFTING HAPPENS RANDOMLY PRIMARILY ON THE DOWNSHIFTING, AND WHEN IT'S COLD OUT. OTHER ISSUES: WHEN USING THE WASHER SOLVENT FLUID THE VAPORS COME BACK THROUGH THE CABIN, MAKING THE CABIN AIR TOXIC TO BREATH. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD HAD TO BE CHANGED; BECAUSE THEY WERE DEEMED DEFECTIVE DUE TO FINDING METAL DEBRIS IN THE BRAKE PAD AT ABOUT 3,100 MILES WHEN I REPORTED THE NOISE AT THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. ELECTRICAL: RANDOMLY THE PUSH START WILL NOT WORK, TURN SIGNAL TURNING RIGHT WILL NOT WORK, AND HEAD LIGHTS WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY COME ON. THIS 2017 JEEP RENEGADE LATITUDE 2.4L HAS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION, WASHER SOLVENT, AND BRAKES STARTED BEFORE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 3,118 MILES; HOWEVER, THE WASHER SOLVENT WAS NOT REPORT UNTIL LATER WHEN I FOUND OUT IT IS TOXIC, AND I ONLY USED IT ABOUT 3-TIMES, AND TURNED THE AIR OFF EACH TIME. ALL DEEMED UNABLE TO DUPLICATE EXCEPT FOR ONE TIME OR NORMAL FOR THE WASHER SOLVENT ISSUE.
MY CALL STALL IN HIGHWAY EVERY TIME
COOLING FAN BREAKS AND CAR OVERHEATS AND SMOKES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR JEEP RENEGADE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WINDWARD CHRYSLER (46177 KAHUHIPA ST, KANEOHE, HI) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE DEALER DESCRIBED THE MATTER AS NORMAL DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
ON 4 OCCASIONS NOW SINCE OWNING MY JEEP RENEGADE THE VEHICLE WILL JERK, CHECK ENHINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE VEHICLE WILL LOCK IN 3RD GEAR. I TRY TO SWITCH TO MANUAL SHIFT AND WILL NOT SHIFT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITH 50 MILES, AND NOW OVER 28,000 MILES WITH REOCCURRING PROBLEMS. ON INSTANCE THE VEHICLE LIGHT WARNING COMES ON INDICATING ALL OF THE LIGHTS ARE OUT IN THE VEHICLE, AND THE LIGHT BUILD INDICATOR WILL REMAIN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND CUT OFF. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER ON THE FIRST INSTANCE, REPLACED THE BSM ON THE SECOND OCCASION, AND SINCE THEN 2 SOFTWARE UPDATES. WHILE BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY DRIVING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT SPECIFIED TO SAFELY ENGAGE MY 4WD LOCK AND SNOW TERRAIN WOULD NOT WORK. ALSO BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL PRESSURE FAIL WARNING LIGHT HAVE TURNED ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE BOTH STATIONARY AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE STREET. THE SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND HAS CONTINUED TO RELIGHT. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THAT A RECALL HAS BEGAN CALLED T50- INCORRECT SOFTWARE COMBINATION/FMVSS101-2017 JEEP RENEGADE WITH AN ISSUES OF FAULTY CIRCUIT PANELS HAVING MULTIPLE INDICATOR LIGHTS LIGHTING UP DEEMING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE SINCE THE DRIVER WOULD NOT ACTUALLY KNOW WHEN THEY ARE TRUELY AT RISK AND COULD BE INVOKED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY JEEP AS OF YET IS NOT SHOWING UP IN THE RECALL PER MY VIN# YET I AM SUFFERING FROM THE SAME ISSUES AS THE RECALL. MY MANUAL STATES TO NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHILE THESE INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE ON BUT MY DEALER HAS ADVISED ME TO DRIVE IT ANYWAY. THE OIL PRESSURE AND ENGINE INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, I TRIED TO START CAR AND IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRIES TO GET IT TO CRANK OVER. ONCE IT STARTED, THE CAR WAS MAKING AN INTENSE KNOCKING NOISE AND SPUTTERING SO VIOLENTLY IT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE WHOLE CAR TO ROCK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT SETTLED DOWN AND I PULLED ONTO THE STREET AND THE CAR JUST DIED... NO LIGHT INDICATORS AT ALL AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOOKED AS IF THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. AGAIN IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRIES, BUT THE CAR FINALLY STARTED AND BEGAN KNOCKING AND SPUTTERING ABOUT, THEN SETTLED DOWN. I ENTERED THE FREEWAY ONRAMP AND NOTICED WHEN I LET MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WOULD ESSENTIALLY DIE WHILE GOING 60 MILES AN HOUR. I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND BY THE TIME I STOPPED ON THE OFFRAMP, THE CAR HAD DIED AGAIN. I HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I DROVE TO A PARKING LOT AND PRESSED THE ONBOARD BUTTON FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THEY CAME AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 67 DEGREES AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT RAIN SPRINKLE. BEFORE I GOT GAS, THE CAR WAS FINE. I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK AND THE GAS LIGHT HAD JUST COME ON. I HAD NEVER USED VALERO GAS BEFORE AND FOR SOME REASON IT TOOK 13.5 GALLONS TO FILL THE TANK THAT ALREADY HAD A 1/4 OF A TANK IN IT. IN THE PAST THE MOST I HAVE FUELED UP WHILE ON LESS THAN 1/8 OF A TANK WAS 11.8. I'M NOT SURE THE FUEL SITUATION MATTERS, BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD MENTION IT JUST IN CASE. THIS ISSUE WAS REALLY SCARY AND UNNERVING. THE CAR HAS 4500 MILES ON IT.
NEW JEEP RENEGADE WITH 1,600 MILES LOST POWER, JERKED AND STALLED GOING UP A MOUNTAIN FROM ALAMOGORDO, NM TO CLOUDCROFT, NM. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES. UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO OUR DESTINATION. NO ERROR CODES APPEARED. WE WERE ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND DRIVE TO JACK KEY DEALERSHIP IN ALAMOGORDO, NM, WHERE THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT SO THEY RESET THE COMPUTER. AFTER MORE THAN AN HOUR, WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE BACK UP THE MOUNTAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED , BUT WE DIDN'T GET AS FAR THE SECOND TIME. WE WERE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND DECIDED TO DRIVE HOME BACK TO EL PASO. TOOK IT TO SUNLAND PARK JEEP THE NEXT DAY. THEY CALLED YESTERDAY AND SAID THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NO ERROR CODES APPEAR. THEY WERE TOLD BY CORPORATE JEEP TO ADD TWO UPDATES TO THE SOFTWARE. THEY DROVE IT ON TRANSMOUNTAIN RD. WHICH IT HAS ALWAYS DRIVEN VERY WELL ON BEFORE, SINCE IT IS NOT AS STEEP AS THE MOUNTAIN WE HAD TROUBLE ON. WE WILL BE PICKING UP THE JEEP TODAY BUT ARE VERY WORRIED SINCE WE FEEL IT IS DANGEROUS TO STALL IN TRAFFIC. WE BOUGHT THIS JEEP BRAND NEW WITH 12 MILES ON IT FOR OUR TEENAGE DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY AND WE ARE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING HER DRIVE IT. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!
RENEGADE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN WITHIN FIRST MILE AFTER STARTING-UP. HAPPENS DAILY WHENEVER ENGINE IS COLD. SHUT OFF ON ON-RAMPS, TURNS AT AT STOPS. VERY DANGEROUS. TURN SIGNAL AUDIBLE INDICATOR WAS IRREGULAR. THE SITUATION ONLY LASTED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR WENT OUT. I CHECKED ALL LIGHT UPON ARRIVING HOME AND THEY WERE AND ARE NOW FUNCTIONING NORMALLY..IT'S BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED IN THE COMPUTER SETTING RECALL. SHOULD I BE TAKING MY VEHICLE IN ANYWAY?

CAR WILL NOT START. PUSH BUTTON KEY START. LIGHTS ON STEERING COLUMN LIGHT UP, RADIO GOES ON CAR DOESN'T START. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS OF SHUTTING CAR OFF AND ON THE CAR DELAYS AND THEN KICKS OVER. NOTHING WE'D UP WHEN IT HAPPENED WHEN ON THE E AT DEALER.DEALER REPLACE A COMPONENT IN THE PUSH BUTTON KEY START. HAD CAR BACK FOR 5 DAYS. HAPPENED AGAIN X 2. DEALER TOOK CAR AND AGAIN COULD NOT GET TO SIMULATE.

SEAT INOPERABLE AND CANNOT BE REPOSITIONED MANUALLY. UPON FUSE AND RELAY CHANGE OUT FOR SEAT, WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT REAPPEAR AFTER RESTART OF VEHICLE, HOWEVER SEAT STILL NON RESPONSIVE AND STUCK IN CURRENT FULL BACK POSITION MAKING IT A HAZARD FOR A DRIVER LESS THAN 6 FOOT TALL TO OPERATE SAFELY. NEXT DAY, DEALER WAS CALLED AND IS UNAVAILABLE TO SEE VEHICLE FOR OVER ONE WEEK. TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT, VEHICLE WAS STARTED BY REMOTE STARTER AND POWER SEAT NOW FUNCTIONING. PROBABLY A COINCIDENCE ONLY THAT SEAT NOW WORKS HOWEVER VEHICLE TO BE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING.

UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER CHANGED FROM MPH TO KPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS BEING HACKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,700.

ON AT LEAST SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE MAKING A SLOW SPEED LEFT TURN (UNDER 15 MPH) AND ONCE WHILE MAKING A LEFT U-TURN (AT APPROX. 5 MPH), MY 2017 JEEP RENEGADE EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF POWER AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. THERE IS NO ACCELERATION WHILE STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS CONDITION LASTS APPROXIMATELY 3 - 5 SECONDS. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NEARLY REAR-ENDED ME AS MY VEHICLE SLOWED. THE DEALER HAS EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING A CONDITION THAT EXCEEDS A PARAMETER SET BY THE SOFTWARE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CODES "SET" BY THESE OCCURRENCES. THEY ARE A BIT UNNERVING AND A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS CONCERN BEGAN WHEN THE JEEP HAD APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I NOW HAVE 6700 AND THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS AUGUST 4, 2017.
THE FCW PLUS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY OR MAYBE NOT AT ALL. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY A WARNING SYSTEM WITH SENSITIVITY SETTINGS INCORPORATING BREAK AND VISUAL/AUDIBLE WARNINGS. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO INITIATE WELL IN ADVANCE OF A CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCE. APPARENTLY WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES BEING AFFECTED BY THIS DEFECTIVE SYSTEM. CHRYSLER'S RESPONSE IS THAT THE SYSTEM WORKS BECAUSE DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE THAT IT IS WORKING AND NOT TO PHYSICALLY TEST THE SYSTEM AS YOU COULD CRASH THE CAR. THERE IS NO PROGRESSION OF WARNINGS,NO ADVANCED PULSING OF BREAKS. SEEMS TO ONLY WORK AS A LAST MINUTE BREAK DEFAULT BUT I AM NOT EVEN SURE IT DOES THAT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GALEANA CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER, LOCATED AT 180 GREYSTONE BLVD, COLUMBIA, SC 29210, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BUT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND A CODE. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE THE FUEL PUMP OR THE FUEL INJECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HER WITH THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

IT THEN BEGAN TO JERK UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE VEHICLE ITSELF WOULD TURN OFF ON ITS OWN. SEVERAL ICONS CAME ON THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD ONE BEING A LIGHT BOLT SYMBOL AND THE OTHER INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY RESOLVED. ON JULY 22, 2017 THE JEEP RENEGADE FOR THE SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND TURNED OFF AND LOST ITS COMPLETE POWER. I HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ENGAGE NO MATTER THE ATTEMPTS I WOULD TRY TO TURN ON THE RENEGADE. I WAITED FOR AWHILE UNTIL THE TOWING COMPANY CAME TO LOAD UP THE VEHICLE, DURING THIS TIME THE TOWING MAN COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN ON AND ENGAGE NO MATTER HOW MANY ATTEMPTS HE MADE. ON BOTH INCIDENTS MY FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND ON BOTH INCIDENTS THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN TRAVELING AT SPEED LIMITS ABOVE 50MPH. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURE JEEP, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP PERKINS MOTOR IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO. I AM CURRENTLY AN ACTIVE DUTY IN THE ARMY AND HAVE BEEN HAVING CONTINUOUS TROUBLE WITH THE JEEP. I DROPPED OFF THE JEEP RENEGADE AT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER APPROVED DEALERSHIP ON JULY 22, 2017 AND STILL TO THIS DATE AUGUST 19, 2017, THE DEALERSHIP STILL CANNOT FIND THE ROOT OF THE ISSUE. I FEAR THAT IF I WERE TO RECEIVE THE VEHICLE BACK UPON THE REPAIRS FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME VEHICLE PROBLEM FROM JUN 12, 2017 THAT THE VEHICLE CAN CAUSE HARM TO EITHER SOME OTHER ROAD PEDESTRIAN, TO MY FAMILY, OR TO MYSELF THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE. TO THIS DAY THE DEALERSHIP STILL CANNOT FIND THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING UP HILL ABOUT 80MILES NORTH BOUND ON I-15 TO LAS VEGAS. THE ENGINE CHECK LIT UP AND SHOWED TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND TO BRING IN FOR SERVICE. THE CAR STALLED AND WE WERE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN BUT WOULD EVENTUALLY STALLED AGAIN AS IT TRIED TO CLIMB THE HILL. IT STALLED ABOUT 5 TIMES UNTIL WE COULD EXIT TO A GAS STATION (~5MILES AWAY) TO EXCHANGE FOR ANOTHER RENTAL CAR. THE CAR HAS ABOUT ~10K MILES ON IT. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 105 DEGREES.
