STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE GARAGE AFTER SHUTTING JEEP OFF FOR PAST 3-4 YEARS. FUEL SPIT ISSUE RESOLVED WITH WARRANTY 12/2013. GAS SMELL AFTER SHUTTING JEEP OFF CONTINUED. 09/2014 DEALERSHIP PULLED CODE P0456, "VENT TUBE AT TANK BROKEN." PAID TO HAVE DEALERSHIP ORDER AND INSTALL A NEW TANK ONLY TO FIND THE "NEW TANK HAS CRACK AT ROLLOVER VALVE," HAD TO ORDER A SECOND REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK, INSTALLED WITH NO PROBLEMS NOTED. HEAVY SMELL OF RESIDUAL FUEL IN THE GARAGE CONTINUED TO PERSIST TO THE POINT WHERE WE HAVE TO LEAVE THE GARAGE OPEN TO VENT THE FUMES FOR FEAR OF IGNITION. COULD NOT VISUALLY IDENTIFY ANY FUEL LEAK. ALL THE WHILE HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMING OFF AND ON POINTING TO EMISSIONS AND FUEL SYSTEM. ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP 07/2015, PULLED CODE P0406, STATED "COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AT THIS TIME." HEAVY GAS SMELL CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. 07/2016 TOOK JEEP TO MECHANIC, PULLED CODES P0456 AND P0486, FOUND THE FUEL TANK VENT TUBE WAS CRACKED AGAIN, NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK AND EGR VALVE. BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. TANK IS OUT OF WARRANTY, HAVE TO REPLACE THE 22 MONTH OLD FUEL TANK AGAIN. THE FUEL SYSTEM HAS HAD CONSISTENT PROBLEMS FROM INCEPTION. THE HEAVY GAS ODOR AND CRACKED FUEL TANKS POSE A SERIOUS LIFE SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A VEHICLE AND/OR A RESIDENCE CATCHES FIRE. THE CONTINUOUS EXPOSURE TO GAS VAPORS ALONE IS SERIOUS CONCERN DUE TO THE CARCINOGENIC NATURE OF FUEL AND ITS VAPORS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IN VARIOUS JEEP FORUMS ONLINE, THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A SINGULAR EVENT AND IS ACTUALLY QUITE COMMON. MANY JEEP ENTHUSIASTS ARE DIY'ERS AND ARE MODIFYING/JURY RIGGING THE VENT TUBE THEMSELVES INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR A REPLACEMENT TANK, WHICH MEANS THERE ARE A LOT OF JEEPS CAUSING HEIGHTENED EMISSIONS AND POSE FURTHER SAFETY CONCERNS THAT ARE GOING UNREPORTED AND THAT YOU ARE UNAWARE OF.

PUMPING GAS TO FILL THE TANK ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. THE SENSOR THAT TELLS THE PUMP TO SHUT OFF DOESN'T WORK CAUSING GAS TO OVERFLOW ALL OVER THE CAR, MYSELF AND THE GROUND. WHAT A WASTE OF PRICEY GAS.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP WRANGLER 2007 WHEN I STARTED TO LOST POWER AND I TRY TO MOVE TO THE EMERGENCY LINE BUT MY BRAKES WENT OUT AND MY WHEEL WERE LOCKED, I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL MY CAR AT ALL, AFTER MY CAR ABRUPTLY STOP I RUN TO GET MY CHILD OUT AND MY CAR WAS ON FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD (PASSENGER SIDE) I DIDN'T HAVE A WARNING, I CHECKED MY DASHBOARD AND NOTHING WAS ON, MY CAR WAS AT THE CHRYSLER DEALER FOR SERVICE TWO WEEKS AGO AND PASS STATE INSPECTION LAST WEEK. THAT'S IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO GET MY BAG AND WALLET, MY CAR WAS ON FLAMES. CHRYSLER NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. WE NEED SOME ANSWERS. MY CAR WAS IN MOTION, IN A HIGHWAY.
MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING FROM OK TO TX, BEFORE THE FIRE MY BRAKES WENT OUT AND MY WHEEL WAS LOCKED. TAKATA RECALL: IN JULY 2016 I RECEIVED NOTICE FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAG SAFETY RECALL. AT THAT TIME NO REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE & I WAS TOLD THAT AVAILABILITY WAS UNKNOWN AT THAT TIME. IN EARLY DECEMBER I WAS NOTIFIED THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE BUT NOW FOR ONLY ONE OF THE AIRBAGS AND THAT WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, AS TO THE 2ND AIRBAG, AGAIN THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THERE IS NO KNOWN DATE WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS A DEFECT AND NOW WAITING OVER 5 MONTHS FOR COMPLETE REPAIR IS NOT RIGHT AND EXTREMELY DISCONCERTING. WHY MAY JEEP TAKE SO LONG TO REPAIR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM?
TAKATA RECALL.: HOW CAN I GET A RENTAL VEHICLE OR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY APPEAR TO HAVE NOTHING IN PLACE TO REPAIR THIS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM? WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE ON THEIR PROBLEM? PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED AND I SHOULDN'T B A VICTIM EITHER. WHILE DRIVING, IF THE VEHICLE HITS A SMALL BUMP, THE FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH UNTIL I AM ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD AND CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET AS THE "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE". WE'VE SPENT $900 TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND HAVE BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT GARAGES TO HAVE IT FIXED AND THE MECHANICS CAN'T FIND ANYTHING MORE THAT IS WRONG AND CLAIM IT'S A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE.

JEEP VIOLENTLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE L. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. FROM DOING RESEARCH ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE WHO OWN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION JEEP JK MODEL. THIS CAN BE EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS WHEN GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR CHANGING LANES AS THE JEEP WILL POP OUT IF GEAR AND NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE DAY ONE OF ME PURCHASING IT.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP AT THE GAS PUMP GAS OVER FLOWS. I'M AFRAID TO FILL UP ANYMORE WHILE BEING ANYWHERE NEAR THIS THING. THE GAS ERITATES MY SKIN AND EYES. THIS IS SO WRONG.

07/01/2016 FCA US LLC MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALL ISSUED NHTSA #16V-352 #S43 PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR STATUS: REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. NO INJURIES OCCURRED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. A FEW WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. ON ONE OCCASION, THE CONTACT COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER AND EXPERIENCED FRONT END DAMAGE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON COLLISION. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY EITHER DRIVER, NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED WHICH STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINE WHICH CAUSED BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE BRAKE LINE, HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE VIN AVAILABLE TO VERIFY THE RECALL. MULTIPLE TIMES YESTERDAY, STARTING WITH (WHICH I THOUGHT NOTHING OF INITIALLY) THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNING ON WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN PARK NOT MOVING. SHORTLY THERE AFTER WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A HIGHWAY ABOUT 45-55 MPH A KNOCK OR CLUNK WAS FELT BENEATH THE FLOOR, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE EAS, TRACTION CONTROL, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHED, THE WIPERS RUNNING EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE OFF, A HARD PULL TO THE RIGHT AND HIGH RUNNING/INCREASING RPM'S ON A LEVEL ROAD WITH MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. I HIT THE HAZARDS, PULLED OFF THE ROAD, LOOKED AT, IN AND UNDER THE JEEP, NOTHING LOOKED AMISS. MY HUSBAND TOOK OVER THE DRIVE, MADE IT ROUGHLY 8-10 MILES WITH OUT ISSUE AND THAN AGAIN EVERYTHING ABOVE BUT IN ADDITION THIS TIME THE HORN BLARED FOR PROBABLY 2 MINUTES, IF NOT MORE, HE PULLED OVER SHUT IT OFF TURNED IT ON WE WENT HOME, WAITED ABOUT 2 HOURS, DROVE ABOUT 15 BLOCKS CITY ROADS WITH HILLS AND TURNS LESS THAN 25MPH ROUND TRIP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. MIGHT BE WORTH MENTIONING, FOR THE LAST MONTH OR SO IN HIGH HEAT 80 DEGREES AND UP, IT HASN'T BEEN STARTING THE FIRST FEW TURNS, BUT THE BATTERY IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD.

WHEN I TURN THE KEY IT READS INVALID SKIM KEY AND WILL NOT CRANK UNLESS THE KEY IS PUSHED INTO THE CYLINDER WHEN A GREAT DEAL OF FORCE.
CLOCK SPRING FAILURE. HORN WILL NOT HONK WHEN PRESSED AND AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF PERIODICALLY. OCCURS BOTH WHEN STATIONARY AND MOVING.
BAD CLOCK SPRING. AIR BAG LIGHT AND RELATED CHIMES CONTINUE TO GO OFF. HAD SHOP CHECK CODES AND FOUND CLOCK SPRING BAD.

WHILE GOING APPX. 55-70MPH, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, GO OVER A BUMP IN ROAD (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A BIG BUMP) VEH. STARTS SHAKING, STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS. HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND DOES NOT MATTER WHERE. VEH. PULLS EXTREMELY HARD NOT WANTING TO GO FORWARD. MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS HAVE ALSO BEEN DOCUMENTED ON THIS. MAYBE IF I MARKED A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OR DEATH CAUSED BY THIS, JEEP WOULD DO SOMETHING. I HAVE COMPLETED A FIX THAT HAS BEEN GOOD NOW FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. REPLACED BALL JOINTS, ADDED TO STEERING SHOCKS TO KEEP STEERING FORWARD, REPLACE BOTH TIE RODS, FRONT END ALIGNMENT, NEW SHOCKS (ALL 4). HAVE PAID OUT MY PART ON KEEPING MY JEEP SERVICED. BUT, JEEP STILL HAS NOT ANSWERED THIS COMPLAINT NOW FOR YEARS. EXPAND QUESTION: WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN. IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2007. JEEP DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

JEEP NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE CRIMP CONNECTION FAILS SPILLING TRANS FLUID
MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TRIED CLEANING THE WIRING CONNECTORS UNDER THE FRONT SEAT BUT THIS HAS HAD NO EFFECT ON THE LIGHT GOING ON OR OFF. THIS HAPPENS SOMETIMES AS IT IS SITTING STILL AS WELL AS WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE FOUND THIS BEING AN ISSUE WHILE RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE IN EVERY FORUM THAT I HAVE SEARCHED IN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY WHEN AND IF NEEDED. I HAVE KIDS THAT DRIVE AND RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE.

AT ANY GAS STATION (VEHICLE STATIONARY) WHEN FILLING UP FUEL TANK, USING THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF ON THE PUMP, IT WILL SHUT OFF, BUT ALWAYS ALLOWS GAS TO OVERFLOW AND SPEW A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS OUT THE FILLER HOLE AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP. SUSPECT SOME SORT OF FILLER NECK OR GAS TANK VENTILATION PROBLEM. THIS MOST RECENTLY HAPPENED TODAY (1/11/16), BUT HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I'VE FILLED THE GAS TANK SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO.

THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AT RANDOM, MY HORN NO LONGER WORKS. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY. I GOT THE RECALL INFORMATION STATING THAT THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY MAY BECOME CONTAMINATED, BUT MY VIN IS NOT ONE THAT IS OFFICIALLY RECALLED. I WOULD REALLY LIKE THIS FIXED AS IT IS A SHOW VEHICLE. "TAKATA RECALL" AS OF YESTERDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2015, A WHITE TAPE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. A FEW WEEKS AGO, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO BACK OFF WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD BUT, IT WENT BACK OUT SO I WASN'T CONCERNED AND IT NEVER STAYED ON FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. THEN YESTERDAY I GET IN MY JEEP TO GO TO WORK AND AS I TURN THE WHEEL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I COULD HEAR THIS NOISE LIKE SOMEONE WAS WRINKLING UP PAPER. IT IS ONLY EIGHT MILES FROM MY HOME TO WORK SO, I KEPT LISTENING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. BY THE TIME I GOT TO WORK, THERE WAS A WHITE TAPE COMING OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER WORK, I TOOK IT AND HAD IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE "CLOCK SPRING" IS UNRAVELING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. USUALLY THIS IS ONLY SEEN WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG HAS BEEN DEPLOYED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT SO, IT SHOULD NOT BE UNRAVELING INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. I WAS ALSO TOLD, I SHOULDN'T DRIVE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE IS A CHANCE THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY. I GOT IT HOME AND NOW IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE VEHICLE HIT SOMETHING ON THE ROAD (SMALL BUMP) WHICH RESULTED IN A VIOLENT SHAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCED LEARNED THAT THIS CONDITION IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE CONDITION WAS SO VIOLENT I WAS FORCED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST FOUR WEEKS. THE FIRST INSTANCE I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE SECOND INSTANCE I WAS IN A CURVE. THE CONDITION DOES NOT RESOLVE ITSELF ALTHOUGH THE MAGNITUDE OF THE VIBRATION DOES DECREASE WITH SPEED. THE VEHICLE IS UNDRIVABLE WITH THIS CONDITION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 55-70 MPH. THE CONDITION IS INDUCED BY NORMAL UNDULATIONS AND VARIATIONS IN THE ROAD (I.E.: NOT ONLY A HUGE POTHOLE). AFTER STOPPING ON THE SHOULDER AND INSPECTING THE UNDERCARRIAGE I NOTICED NOTHING UNUSUAL. I RESUMED DRIVING HOWEVER, THE CONDITION DID NOT RESOLVE ITSELF AND I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE BELOW 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY (AS I HAD NO OTHER OPTIONS). AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR ~30 MINS I DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE CONDITION WAS NOT PRESENT. EACH OCCURRENCE WAS RESOLVED THE SAME WAY BY ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO REST. CHRYSLER DID RELEASE A TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVISORY THAT DESCRIBES WHAT TO CHECK. MY ISSUE IS THAT BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ENCOUNTERING PROBLEMS WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE (MY VEHICLE IS AT 65K) THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE VICE THE CONSUMER TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT OR PREMATURELY WORN PARTS.
I BOUGHT A USED 2007 JEEP WRANGLER 2 DR, 4X4 SOFT TOP, IN OCT 20014. IT HAD 82,000 MILES. I HAD NO PREVIOUS BUYING ON THIS MODEL. I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES IN NORTH EAST OHIO. I DRIVE ALMOST 90 MILES, ROUND TRIP, PER WORK WEEK. I NOTICED A SLIGHT BOUNCE IN THE FRONT END, SUSPENSION DURING HIGHWAY POSTED SPEEDS OF 65 MILES PER HOUR. I CHANGED THE THE SHOCKS 4 EA.AFTER MY FRONT STRAIGHT AXIAL BEGAN TO BOUNCE UP AND DOWN, WELL THE BOUNCE WAS WORSE, AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TRYING TO HANDLE ROAD CONDITION, EVEN CHANGING ROUTE, TO AVOID THE BOUNCE, AT HIGHWAY SPEED 60 MILES AND UNDER, IT WAS COLD OUT 40 DEGREES, HEAVY TRAFFIC CHRISTMAS TIME, RUSH HOUR, MY JEEP WENT INTO A RADICAL BOUNCE CALLED " DEATH WOBBLE " AS NOTED IN THE JEEP WORLD, NOT NOTED BY JEEP, I HAD THREE, IN THE ROW, ONE WORSE, THAN THE ONE BEFORE. THE BOUNCING CAUSED A TRANSMISSION COOLING LINE TO DIS-LARGE, FROM A SITED COUPLING, TO THE ENGINE RADIATER. THE LOSE OF 4 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SPILL ON THE 5 LANE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED A LOSE IN SPEED, SMOKE AND RPM ADVANCE, FROM 1800 TO 4000 RPMS IN LESS THAN A MINUTE. NOW I HAD TO NAVIGATE MY WAY THROUGH 4 LANES OF HEAVY 60 MILES TO 75 MILE AN HOUR TRAFFIC, WITH OUT GETTING HIT. WITHIN TWO MILES I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I HAD A FLASHLIGHT, I LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING, BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING DARK OUT, I WENT UP FRONT AND LOOKED AT THE FRONT END AND SAW TRANSMISSION FLUID. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND CALLED FOR A TOW. 2 HOURS LATER, PLUS 77.00 DOLLARS, I WENT HOME. I LIVE ON A BUDGET. I WROTE JEEP, BUT WITHOUT A WORD, FROM THEM. SO I LOOKED AT MY OWNERS MANUAL, AND SAW NOTHING ABOUT CHANGING SHOCKS, COIL SPRINGS AT MILES MAINTENANCE SERVICE INTERVALS. I NOTICED YOUR NAME, SO I CONTACTED YOU FOR HELP.
