WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED HIT A BUMP AND I GET A VIOLENT UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING OF FRONT END.
THE FUSE BOX CAUGHT FIRE/WIRE HARNESS MELTED AND WAS SMOKING BEFORE SOMEONE WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO STOP MORE DAMAGE.
AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIME KEEP GOING OFF . I DON'T FEEL THAT ITS SAFE AND I'M DOCUMENTING IT IN CASE IT FAILS TO WORK AND I DON'T MAKE IT .
DEATH WOBBLE - AT 55 MPH OR ABOVE YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT AXLE BEGINS VIOLENTLY OSCILLATING, CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE (OR WOBBLE) IN A MANNER WHICH MAKES THE VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL.
TAKATA RECALL , 1 MONTH AGO THE AIR BAG LIGTH TURN ON IN MY CLUSTER AND I DONT KNOW HOW HE TURN OF EVERITYNG LOOKS FINE JUST THAT LIGTH AND THE BELL SONDS EVERY FEW MINUTES.
WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS OF DRIVING I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 65 MPH AND HIT A SMALL BRIDGE BUMP, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO PULL OVER. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. THE SHAKING WAS STILL THERE JUST NOT AS VIOLENT. IN THE PAST 7 YEARS I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAY THEY FIXED IT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT THEY CHARGED ME OVER $3,000.00 TO FIX IT. AGAIN GOT A LITTLE BETTER FOR AWHILE, THE SHAKING WASN'T AS BAD. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAD SOMEONE TAKE A VIDEO ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER I HIT A BRIDGE BUMP SHOWING VIOLENT SHAKING AND DANGEROUS CONTROL. I SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE AND TOLD ME TO CALL CHRYSLER. I CALLED THEM THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM BUT WOULD GET BACK TO ME IN A WEEK. TWO WEEKS WENT BY SO I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH TOLD ME TO CALL THEM. I AM DRIVING A DEATH TRAP ON THE INTERSTATE AND NO ONE WILL IDENTIFY AND FIX THE PROBLEM. GOING 55 TO 60 MPH THE JEEP STARED TO GO INTO A DEATH WOBBLE. I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY MOVE INTO THE BREAK DOWN LANE. ON I 95 IN AUGUSTA MAINE
OVER THE LAST 2 YEAR, I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES STARTING MY JEEP. IT WOULD NOT CRANK AT ALL 2 OR 3 TIMES AND THAN START WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT WOULD BE FINE FOR A FEW DAYS AND THAN DO IT AGAIN. MORNING, AFTERNOON, WHEN RAINING OR SNOWING, IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. STARTING 3 DAYS AGO, MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS COMING ON WHEN TURNING LEFT AND THAN WOULD GO OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. TODAY, I HAD IT CHECKED AT WORK AND IT CAME UP AS THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG IS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. I DROVE TO BIG O DODGE IN GREENVILLE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT JUST BLEW ME OFF TELLING ME THAT THEIR IS NO RECALLS OR PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP. BUT I HAPPENED TO KNOW ONE OF THE TECHNICIAN THERE THAT TOLD ME ON MY WAY OUT THAT THEY ARE HAVING SOME ISSUE WITH THE WRANGLERS CONCERNING THESE ISSUES. SO I DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE AND COME ACROSS A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAIN ON FORUMS CONCERNING MY ISSUES AND THAN CAME ACROSS YOUR WEB SITE. THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN AS THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE. ON A 25 MILE STRETCH OF ROAD BETWEEN SONOITA, AZ AND TUCSON, ARIZONA I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD 5 TIMES IN ONE TRIP TO STOP DANGEROUS AND ALMOST UNMANAGEABLE FRONT-END STEERING VIBRATIONS. JEEP AS FAR AS I KNOW HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL, BUT FROM READING AUTOMOTIVE LITERATURE I UNDERSTAND THAT HAVE ISSUED 4 OR 5 MODIFICATION KITS NONE OF WHICH HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM. THE JEEP STEERS NORMALLY AT LOW SPEED OR ON STRAIGHT GLASS SMOOTH HIGHWAYS. HOWEVER ABOVE 40 MPH WITH ANY RHYTHMIC RIPPLE OR INDIVIDUAL POTHOLE A FRONT END HOPPING VIBRATION STARTS THAT CAN ONLY BE CONTROLLED BY STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND THEN PULLING BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I HAD A NON-DEALER GARAGE FIX IT ONCE AND JEEP REIMBURSED ME (BUT NO FORMAL RECALL). THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED IN SIX MONTHS AND I PRESSURED THE GARAGE INTO FIXING IT AGAIN. SOME TIME AFTER THAT THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. ACCORDING TO AUTOMOTIVE LITERATURE JEEP AS ISSUED 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT ENGINEERING CHANGES FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT NONE HAVE PRODUCED A PERMANENT FIX. THIS TELLS ME THAT THE "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE" IS LESS IF A WEAR ISSUE, BUT RATHER AN ENGINEERING FAILURE. ONCE THE FRONT END STARTS TO BOUNCE THE TIRE IN CONTACT WITH THE ROAD WILL STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEN THE TIRE ON THE OTHER SIDE COMES DOWN AND STEERS THE OTHER DIRECTION AND THE FRONT END BOUNCES SIDED-TO-SIDE WITH INCREASING VIOLENCE.
PICKED UP APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF CORD OF WOOD USING MY UTILITY TRAILER, OVER-DRIVE DISABLED WHEN PULLING TRAILER. BACKED TRAILER INTO YARD TO UNLOAD THE ALREADY SEASONED AND SPLIT WOOD. PUT JEEP INTO PARK, ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE AND LEFT THE JEEP TO DROP THE TRAILER, HEARD A POP AND FLAMES BEGAN TO SHOOT OUT FROM UNDER THE JEEP. I REACHED INTO THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEY. I HEARD ANOTHER POP AND SAW THAT FLAMES WERE NOW SHOOTING INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I RAN INTO MY HOUSE TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, CAME BACK OUT, OPENED THE HOOD CAREFULLY AND BEGAN TO TRY AND EXTINGUISH THE FLAME. IN ORDER TO FULLY PUT OUT THE FIRE IT TOOK THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND MULTIPLE BUCKETS OF WATER. AFTER THE FIRE WAS FULLY EXTINGUISHED I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE CARRIER.
WHEN GOING 55MPH DOWN THE ROAD ,IT BEGINS TO SHAKE WITH NO WARNING,I SEEN WHERE SOME PEOPLE CALL IT THE DEATH WOBBLE,IN ORDER FOR IT TO STOP SHAKING YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP,AND THIS HAPPENS WHEN WE DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN ,AND WE HAVE OWENED THIS JEEP SINCE 9/14/2015 WE BOUGHT IT USED
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HIT A SMALL BUMP ON MY REAR WHEEL AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WHOLE VEHICLE HAD STARED TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL I HAD TO MOVE OF THE ROAD AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER FOR THE WHEEL TO STOP SHAKING
AT 2 MPH IN 2H AND 1ST GEAR OF MANUAL TRANSMISSION, DROVE ONTO A WET GRASSY AREA AND ENGAGED THE TRANSFER CASE INTO 4H. AFTER 150 FEET AT 3 MPH AND VEHICLE ROLLING, I DEPRESSED CLUTCH AND SHIFTED TRANSFER CASE INTO 4L. MADE U-TURN AND CREPT AT 2 MPH. MOVING FORWARD, DEPRESSED CLUTCH, LET OFF GAS AND SHIFTED TRANSFER CASE INTO 4H, DROVE TO THE EDGE OF STREET AND STOPPED. WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, AND CLUTCH DEPRESSED, I SHIFTED THE TRANSFER CASE INTO 2H POSITION BUT HEARD SNAPPING SOUND AND THE LEVER WENT LOOSE. TAKING HOLD OF THE LEVER, I FOUND IT FLOPPED FREELY FORWARD AND BACK. MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS IN FIRST GEAR, BUT WHEN I LET THE CLUTCH UP, THE VEHICLE DIDNT MOVE. MOVED THE GEARSHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO 1ST GEAR. RELEASED THE CLUTCH BUT THE VEHICLE DIDNT MOVE. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE, AND INSPECTED UNDERNEATH. NOTHING HANGING FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR TRANSFER CASE. DEPRESSED CLUTCH, PUT GEARSHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED. PUT THE GEARSHIFT LEVER INTO 1ST, BUT WHEN I LET UP ON CLUTCH, THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. I RELEASED THE CLUTCH WITH GEARSHIFT LEVER IN 1ST AND RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD INTO THE SWALE. VEHICLE TOWED TO JEEP DEALERSHIP. INVOICE STATES, "CUSTOMER STATES WHILE SHIFTING VEH. INTO 4H SOMETHING SNAPPED AND NOW VEH. WON'T GO INTO GEAR AT ALL. TECH FOUND TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CABLE BROKEN AT BOTH ENDS. COMPLETED REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT OF TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CABLE. MY CONCERN IS THIS COULD HAPPEN WHEN SOMEONE SHIFTS INTO 4H WHILE DRIVING ON A WET, SLIPPERY ROAD SURFACE UP TO 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD QUICKLY LOOSE FORWARD MOMENTUM, COASTING TO A STOP, AND POSSIBLY BE STRUCK FROM BEHIND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WHEN I HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FRONT END STARTS TO SHAKE SO BAD, I HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO ACCIDENTS TRYING TO GET OUT OF PEOPLES WAY. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT, HEAVEN FORBID MY WIFE EVER DRIVES IT. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS CALLED THE JEEP DEATH SHAKE, AND IT HAPPENS TO ALOT OF JEEP OWNERS, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX IT BEFORE ANYONE ELSE DIES, I HAVE HEARD THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE DIED.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON CLUSTER BLINKS AND ALSO MAKES A BEEPING SOUND. IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF,THEREFORE THERE WILL BE A PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IF A ACCIDENT OCCURS.THERE ARE NO CURRENT RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM,ONLY ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. IF THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM,THE DEALER WILL NOT FIX IT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THE DEALER FOR THIS SAFETY DEFECT,AS IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000.
THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE BETWEEN THE FRAME MOUNT AND THE CONNECTING POINT ON THE BRAKE CYLINDER, BLEW OUT AT THE SNAP CONNECTION END. THIS RESULTED IN COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL HYDRAULIC BRAKING ABILITY. THE CAUSE OF THE BREAKAGE WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE HOSE RUBBING AGAINST THE INNER TIRE WALL WHENEVER THE TIRES WERE TURNED TO THE FULL STOP POSITION OF LEFT OR RIGHT DIRECTION. BOTH ( RIGHT AND LEFT ) BREAK HOSES RUB THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES. HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED POSSIBLY CAUSING INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO PEOPLE. AS IT WAS, THE LINE BLEW WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT. I DO HAVE PICTURES AVAILABLE PLUS THE DAMAGED PART FOR REVIEW.
THE HORN WILL NOT WORK AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CHIMES OFF AND ON. AND NOW I HAVE INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. I CAN DRIVE UP THE ROAD AND CUT IT OFFAND THEN GET BACK IN AND IT WON'T START. BUT WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT'LL START RIGHT UP
WHEN I DRIVE OVER 50 MPH AND HIT A BUMP, THE FRONT END OF THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY. IT BECOMES VERY HARD TO CONTROL. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING IS TO SLOW DOWN WHICH MADE IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED.
DURING NORMAL STREET DRIVING THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS TURNING ON AND OFF FOR THE 5 MILE DRIVE HOME. TRIED TURNING CAR OFF AND ON, THE. TRIED PUSHING THE FUSES DOWN TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T THAT. ALSO RECENTLY REPLACED THE TIPM. SO FAR, I'M NOT LIKING THIS JEEP. A LOT OF PROBLEMS. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. THEIR HAS BEEN NO CRASH. IT JUST CAME ON AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CLOCKSPRING. WAS ALSO TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2007 TTO 2011 JEEP WRANGLERS. THE COST IS ABOUT $500 TO $600 TO FIX.
FUEL SPILLS OUT OF THE FUEL TANK FILL OPENING WHEN FILLING THE TANK EVERYTIME. IF YOU ARE NEAR THE FUEL CAP YOU WILL GET SPRAYED WITH FUEL.
MY JEEP LOST ALL POWER AND BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. THE ABS AND BRAKE LINES ARE CHARRED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE FROM OVERHEATING AND THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS WAS DAMAGED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AND NATIONAL DODGE JACKSONVILLE NC AWAITING REPAIRS. MIKE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE ABS OVERHEATED BUT NO FIRE BUT ANOTHER MECHANIC I HAD LOOK AT IT SAID THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50-70 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHOOK AND EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING STABILIZER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,985. UPDATED 02/10/16*LJ THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP, WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON STARTING VEHICLE, HORN SOUND CONSTANT, WIPERS TURN ON, WINDSHIELD SPRAYER SQUIRTS, BACK UP LIGHT TURN ON AND DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATES. TURNED OFF IGNITION AND REMOVED KEY, DASHBOARD LOST POWER, BUT ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, DISCONNECTED BATTERY AND APPROXIMATELY 90 SECONDS LATER, ENGINE QUITE RUNNING
HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING, HORN HONKING, AND DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT RESPOND. COULD NOT DISABLE HORN WITH KEY FOB AS USUAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. THE JEEP DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS A FAULTY TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE)......UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF UPDATED 10/26/2017*CN
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND RECENTLY THE HORN STOPPED WORKING ALSO. I HAVE FOUND A RECALL, BUT WHEN SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT MY AVAILABLE RECALLS, IT IS NOT LISTED. THE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER IS PE11019 AND MY MAKE AND MODEL IS LISTED IN THE CAMPAIGN. WAS TOLD TO GET THE OTHER RECALLS ADDRESSED AND SEE IF IT WOULD HELP WITH THE PROBLEM.
MY HORN QUIT WORKING THE SAME TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILIZER CONTROL / BAS LIGHT CAME ON.
JEEP OVERHEATED IN TRAFFIC. TURNS OUT COOLING FAN WAS NOT WORKING. ALL FUSES AND RELAYS WERE CHECKED. TURNS OUT IT WAS THE TIPM. YOU WOULD THINK BY NOW JEEP WOULD PAY FOR THIS FIX. ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS PART IS A NATION WIDE BACK ORDER. AND IT'S A $600 PART!
I HAVE HAD THE "DEATH WOBBLE" SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP. THIS HAPPENED ON BOTH STOCK SUSPENSION AND MODIFIED SUSPENSION AND SO FAR, IT HAS HAPPENED EASILY WELL OVER 160 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THIS LAST YEAR (I LOST COUNT AS IT HAPPENS FEQUENTLY). I'VE DISHED OUT WELL OVER $1,000 TO FIX (SO FAR), HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS (NOV. 2, 2014 AND APR. 14, 2015, BOTH MINOR WITH NO POLICE REPORTS MADE EITHER TIME) AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS, COUNTLESS NEAR MISSES, MANY A DRINK SPILLED ON THE FLOOR BOARD OR MYSELF THEN THE FLOOR THANKS TO EITHER THE GUT-WRENCHING WOBBLE ITSELF, OR HAVING TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS. EVEN MORE UNSAFE, IS THAT EVERYTIME IT HAPPENS, THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS TO STOP IMMEDIATELY OR RISK FURTHER DAMAGE AND/OR LOSING CONTROL. THIS MEANS HAVING TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS MANY TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HOPE THAT 1.) I'M ACTUALLY DRIVING AS MY FIANC WOULDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO KEEP CONTROL 2.) I MAINTAIN ENOUGH CONTROL TO GUIDE THE JEEP TO AN EMERGENCY LANE SO I CAN STOP SAFELY. 3.) HOPE THAT OTHER DRIVERS ARE PAYING ATTENTION AND DON'T HIT ME. THIS IS REDICULOUS, AND THE MORE IT HAPPENS, THE LESS SAFE I FEEL, AND THE MORE RISK THAT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE PLACED IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 50 MPH RIGHT FRONT TIRE HIT A POTHOLE REPAIR/BUMP. THIS THREW MY FRONT END INTO MAJOR OSSCILLATION/WOBBLE. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 35 BEFORE IT WOULD STOP. SINCE THAT FIRST TIME IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. NOW IT'S HAPPENING ONCE A DAY AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE REPLACED SHOCKS AND BALL JOINTS WHICH HASNT WORKED. ACTUALLY GOTTEN WORSE.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY THE HORN STARTED HONKING,WIPERS STARTED ON THEIR OWN AS WELL AS WIPER FLUID SQUIRTING , RADIO CAME ON AND LIGHTS TURNING ON AND OFF. PULLED OVER AND EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED IGNITION THE CAR REMAINED RUNNING WITH ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT RUNNING OFF AND ON. IT SEEMS THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEP/ CHRYSLER VEHICLES. I REPLACED THE BATTERY CABLES AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN UNTIL I REMOVED THE BATTERY CABLES. I REMOVED THE BATTERY CABLES TO THE CAR BECAUSE I'M CONCERNED THAT THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM MAY CAUSE A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND POSSIBLY BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. *TR
FAULTY AIR BAG CLOCKSPRING
CLOCKSPRING RECALL. I OWN A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER V6 AUTOMATIC WITH 86000 MILES. AROUND APRIL 25TH 2015 I NOTICED THE AIRBAG DASH LIGHT WOULD LIGHT UP AND DING EVERY FEW MINUTES. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL JEEP. I TOOK MY JEEP TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK FOR ITS REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED STATING THE CLOCKSPRING WAS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. I ASKED HIM IF THE JEEP WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECENT RECALL AND HE SAID HE "COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT IT IN HIS SYSTEM". I EXPLAINED WHAT I HAD READ ONLINE ABOUT ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE CLOCKSPRING REPLACEMENT. HE TOLD ME THE ONLY WAY THE DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGING ME $700 IS IF I HAD PROOF OF THE RECALL. ASIDE FROM THIS PROBLEM BEING ANNOYING , I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IF THE AIRBAG WOULD PROPERLY FUNCTION IF MYSELF OR MY WIFE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT. ANY HELP WITH THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN CITY DRIVING THE TRAC BAR MOUNT ATTACHED TO THE FRAME BROKE OFF. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE ON HE FREEWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY! THIS JEEP HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE I GOT IT 5 MONTHS AGO. I HAD TO WELD THE TRAC BAR MOUNT AND INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET SUPPORT BRACKET. UNFORTUNATELY THIS PROBLEM IS SO MUCH THAT THEY MAKE AN AFTERMARKET PART FOR IT!
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND BEGAN TO COME FROM MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AS I SLOWED TO EXIT (AT THE NEXT INTERCHANGE) THE 3.8L V6 ENGINE HAD A BEARING SEIZE AND THREW A ROD OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BLOCK. FROM THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT FOR CHRYSLER. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS ENGINE FAILING EVEN WITH IMPECCABLE MAINTENANCE. I RECEIVED NO INDICATIONS OR WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE BLOWING. JUST AS I SLOWED DOWN THE OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED BUT AT THAT POINT IT WAS TOO LATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED A FAILURE CODE AT THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS OUT OF OIL AND CONTAINED METAL FRAGMENTS, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. NO LEAKS WERE FOUND TO SUPPORT WHY THE ENGINE WAS OUT OF OIL. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
I PARKED MY JEEP IN MY DRIVE WAY AROUND 12 PM AFTER ON MONDAY, APRIL 6TH. AROUND 4 PM THE SAME DAY A FIRE, THAT APPEARED TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE, STARTED IN THE DASH INSIDE THE FACTORY GPS/RADIO SYSTEM. THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION. I WAS ALERTED BY MY NEIGHBOR THAT MY JEEPS EMERGENCY FLASHERS WERE ON AND IT WAS SMOKING. WE RUSHED TO THE JEEP, THE WINDOWS WERE ALL BURNT BLACK THE FIRE WAS JUST SMOLDERING BECAUSE THE DOORS AND WINDOWS WERE SHUT. MY DAD AND I QUICKLY GRABBED TWO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND WHEN WE OPENED THE DOORS THE FIRE ENGULFED THE ENTIRE FRONT DASH. AFTER A FEW USES OF THE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS WE MANAGED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE TOO MUCH DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE ENTIRE FRONT DASH WAS MELTED AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. WE SUSPECT THE VEHICLE TO BE TOTALED BUT WE HAVE HEARD BACK FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA AND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I STRUCK THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE I HIT. THE FINAL TOTAL FOR REPAIRS OF MY JEEP WERE APPROXIMATELY $13,000. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN MY VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO HIT MY WRIST AGAINST THE THE STEERING WHEEL AND I SUFFERED A MODERATE WRIST INJURY THAT STILL BOTHERS ME MONTHS LATER. I WOULD THINK WITH $13,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE IT WOULD BE SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO GET THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY BUT IT DID NOT. WHEN I FILL UP MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER, IT PUKES UP GAS AFTER FILLING UP AND IT HAS BEEN REALLY GETTING WORSE LATELY.
MY JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X HAS STALLED 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE AND THE VEHICLE'S POWER GOES OUT FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE NO MORE THAN 2 SECONDS. GAS TANK SPIT BACK DURING FUEL FILLING.
