WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SEVERAL ISSUES PRESENTED WITHOUT WARNING: SUDDENLY THE WIPERS STARTED GOING, WINDSHIELD FLUID SPRAYING, HORN BLARING AND LIGHTS FLASHING. TAKATA RECALL, I KEEP RECEIVING CALLS REGARDING MY RECALL. MY JEEP WAS IMPORTED FROM PUERTO RICO AND THEY HAVE THE AIRBAG AND THE DEALERSHIP HERE DOES NOT HAVE ANY AIRBAGS AND COULD NOT HELP ME. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER AN YEAR FOR THE AIRBAG. LAST WEEK I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN LAKE ORION, MI AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A STATUS ON WHEN THEY WILL BE RECEIVING THESE AIRBAGS. MY CONCERN IS I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND ITS MY ONLY VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE ON THIS RECALL.
I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE NHTSA ONCE BEFORE BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING. MY JEEP IS EXPERIENCING A "DEATH WOBBLE" SO BAD THAT I HAVE LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. 3.8L, HAS HAD A TIPM ISSUE FOR YEARS,I VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE, BUT THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES, HORN BLOWING AND WONT STOP,WASHER AND WIPERS COME ON AND WONT STOP UNTIL BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED,DOOR LOCK WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO,A/C BLOWER WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO..ALL OF WHICH RETURN TO NORMAL AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND THEN RE-CONNECTING, AT LEAST TEMPORARILY...BUT EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT I WORRY ABOUT IT GOING CRAZY...TODAY IT SHUT OFF COMPLETELY ON ME GOING 70MPH ON A BUSY FREEWAY,ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AGAIN AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY(ON THE SIDE OF A VERY BUSY FREEWAY)IT RETURNED TO NORMAL AND I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AGAIN..CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE, I WILL PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED MYSELF ($1200)AND HOPE THAT'S THE WHOLE ISSUE,BUT THIS ISSUE IS MUCH LARGER IF YOU WATCH YOU TUBE VIDEOS AND READ THE JEEP FORUMS...THIS WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS OR WORSE.....CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THESE AS THEY HAVE OTHERS.....
RANDOMLY THE HORN STARTS GOING OFF, WIPER FLUID SHOOTING OUT AND THE WIPERS GOING LIKE CRAZY, AIR CONDITIONER NOT WORKING. NOTHING YOU CAN DO WILL MAKE IT STOP, IT JUST, AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES DOES STOP. VARIATION OF THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS. THE DEALER CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG AND SAYS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNLESS WE CAN BRING IT IN WHILE THE CAR IS LOOKING POSSESSED. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT MAY BE THE TIPM BUT CANNOT CONFIRM AND GIVEN THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING IT DON'T RECOMMEND THAT WE DO SO WITHOUT KNOWING FOR SURE THIS IS THE PROBLEM. OF COURSE THIS MAKES IT A PROBLEM TO BE DRIVING THIS CAR, AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE WIPERS AND HORN WILL START GOING CRAZY. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING MY 19 YEAR OLD SONS JEEP WRANGLER AND EXPERIENCED THE SO CALLED DEATH WOBBLE, IT WAS SO BAD OTHER DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY WERE HONKING THEIR HORNS AT ME. MY SON WAS WITH ME AND SAID THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HIM WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-70MPH. THE STEERING VIOLENTLY SHAKES FROM SIDE TO SIDE. IT WILL ONLY STOP IF I SLOW DOWN TO SPEEDS BELOW 20 MPH. I KNOW LONGER ALLOW MY SON TO DRIVE THE JEEP WRANGLER ON THE HIGHWAY AND WILL NOT LET HIM TAKE IT TO COLLEGE WHEN HE STARTS BACK IN THE FALL. I DO NOT WANT TO PUT HIM IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY. THE JEEP IS STOCK; NO LIFTS, AFTERMARKET WHEELS, ETC. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS, LOOSING CONTOL OF YOUR STEERING AT 50+ MPH CANNOT BE SAFE.
TAKATA RECALL. 6 MONTHS AFTER BEING INFORMED OF THE RECALL MY AIRBAG STILL HASN'T BEEN REPLACED. BUT MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER WOULD BE PERFECTLY HAPPY TO SELL ME A BRAND NEW JEEP WITH A BRAND NEW AIRBAG. WHY ARE COMPANIES ALLOWED TO CONTINUE PRODUCING NEW VEHICLES BEFORE FIXING A SAFETY RECALL FOR EXISTING CUSTOMERS? I WANT MY VEHICLE FIXED AND SAFE!

SECOND TIME THE CLOCK SPRING HAS GONE DEFECTIVE. AIRBAG LIGHT ON. DEALERSHIP CHARGING FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. CHECK ALL THE JEEP GROUPS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER.
AIRBAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY AND WHEN THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCKSPRING AND ORDERED THE PART, IT HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED BECAUSE IT WAS ON SPECIAL BACK ORDER AND I WAS TOLD I WAS 503 ON THE WAITING LIST! IT IS APPARENTLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS I'M TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE IT OR THE AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE IS OVER $530.
HEAD LIGHTS AND INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON .CAR IS NOT RUNNING. KEY IS NOT IN IGNATION. WHILE DRIVING CLOCK GOES DARK AND COMES BACK ON SPONTANEOUSLY. WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT BATTERY IS DRAINED COMPLETELY. DIFFICULTY STARTING CAR NEED TO TURN KEY TO OFF POSITION AND LIGHTLY PUSH ON GEAR SHIFT LEAVOR, THEN VEHICLE WILL START. THE ALL HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS EITHER RUNNING OR PARKED IN OFF POSITION
THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND OFF AND SOUNDING A CHIME AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. NOW IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE CLOCKSPRING BUT IT DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND AS IT OBVIOUSLY HAS THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND MY AIRBAG WON'T WORK IN THIS CONDITION AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE HORN, WIPERS, AND WASHER FLUID OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROLLER FOR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS DISCONNECTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION/STICK SHIFT CONSTANTLY VIOLENTLY POPS OUT OF 1ST AND 3RD GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHILE ACCELERATING CAUSING A SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN TRAFFIC OR HAVE THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO ROLL FORWARD (OR BACKWARD IF ON AN UPSLOPE) WHILE TRYING TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. UNLESS AND UNTIL THE DRIVER IS ABLE TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION, THERE IS NO ACTIVE CONTROL OVER THE FORWARD MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE SPEED OR AVOID A POTENTIAL COLLISION. THIS CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS DAMAGE AND/OR INJURY TO THE VEHICLE, DRIVER, DRIVERS OF OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. MANUFACTURE ISSUED A TSB (#21-001-10 REV. A) REGARDING THIS ISSUE CAUSED BY BAD A SYNCHRONIZER ASSEMBLY. DEALER REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY B/C IT HAPPENED LESS FREQUENTLY THEN AND DEALER COULDN'T INDEPENDENTLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOW THAT IT HAPPENS CONSTANTLY THE DEALER REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM B/C THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A KNOWN DANGEROUS DEFECT BUT THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO CORRECT IT.
SPUN REAR BEARING WHICH LEAD TO ENGINE BURNING ALL OIL IN 3500 MILES AND ENGINE LOCKING UP. LOCK UP OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AND STATIONARY.
CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON AND BEEPING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. TOOK JEEP TO DEALERSHIP, WAS ADVISED CLOCKSPRING (IN STEERING COLUMN) WAS FAULTY WITH SQUIB 1 CIRCUIT OPEN. HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ALL REPAIRS, EVEN THOUGH JEEP HAS A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS ISSUE (S33 CLOCKSPRING) FOR SAME MODEL YEAR AND OTHERS. NO RESOLUTION WHEN SPEAKING WITH JEEP CUSTOMER CARE WHO CLAIMED MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE CURRENT RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON FROM A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING AND THE VEHICLE STILL SPITS OUT GAS WHEN I FILL UP.
THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BURST INTO FLAMES AFTER A 15 MILE DRIVE HOME FROM WORK. NO WARNING, NO NOTHING! WITHIN TEN MINUTES THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED IN AN OUT OF CONTROL ELECTRICAL FIRE. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A REPUTABLE DEALER (OBVIOUSLY NOT). HAD TAKEN IT BACK TWICE IN 10 DAYS AND ON THE 13TH DAY AND AFTER ONLY 500 MILES IT DECIDES TO SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST! THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE! IF IT HAD HAPPENED IN THE GARAGE OR WORSE JUST 10 MINUTES EARLIER WHILE FILLING UP THE GAS TANK WHAT WOULD THE OUTCOME HAVE BEEN? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND OUR STUPID GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING AND QUIT WORRYING ABOUT ALL THE POLITICAL NONSENSE ALL DAY EVERY DAY! WHAT THE HECK ARE WE PAYING YOU BUREAUCRATS FOR? NOTHING?
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. UPON INVESTIGATION I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WHO HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, IT IS QUITE COMMON.
AT HIGHWAY SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 50+ MPH, WHEN THE CAR GOES OVER A BUMP OR POTHOLE (IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE A MAJOR BUMP OR HOLE) THE FRONT SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL THE CAR IS SLOWED AND THEN IT RETURNS TO NORMAL. SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND DISCUSSIONS DESCRIBING THIS EXACT SITUATION. THEY CALL IT THE "DEATH WOBBLE".
JEEP DEATH WOBBLE - NOTED ON MANY JEEP FORUMS, WRANGLERS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 70 MPH, ACCELERATING SWIFTLY WHEN ENTERING A FREEWAY ON-RAMP, ON SURFACE STREETS WITH POTHOLES AND/OR BUMPY RIDE - THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY AND LOUDLY. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND AS WELL AS THE WHOLE FRONT DASH - LITERALLY FEELS LIKE YOUR VEHICLE WILL BREAK IN HALF. THE ONLY WAY TO STABILIZE IS TO BRING SPEED DOWN TO 20-30 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY HAZARDS ON AT 30 MPH ON THE FREEWAY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

INTERMITTENT LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO ALL DASHBOARD COMPONENTS. RADIO, BLINKERS, WIPERS GO ON OR OFF ON THEIR OWN. VEHICLE IGNITION WON'T START. DIAGNOSED BY DEALERSHIP AS: TIPCM FAILURE; "COMPUTER FRIED" I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW WIRING HARNESS, HAD TO REPLACE FUSE BOX, BRAND NEW SWAY BAR CONTROL MODULE ALONG WITH A BRAND NEW TIPCM COMPUTER BOUGHT FROM DEALER. DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER REPAIR COST NOR IS COVERED BY JEEP MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.
