WHILE PARKING MY JEEP IN A PARKING GARAGE, THE FRONT BRAKE LINE SNAPPED DURING A TURN. THE BROKEN LINE OCCURRED WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE FROM THE ENGINE. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO BRAKE AND LOST ALL BRAKE FLUID. ONLY EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD WORK. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER FOR COSTLY REPAIR TO INCLUDE REPLACING FRONT BRAKE PADS BECAUSE BRAKE FLUID RUINED THEM. VERY LUCKY I WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE AND NOT ON A MAJOR ROAD DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY AND THE SPEED INDEPENDENTLY DECREASED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
AFTER LEAVING THE GYM ON MY LUNCH BREAK I TOOK (THANK GOD) THE NOT SO HEAVY TRAFFIC ROAD TO GET BACK TO WORK. MY JEEP CUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING. I HAD TO PULL OVER. AGAIN MY WIPERS START GOING AND THE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE HORN WON'T STOP BLARING SO I HAD TO OPEN THE HOOD AND TAP ON THE FUSE BOX LID. AFTER THE 5TH ATTEMPT THE CAR DECIDED TO COME ON. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE IF I AM RIGHT NEXT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THIS HAS TO STOP AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. I HAVE A CHILD AND THIS IS VERY NOT SAFE. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK COMING DOWN A BUSY STREET. AGAIN BLESSED I WAS NEAR THE DRIVEWAY OF A BUSINESS I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND PULLED OVER WAITING FOR MY JEEP TO DECIDE WHEN IT WANTED TO START AGAIN. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL? I TOOK MY JEEP SEVERAL MONTHS BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR 2 WEEKS BEFORE THEY GOT TO LOOKING AT IT AND STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SENT IT BACK HOME TO ME. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A STATE HIGHWAY, EVEN THOUGH POSTED SPEED LIMIT WAS 65MPH, TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND I WAS FORCED TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 50 TO 53 MPH. WHEN SPEEDING BACK UP TO 55 MPH MY JEEP SAHARA SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY, I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE WAS GOING TO SHAKE APART, I HIT THE BRAKES AND WENT DOWN TO 50 MPH (THANK GOD NO ONE WAS CLOSE BEHIND ME AND DID NOT HIT ME) AND THE SHAKING/WOBBLE STOPPED. AS TRAFFIC PICKED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO SPEED UP TO 60 MPH, THERE WAS NO REAL PROBLEM (A SLIGHT SHAKE AS I PAST 55 MPH), BUT AS SOON AS I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 55 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE/WOBBLE UNCONTROLLABLY AGAIN. IT APPEARS IF I ACCELERATE FROM 0 TO 55 MPH I GET THE VIOLENT SHAKING/WOBBLING BUT IF I GO FROM 0 TO 60-65 MPH, I DO NOT REALLY EXPERIENCE THE VIOLENT UNCONTROLLABLY SHAKING, JUST A SLIGHT SHAKE AT THE 55 MPH GOING TO 60-65 MPH. IF I SLOW DOWN FROM 60-65 MPH TO 55 MPH I GET THAT SAME VIOLENT UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING/WOBBLING. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY - NOT RANDOMLY! I FOUND EVEN ON NON-HIGHWAYS, WHERE SPEED LIMITS THAT ALLOW 55 MPH, I GET THE SAME VIOLENT SHAKING. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I DEPEND ON IT TO GET TO AND FROM WORK EVERY WEEKDAY. I HAVE READ THE FORUMS AND I HAVE CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE, IT HAS NO EFFECT ON THE SHAKING/WOBBLING. I HAVE NEVER TAKEN IT OFF-ROAD, I DON'T EVEN PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. MY SON HAS HIS OWN JEEP THAT HE HAS WORK ON FOR YEARS AND HE LOOKED AT MY JEEP (THINGS LIKE STEERING COMPONENTS, BALL JOINTS, TIRES, STEERING DAMPER, ETC.) ALL THE THINGS JEEP OWNERS HAVE POSTED ON THESE FORUMS AND HAVE PAID DEARLY FOR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND EVERYTHING SEEMS OK. I RECENTLY FOUND FROM A JEEP FORUM THAT THIS IS CALLED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. *TR
I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED. WHEN I REFUEL THE VEHICLE, THE PUMP STOPS, BUT THEN FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE TANK. *TR
THE GAS TANK SPITS BACK FUEL AFTER EVERY FILLING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN US RT. 60 HEADED BACK TO PHOENIX ARIZONA. DURING MY TIME TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD DOING APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH I RAN OVER TRAIN TRACKS AND IMMEDIATELY MY JEEP BEGAN SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER MY VEHICLE TO STOP VIOLENT SHAKING. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM REFERRED TO AS, " DEATH WOBBLE. "THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MONTHS. IT WAS PURCHASED AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. *JS
2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA TRAIL RATED HORN, LOCKS, WIPER FLUID WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON, CAUSING OTHER DRIVERS TO STOP OR LOOK AROUND DUE TO THE HORN GOING OFF AND THE DRIVER OF THE JEEP CANNOT SEE DUE TO THE WATER BEING SPRAYED ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD UNEXPECTEDLY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO PULL OVER AND PULL THE FUSES OR BATTERY TERMINALS ONCE YOU GET HOME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FREQUENTLY WHEN I TRY TO LOCK MY DOOR (WITH REMOTE ENTRY KEY), THE JEEP WILL HONK, BUT I NOTICE THAT 1 OR BOTH OF THE DOORS HAVE NOT LOCKED (SOMETIMES DIVER, SOMETIMES PASSENGER, SOMETIMES BOTH). AFTER MUCH EXPERIMENTATION, I CAN NOT FIND A PATTERN TO THIS. UNLOCKING AND RE-LOCKING RESOLVES THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES WHEN UNLOCKING, MY JEEP MAKES A LOUD HONK. I HAVE ALSO HAD TROUBLE STARTING MY JEEP A COUPLE TIMES. I GO TO TURN THE KEY, AND THERE IS NO CRANKING (LIGHTS DO TURN ON). AFTER REMOVING THE KEY AND TRYING AGAIN, THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I HAD ONE INSTANCE WHERE MY JEEP WAS RUNNING, AND THE RADIO SYSTEM BECAME COMPLETELY UNPOWERED (NO RADIO, NO TIME ON LCD, NOTHING). AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE, THE POWER WAS RESTORED. THIS COMBINATION OF PROBLEMS MAKES ME WORRIED THAT THIS IS RELATED TO THE TIPM, WHICH MANY OTHER WRANGLER OWNERS ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH. MY PROBLEMS ARE NOT YET ENDANGERING (ALTHOUGH DEFINITELY ANNOYING). I AM HOPING THERE IS NO PROGRESSION OF SYMPTOMS LIKE OTHER WRANGLER OWNERS HAVE. *TR
STARTED MY JEEP EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. MY AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AS NORMAL, BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF LIKE USUAL. I WAS A BIT WORRIED TO DRIVE IT AS I ASSUME THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER I CHOSE TO DRIVE ANYHOW. THE INDICATOR LIGHT WILL GO OFF BUT QUICKLY COMES BACK ON AT AROUND 20-30MPH. FOLLOWED BY A DING EACH TIME IT RETURNS BACK ON. AS IT TURNS OUT, MY MECHANIC SCANNED MY JEEP, BRINGING UP THE CODE OF A FAULTY AIRBAG, CLOCK SPRING. AS A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS CONCERNED AND CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. UNFORTUNATELY, NOTHING FOR MY VIN# IS COMING UP. SO THAT MEANS I AM ON MY OWN IN REPAIRING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO THAT MEANS I AM TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. DEALERSHIP PARTS DEPARTMENT HAS THEM IN STOCK, BUT THEY COST $270 ONLY IN PARTS. NOT INCLUDING LABOR TO INSTALL THE CLOCK SPRING. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A VERY KNOWN ISSUE IN MOST NEWER JEEP JK'S. I FOLLOW MANY FORUMS FOR MY JEEP. ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM TALK ABOUT THIS KNOWN ISSUE. YET CHRYSLER IS NOT STEPPING UP AND HANDLING THIS IN A SAFE MANNER. I AM THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THEM AND UPSET NOW I HAVE NO ACTIVE AIRBAG. TILL I SAVE ENOUGH CASH TO HAVE THIS CLOCK SPRING INSTALLED. :-( PLEASE PRAY NOTHING HAPPENS TO ME AND MY FAMILY. JEEP WRANGLER STILL ACTS UP WITH ELECTRONICS. AFTER PICKING UP SOME GROCERY AS I OPEN MY PASSENGER DOOR MY HORN, BOTH WIPERS, WASHER FLUID SPRAYING OUT, AND LIGHTS STARTED GOING HAYWIRE. EVERYTHING TURNED ON ALL AT ONCE. I JUMPED IN AND TRIED STARTING IT UP MAYBE REST WHAT EVER SHORT MY BE EXPERIENCING, I WAS ABLE TO START IT BUT CONTINUE TO GO HAYWIRE AS I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, IT CONTINUE TO RUN. I JUMPED OUT TO POP THE HOOD AND PULLED A FUSE. THE ENGINE STOPPED AND CAR STOPPED GOING HAYWIRE. I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINS BEFORE REPLACING THE FUSE. JEEP WRANGLER STILL HONKS HORN (BEEP) AND WIPERS SHIFT A LITTLE IN THE MORNING WHEN I OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR. SHOULD I BE CONCERN THAT THIS MALFUNCTION WILL CAUSE A FIRE OR POSSIBLE HARM? *TR
DRIVING UP A LONG GRADE ON THE TWO LANE ROAD JUST SIGHT SEEING. WE STOPPED TO TURN LEFT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD AND SMELLED SOMETHING. THOUGHT IT WAS JUST SOMETHING ELSE UNTIL THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE CAR. GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDER TO SEE FLAMES AND YELLED FOR MY GIRLFRIEND AND DOG TO GET OUT. MY FRIEND HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE JUST AS THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE BURST AND SPRAYED FUEL ALL OVER.. LUCKY NO ONE WAS INJURED. *TR
GEARS ENGAGING WITH DELAY AS VEHICLE GETS HOT. WHEN PUTTING THE JEEP FROM THE PARK POSITION INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE HAS A DELAY ENGAGING WHICH GETS WORSE THE WARMER OR HOTTER THE CAR GETS AND OR THE LONGER IT RUNS. THIS PROBLEM BECAME WORSE OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME/SIMILAR PROBLEM IN CERTAIN SPECIFIC BLOGS/FORUMS AND IN FEW CASES THE VEHICLE HAS ACTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE, SO NOW I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. *TR
THE GAS TANK CAN NOT BE FILLED WITHOUT CONSTANTLY RE-STARTING THE FUEL PUMP, IT STOPS EVERY FEW SECONDS, IT HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION OR ANY FUEL PUMP, SO IT IS DEFINITELY NOT THE PUMP BUT A PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP GAS TANK AND/OR IT'S COMPONENTS. IT GOT WORSE OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND MONTHS AND IS TO THE POINT NOW WHERE IT TAKES ME 10-15 MINUTES TO FILL UP 11 -15 GALLONS OF FUEL. THE GAS TANK WAS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL BACK IN 2011 (AT APPROX. 34000 MILES) WHERE WITH THE OLD TANK THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT STOP IN TIME WHEN FULL AND THEREFORE IT RESULTED IN THE "SPILL-BACK" PROBLEM EVERY TIME. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED WITH REPLACEMENT AFTER RECALL, BUT NOW I HAVE THE PROBLEM THAT I JUST HAVE THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME FILLING THE TANK. *TR
I TOOK IT TO JEEP BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING AND THEY WANTED $1000 FOR IT TO BE FIXED. NO I FIND OUT ITS HAPPENING TO ALL JEEPS. THEY STILL WON'T GO GOOD FOR IT. IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER YEAR JEEPS BY STILL NO RECALL. IT'S A DEFECT AND I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE FIXED. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL INFO ON MY JEEP.
WHILE DRIVING, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND AN AUDIBLE CHIME WENT OFF EACH TIME THE LIGHT FLASHED. THE LIGHT AND CHIME WOULD APPEAR ABOUT EVERY 5 MINUTES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON RHD VEHICLES OF THIS SAME MODEL FOR THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM FOR LHD VEHICLES WITH NO RECALL. ARE THEY ONLY RECALLING THE RHD VEHICLES BECAUSE MAJORITY OF THEM ARE DRIVEN BY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, AND THEY EXPECT EVERYONE ELSE TO PAY $600 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED? *TR
EVERY TIME I FUEL THE JEEP, IT OVERFLOWS AFTER ITS FULL AND SPILLS EVERYWHERE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE FUEL SPILLED ALL OVER MY PANTS AND SHOES AND HAND. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE OVERFILLING PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING EVERYTIME I FILL UP. *TR
I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY JEEP FOR 8 WEEKS NOW THIS CAR ONLY HAD 25,245 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN MAY 2014 AND ONLY A LITTLE OVER 37,500 MILES AND NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. I PERFORMED ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AS SUGGESTED BY THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE OIL HAD BURNT UP. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE AND EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION AND I WOULD THINK THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT CAR WENT BERSERK LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, HORN CONTINUOUS SOUNDING, WIPERS BOTH FRONT AND BACK CONTINUE TO STAY ON WHILE SHOOTING WASHER FLUID. AS TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY I EXPERIENCE LOST OF POWER AND STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES HOPING TO REST THE PROBLEM, BUT ONLY CONTINUE FOR ABOUT 30 MINS AND THEN STOP. *TR
MY JEEP WAS MISSING AND BEFORE IT CAUGHT FIRE IT STARTED LUNGING REAL BAD I STOP THE JEEP AND GOT OUT BECAUSE I HEARD CRACKLING AND I LOOKED AND SAW IT WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND IT BURNED COMPLETELY. *TR
MY JEEP COMPLETELY BURNED UP. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND THEN IT STARTED MISSING AND I STOPPED THE JEEP AND THERE WAS A FIRE UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF IT AND IT BURNED UP!
TAKATARECALL ON 10/24/2014 I TOOK MY JEEP WRANGLER TO LANDMARK DODGE TO BE WORKED ON DO TO MY JEEP AIR BAG DASH LIGHT HAVE BEEN ON FOR TWO WEEKS. I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAG STEERING RACK AND PINIONS SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACE THE COST WOULD BE $905.57 CASH I PAID.
MY 08 JEEP WRANGLER ONLY HAS 64.000 MILES ON IT AND MY SON DRIVES IT,THE HORN AND WIPERS WOULD GO OFF AT RANDOM,I AM JUST GLAD HE WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED,THAT COULD CAUSE ANYONE TO WRECK I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE TIPM WAS BAD,I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A PROBLEM PART WITH THIS MODEL,THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PART HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF! THEN WHILE THE MOTOR IS OFF THE HORN SOUNDS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHIPPING AND THE WINDSHIELD WASHER WIPER FLUIDLY STARTS FLOWING OUT. *TR
ON MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY MINUTE WITH A LOUD CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2007+ JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2007+ JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS ADMITTED THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME FAULTY CLOCKSPRING, BUT THEY CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT FOR EVERY JEEP OWNER THAT TAKES THE TIME TO WRITE A COMPLAINT, THERE MUST BE MANY MORE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WHO NEVER TOOK THE TIME TO WRITE A COMPLAINT. I AM WRITING THIS WITH THE HOPE THAT SOMEONE WILL NOTICE THE LARGE AMOUNT OF 2007+ JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE FAULTY CLOCKSPRING, AND INITIATE A RECALL THAT CAN HELP FIX THE CLOCKSPRING AND KEEP PEOPLE SAFE. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNING, YET NOW DOES IT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT, THE LIGHT STAYS OFF. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR THESE VEHICLES. THIS REFLECTS CHRYSLER'S RECALL NUMBER IS L37. *TR

I WAS DROPPING MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL AND MY CAR WENT CRAZY MY HORN WENT OFF, ALARM WENT OFF AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS BOTH FRONT AND BACK SPRAYING THE FLUID ALL OVER PEOPLE NOT ON MY WINDOWS. I TOOK MY KEYS OUT OF THE CAR AND IT CONTINUED. THE PRINCIPLE WANDERED WHY I WAS HONKING AT THE OTHER CARS AND SPRAYING THE KIDS IT NOT ONLY WAS EMBARRASSING BUT THE FLUID COULD OF EASILY GOT IN KIDS EYES. *TR
AIR BAG WARMING LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON AND FLASHES AND CHIMES WHILE BEGIN DRIVEN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY OF THESE CASES IN THE JEEP WRANGLER "JK" AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE MODEL YEAR 2007 BUT NOT FOR ANY OF THE NEWER MODEL YEARS. *TR
ON THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE STRUCK A SMALL POT HOLE, THE FRONT SUSPENSION BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY, REMOVING DRIVERS GRIP ON THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER REGAINING WHEEL GRIP, DRIVER BEGAN RAPID DECELERATION WHILE STEERING OFF TO THE SHOULDER. SHAKING SUBSIDED AROUND VEHICLE SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND THEN A COMPLETE STOP WAS ACHIEVED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO TRAFFIC WAS IMMEDIATELY PRESENT AT THE TIME. NOTHING WAS FOUND DURING INITIAL INSPECTION ON ROADSIDE AND VEHICLE DROVE PROPERLY AFTER RESUMING CAUTIOUSLY. *TR

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the air bag clockspring had failed. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V176000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V290000 (Air Bags) however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the clock spring was replaced. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the turn signal switches were no longer responding. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

DURING REFUELING, FUEL BACK FILLED FROM THE FILLER TUBE. THIS CAUSED GAS TO SPRAY OUT AND SPLASH ONTO ME, THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT START. TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION CAUSES A CLICK. ELECTRICAL IS WORKING, AS ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE ON AND BRIGHT. BY PUSHING ON THE TRANSMISSION LEVER OR MOVING IT INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK THE VEHICLE WILL THEN START. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A SPECIFIC CONDITION (HOT OR COLD) THAT MAKES THIS BETTER OR WORSE. *TR

MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X RECENTLY STARTED EXHIBITING FALSE AIRBAG WARNINGS. THE DASH LIGHT FLASHES ON INTERMITTENTLY, SOMETIMES TURNING OFF QUICKLY AND SOMETIMES STAYING ON FOR SOME TIME; WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON IT ALSO CHIMES SPORADICALLY. RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE, I FIND THAT MANY MANY MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT WAS COVERED BY A RECALL FOR 2007 WRANGLERS AND FOR 2008 WRANGLERS WITH A RIGHT-HAND DRIVE; IT SHOULD BE COVERED FOR MY VEHICLE. GETTING READY TO GO TO WORK I OPEN MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THE HORN STARTS BLOWING, WIPER FLUID SQUIRTING CONTINUOUSLY, WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONSTANTLY GOING THAT HAVE NOW SCRATCHED MY HOOD, INTERNAL LIGHTS BLINKING, RADIATOR/COOLANT FAN GOING, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON, THE HEADLIGHTS FLASHING AS THEY PLEASE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON, AND HEAT STOPS WORKING. I HAD TO GET MY BOYFRIEND TO DISCONNECT MY HORN BECAUSE AT 7 A.M. IT IS VERY EMBARRASSING TO WAKE THE NEIGHBORS! I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. NOW I CAN SOMETIMES GET IT TO STOP BY SLAPPING THE FUSE BOX COVER. AT TIMES MY CAR WON'T SHUT OFF WITH THE KEY TAKEN OUT SO I HAVE TO LET IT JUMP IN FIRST GEAR WHILE PUSHING THE BRAKE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I ALMOST REAR ENDED A CAR IN THE DAYCARE PARKING LOT AS WE ALL PARALLEL PARK TO GET TO THE FRONT DOOR. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER IT WANTS TO AND NOW THAT IT IS GETTING DARKER EARLIER I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TRANSPORTING MY CHILD WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION WHICH THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE WAY TO PICK HER UP LAST NIGHT 11/12/14. THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN IN COLDER WEATHER AND IS NOT SAFE AT ALL TO HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS WORKING AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES GOING ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO WAIT ALMOST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING IT DID NOT DO ANYTHING BUT ACT NORMAL FOR THEM. I SEE THIS BEING A COMMON ISSUE WITH WRANGLERS LATELY AND AM WAITING FOR THE ANSWER ON THE PETITION AND INVESTIGATION BEFORE I DECIDE IF THIS IS WORTH FIXING AND KEEPING. NOT SAFE AT ALL! *TR
SEPTEMBER OF 2014 LAST YEAR I NOTICED THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT COME ON. I CALLED MY LOCAL JEEP CHRYSLER DEALER AND LEFT A FEW MESSAGES ABOUT RECALLS AND IF THIS MEANT A PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAGS. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS OF WAITING THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT WENT OFF AND IT WOULD STAY OFF FOR WEEKS AND MYSTERIOUSLY COME ON PERIODICALLY. SO AFTER A FEW MONTHS GO BY IN DECEMBER OF 2014 I WAS AT A SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT WITH MY WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN WHEN WE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AMD THW HORN, LIGHTS, WIPERS AND DASH LIT UP. I QUICKLY DISCONNECTED THE NEG BATTERY AND RECONNECTED IT TWO OR THREE TIMES AND IT STOPPPED. I LOOKED ONLINE FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND DISCONMECTED THE HORN AMP VIA FUSEBOX. JUMPSTART TO FEB 2015 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE HORN BLARES AND WIPERS GO OFF BUT THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF AND I GLIDED TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE WHILE OTHER CARS AVOIDED ME. 5/27/2015 MY WIFE OPENED THE JEEP DOOR AND IT TRIGGERED THE WIPERS, DASH LIGHTS AND WIPER FLUID TO SPRAY. WHEN YOU'RE ON A FIXED INCOME BRINGING YOUR VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS IS NOT ALWAYS FEASABLE. I TOOK THE JEEP TO AUTOZONE FREE DIAGNOSTIC AND GOT A CODE U0141. AFTER READING THE SIMILAR STORIES WE'RE GOING INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, ENROUTE HOME, AND MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED JUST LOST POWER WHICH I STEERED IT ONTO THE SHOULDER. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NOR EQUIPMENT FAILURE INDICATOR WAS ON MY DASHBOARD. MY VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING HEAVILY UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I OWN TWO JEEPS, ONE A 2007 WRANGLER UNLIMITED AND THE OTHER 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO CLOCK SPRINGS IN THE 2007 WRANGLER AND RECENTLY THE SECOND REPLACED CLOCK SPRING IN THE 2008 WRANGLER WENT OUT. THIS IS A TOTAL OF 4 CLOCK SPRING FAILURES IN TWO JEEPS. I HAD RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE 2007 WRANGLER AND WAS REIMBURSED. BUT NOT THE 2008 WRANGLER. CHRYSLER DID GIVE ME A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT ON THE FIRST CLOCK SPRING THAT FAILED IN THE 2008. ON THIS SECOND ONE, THEY ARE SAYING THEY WILL OFFER ME ANOTHER REIMBURSEMENT BUT AGAIN ONLY PARTIAL. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TO CONFIRM IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING. BEING THAT I AM NOW ON MY 4TH CLOCK SPRING IN TWO JEEPS I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER CLOCK SPRING AND GO THROUGH THE PAIN OF ANOTHER REIMBURSEMENT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THERE IS A 2007 RECALL AND A 2008 RECALL FOR RIGHT SIDE DRIVING VEHICLES. BUT NOTHING FOR 2008 JEEP WRANGLER LEFT SIDE DRIVING VEHICLES. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND HAD TO FILE A COMPLAINT DUE TO THEM NOT FIXING THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR THE REPAIR IS $500+. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AIR BAG ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. *TR
