AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIME CONTINUE TO GO OFF DUE TO FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WERE UNABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE THEIR CHILD FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FLUID OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY, THE HORN SOUNDED, THE ENGINE FAN OPERATED, AND ALL FOUR DOORS LOCKED CONTINUOUSLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THIS HAPPENED ON 76TH ST NORTH, BETWEEN WHIRLPOOL DR AND LAKEWOOD AVE. OWASSO, OK. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, AT T 5:45 AM, I SMELLED SMOKE, LOOKED OUT MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND SAW A ORANGE GLOW. I OPENED THE DOOR AND SAW FLAMES COMING OUT FROM THE ENGINE. I STOPPED, GOT OUT AND CALLED 911. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE HORN ALSO DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE HORN FIXED, AND WAS INFORMED IT WAS A BAD CLOCK-SPRING. CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE RH 2008 WRANGLERS AND ALL 2007 WRANGLERS, BUT THE WARRANTY FOR THE LH 2008 WRANGLERS, LIKE MINE, HAS NOT BEEN EXTENDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE HORN DOES NOT WORK, AND I AM UNSURE IF MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY, IF NEEDED. THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE AS THERE ARE A FLOOD OF COMPLAINTS. IT IS TIME FOR THE NHTSA TO STEP IN AND GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY $500.00 TO HAVE THE CLOCK-SPRING FIXED WHEN IT IS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE ACROSS THE LINE IN THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WHICH IS WHAT WAS THE INITIAL ISSUE WHICH HAD ME TAKE THE JEEP INTO THE SHOP. OVER THIS PAST YEAR, THE JEEP WOULD JUST START SHAKING VIOLENTLY AT ABOUT 55 MPH EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. THIS LAST TIME, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE JEEP AND TRIED AGAIN, ONLY TO HAVE IT START SHAKING VIOLENTLY AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT NEEDS ADDRESSED. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AS THERE WERE VEHICLES ON THE FREEWAY ALL AROUND ME. I COULD BARELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO PULL IT OFF THE ROAD. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER, THE CALIPERS, AND THE ROTORS TO ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. INTERESTINGLY, WHEN I WALKED IN TO TALK TO THEM, THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS AS THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT NEEDED REPAIRS FOR THE SAME VEHICLE AND PROBLEM FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS. THIS WAS A $350.00 REPAIR. I POINT THIS SECOND ISSUE OUT SO OTHER JEEP OWNERS WILL KNOW WHAT TO HAVE REPAIRED IF CHRYSLER DOES NOTHING. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND CHIME IS GOING OFF. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU ARE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. AFTER WAITING A WEEK FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY CLOSEST DEALER AND MORE THAN A HOUR FOR THEM TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THEM PROBLEM. THEY TELL ME IT IS NOT THE AIRBAG BUT THE CLOCK SPRING AND THAT I OWE THEM $75 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I ASK THEM IF IT IS COVERED AND THEY TELL ME THE PART COSTS APPROXIMATELY $300 OR MORE. I CHECKED THE COMPUTER IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THIS VEHICLE BUT CHRYSLER JEEP REFUSES TO ADDRESS IT. THERE IS A RECALL FOR IT BUT ONLY IN RIGHT HAND DRIVEN VEHICLES. BEING THAT I AM A MOTHER OF 4 I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE WITH THIS LIGHT ON BUT I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I REALLY DON'T KNOWN WHAT TO DO. *TR
THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON MY 2008 LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEP IS DEFECTIVE. I EXPERIENCE AN INTERMITTENT CHECK AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT. THE DEFECTIVE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY COULD RESULT IN BROKEN AIRBAG CIRCUITS. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, A BROKEN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IN THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING WIRING ASSEMBLY CAN LEAD TO NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER. CHRYSLER RECALLED 2008 RIGHT HAND DRIVE JEEPS FOR THE SAME REASON. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A RECALL WAS DONE FOR RIGHT-HAND DRIVE VEHICLES AND NOT LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES. IT IS THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL TANK FAILED TO STOP WHEN AT THE FULL LEVEL. AS A RESULT, FUEL SPILLED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER RHD CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS TURNING ONTO THE HWY AND DROVE A FEW FEET AND NOTICED SMOKE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD,SHUT THE CAR OFF AND POPPED THE HOOD. AS SOON AS I LIFTED THE HOOD I SAW FLAMES!! I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY'RE "SUPPOSED TO BE DOING AN INVESTIGATION". THERE WASN'T ANY KIND OF WARNING THE CAR WASN'T EVEN RUNNING ANY DIFFERENTLY. SCARY STUFF ESPECIALLY FROM A VEHICLE THAT WASN'T GIVING ME ANY PROBLEMS. DRIVING DOWN THE 101 FREEWAY IN LOS ANGELES EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" HAD IT SERVICE ON 06/24/14, ALIGNMENT DOWN, BLOWN STEERING STABILIZER REPLACED, TIRES BALANCED, AND STILL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IN APRIL OF 2014 I EXPERIENCE THE SAME OCCURANCE ELEVEN TIMES DRIVING 40MPH ON SOUTH VICTORIA BLVD IN VENTURA CALIFORNIA. MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR. HAD IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY THE NEXT DAY. NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIX THE ISSUE THIS DEATH WOBBLE HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN JANUARY OF 2011. CAN YOU HELP? *JS
DRIVING HOME AFTER WORK AT NIGHT ON THE INTERSTATE,APPROX. 75MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WASHER AND WIPERS COME ON AND THE HORN STARTS BLOWING CONTINUOUSLY AND WONT STOP, I PULLED OFF ON THE CLOSEST FREEWAY EXIT AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE,BUT EVEN WITH REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH IT CONTINUED TO RUN WITH THE WASHERS,WIPERS AND HORN GOING....AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH ON AND OFF THE MOTOR FINALLY STOPPED RUNNING BUT THE WASHERS,WIPERS AND HORN CONTINUED UNTIL I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY...AFTER RECONNECTING THE BATTERY EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND FUNCTIONED NORMALLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT RECENTLY HAS STARTED ACTING LIKE ITS POSSESSED AGAIN...TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER(CHAPMEN DODGE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUE EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TIPM ,AND FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER,THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE IT FOR $1000 BUT IT MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM..... *TR
I HAD TO GET A COILSPRING REPLACED WHICH WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSING THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE ISSUE WAS RECALLED FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVEN JEEPS. ALL JEEPS SHOULD BE RECALLED THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE AND JEEP SHOULD MAKE THE REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE: 1. "DEATH WOBBLE" VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHAKES VIOLENTLY OVER 45 MPH. STOP VEHICLE AND STARTS RUNNING FINE. 2. SUSPECT BAD TIPM. INTERMITTENT HORN AND WIPERS TURN ON AFTER OPENING DRIVER DOOR. NEXT, CAR SOMETIMES WILL NOT START. TAPPING THE TIPM WILL ALLOW IT TO START. NEXT WITH IGNITION OFF AND KEY OUT, ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN UNTIL TAPPING THE MODULE. FINALLY, NOW THE ENGINE WILL JUST STOP INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. FOUND THAT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE COMMON PROBLEMS WITH JEEPS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS JEEP, IT INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT START--TYPICALLY IN WARM WEATHER. WE REPLACED THE GROUND ON THE BATTERY, PURCHASED NEW BATTERY, STARTER, NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH AND ALL TRANSMISSION SENSORS. STILL, IT WILL NOT START IN WARM WEATHER. WE LITERALLY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE COOLS, THEN THE JEEP WILL START. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON-LINE AND FOUND MANY CONSUMER REFERENCES TO THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE--COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS "THE JEEP FLU." MANY REPORT EITHER THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH OR THE TIPM IS THE ISSUE. MANY REFERENCES COMPLAIN THAT CHRYSLER IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM--TIPMS ON BACK ORDER--BUT THEY ARE SILENT. THIS JEEP HAS STRANDED US MANY TIMES--WHICH CAN ALSO CAUSE SIGNIFICANT HARM FOR CONSUMERS. CHRYSLER SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM AND PROVIDE A FIX! *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON AND HAS STAYED ON. SINCE THIS HAPPENED THE CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKS. FROM WHAT I'VE REVIEWED THIS IS A BAD CLOCK SPRING.
MY JEEP IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT GO BACK IN THE LOCK POSITION TO ALLOW YOU TOO PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION HOWEVER YOU CAN PULL THE KEY STRAIGHT OUT.I HAVE A BRAND NEW NEVER USED KEY AND THE IGNITION WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO SLIDE ALL THE WAY IN THE JEEP STILL STARTS AND SHUTS OFF HOWEVER YOU HAVE TOO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY OR IT WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY DOWN. ALSO NOW YOU CAN NOT LOCK THE VEHICLE. *TR
DRIVER DOOR MIRROR FELL COMPLETELY OFF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN HIGHWAY. ACTUAL ARM BAR OXIDIZED AND DROPPED OFF THE VEHICLE, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR OTHERS AROUND THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS TO ME AS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER BETWEEN LANES WHICH CREATED A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. ARM BAR MUST BE DEFECTIVE SINCE IT FELL OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. *TR
GAS POURS OUT OF FILLER/NECK , GAS TANK WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE UP. HAVE TRIED HOLDING NOZZLE AT DIFFERENT ANGLES, FILLING IT SLOWER ETC HOWEVER THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. *TR
I BOUGHT THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER IN SEPTEMBER 2007. I FOLLOW THE SERVICE MANUAL AND TAKE MY JEEP FOR EVERY SCHEDULED SERVICE AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. MY JEEP STARTED FAILING TO START IN 2010. I REPORTED THE ISSUE AT MY 36,000 MILE SERVICE ON 23 NOVEMBER 2010 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE ON SEVERAL SERVICES BUT WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT ISOLATE THE ISSUE. FINALLY WHEN I TAKE THE JEEP IN FOR THE 72,000 MILE SERVICE THE FAULT WAS IDENTIFIED AND IS CURRENTLY UNDER REPAIR. IF THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM BY JEEP. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON MORE THAT ONE OCCASION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND FOR FOUR YEARS WITH A TIPM THAT COULD HAVE FAILED CAUSING INJURY TO ME OR MY FAMILY. I AM VERY UPSET THAT JEEP HAS KNOWN ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND I WAS NOT INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THIS TIPM WHEN I REPORTED THE JEEP WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I HAD TO STUMBLE ACROSS A WEB SITE REPORTING THIS ISSUE WITH THE TIPM, THIS IS HOW I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT JEEP HAS FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *TR
ON THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING." *TR
CLOCKSPRING WENT OUT OF NO WHERE. HAD ISSUES WITH TURN SIGNALS SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT 2 1/2 YEARS AGO. DEALER COST $470. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES RANDOMLY. THE INSIDE OF THE JEEP HAS NEVER BEEN WET OR THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. CLOCKSPRING IS BAD IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN JEEP WRANGLER ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A COVERED RECALL DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES CREATED BY A NON-FUNCTIONING AIRBAG. THE REPAIR COSTS EXCEED $500 AT THE DEALER. LOOK UP JK AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUES ON LINE FOR PAGES OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY HAS COME ON SINCE 6/18/2014. WHAT STARTED HAS INTERMITTENT WARNINGS HAS TURNED INTO A SOLID WARNING LIGHT. AFTER EXAMINATION BY THE JEEP DEALER THE PROGNOSIS IS THAT IT IS THE CLOCK SPRING. TO MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS THE SAME CLOCK SPRING THAT IS PRESENT IN 2007 AND EARLIER MODELS, WHICH WERE RECALLED DUE TO FAULTY CLOCK SPRINGS. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND ONLINE FORUMS THE FAILURE OF THIS SAFETY COMPONENT IS QUITE COMMON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V176000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,002.
PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE OTHER DAY AND A RED AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH INDICATING SOME SORT OF AIRBAG FAULT, ALSO CRUISE CONTROL AND HORN STOPPED WORKING. FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THE CLOCK SPRINGS ARE A COMMON FAILURE AMONG JEEP WRANGLERS THUS MAKING THE AIRBAGS NON OPERATIONAL UNTIL REPAIR IS MADE. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I PUT THE JEEP IN REVERSE; THE HORN BLEW UNTIL IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF REVERSE. THE WIPERS CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR THE WHOLE TRIP INTO WORK (1 HOUR) THE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR ALSO RAN. ENGINE LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE THAT TIME THERE ARE INTERMITTENT OCCURRENCES OF DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN. WIPERS AND WASHER TURN ON BY THEMSELVES, HEADLIGHTS BOTH WENT OUT IN JULY HORN WOULDN'T SHUT OFF, THEN THE DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK AND WHEN THEY DID THE WIPERS TURNED ON. EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS THE JEEP WOULD LOSE POWER AND STALL. I HAVE ASKED SEVERAL ASE CERTIFIED MECHANICS THEIR OPINION AND ALL SAY THE SAME...TCIM

IN MAY 2014 I PURCHASES A USED JEEP FROM A DEALER IN KERNERSVILLE, NC AND EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS ARE MANUFACTURE ISSUES: -LIGHTING: WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TAILLIGHT BULBS ON BOTH SIDES TWICE SINCE PURCHASE (LESS THAN A YEAR AGO). THESE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY HOLD WATER AND WE HAVE TO EMPTY THEM REPEATEDLY AND THE WATER NEVER SEEMS TO EMPTY COMPLETELY. WE TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS UNDER OUR PURCHASED WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP STATES THERE IS WATER DAMAGE DUE TO INSUFFICIENT WIRE PROTECTION. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AS WATER IS AN EXCELLENT CONDUCTOR OF ELECTRICITY. REGARDLESS OF THE USED CONDITION OF THE CAR I SEE NO REASON WHY THIS SHOULD BE THE CASE AS WIRING SEEMS VERY MUCH LIKE A MANUFACTURE ONLY RESPONSIBILITY. -WHEELS: THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH ALL ORIGINAL WHEELS (NOT TIRES) AND THE VALVE STEMS ON EACH WHEEL HAVE DISINTEGRATED COMPLETELY AND CRUMBLED APART. WE REALIZED THIS WHEN THE LOW AIR LIGHT CAME ON AND WE WENT TO FILL THE TIRES THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO EFFECT HOW WELL THE TIRES CAN HOLD AIR. -SPEEDOMETER: ORIGINALLY WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS OFF BY ABOUT 10MPH (WE DID NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL DRIVING TWO SEPARATE CARS AND THINKING "HMM IS THE OTHER DRIVER REALLY SPEEDING THAT MUCH?" CALL ONE ANOTHER ON THE PHONE AND DETERMINED THE SUBARU WOULD DRIVE 60MPH AND SEE WHAT SPEED THE JEEP CLAIMED TO BE DRIVING WHEN MATCHED. WE HAD THIS ISSUE "FIXED" ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND NOW IT IS EVEN WORSE. UPON DOING THE SAME SPEED TEST THE JEEP WAS NOW 12MPH OVER WHAT IT SHOULD BE. ON MAY 29TH OF 2014 I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER DOWN A 4 LANE CITY STREET AT ABOUT 3000 RPM. I HAD JUST TAKEN OFF FROM A RED LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION THAT RESULTED IN A FIRE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE GAS TANK EXPLODED AND THE FIRE COVERED THE BOTTOM OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THERE WAS DAMAGE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE FIREWALL ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE FUEL LINES. LUCKILY THERE WAS A QUICK RESPONSE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, BUT MY JEEP HAS BEEN RENDERED UN-DRIVABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOT ASSISTANCE THERE. THE CHRYSLER INVESTIGATION TEAM WOULD NOT EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT THE FUEL LINES THE MARSHAL DETERMINED STARTED THE FIRE. I WILL NEVER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE PRODUCED BY CHRYSLER EVER AGAIN. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY TO ME, BUT ONLY BECAUSE I HAD ALL THE DOORS AND TOP OFF WHICH ENABLED A RAPID ESCAPE. I JUST TURNED MY CAR ON THAT MORNING AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO PEP BOYS AND THEY LOOKED UP ANY RECALLS FOR MY AIR BAGS. THEY FOUND A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG CLOCKSPRING. I THEN TOOK MY WRANGLER TO THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE RECALL AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST SO IT WASN'T CONSIDERED AFFECTED. SO I PAID THEM TO DO A DIAGNOSTICS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CLOCKSPRING AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DESPITE IT BEING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OTHER WRANGLERS WERE RECALLED FOR, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULDN'T COVER THE REPAIRS AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $600 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO REPLACE IT. MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 65,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY 2008 AND LATER WRANGLERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. I BELIEVE THAT EMERGENCY RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ARE COVERED UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF YEARS OF DATE OF MANUFACTURE. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ON A FLAT PAVED ROAD WHEN THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY! I PULLED TO THE CENTER LANE AND STOPPED. ONCE I WAS CALMED DOWN, I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. LEAVING WORK, ABOUT 1 MILE AWAY ON A FLAT STRAIGHT ROAD DOING ABOUT 45-50 MPH THE FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND AROUND 45 MPH I COULD FEEL IT START AGAIN, LET MY FOOT OF THE GAS AND AS IT SLOWED DOWN IT STOPPED. COULD NOT DO MORE THAN 40 MPH FOR THE RIDE HOME FROM WORK. CALLED DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE GOING TO LOOK AT IT ON 5/5/14.
