ON MY2008JEEPWRANGLER(LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY2008 JEEP WRANGLER(LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE2008 JEEP WRANGLER(LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING." TODAY I THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING AND IT COST ME $550 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. *TR
UPON EXITING THE PARKING LOT OF MY EMPLOYER, THE AIRBAG SIGNAL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SOUNDED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A NEARBY PARKING SPOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF IN HOPES OF RESETTING THE ALARM. THIS DID NOT WORK AND THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED EVER SINCE. AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I CAME ACROSS FORUMS FOR THE CLOCK SPRING FAILURE, HOWEVER, MY HORN AND TURN SIGNALS WORK PROPERLY AND THE AIRBAG FUSES ARE STILL FUNCTIONAL. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC, HOWEVER, NO CODES WERE GIVEN AND HE SAID "WELL, WE SHOULD START WITH THE CLOCK SPRING AND SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM." I CALLED CHRYSLER/JEEP IN HOPES OF ATTAINING SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. TO MY DISMAY, THE WOMAN ON THE OTHER LINE INFORMED MY THAT I WAS OVER MY WARRANTY MILEAGE AND "NOTHING CAN REALLY BE DONE." I TRULY DON'T MIND THE LIGHT OR EVEN THE SPORADIC (EVERY 2 OR 3 MINUTE) DING THE LIGHT MAKES. WHAT I DO MIND IS THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE, WITH DOORS AND A ROOF MAINLY TO PROTECT AGAINST THE ELEMENTS, HAS NON-FUNCTIONING AIRBAGS THAT CHRYSLER DOESN'T SEEM TO DESIRE TO REMEDY.
I FIRST NOTICED PRIOR TO MAY 2014 THAT MY CRUISE CONTROL HAD QUIT WORKING BUT JUST FIGURED THE CONTROL HAD GONE OUT. THEN ABOUT MAY 2014 THE AIRBAG, STABILITY CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND HAVE BEEN ON SINCE THEN. THE JEEP DOES STILL CHIME NOTIFYING ME OF THE ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I'VE COME TO CONCLUSION ITS THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED/WARRANTY EXTENDED ON SEVERAL MODEL YEAR WRANGLERS. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING UNDERSTANDING WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN EXTENDED TO ADDITIONAL MODEL YEARS. IS JEEP WAITING ON XX NUMBER DEATHS AND INJURIES TO OCCUR DUE TO A FAULTY PART RELATED VEHICLE SAFETY? *TR
WHEN FILLING THE JEEP UP FOR THE 1ST TIME SINCE BUYING IT FUEL WAS SPIT BACK OUT WHEN IT WAS FULL. *TR
STARTED JEEP UP AND PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY. STARTED TO DRIVE DOWN ST. WHEN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW ONLY GOES OUT WHEN I MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, BUT COMES BACK ON AS SOON AS STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHTENS OUT. *TR
DRIVING ALONG ON ROAD AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING AND GOING OFF EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES AND CHIMING EACH TIME.
MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND DINGS CONSTANTLY AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. *JS
AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING CORNERS. CHIME SOUNDS AND HORN DOES NOT WORK. *JS
THE CLOCKSPRING ON MY 2008 LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEP HAS BROKEN CAUSING MY AIRBAGS TO NO LONGER FUNCTION. I HAVE A VALID CHRYSLER WARRANTY UNTIL 85,000 MILES. MY JEEP IS CURRENTLY BEING SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE BROKEN CLOCKSPRING WHICH WILL COST $563. THIS PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY CHRYSLER WARRANTY WHICH MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. MY WARRANTY COVERS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BUT THE CLOCK SPRING FALLS UNDER "SAFETY" COMPONENTS WHICH ARE NOT COVERED. HOW SAFETY COMPONENTS ARE NOT COVERED IS WAY BEYOND ME! THERE WAS A RECALL IN THE 2007 JEEP WRANGLER CLOCKSPRING AND THE ISSUES OBVIOUSLY SPREAD TO 2008 AS WELL. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $563 SO I AM PUTTING IT ON MY CREDIT CARD SO I CAN DRIVE A SAFE JEEP. THE FACT THAT JEEP IS MAKING CONSUMERS PAY (SUBSTANTIALLY) FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR AND THUS THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
HORN DOESN'T WORK, I ALSO GET AN UNKNOWN DING WARNING SOUND IN THE DASH, I AM AFRAID MY AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK AS WELL. THE CLOCKSPRING MUST BE BROKEN. *TR
IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER :PE11019 DATE :APRIL 15, 2014 AT 01:39 PM CHRYSLER INFORMED ODI THAT IT INTENDS TO INITIATE A CONSUMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN FOR MY2007 LHD WRANGLER WHICH WILL EXTEND THE CS WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. ACCORDINGLY THE INVESTIGATION WAS CLOSED. THE AIR BAG WARNING IN MY JEEP KEEP WAS COMING ON AND OFF; I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR COST OVER $750; THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT DESPITE CHRYSLER REPRESENTING TO THE NHTSA THAT IT WOULD EXTEND THE CS WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES (AND SECURING CLOSURE OF THE INVESTIGATION), CHRYSLER WAS NOT PROVIDING THE WARRANTY COVERAGE IT PROMISED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE/INQUIRE WHY CHRYSLER IS NOT DOING SO! THANK YOU. *TT
AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE IN AND WAS TOLD IT IS THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON RIGHT SIDE DRIVER INSTALLS, WHICH MINE IS NOT. HOWEVER, THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS THAT LEFT SIDE DRIVER INSTALL IS DEFECTIVE AS WELL. CHRYSLER HAS GIVEN ASSISTANCE TO SOME CUSTOMERS IN REPLACING THE PART THAT WERE NOT UNDER THE RECALL, BUT REFUSED TO ASSIST ME. IT IS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT AND I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE PART ON ALL JEEP WRANGLERS, ESPECIALLY ADMITTEDLY KNOWING THE PROBLEM AND ASSISTING SOME PEOPLE WITH PART REPLACEMENT BUT NOT OTHERS. *TT
AIRBAG LIGHT ON 4-DOOR 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS NOT WET OR DRIVEN IN A DUSTY ENVIRONMENT. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING BUT IT IS NOT COVERED ON ANY WARRANTIES AND ALL JEEP RECALLS ARE ONLY FOR PREVIOUS YEAR OR A RIGHT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES. *TR
2008 JEEP WRANGLER, DRIVING WHEN HIT A BUMP, FRONT END BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. WITH A DOZEN OR SO VEHICLES BEHIND ME, AT 55 MPH HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID A PILE UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US ON 2 DIFFERENT JEEPS, A 98 WRANGLER AND THIS 08. THIS 08 HAS ALMOST MEW TIRES AND THE FRONT END IS STILL TIGHT. THIS IS THE MOST RECENT OF SEVERAL TIMES THE JEEP HAS BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY IN THE LAST YEAR. *TR

WHILE PARKED IN A MALL PARKING GARAGE, VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL. ACCORDING TO A POLICEMAN, A WITNESS SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD 15-20 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED. VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL. SMOKE AND HEAT DAMAGE TO FRONT INTERIOR OF VEHICLE INCLUDING MELTED CARPET NEAR TRANSMISSION IN AREA OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *JS
AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIME BEGUN TO ALERT SUDDENLY. THE CONDITION HAS CONTINUED WITH LIGHT AND CHIME ACTIVATING INTERMITTENTLY BUT WITH A CONSTANT SHORT INTERVAL ACTIVATION. *TR
WHEN THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED TO ON, THE STARTER ONLY GAVE A CLICK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED. THE DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NOTHING. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND SEVERE TO THE POINT IT WOULDN'T START AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED WITH NO RESULTS, PROBLEM CONTINUED. FROM ONLINE FORUMS ON JEEP I FOUND THIS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND TRY. IF IT STARTS, THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. PUTTING IT NEUTRAL WHEN THIS OCCURS, HAS STARTED THE ENGINE THE FIRST TRY DOZENS OF TIMES FOR ME. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER, GAVE THEM THIS INFORMATION WHICH THEY IGNORED. THEY REPLACED A SOLENOID CABLE INSTEAD. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS WHILE I RENTED A VEHICLE. NOTHING WAS FOUND OR FIXED IN THEIR DIAGNOSTIC WHEN I PICKED IT UP. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES, IT DID IT TODAY TWICE 6/25/2014, BUT STILL STARTS IN NEUTRAL FOR NOW. THE SUGGESTED TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR WOULD BE COVERED IN MY LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I BELIEVE JEEP KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT CHOOSES TO IGNORE IT. THIS SEEMS TO EFFECT WRANGLER MODELS FROM 2007- 2012 YEARS. IT IS SO WIDESPREAD IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. STARTING IN NEUTRAL IS NOT A FIX. *TR
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. I CONTACTED JEEP AND FOUND THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY MY BASIC WARRANTY ANY LONGER. SO I WENT ON LINE TO SEE IF I COULD FIX IT MYSELF. I DISCOVERED THAT THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. BY READING JEEP FORUMS I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2008 JEEP AND IN FACT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS REQUIRED OF JEEP IN THE RIGHT HAND DRIVE VERSIONS OF THE VEHICLE. THE APPARENT JUSTIFICATION TO EXCLUDE THE LEFT HAD DRIVE VEHICLES IS THAT MAIL CARRIERS USING THE RIGHT HAND VERSION USE THE JEEP WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN ALLOWING DIRT TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. I REMIND YOU THAT THE JEEP IS MARKED TO FOLKS WHO WILL MOST LIKELY DRIVE THE THING OFF ROAD MEANING GRAVEL OR DIRT ROADS. WHERE I LIVE IN A DESERT REGION OF WYOMING THE DIRT ROADS ARE USUALLY COVERED IN FLOUR LIKE DUST SO DIRT GETS EVERYWHERE. I SUSPECT THE REAL REASON FOR ALLOWING CHRYSLER OFF THE HOOK IS THE COST INVOLVED TO WARRANTY THE REST OF THE VEHICLES. IF THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS A DESIGN DEFECT THEN ALL OF THOSE VEHICLES WHO ACTUALLY HAVE THE PROBLEM NEED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES DON?T HAVE THE PROBLEM THEN PEOPLE WON?T BE ASKING FOR REPAIR. IT COST AROUND $500 FOR THIS REPAIR WHICH MANY PEOPLE MAY NEGLECT CAUSING THEIR DEATH. WHY ARE MAIL CARRIER LIVES MORE VALUABLE THAN THE REST OF US? PLEASE RECONSIDER THE DECISION TO DISREGARD THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE MAJORITY OF JEEP OWNERS WHO HAVE LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES AT LEAST IN THIS COUNTRY. I SUSPECT THE DEFECTIVE PART IS DEFECTIVE NO MATTER WHAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IT IS INSTALLED ON. *TR
THIS MORNING, MARCH 7, 2014, ON THE WAY TO WORK ON A VERY BUSY ROAD, MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE SO BAD, I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR RISK HITTING SOMEONE. I CALMED DOWN, AND RETURNED TO DRIVING AND IT STARTED AGAIN! IT WAS THE "DEATH WOBBLE" THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED BEFORE BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN A ROW IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. I HAVE CHANGED TIRES, HAD 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS LOOK AT MY JEEP AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG!! PLEASE HELP! *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ON THE WRANGLER SINCE RECALL WAS DONE ON 2007 JEEP WRANGLER AND 2008 RHD JEEP WRANGLER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WHEN I EXITED FROM THE HIGHWAY, MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. IT PROCEEDED TO COME ON AND GO OFF OVER THE NEXT 15 MIN ON THE REST OF MY DRIVE HOME. THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING, WHICH LEADS TO A FAULTY AIRBAG. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED 10 YEAR/150,000 MILE WARRANTY THAT COVERS THE 2007 LHD AND 2008 RHD JEEP WRANGLERS. WHETHER THE STEERING IS ON THE RIGHT OR LEFT SIDE OF A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVER SAFETY. *TR
I HAVE AN 08 WRANGLER AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON BUT BECAUSE IT LHD IT'S NOT COVERED.THEY SAY THE PROBLEM IS MAIL CARRIERS RIDE DUSTY ROADS AND HAVE THE WINDOW UP AND DOWN A LOT .WELL I TAKE MY TOP OFF AND RIDE DUSTY ROADS ALL SUMMER LONG ,SAME THING. IM SURE THE SAME PARTS ARE USED SO WHY AREN'T BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT HAND BEING RECALLED.THIS IS UNFAIR THAT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I MUST PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. COMMONLY CALLED "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE". DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE SLIGHTLY, THEN BECAME WORSE. WITHIN ABOUT 5 SECONDS MY WHEEL WAS SHAKING SO BADLY THAT I COULDN'T HOLD THE WHEEL. I DID ALL I COULD TO SLOW AND PULL THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER. I FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND WENT BACK ON MY WAY WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS A STOCK JEEP WITH THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING NEWER TIRES (STOCK SIZE) THAT ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO TO FILL UP MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA GAS SPILLS DOWN THE SIDE AND ONTO THE GROUND. WHEN THE PUMP CLICKS OFF IT IS ALREADY OVER-FILLED AND SPILLS EVERYWHERE! I'VE TRIED HOLDING IT AT DIFFERENT ANGLES AND PUSHING IT FARTHER IN BUT NOTHING WORKS EXCEPT NOT FILLING UP MY VEHICLE ENTIRELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE RISK AND NOT TO MENTION THE WAY THE FUEL IS RUINING THE PAINT AND DISCOLORING MY BUMPER! *TR
I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X WITH 42,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BABIED EXCEPT FOR ONE OFF-ROAD WEEKEND LAST FALL. THE DEATH WOBBLE JUST STARTED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN APPLYING BRAKES OVER 55 MPH. MOSTLY FRONT-END WOBBLE. IT HAPPENED SPORADICALLY AND ONLY AT SPEEDS AROUND 60 MPH. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE ROTORS. JUST A FEW DAYS LATER, THE WOBBLE RETURNED, BUT MUCH WORSE, AND WITH NO BRAKING APPLIED. THE WHOLE CAR VIOLENTLY SHOOK. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY MECHANIC. HE DID SOME RESEARCH AND EVENTUALLY INSTALLED A NEW STEERING DAMPER, A BIGGER ONE THAN THE ORIGINAL PART. I AM HOPEFUL THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED. IN RESEARCHING THIS MATTER AND REVIEWING THE VARIOUS BLOGS, INCLUDING THIS SITE, I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER JEEP IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHILE THERE HAS BEEN NO REPORTS OF DEATH, THAT IS JUST FORTUITOUS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY OPERATORS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MODEL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH OR GREATER AND HITTING A POTHOLE, SMALL BUMP, OR WHEN CROSSING A BRIDGE, THE WRANGLER SUDDENLY SHAKES VIOLENTLY. IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER, AND MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER TO STOP THE SHAKING. THIS OCCURRED MORE THAN 20 TIMES IN A 4 HOUR PERIOD. ONE INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER IN BUSY CITY TRAFFIC WITH A VERY SMALL BERM. I CONTINUED MY DRIVE AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH OR LESS, WHICH REDUCED THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS, BUT IT STILL HAPPENED. I WAS FEARFUL TO MOVE QUICKLY, BE IN FRONT OF OTHER CARS OR HIT POTHOLES, SO DRIVING WAS STRESSFUL AND SLOW. I MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE REGULARLY, AND HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, BUT TODAY WAS SO OFTEN, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I LOVE MY JEEP, BUT AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOW CONSIDERING PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON A SATURDAY EVENING ACCELERATING UP TO 55 MPH ONCE THE VEHICLE HIT 48-50 MPH THE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE/VIBRATE VIOLENTLY SLOWING DOWN DID NOT STOP THE VIBRATIONS I NEEDED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ABOVE REPEATED 3-4 TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF THE TRIP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER AND ROTATED THE TIRES. I HAVE DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 1,000 MILES SINCE THAT SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND AM NOW EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AGAIN, I AM ALREADY OUT $1,200 FOR THE INITIAL REPAIR ATTEMPT. THE STEERING DAMPER REPLACEMENT APPEARS TO HAVE ONLY MASKED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME AND IS NOT A FIX BUT A PATCH JOB WHICH IS LIKELY RESULTING IN FURTHER DAMAGE TO OTHER PORTIONS OF THE STEERING/SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THIS BOTH IN YOUR SYSTEM AND THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET SOMETHING IS CLEARLY WRONG WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL DURING THE SHAKING IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED AND IT SEEMS LIKE THAT IS WHAT ALL THE REGULATORS ARE WAITING FOR BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFECT CONTINUED UNTIL THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 50-20 MPH ON SMOOTH OR ROUGH PAVEMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A CHIME. NOW THE LIGHT AND CHIME HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS ISSUE ON MY JEEP. THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT TO A DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE CLOCKSPRING AT A COST OF OVER $400.00. THIS PART IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. MEANWHILE, THE RHD AND 2007 WRANGLERS HAVE HAD A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS ISSUE. WELL, I LIVE IN A DUSTY PART OF THE COUNTRY AND IN THE SUMMER DRIVE WITH THE WINDOW DOWN A LOT, JUST AS THE MAIL CARRIERS WITH THE RHD JEEPS DO. I ACTUALLY PURCHASED MY JEEP IN NOVEMBER OF 2007. IT IS A 2008 MY BUT WAS MADE IN 2007, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THOSE 2007 LHD JEEPS THAT RECEIVED THE RECALL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS RECALL WAS NOT EXPANDED TO COVER ALL WRANGLERS THAT IT AFFECTS. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY WHEN THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT. THEY COULD NOT DEPLOY WHEN NECESSARY AND/OR DEPLOY WHEN NOT NECESSARY. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON SO I PULLED OVER. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A ONE TIME THING BUT I TRAVELED OVER 1000 MILES WITH IT DINGING EVERY LITTLE WHILE. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION THE LIGHT WAS STILL COMING ON AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SPRING AND WOULD COST 400.00 TO 500.00 TO FIX. I FEEL THAT IT IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BUT NOT ONLY THAT I ALSO HAD TO GET THE BALL JOINTS REPLACED, BOTH UPPER AND LOWER WHICH COST OVER 1000.00. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT JEEP DOES NOT PUT GREASE FITTINGS ON THEM SO THAT THEY EVENTUALLY GO OUT. THIS COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE RESOLVED BY THE COMPANY BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT OR WORSE KILLED. I LOVE MY JEEP BUT ALL THESE ISSUES ARE REALLY DISTURBING. INDICATOR LIGHT WENT OFF SEVERAL DAYS LATER. MY ENGINE IS NOW EXHIBITING WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A STUCK LIFTER AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE WARRANTY ON THE LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I ALSO HAD A STEERING DAMPENER FAIL ON THE VEHICLE AT 32K MILES WHICH CHRYSLER MADE ME PAY HALF FOR FIXING. *TR
