WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A COUNTY ROAD AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S GAUGES TURNED OFF AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND WOULD NOT RESTART, LOCK, OR UNLOCK DOORS. ALL FUSES AND THE BATTERY WERE GOOD. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT WAS A FAILED TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) AND QUOTED $1300 TO REPLACE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
ENGINE TICKING
CHECK ENGINE ILLUMINATED IN MID-2017, BUT NO CODES WERE PRESENT AND JEEP APPEARED TO RUN FINE. IN SEPT 2017, WHILE DRIVING ON I-75, THE JEEP SHUDDERED AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE LIGHTS HAD TURNED OFF. THEY ENDED UP SWAPPING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS AND TWO IGNITION COILS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON A FEW DAYS LATER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CODES FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SYSTEM 1 AND 2. IN OCT 2017, THE VEHICLE JUMPED/SHUDDERED AND STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND LEAVE IT SIT FOR 10 MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES AND BASED OFF OF MY DESCRIPTION OF THE ISSUES, REPLACED THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY AND CLEARED THE CODES. THEY SAID IF THE ISSUE CAME BACK TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE ISSUE CAME BACK WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF LEAVING THE AUTOMOTIVE GARAGE, SO I CHANGED THE BATTERY IN NOVEMBER. AFTER THAT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHEN AWAY, BUT WOULD COME BACK ON SPORADICALLY. THE JEEP WAS STILL SHUDDERING/JUMPING AND WOULD THEN COMPLETELY STOP AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM NOTIFICATION, STILL. I JUST TOOK IT TO ANOTHER GARAGE (ARIL 2018), SINCE THE PREVIOUS TWO HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. AT THIS POINT I WAS STILL PULLING THROTTLE POSITION 1 AND 2 CODES. THIS GARAGE REPLACED THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY AND RAN A FUEL INJECTION SERVICE. WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF ME DRIVING AWAY FROM THAT GARAGE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED BY A SOFTER SHUDDER OF THE VEHICLE AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT. I TRIED TO PULL CODES WHEN I GOT HOME, BUT THERE WERE NONE--BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ARE STILL ON.
2012 JEEP SAHARA RADIO STOPPED WORKING. IT CUTS IN AND OUT (ONLY STATIC). WIPERS GOES OFF WHENEVER IT WANTS AND NOW WIPER FLUID DOESN'T COME OUT
DRIVING OUT OF MY WORK PARKINGLOT ON A CLEAR DRY EVEN ROAD ONTO A FOURLANE STREET ACROSS TRAFFIC ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON THEN FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THEN STARTED PULSATING CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE T-BONED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE.
THE JEEP STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT STILL CONTINUES. LAST WEEK MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME, AND AFTER 2 HOURS OF DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED AT 70MPH IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. IT IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP, AGAIN! IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
WHEN I FILL-UP MY GAS TANK, THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF PROPERLY AND GAS OVERFLOWS TANK, SPILLING ONTO REAR QUARTER PANEL, BUMPER, AND GROUND SURFACE. AT TIME OF FILL-UP, VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, PARKING BREAK ON, AND ENGINE OFF. THIS OCCURS PRACTICALLY EVERY TIME I FILL UP GAS TANK, AND OCCURS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. HENCE, THIS PROBLEM IS NOT CAUSED BY THE GAS STATION PUMPS, AND APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY MY VEHICLE NOT SHUTTING OFF PUMP BEFORE GAS OVERFLOWS TANK. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE, AND IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON TO JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS, AND JEEP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO FIX PROBLEM. OVERALL, THE OVERFLOWING OF GAS FROM TANK UPON EACH FILL-UP PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT RISK TO VEHICLE OWNERS AND GAS STATION ATTENDANTS (NOTE: I LIVE IN NJ, AND STATE LAW REQUIRED GAS STATION ATTENDANTS, I.E., NOT VEHICLE OWNERS, TO PUMP ALL GAS INTO VEHICLES). I BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY INITIATED A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR 2007 TO 2009 JEEP WRANGLERS, BUT NOT LATER MODELS.
GAS TANK CRACK LEAKS FUMES, ALSO THE TRANSMISSION POPS OUT WHILE DRIVING AND DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT FIX UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY SAID IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN REPAIRMAN TEST DROVE IT. NOW ITS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT DOES NOT WORK HAS 36,700. MILES ON IT 700 MILES PAST WARRANTY AND ONE YEAR PASS WARRANTY. THESE ARE TWO DEFECTIVE PARTS AND EITHER COULD RUN YOU OFF THE ROAD AND GAS LEAK BLOW UP YOUR CAR. MY GUESS IS THESE PARTS ARE MADE IN CHINA. WE ALL HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS WITH OUR SAFETY AND OUR LIVES IN SOME CASES.
THE MOTOR WAS OVERHEATING THE RADIATOR FAN DID NOT TURN ON. TIPM WAS DEFECT.
JOINT BETWEEN PITMAN ARM AND TIE ROD FAILED, LEAVING NO STEERING WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH IN A STRAIGHT-AWAY. UNDER MANY CIRCUMSTANCES THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO A DEADLY CRASH. THERE WAS NO FOREWARNING OF PENDING JOINT FAILURE (NO NOISE, VIBRATION, SLOPPY STEERING, ETC). VEHICLE WAS SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PRECEDING 3 MONTHS. NO MECHANICS OBSERVED WEAR OF THIS JOINT. 105K MILES ON VEHICLE.
2012 WRANGLER CLOCK SPRING ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR. AIRBAG MAY NOT INFLATE IF NEEDED AND THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO MY MODEL YEAR. DO I NEED TO DIE BEFORE THAT HAPPENS?
THE HEATER ON MY JEEP, WHICH ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT, SLOWLY STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. THE CALLED LATER THAT DAY AND SAID I NEED A NEW HEATER CORE WHICH COSTS $1200. THE NEXT DAY THE CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT I ACTUALLY NEED A NEW HEATER CORE, RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, ETC. BASICALLY THE WHOLE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM FOR THE ENGINE AND THE ESTIMATE IS UP TO $2200. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM WHICH IS FRUSTRATING. IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A RADIATOR PROBLEM THAT SENDS PARTICLES THROUGH THE SYSTEM AND CLOGS THE HEATER CORE. I'M HOPING THAT THERE WILL BE A RECALL SO THAT I CAN RECOUP SOME OF THIS $2200 THAT I'M ABOUT TO HAVE TO PAY TO FIX MY JEEP. ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT APPARENTLY!
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD JUST RANDOMLY ALERTS OFF AND ON AND THIS WAS AT THE SAME TIME ALL THE LEFT SIDE PANELS OF THE STEERING WHEEL STOPPED WORKING INCLUDING THE HORN. IF SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT AND THEIR DISTRIBUTION OF WEIGHT SHIFTS THE AIR BAG PASSENGER ALERT SYSTEM LET'S YOU KNOW IT'S NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A CLOCKSPRING AND IT'S AIR BAG WIRING UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT TO THE ALERT SYSTEM. I SAW ON THIS SITE WHERE IT MENTIONED A CLOCKSPRING PROBLEM.IT DOES THIS WHETHER STOPPED OR GOING. THIS IS CONTINUOUSLY AN ISSUE NOW. PLEASE ADVISE HOW I NEED TO PROCEED WITH THE RECALL.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal burning odor around the vehicle. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and other various speeds the burning odor was still present. The check engine warning light illuminated with the temperature gauge rising from normal to hot. An audible alarm was heard during the failure. The vehicle was driven to the residence and then towed to a dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the radiator needed to be replaced. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who determined that coolant was leaking into the cylinder head. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
DISAPPOINTED IN JEEP I HAVE A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA WITH 44,000 HIGHWAY MILES, DURING CITY DRIVING, THE JEEP STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME, WE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. WE IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO CHAPMAN JEEP IN HENDERSON NV. FOR TROUBLESHOOTING, I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS MODEL YEAR WAS AFFECTED BY THE FAULTY CYLINDER HEAD SERVICE BULLETIN AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, WOULD BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER AT NO CHARGE. A FEW DAYS LATER, WE GOT A RETURN CALL FROM JEEP SAYING THE FAULT WAS NOT THE CYLINDER HEAD, BUT IT WAS THE ENGINE ITSELF! A PISTON HAD MELTED IN NUMBER 6 CYLINDER AND THE ENGINE WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT! AS YOU CAN IMAGINE I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO FIND A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WITH ONLY 44000 MILES, WOULD NOW REQUIRE AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT COSTING ME $7000.00 DOLLARS! I REQUESTED NUMEROUS TIMES FOR JEEP TO TELL ME HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN, BUT THE REPLY WAS THEY DID NOT KNOW. THE ENGINE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED WITH THE BEST OIL AND COOLANT, AND NO OTHER CYLINDERS WERE AFFECTED. I HAVE HELD OFF WRITING THIS LETTER SINCE I WANTED TO GET OUR JEEP RETURNED TO ME BEFORE MORE MONEY WAS REMOVED FROM MY WALLET. I DO REALIZE THINGS CAN GO WRONG, BUT SOMETHING FAILED INTERNALLY TO THE ENGINE, THIS WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL, AND ALL CHRYSLER/JEEP COULD DO WAS SHRUG THEIR SHOULDERS AND SAY PAY ME. YOU HAVE LOST A JEEP CUSTOMER, AND I'LL BE SURE TO LET MY FRIENDS IN THE JEEP CLUBS KNOW OF THIS EXPENSIVE OUTCOME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AS THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER EIGHT MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER (STEVENS CREEK CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, 4100 STEVENS CREEK BLVD, SAN JOSE, CA 95129, (408) 248-1800) CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECENTLY RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALERTING HIM THAT THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY VEHICLE STARTED OUT WITH INTERMITTENTLY NOT BEING ABLE TO START/ TURN OVER OR RECEIVE ELECTRONIC SIGNALS TO THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. OVER TIME THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE PREVALENT WITH OTHER ISSUES OCCURRING ALONG WITH INABILITY TO START. THESE PROBLEMS INCLUDED LOSS OF POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION AND POSITION SENSORS, AND CABIN LIGHTS COMING ON THERE OWN WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE MECHANICS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM WAS THE PROBLEM, AFTER REPLACING THE MODULE ALL PROBLEMS HAVE STOPPED.
ON JAN 8TH I WAS HEADING HOME ON UNION ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. A CAR INFRONT OF ME DECIDED TO TURN LEFT SO I HAD TO STOP WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO AROUND HIM I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND MY JEEP STOPPED DEAD. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, REVERSE, OR NEUTRAL THE JEEP DIDN'T MOVE. HAD I HAVE BEEN GOING THE SPEED LIMIT OR GOT ON THE THURWAY IN WHICH WAS 200 FT AWAY WHERE I WAS HEADED TO GO HOME MY JEEP WOULD HAVE FLIPPED FROM THE SUDDEN LOCK UP OF MY WHEELS. I COULD HAVE DIED. THERE WAS NO WARNINGS, NOISES, ECT. IT JUST SNAPPED. NOT ONLY THE 1500 DOLLAR REPAIR THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD TO BE A DEFECT IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. TIPM SMOKING AT POWER FEED. RANDOM TOTAL LOSS OF ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING.
HEATING ISSUES, HEAR FLUID RUNNING THROUGH HEATER CORE, HAVE BEEN THROUGH 2 WATER PUMPS, NO HEAT WHEN STOPPED BUT HEAT WHEN MOVING,
ENGINE DASH LIGHTS ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF THEN BACK ON WILL IN MOTION. ALSO WHILE IN MOTION, AN RPM SURGE OCCURRED WHICH ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS SURGE HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE LAST DAY SO HAVE PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN BODILY HARM.
MY JEEP WRANGLER JKU HAS THE SAME ENGINE AS THE CHRYSLER 200, THE 3.6 PENTASTAR. THE HEAT DOESN'T WORK. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT REACHES OPERATING TEMP. THE FLUIDS ARE AT OPTIMUM LEVEL, NEW THERMOSTAT. PERFORMED A RADIATOR FLUSH AND OTHER HEAT TROUBLE SHOOTING CHECKED OUT. I HAVE ABOUT 88,000 MILES. THE DEALER SHIP DID SOME WORK ON A CYLINDER HEAD AND DISCOUNTED. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAVOR BUT AFTER I LOOKED INTO THE FIX, I FOUND OTHERS WITH SAME FIXES.
THE HEAT JUST STOPPED WORKING. I SEE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND PRESENTED LAWSUIT AGAINST JEEP. IT WAS WORKING FINE, STOPPED AT STORE THEN NOTHING BUT COLD AIR ON THE WAY HOME. ONCE FINALLY HOME, TURNED CAR OFF THEN BACK ON A FEW MINUTES LATER. STILL COLD AIR. TURNED ON HIGH THEN ALL THE WAY COLD THEN ALL THE WAY BACK TO HOT AND FINALLY WARM AIR AGAIN. PLEASE CORRECT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE "MOST AMERICAN CAR". THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THIS TANK. TIME TO DO THE AMERICAN THING AND BACK YOUR PRODUCT AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
VEHICLE RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND HAD A SUDDEN POWER LOSS. WITH THE ENGINE STARTED, THE VEHICLE HAS A LOUD TICKING SOUND FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD. CALLED A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THE MANUFACTURER EXTENDED WARRANTY WONT COVER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS A SALVAGED TITLE.

CHRYSLER GROUP LLC IS BETTING ON THE FACT THAT EACH AND EVERY PERSON FILLING OUT THIS NHTSA FORM CLICKS THE 'NO ONE DIED & NO ONE GOT HURT' BUTTON SO A RECALL WILL NEVER BE ISSUED! THAT IS THEIR FIX! APPROXIMATELY TWICE A MONTH YEARS 2016 TO PRESENT, WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS AT ANY SPEED, JEEP HAS LOST SPEED QUICKLY AND HAS CONCURRENTLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IT FEELS AS IF THE ENGINE IS BOGGING DOWN. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OFF THE ROAD EACH TIME. THE JEEP HAS NEVER TURNED OFF NOR STALLED. THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS FIXED ITSELF AFTER A FEW MOMENTS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. EACH AND EVERY TIME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF BY ITSELF. I HAVE TAKEN THE JEEP IN FOR SERVICE TO MY LONG TIME TRUSTED MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT REPLICATE NOR FIND A CODE. BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF FIRE THAT I READ ABOUT PLAGUING THESE JEEP MODELS, I FEEL VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE MY JEEP ANYWHERE LET ALONE GO OFF INTO THE WILDERNESS OFFROADING. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR STORIES ON SITES SUCH AS THIS. I CANNOT BELIEVE NOTHING, NOT ONE THING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. SHAME ON CHRYSLER FOR TURNING A BLIND EYE BUT WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR DAYS AND MONTHS KNOWING WHAT THE EXACT ISSUE IS. AGAIN, CHRYSLER IS BETTING ON THE FACT EVERYONE OF US WILL CLICK THE NHTSA BOXES THAT SAY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND NO ONE DIED. THAT WAY, NO RECALL WILL EVER BE ISSUED. CHRYSLER GROUP LLC HOPES YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY, IF NOT, THEY WILL PUSH UNTIL YOU RUN OUT. THEN THEY BLAME RODENTS CHEWING ON WIRES ETC...LUDICROUS
THERE ARE MANY OF THESE VEHICLES THAT WERE MANUFACTURED IN MEXICO AND THEY HAD ISSUES LEAVING RESIDUE IN HEATER COIL MAKING THE HEAT NOT WORK PROPERLY. IF THE HEAT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY IT CAN CAUSE ISSUES WITH PERSON NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE DUE TO HEAT NOT BEING EFFECTIVE ENOUGH TO DEFROST A FROSTY OR ICY WINDSHIELD. JEEP HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL AND THE BURDEN IS PUSHED OFF ONTO THE CONSUMER. THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE/ CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN FAULTY ON MY VEHICLE FROM ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER BUYING IT NEW. IT BEING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY ON SEVERAL INSTANCES. I HAVE ORDERED A NEW PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL OE UNIT TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM. YES THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CABLE TENSION SYSTEM.
JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA 2012 HEATED SEATS MALFUNCTIONED. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATED SEAT BUTTON WORKS WELL. THE DRIVER SIDE DOES NOT WORK WHEN DASHBOARD BUTTON IS PRESSED DOWN. THE DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT INDICATOR BUTTON TURNS OFF AFTER 5 SECONDS AND DOES NOT WORK. THERE ARE NUMEROUS BLOGS AND TROUBLESHOOTING ONLINE SITES WHERE CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN OF THIS ISSUE WITH NO PERMANENT RESOLVE. MANY JEEP OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES OF GOING TO THE DEALER TO GET THIS HEATED SIT MALFUNCTION FIXED....SADLY TO ONLY HAVE THE ISSUE REOCCURR WEEKS LATER. AGAIN TO BE CLEAR, THE DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEATS DO NOT HEAT UP AT ALL. FURTHERMORE, THE DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT BUTTON LIGHT GOES OFF AFTER 5 SECONDS. I ASKED WHY THEY DELATED MY PURCHASE INFO FROM THEIR COMPUTERS AND HE COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER-ONLY SILENCE. I KNOW THOSE AIRBAGS COULD EXPLODE IN HOT WEATHER, SO I HOPE TO CHANGE THEM BY THE SPRING. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN AZ. PLEASE HELP. THE DEALERSHIP DROVE IT AGAIN AND SAID IT DID STALL ON THE MECHANIC. SO THEY FIXED SOMETHING ($700) DEALING WITH THE POWER. I PICKED IT UP AND IT STALLED ON ME AGAIN ON THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (RIVER OAKS JEEP IN HOUSTON) AND THEY DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. I HAVE ALSO SUBMITTED AN ONLINE REPORT. 2 DAYS AGO, THE JEEP AGAIN STALLED WHILE I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. I PUT IT BACK INTO PARK FROM REVERSE AND RESTARTED IT. IT RESTARTED BUT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I THEN TURNED IT OFF AGAIN, RESTARTED AGAIN AND IT THEN WENT INTO GEAR AND ALLOWED ME TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING CARS. THIS PATTERN OF STALLING, BEING UNABLE TO GO BACK INTO GEAR, REQUIRING TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING HAS BEEN RECURRENT AND HAS OCCURRED EXACTLY LIKE THAT ABOUT 8 TOTAL TIMES NOW. THE DAY AFTER PURCHASING A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER, ON 5/4/2017, WITH 49000 MILES, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, AN UNUSUAL TICKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THIS EPISODE AND HAS NOT COME OFF EVER SINCE.
THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM WILL TURN ON AT RANDOM. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE CRUISE CONTROL IS DISABLED, ENGINE POWER DECREASED AND THE GAS PEDAL RENDERED ALMOST USELESS. I CANNOT SAFELY ACCELERATE ONTO A INTERSTATE FREEWAY. WHEN THE HIGHWAY GOES UPHILL, THE JEEP DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAINTAIN SPEED DESPITE DOWNSHIFTING. CASE IN POINT; I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE ON A HIGHWAY. I LOOKED IN MY MIRROR AND SAW A SEMI- TRUCK COMING IN MY LANE. I LOOKED OVER TO THE FAST LANE AND IT WAS FULL OF CARS. I KNEW THE TRUCK WILL OVER COME ME AND IT HAD NO OPTION TO MOVE INTO THE FAST LANE. TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED, I PULLED THE JEEP OVER TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN I DID THAT, THE SEMI TRUCK PASSED ME ON MY LEFT. THERE IS A BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE STABILITY CONTROL BUT IT DOES NOT WORK. ANOTHER SITUATION; I WENT OFF ROAD IN VERY SANDY SOIL. THE STABILITY CONTROL WENT ON AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED. BECAUSE OF THAT, I WAS NOT ABLE TO APPLY POWER TO THE WHEELS THUS I GOT STUCK IN THE SAND OVER TEN TIMES IN A VERY REMOTE AREA WHERE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POSSIBILITY OF HELP.
PARKING BREAK WILL NOT HOLD. HAVE HAD THE PARKING BREAK SHOES REPLACED AND ADJUSTED BUT STILL WILL ROLL SLOWLY IF NOT ON A FLAT SURFACE. MINE HAS A MANUEL TRANSMISSION SO I HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN GEAR TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING. THE CLUTCH ALSO IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AFTER ONLY 74,000 MILES OF DRIVING. HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN APRIL 2017.
