I AM HAVING A CONSTANT ISSUE WITH MY HEADLIGHTS MAINLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALL THREE LIGHTS (HIGH BEAM, LOW BEAM AND FOG LIGHT) ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ARE DIM. WHEN I DISCONNECT THE LOW BEAM BULB THE THE OTHER TWO BULBS LIGHT UP FULLY. WHEN I CONNECT THE LOW BEAM BULB BACK THERE IS A HUMMING SOUND THAT STARTS AND ALL PASSENGER SIDE BULBS GO DIM AGAIN. MY KIA SORENTO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR GOING ON SIX YEARS NOW. USUALLY WE COULD CUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN BACK BRIGHT. THE PAST COUPLE OF TIME WE HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE BULBS. NOW NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP. WHEN CHANGING THE BULBS THEY ALL STAY DIM UNLESS I DISCONNECT THE LOW BEAM BULB WHICH I CAN'T DO FOR SAFETY REASONS. AND TO AVOID GETTING A TICKET I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE DIM. NEXT STEP IS TO TRY AND REPLACE THE HEAD LIGHT WIRING HARNESS OR TAKE IT TO THE KIA SERVICE DEAPARTMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE CONTACT WAITED APPROXIMATELY THIRTY MORE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED NORMALLY, BUT COULD NOT EXCEED 40 MPH. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,800.
VEHICLE WILL NOT START AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. REPLACED BATTERY & AFTER APROX 1 MONTH ISSUE HAS OCCURRED AGAIN. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, THE ONLY ANSWER I GET IS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY (WHICH I DID). THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS JAN 2016 & I HAVE KEPT BATTERY ON A SLOW DRIP CHARGER AS I CANNOT WAIT ON JUMP/TOW DAILY.
PAINT HAS BEEN PEELING ON THE EXTERIOR ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE PILLARS; ON THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DELAMINATION LIKE DAMAGE WAS NOT DUE TO PHYSICAL IMPACT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF FRACTURED AND EXPLODED OUTWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
DEAR NHTSA, I WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A FAILURE TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OF MY 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE INITIAL SYMPTOM OF THE FAILURE WAS AN INTERMITTENT RED AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT THAT WOULD APPEAR ON THE DRIVER'S INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE DRIVING. WITHIN A WEEK, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING, INDICATING THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. THE KIA DEALER RETRIEVED ERROR CODES B1763 AND B1764 DURING THEIR INSPECTION. THEY DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE TO BE THE "ELECTRIC FIELD OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR" WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE FRONT-PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION. THE SENSOR IS NOT SOLD INDIVIDUALLY, BUT ONLY AS PART OF THE ENTIRE LOWER SEAT ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER QUOTED OVER $1,600 AS THE RETAIL PURCHASE PRICE. THIS INCLUDED THE SEAT COVER, CUSHION, ADJUSTABLE SEAT RAILS, AND THE ONE PART I NEEDED, THE ELECTRIC FIELD OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR. THE ASSEMBLY PART NUMBER WAS 88200-1U210SAL AFTER TEARING DOWN MY OLD SEAT ASSEMBLY I FOUND THE FOLLOWING PART NUMBERS ON THE FAILED ELECTRIC FIELD OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR. AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MONDAY (JANUARY 11, 2016) MORNING UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT DID NOT TURN OFF. IT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES INDICATING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS IN THE VEHICLE. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF DOES NOT RESET HE PROBLEM AS IT STILL PERSIST. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON IF VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR DRIVE OR ANY GEAR. ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL SPEEDS FROM STANDING TO 65MPH. AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON AT THE TIME OF FILING THIS COMPLAINT WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13 2016 APPROXIMATELY 9:00AM EST I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH PARKSIDE KIA OF KNOXVILLE TN AND HAVE A SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS INVESTIGATED ON THURSDAY JANUARY 14, 2016. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SINCE THIS ISSUE AROSE AND AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AS THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO KNOW IF IN FACT THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS TO ME AS I HAVE 4 CHILDREN ONE OF WHOM HAS A LOT OF MEDICAL NEEDS, A WIFE AND A NURSE WHO ARE OFTEN TIMES IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. I STRONGLY URGE AN INVESTIGATION IN TO THIS BEFORE SOME ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE.
MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR HAS ILLUMINATED. WHEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE, IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT MOSTLY OCCURS IN VEHICLES THAT, LIKE MINE, HAVE JUST SURPASSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD. IF HUNDREDS OF CAR OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE, WHY IS IT NOT A PROBLEM COVERED UNDER A RECALL?
SECOND ROW RIGHT PASSENGER SEAT HANDLE TO PUT SEAT DOWN GETS STUCK AND IS VERY HARD TO PUT BACK UP OR LAY IT DOWN TO ACCESS THE THIRD ROW.
One month after purchasing(11-29-15) used car from Kia dealer, the paint started peeling on front panel above the windshield. It was repaired(12-28-15) by the dealer. It was brought to their attention when other areas started peeling shortly after but they didn’t care and didn’t say anything was wrong. Now there are four areas that are peeling on my car. It has been parked in garage since purchased. The auto body place said that it looks like it was not painted correctly.
I BOUGHT A 2013 KIA SORENTO LAST NIGHT SATURDAY 12/19/2015 AND THE PAPERWORK DID NOT GET COMPLETE UNTIL AFTER 10:30PM. THE SALESMAN STATED THAT ALL COMPONENTS HAD BEEN CHECKED AND THAT ALL WAS GOOD. I LIVE A HOUR AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I WAS ON 290 HEADING EAST AT ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY DASH AND RADIO PANEL LIGHTS START FLICKERING, MY MOTOR FELT LIKE IT IDLED DOWN A LITTLE BUT THEN IT WAS OK, BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE RADIO AREA, STEERING WHEEL AND SPEEDOMETER AREA TURNED OFF AND IT LOST A LITTLE POWER BUT THEN THEY ALL CAME BACK ON AND I MADE IT HOME, THEN ON 12/20/15 I WAS DRIVING INTO TOWN AND AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES AT 75 MPH MY INSIDE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AGAIN, AND THEN WENT TOTALLY DARK. I DIDN'T LOSE ANY POWER THIS TIME BUT I'M STARTING TO FEEL PRETTY RIPPED OFF. I ALSO NOTICED TODAY THAT WHILE DRIVING ON HWY THAT WHEN YOU COME UP TO A CURVE TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE JERKS TO FAR AND I ENDED UP IN THE OTHER LANE. THANK GOD THAT NO CAR WAS THERE. *DT
HIT MY BRAKES GOING ROUGHLY 30MPG (I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE TOLLWAY WITH LOTS OF BRAKING AND GOING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES ALREADY), THE ABS WAS TRIGGERED AS THE CAR WAS MAKING THE JERKING/THUMPING (HOWEVER YOU DESCRIBE FEEL OF ABS), I SHOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH SPACE TO STOP, BUT MY CAR WAS ACCELERATING IT SEEMED AT THE SAME TIME, I HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND IT CONTINUED, LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT THE CAR A SECOND TIME ALL WHILE THE BRAKE (ONLY) WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THAT FINALLY STOPPED THE CAR. THE OTHER DRIVER THOUGHT I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND TOO SINCE THERE WERE TWO HITS...BUT I FELT THE LURCHING AND ALSO THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE BACK OF MY CAR, PROVING IT WAS MY CAR. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! AFTER READING ONLINE I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OF KIA'S LURCHING AND ACCELERATING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. MANY ACCIDENTS REPORTED WHILE PARKING AND THE CAR ACCELERATES SO QUICKLY IT JUMPS A CURB, HITS A TREE, OR ANOTHER CAR OR OTHER SUCH INCIDENTS. I PURCHASED THE KIA SORENTO NEW JUNE 2013. I HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALER AT ABOUT 5700 MILES ON OR ABOUT NOVEMBER 2013. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT KIA HAD THE BEST WARRANTY AND ONLY SUGGESTED OIL CHANGES AT 7500-10,000 MILE INTERVALS. I PURCHASED THE OIL AND MY FATHER CHANGED THE OIL 2 MORE TIMES ONCE IN JULY 2014 AND AGAIN SEPTEMBER 2015. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR MY WIFE WHO GAVE BIRTH TO OUR SON THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS NOT DRIVEN OFTEN BECAUSE SHE DID NOT RETURN TO WORK UNTIL OCTOBER 2013. AS A TEACHER SHE ONLY WORKED UNTIL MAY 2014 AND DID NOT RETURN TO WORK UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2015. SHE WORKED LESS THAN 10 MILES FROM HOME THEREFORE OUR MILEAGE WAS LOW. AROUND DECEMBER 9, 2015 MY WIFE SAID THE CAR WAS 'ACTING FUNNY'. I TOLD HER TO COME HOME AND I WOULD HAVE MY DAD LOOK AT IT. WHEN SHE CAME HOME THE CAR APPEARED FINE NO LIGHTS, NO WARNINGS, NO SOUNDS THAT WASN'T NORMAL. THE NEXT DAY WE WERE DRIVING AND THE CAR IT JUST STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AGAIN NO WARNING LIGHTS, OR ENGINE LIGHT NO LOW OIL LIGHT... NOTHING. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER TOOK SEVERAL DAYS TO TELL US THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN BECAUSE WE DIDN'T CHANGE THE OIL ENOUGH. WE WERE NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR 5000 MILES. AFTER A MONTH OF WAITING KIA TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT FIXING UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE SPOKE TO MANY PEOPLE, DEALERSHIPS, JUNK YARDS, MECHANICS... ALL SAY AFTER ONLY 30000 ON THE CAR NO WAY IT SHOULD HAVE THAT MUCH ENGINE SLUDGE TO BLOW THE ENGINE EVEN IF IT WAS NEVER CHANGED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH KIA AND HYUNDAI. FACT: KIA HAS HAD A PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THE 2004-2009 KIA SORENTO DUE TO ENGINE ISSUES. FACT: TOYOTA HAD PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THEIR ENGINE SLUDGE ISSUES. (LOST THE CASE AND IS REPAIRING THE ENGINES) FACT: HYUNDAI SONATA HAS KNOWN ISSUES - KIA AND HYUNDAI SAME COMPANY!!!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENO. THE CONTACT STATED THE PAINT ON THE ROOF AND HOOD HAD CHIPPED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE SEVERAL SPOTS THAT HAD DETERIOTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALL STAR KIA OF BATON ROUGE 5740 SIEGEN LN, BATON ROUGE, LA 70809 (225) 490-7604 BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT MERGED THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLES OCCUPANTS WERE EVACUATED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DEEMED TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,307.
2013 VEHICLE WITH 60,939 MILES HAS AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER RECALL SC 124 PERFORMED. DEALER INDICATES CODES B1764 AND 1765 OCS DEFECT. DEALER STATES SENSOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN PASSENGER IS IN SEAT, MAKING THIS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT NO ONE SHOULD SIT IN THIS SEAT BECAUSE A COLLISION COULD RESULT IN "TRAGEDY." KIA SAYS VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY (BY 939 MILES) AND I AM SECOND OWNER (PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 12K MIKES AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED) THEREFORE, KIA WILL SPLIT THE REPAIR COST 3 WAYS-KIA, DEALER, ME ($2,200.00 REPAIR AND ONLY FACTORY PARTS CAN BE USED, RESULTING IN OVER $700.00 FOR ME TO PAY IF I WANT MY KIDS TO BE SAFE IN THE CAR) THERE ARE 42 OTHER REPORTS OF THIS EXACT DEFECT AT HTTP://REPAIRPAL.COM/AIR-BAG-LIGHT-INDICATOR-691 SIMILAR MILEAGE AND SAME SEAT LOCATION ON MANY OF THOSE REPORTS. DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE ON OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL. NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, AS AIRBAGS SAVE LIVES, AND KIA'S AIRBAG SENSORS ARE DEFECTIVE. NO CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO BEAR THIS UNREASONABLE FINANCIAL BURDEN ON A THREE YEAR OLD CAR FOR AN AIRBAG SENSOR THAT GOES OUT AT A FEW MILES OVER 60,000. SENSOR REMAINS ON CONSTANTLY. SHAME ON YOU, KIA. THIS WAS MY THIRD KIA BECAUSE I TRUSTED KIA'S COMMITMENT TO SAFETY. I WILL NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN.
RADIO CUTS ON AND OFF AT WILL. MOSTLY OFF. HEADLIGHTS GO OUT OFTEN. BOTH OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHILE MOVING AND WHILE SITTING STILL. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY.
I TOOK T\HE VEHICLE TO A NON DEALER LOCATION TO BE INSPECTED AFTER HAVING MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY BEING FAULTY. UPON INSPECTION I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE MECHANIC ON DUTY THAT THE WIRING ASSEMBLY WAS ACTUALLY MELTING , A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. BECAUSE THIS BEING A FIRE HAZARD HE WAS UNABLE TO REPLACE THE BULBS FOR ME AND SAID HE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT WOULD PLACE MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY AT RISK. HE PROCEEDED TO SHOW ME THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN MY HAVING TO REPLACE THE BULBS FIVE TIMES IN THE PAST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND AT LEAST TWICE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE WIRING ASSEMBLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. HAVE ALSO PROVIDED A PICTURE OF THE REPAIR NOTE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO PROVIDING A CLIP SHOWING THAT ACCORDING TO THEIR INSPECTION MY LIGHTS WERE IN WORKING ORDER WHEN IN ACTUALITY THEY WERE NOT. LASTLY NOTING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES REMAIN IN ADDITION TO HAVING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AS IT IS BEING CONTINUALLY DRAWN FROM DUE TO THESE ISSUES.
WHEN I TOOK MY 2013 KIA SORENTO TO RICK CASE KIA (DULUTH GA) FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE IN DEC 2014, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAR NEEDED ALIGNMENT AND BRAKE FLUID FLUSHING. I DECLINED BOTH SERVICES AND HAD ONLY THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE WORK DONE. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE SAME DEALER ON 10/12/15, I WAS TOLD I NO LONGER NEEDED THE PREVIOUSLY RECOMMENDED ALIGNMENT AND THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS OKAY. WHILE I WAS INITIALLY RELIEVED THAT I WAS LONGER HAD TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN UNNECESSARY EXPENSES, I AM CURRENTLY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY IMPLICATIONS OF THE ACCURACY OF YOUR CAR INSPECTION AND RECOMMENDED FIXES. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE INITIAL, OR THE LAST EVALUATION THAT WAS ACCURATE. MOREOVER, I AM YET TO GET ANY REPLY TO ALL MY NUMEROUS EMAILS, MESSAGES AND LETTERS TO RICK CASE KIA AND KIA CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER.
TAKATA RECALL, 2014 KIA SORENTO LISTS POWER WHEN I ACCELLERATE. SORENTO IS VERY SLUGGISH WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT SEEMS TO JERK AND LOSE POWER. THIS SLUGGISH FEELING HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY, EVEN IF I HAVE A TUNE UP COMPLETED AND ALL NEW FILTERS. I HAVE ALSO TRIED DIFFERENT BRANDS OF GASOLINE TO TRY AND HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. MY 2013 KIA SORRENTO'S PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THIS AFTERNOON ON SATURDAY AUGUST 22, 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM EST. I WENT OUTSIDE TO PLACE SOMETHING IN MY VEHICLE WHEN I NOTICED THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE AT 1:00 AM WHEN I RETURNED FROM RUNNING AN ERRAND. I PARKED, MADE SURE ALL THE LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF, ARMED THE SECURITY SYSTEM AND WENT INSIDE. BEFORE MY WIFE AND I WENT TO BED I WENT OUT TO MAKE SURE THAT I TURNED ALL LIGHTS OFF WHICH THEY WERE. THIS WAS AT 2:00 AM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED SINCE THAT TIME. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE ALREADY WHERE THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE JUMPED AT LEAST 12 TIMES DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE FALLS WELL WITHIN IT'S WARRANTY SO IT WILL BE COVERED HOWEVER THE ISSUE IS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT IT WARRANTS ATTENTION WHICH I BELIEVE WILL BE IGNORED IF NOT BROUGHT TO LIGHT AND MAY RESULT IN INJURIES OR COST TO OTHERS WHEN NO COST SHOULD BE INCURRED. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I FEEL THIS COULD LEAD TO PROBLEMS WITH STEERING, BRAKING SYSTEM, ENGINE MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS POSSIBLE RISKS OF FIRE DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BELIEVING IT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY VOIDED MY WARRANTY STATING I HAD EXCESSIVE SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. FOR MORE THAN A MONTH PRIOR TO THAT INCIDENT WE ALSO HAD A AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND STAY ON. AT THE TIME OF ENGINE FAILURE WE THOUGHT THAT WE COULD FIX THAT ISSUE AS WELL ONLY TO FIND THAT MY ELECTRICAL WARRANTY WENT OUT AT 60,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THESE ITEMS ONLINE ONLY TO FIND THAT THERE IS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF BOTH ENGINE FAILURE AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATING WHICH IS SAID TO BE A CONTROL MODULE. WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS OUT THERE WHY IS THERE NO RECALL.
THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD REDUCING VISIBILTY AS THE REFLECTIONS CAUSE DISTORTED VISION THRU THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS ON SUNNY DAYS AS THE REFLECTIONS INCREASE DEPENDING ON THE ANGLE OF THE SUN REFLECTING OFF THE SHINY DASHBOARD ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. MAYBE THE DASHBOARD SHOULD NOT BE COATED WITH SUCH A REFLECTIVE AND SHINY MATERIAL TO AVOID THIS ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE SPEED PANEL HAS DETAILED METALLIC PAINT AROUND THE SPEEDOMETER AND PANEL INFO WHICH REFLECTS BEAMS OF BLINDING LIGHT FROM THE SUN AND BRIGHT LIGHTS INTO THE DRIVERS FACE WHILE DRIVING. AGAIN, MAYBE THE METALLIC PAINT AND SHINY REFLECTIVE DESIGN SHOULD BE CHANGED TO NON-REFLECTIVE OPTIONS TO AVOID BLINDING THE DRIVER. ANNOYING FEATURES WHICH CAUSE THE DRIVER TO ADJUST POSITION WHILE DRIVING OR TRY TO BLOCK THE BLINDING LIGHTS AND VISUAL DISTRACTIONS WHILE IN MOTION ARE DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. KIA PLEASE CONSIDER REDESIGNING THESE DANGEROUS DESIGN DETAILS AND INCREASE THE SAFETY FOR EVERYONE. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, I NOTICED MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR KIA SORENTO; SAME YEAR AND SAME PEARL WHITE COLOR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A PAINT SHOP, AND THEY SAID IT'S A "DELAMINATION" PROBLEM, AND IT'S A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURER'S PAINT. IT WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO WORSEN. I TOOK IT TO KIA (AFTER HAVING MY ENGINE REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE AND SEIZING ON THE HIGHWAY), AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COVER ALL EXPENSES TO FIX IT. UPON PULLING OVER AND INSPECTING THE CAR, WE FOUND THAT THE REAR SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED AND WAS IN TINY PIECES. THE COVER HAD BEEN PULLED SHUT SO ONLY A RELATIVELY SMALL AMOUNT OF GLASS FELL THROUGH INTO THE CAR, BUT HAD THE COVER BEEN OPEN THE GLASS PIECES WOULD HAVE FALLEN IN ON OUR TWO YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT. I WAS TOLD "THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH PEARL CARS AND YOUR OUT OF WARRANTY SO THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT". SINCE THEN THE PROBLEM HAS GROWN IMMENSLEY AND NOW THE PAINT IS FLAKING OFF OF BOTH SIDES OF MY CAR AROUND MY WINDSHIELD AND HAS SCATTERED RUST THROUGHOUT. I RECENTLY HAD TO GET A SPOT FIXED AND THE COLLISION SHOP CALLED ME AND EXPLAINED THAT THE PAINT WAS NOT STICKING TO THE PRIMER THEREFORE I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE ALMOST THE WHOLE ROOF REPAINTED. THE PEELING PAINT ISSUE IS THE SIMILAR, IF NOT THE SAME, AS THAT SEEN ONLINE WITH OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. ON 12/22/14 WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON SECONDARY ROAD ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE A TICKING SOUND. PARKED VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED THE FOLLOWING DAY ON 12/23/14 TO KIA DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED ME THAT AFTERNOON AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE OIL CONTROL VALVE AND IT WAS ORDERED AND REQUESTED FOR OVERNIGHT AND CAR WOULD BE DONE ON 12/24/14. I CALLED DEALER ON 12/24/14 @ 11:03AM AND PART WASN'T IN YET WAS TOLD THAT I'D BE CALLED WHEN PART ARRIVED. RECEIVED CALL FROM DEALER AT 2PM THAT PART HAD ARRIVED AND BEEN INSTALLED BY TECH BUT THAT ENGINE WAS STILL MAKING TICKING NOISE, SO NOT FIXED. WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO START OVER AGAIN ON FRIDAY 12/26/14 WITH REQUEST TO KIA WARRANTY SERVICE FOR APPROVAL FOR "ENGINE TEAR DOWN", WHICH I WILL ALSO HAVE TO AUTHORIZED AND AGREE TO PAY $400.00 FOR (WAIVED IF ALL REPAIRS ARE COVERED BY WARRANTY). THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 53000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 30 MONTHS, ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES FOLLOWED AND THERE SHOULD NO WAY BE AN INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEM ON A PROPERLY BUILT ENGINE. KIA HAS SOME SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE IN THIS CAR AND SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE ENTIRE LINE OF 2013 SORENTO'S AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER THAT " WE MAY BE LOOKING AT A NEW ENGINE". I HOPE NOT, EVEN THOUGH I COULD HAVE A ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH NO MILEAGE I DON'T WANT ONE, IF THE FIRST ENGINE HAS THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM WHAT WOULD THE SECOND ENGINE HAVE. I AM GOING TO DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO HOLD KIA RESPONSIBLE AND MAKE THEM COVER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
SUN ROOF IS ACTUALLY BUCKLING. WITH THE INFORMATION LISTED ABOUT THE SUNROOF RECALL WE ARE NERVOUS THIS MIGHT IMPACT THIS. I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AND AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND BACK TO THE ON POSITION IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THIS "GLITCH" HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE WEEK. FIRST, DRIVING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AT ABOUT 15-20 MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO BRAKE ITSELF FOR ABOUT A SECOND, LUNGED ME FORWARD AND 30 SECONDS LATER DIED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CAR RESTARTED FINE AFTER 3RD TRY. THEN AGAIN I HAD LET GO OF THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS CRUISING BEFORE BRAKING AT A LIGHT, THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH BUT HARDER AND A LOUD CLUNK CAME FROM IT. EVEN THE TIRES SCREECHED WHEN IT "BRAKED" ITSELF FOR A SECOND. THIS SECOND TIME THE CAR DIED 2 SECONDS LATER WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER, THE CAR DIED AGAIN IN FRONT OF THEM WHEN THEY SWITCHED ON THE A/C TO CHECK IF IT WAS WORKING (COULD BE COINCIDENCE SINCE I WASN'T FOOLING AROUND WITH THE A/C THE FIRST TWO TIMES). THEY CALLED ME BACK ON SECOND DAY AND ASKED ME TO TAKE MY CAR BACK SINCE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER HADN'T REGISTERED IT. I'VE USED IT EXCLUSIVELY ON HIGHWAYS FOR 2 DAYS NOW AND NO PROBLEM. I'VE DONE LESS THAN 10 MILES OF CITY DRIVING SINCE I GOT MY CAR BACK. I'VE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE GETTING AN UPGRADE FOR THE ECU AND SOLVING THE ISSUE, BUT THAT UPGRADE WAS ALREADY APPLIED OVER A YEAR AGO TO MINE AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THERE IS NO NEWER VERSION. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON I-20 AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) AND GLASS STARTED FLYING OF THE ROOF OF MY SORENTO. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY NAVIGATE TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE AND REALIZED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE INNER PANEL WAS CLOSED AND ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLASS CAME THROUGH. UNTIL THEN (AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS), I HAD NEVER HEARD OF A SUNROOF SHATTERING UNLESS THE VEHICLE WAS IN SOME KIND OF ACCIDENT. *TR
