UPON NOTICING A HEADLIGHT OUT AND THE CAR PARKED AND OFF IN MY DRIVEWAY, I WENT TO CHANGE THE BULB AND NOTED THAT THE WIRE TO THE LAMP HAD MELTED AND STARTED TO MELT THE LAMP ITSELF. I HAD THE OTHER HEADLIGHT ON THIS SAME CAR DO THE SAME THING. THE FIRST TIME THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE HEADLIGHT COVERS MELTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE, BUT DETERMINED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
CAR AT 72,000 MILES. AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES CONSTANTLY. DEALER INDICATES PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR. ODDLY, THE OTHER LIGHT ABOVE THE CONSOLE THAT INDICATES PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF CORRECTLY SHOWN OFF WHEN NO ONE IS SEATED IN PASSENGER SEAT, AND ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS SEATED. RESEARCH FROM VARIOUS ONLINE SOURCES IS INCONCLUSIVE IF THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT GIVEN THE CURRENT ERROR CODES OF B1674 AND B1767. EXPENSE TO REPAIR IS EXCESSIVE, IN MY OPINION, AT A COST OF $1,800 FOR THE PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR (ROUGHLY 1/5 THE VALUE OF THE CAR).
HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS NEED TO BE REPLACED REGULARLY. MOST RECENTLY THE HEADLIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF. WHEN GOING TO REPLACE THE BULB THE LIGHT HARNESS AND BULB WERE MELTED TOGETHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, BLACK SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE MUFFLER THAT EMITTED THROUGH THE VENTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND CALLED AN UNKNOWN LOCAL KIA DEALER LOCATED IN SALEM, OR WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE DID NOT CHANGE THE OIL WHEN NEEDED; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS 73,000 MILES AND KEPT WELL MAINTAINED. ONE DAY THE CAR WOULDN'T START. ENGINE KEPT TURNING OVER AND OVER. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED BUT IT WOULD SHAKE, VIBRATE, AND HESITATE WHILE DRIVING. MY MECHANIC SAID THE PROBLEM IS HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND IT IS NOT COVER AFTER 60,000 MILES WARRANTY AND THE PART WILL COST OVER $850 WITHOUT THE LABOR. I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PUMP SYSTEM WITH A CAR THAT HAS UNDER 100,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS DEFECT DESIGN FROM KIA AND THEY WILL NOT COVER FOR IT. *TR
BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW, HAVE HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO. IT STARTED BURNING OIL AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD NOT MAINTAINED PROPERLY AND THAT REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. CAR HAS 71000 MILES, OWNERS MANUAL SAYS TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 7500 MILES OR 12 MONTHS, WE HAVE RECORDS FOR 8 OIL CHANGES, KIA SAYS WE NEED TO SHOW 14, THAT WOULD BE AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 5000 MILES WHICH IS NOT WHAT MANUAL SAYS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ENGINE IN ANOTHER KIA VEHICLE, BUT NOT FOR THIS ONE. MANY COMPLAINTS FOR OIL RELATED ISSUES ON THIS CAR FOR 2011-2014. WE HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS CENTER. WE ARE STILL DRIVING VEHICLE, BUT CHECK OIL BEFORE WE GO ANYWHERE. DEALER WANTS US TO PAY $350-$400 TO COMPLETELY TEAR DOWN ENGINE TO TAKE PICTURES TO SEE IF KIA WILL COVER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THE ELECTRICAL WIRE TO THE LIGHTS BURNED AS WELL AS THE CONNECTOR THE BATTERY WILL NOT STAY CHARGED NOTHING IS ON AT THE TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. THE DOORS RANDOMLY LOCK BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE AND THERE'S A SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS IT A HAZARD TO DRIVE
THE ENGINE SEIZED AND IS NOT WORKING. MY CAR WAS SMOKING BLACK AND WHITE EVERY TIME WE TURN ON THE CAR. KIA IN SALEM OREGON REVISED THE CAR AND SAID THAT "EVERYTHING WAS FINE" "RUNS PERFECT" . THE CAR CONTINUED TO SMOKE AND SMELLED BAD. THEY SAID THAT IS MY FAULT FOR NOT MAKING OIL CHANGES ON TIME. I DID SOME, MISSED ONE OR TWO. KIA REFUSE TO REPAIR MY CAR. KIA DOES NOT ANSWER MY PHONE CALL. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN MY GARAGE FOR 6 MOTH.
WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE IT MAKES THIS BARING GRIND NOISE EVEN WHEN I AM GOING INTO REVERSE. IT CONTINUES TO MAKE THIS NOISE AS I AM DRIVING. ALSO SOMETIMES IT WILL STOP BUT THEN START AGAIN WHEN I MAKE A TURN AND CONTINUE MAKING THE GRIND OR BARING NOISE. ALSO IF I AM AT A STOP LIGHT AND I PRESS THE GAS PADDLE IT MAKES THIS GRIND NOISE. WHEN I LOOKED UP RECALL FOR THIS I HAD FOUND EXACTLY WHAT IT COULD BE AND MY VIN NUMBER SAID IT WASNT FOR RECALL. ALSO. I NOTICED WHEN I WOULD PUT MY PARK IN THE PARK GEAR POSITION IT WONT SOMETIMES LOCK ALL THE WAY. AS I HAD READ ALSO FOR MY CAR. IT DEPENDS ON THE WEATHER HOW LOUD IT MAKES THE NOISE . WHEN IT'S HOT ITS LOUD THEN COLD ITS OFF AND ON. THIS HAPPENS ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. MY DATE OF HAPPENING IS AN EDUCATIONAL GUESS. I KNOW IT WAS ALREADY HAPPENING WHEN I GOT A RECALL FOR THE OIL PANEL THING AND SOMETHING ELSE.
I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AIRBAG LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON. THEY SAID IT WILL TAKE OVER $2100 TO FIX. AIRBAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY DUE TO THIS DEFECT.
REAR SEAT LATCH BROKE IN RECLINED POSITION ,HAS BEEN HARD TO OPERATE SINCE PURCHASED.IN DRIVEWAY WHEN INCIDENT OCCURED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR AND TWO OTHER WARNING INDICATORS RANDOMLY FLASHED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE THAT OCCURRED RANDOMLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TWO REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY FAILURE. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A DAY AND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE AND THERE WERE SEVERAL TSB ALERTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT PROVIDED A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,178.
DRIVING DOWN I-20 WEST (1.5 MILES FROM I-45 SOUTH EXIT) AT 70MPH ON A CLEAR DAY, ON OPEN ROAD WITH MINIMAL TRAFFIC (NO OVERPASSES, NO VEHICLES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME, ETC.). MY CHILDREN AND I HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND I LOOKED IN MY REVIEW MIRROR TO SEE GLASS POURING OFF OF MY BACK WINDOW. MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE & RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD "DO NOT MAKE REPAIRS UNTIL YOU ARE CONTACTED BY A REPRESENTATIVE". I RECEIVED A MSG FROM MY "CASE WORKER" AND HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RETURN HER CALL EVERY DAY BY LEAVING MESSAGES AND CALLING MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. I EVEN CALLED 15 TIMES IN ONE DAY (EVERY 20-30 MINS) WITH NO ANSWERED CALLS AND NO RETURNED CALLS. *TR
I HAVE A 2013 KIA SORENTO WITH PAINT ISSUES. THE PAINT STARTED CHIPPING AFTER A FEW YEARS, NOT FADING BUT CHIPPING OFF. THE AREAS AFFECTED ARE THE FRONT DOOR PANELS, HOOD AND ROOF. MY DAUGHTER HAS A NEWER KIA SORENTO AND THE PAINT ON HER VEHICLE IS CHIPPING IN THE SAME AREAS.
I WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE GASOLINE PEDAL WOULD NOT WORK. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER A FEW LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THEN THE ENTIRE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I COASTED TO THE CURB IN A NO PARKING ZONE. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR BUT IT WOULD NOT "TURN OVER." APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES LATER THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE WHEN EVERYTHING HAPPENED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AGAIN. I CALLED THE KIA ROADSIDE ASSIST AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM AWAITING AN ANSWER FROM THE DEALERSHIP. MY WIFE ALSO WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 2 TIMES IN THE PAST AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOW DOWN IN A FAST MANNER BY ABOUT 20 MPH. SHE COULD THEN SPEED UP AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND AN ANSWER FOR THAT PROBLEM.
THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON IN SEPT 2016. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR THAT HAD GONE BAD. THEY STATED THAT IT COULD KEEP THE PASSENGER AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING OR CAUSE IT TO DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT I COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO CAUSE THE SENSOR TO GO BAD INSIDE THE SEAT! THE PART W/ LABOR COST OVER $1500 TO REPLACE. NOW 5 MONTHS LATE (FEB 2017) I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN.
SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT JUST SHATTERED, PERFECT DRIVING CONDITIONS, NO DEBRIS, NO ACCIDENT, DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY OTHER VEHICLES AROUND OR BRIDGES. ROAD WAS FLAT, EVEN AND NO DEBRIS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A KNOCKING NOISE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS METAL SHAVINGS IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 2016, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IN OUR 2013 KIA SORENTO WITH OUR TWO TODDLERS WHEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. HE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH DRIVING STRAIGHT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. WE LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING POWER STEERING SO IT TOOK ALL HE HAD TO COAST AND PULL OVER SAFELY. HE CALLED KIA WHO GOT A TOW TRUCK EN ROUTE TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO OUR DEALERSHIP. MY DAD HAD TO COME BY TO PICK UP MY FRIGHTENED GIRLS WHILE MY HUSBAND WAITED WITH THE VEHICLE (IT TOOK TWO HOURS). WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR ISSUES BEFORE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND FAITHFULLY HAD IT MAINTAINED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT GAVE US NEWS WE WERE NOT EXPECTING; THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AS WE BROKE A CRANKSHAFT. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT!! LUCKILY THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THEY VERIFIED THAT IT WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED BY THEM. FAST FORWARD A WEEK AND WE GET THE CALL TONIGHT THAT KIA HAS YET TO RELEASE A NEW ENGINE TO BE INSTALLED AND THEY HAVE NO TIME FRAME.
REAR SEAT LATCH MALFUNCTION. THE SEAT IS STUCK IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE LATCH DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. VERY INCONVENIENT WHEN THE WHOLE FAMILY IS IN THE CAR. KIDS FORCED TO ENTER AND EXIT THROUGH TRUNK. ANNOYING!! APPOINTMENT AT DEALERSHIP NEXT WEEK. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE CLEARLY ITS A DESIGN FLAW.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY AT 55MPH THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN LEAVING ME WITHOUT POWER, THE BATTERY LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT, NOT ONLY DID I NOT HAVE POWER TO THE ENGINE I DIDN'T HAVE POWER STEERING FOR THE VEHICLE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR ONLY TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS WAS THE SCAREST MOMENT FOR ME ALONE ON THE SIDE OF THE PARKWY WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND TRAFFIC FLYING PAST US. MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IT IS THREE DAYS LATER AND THE CAR IS STILL NOT STARTING AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHY. MY CAR ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES.
DURING ACCELERATION THE ENGINE RATTLES AND JERKS LOSING POWER UNTIL I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. ENGINE IS ATTEMPTING TO STALL.
THE SECOND ROW SEAT WILL NOT RELEASE.
WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREET TO STOP SIGH, ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. ATTEMPT TO JUMPER DID NOT WORK.THIS WAS SECOND INCIDENCE OF THIS PROBLEM FIRST TIME ALTERNATOR REPLACED AND ENGINE THEN WORKED,FOR 2 WEEKS. CAR IS NOW AT KIA DEALER FOR EVALUATION. I S PROBLEM METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL CAUSING ENGINE TO FAIL ? COULD THIS BE SAME PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI ENGINES THAT WERE RECALLED. SAME ENGINE ,SAME PLANT, SAME TIME FRAME. . .
CAR STOPPED DEAD IN ROAD WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREET.TAKEN TO KIA DEAL WHO REFUSED TO EVEN CONSIDER MANUFACTURING DEFAULT. UPON EXAMINATION DETERMINED THERE WAS METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL WHICH CAUSED ENGINE TO SEIZE. TO REPLACE ENGINE THEY WANT TO CHARGE $6800 FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR HYUNDAI ENGINES PROMPTING A RECALL OF OVER 600,000. SAME ENGINE IS USED IN THIS KIA WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN RECALL ON KIA'S WITH THIS ENINE?
PASSENGER SIDE 2ND ROW SEAT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FOLD DOWN SINCE THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT. NOW IT IS STUCK AND WILL NOT FOLD DOWN AT ALL. THE LATCH SEEMS TO BE BROKEN. MY KIDS WERE STUCK IN THE 3RD ROW SEAT UNTIL I COULD REMOVE MY BABY'S CAR SEAT BASE TO LAY DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE 2ND ROW TO LET THEM CLIMB OUT. HAD I BEEN IN A HURRY TO GET THEM OUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO.
2013 SORENTO STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A LOOSE FAN BELT. THEN WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC AND APPROACHING A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT, SUV STALLED. WAS ABLE TO START SUV AGAIN AND CONTINUED HOME WITH THE ENGINE MAKING A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. ROADSIDE ASST TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID THE ENGINE FAILED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THEY ALSO SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS BEEN ON THE DEALERS LOT FOR EIGHT MONTHS BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE ENGINE..
I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW OFF THE LOT BACK IN 2013, THE STEREO STOPPED WORKING IN 2016. I HAD ALL THE FUSES CHECKED AND THEY'RE ALL GOOD, SPEAKERS ARE FINE. THEY SAID THE WHOLE STEREO NEEDS TO REPLACED AND QUOTED ME OVER $500 TO REPLACE IT. ONLY THREE YEARS INTO OWNING MY NEW CAR. IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST STOPPED. THE LIGHT COME ON AND THE CONTROLS WORK BUT THEY SAID IT'S NOT CONNECTING TO THE CAR.

THE DIAGNOSIS SAID CODE B1764 WHICH IS A PASSENGER OCS MAT DEF ECT AND WANTS TO CHARGE ME 2100.00 TO FIX. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND I AM OVER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. I DO MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING ALONE IN THE VEHICLE AND ONLY 5% OF THE TIME SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS TO ME SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF MY KIA. FROM WHAT I AM SEEING ON NHTSA WEB SITE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE AND THAT THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL HAD BEEN DEPOSITED INTO THE VEHICLE RECENTLY BEFORE THE STALL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
IN LATE JUNE MY ENGINE STARTED S KNOCKING NOISE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I TRIED TURNING IT ON AND THE ENGINE JUST KEPT MAKING THE KNOCKING NOISE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND HE LET ME KNOW THAT MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN SEPTEMBER, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM KIA DATED AUGUST 29,2016, STATING THAT THEY WERE EXTENDING MY WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE EXACT ISSUE I HAD WITH MY ENGINE IN JUNE. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR MY VEHCLE TO BE FIXED, BUT IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT.
BOUGHT MY KIA ON 6/17/2016 AND TODAY 3 DAYS LATER I AM DRIVING THE CAR AND IT STARTS POWERING DOWN WHILE I AM AT 70MPH. SCARY TO SAY THE LEAST. THERE IS ALSO A JERKING FORWARD MOVEMENT THAT I GET, BUT TODAY WAS THE SCARIEST, THE CAR ACTUALLY STOPPED WITH NO POWER WHILE DRIVING. I HAD TO PULL ASIDE AND RESTART THE CAR. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS. M DAUGHTER COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR. THIS IS CRAZY A 2013 CAR SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE ON THE ROAD. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAT 67,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT AXLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS BAD. I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE 2014 VERSION HAS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY REASON. WE ALSO HAVE ISSUES WHERE THE "GAS FULL" SENSOR CLICKS REPEATEDLY WHEN PUMPING THE GAS, EVEN AFTER JUST STARTING TO FILL A TANK LESS THAN 1/4 OF THE WAY FULL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

THE LEVER TO FOLD DOWN THE SECOND ROW SEAT HAS GOTTEN STUCK SINCE I GOT THE CAR. IT WAS SO HARD TO OPERATE SOMETIMES THAT NO MATTER HOW MUCH FORCE YOU USE THE SEAT BACK LEVER WILL NOT RELEASE. THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THE GEAR THAT HOLDS THE SEAT IN PLACE IS NOT WORKING. THEY SAY MANY KIA SORRENTOS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW THE SEAT IS IN THE DOWN POSITION AND I CAN NOT GET IT BACK UP. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT WILL COST $350 TO HAVE THE LEVER REPLACED EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NEVER WORKED. THE MIDDLE SAFTEY BELT HAS NEVER WORKED EITHER. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY IT IS FIXED. WHEN I GET HOME IT DOESN'T WORK.
THE SECOND ROW SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO FOLD DOWN, USE A LATCH TO LET THE 3RD ROW PASSENGERS IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE , IS NOT WORKING LEVEL IS LOOSE FEELS LIKE IT IS NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING AND THE SEAT IS STUCK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. PASSENGERS IN THE 3RD ROW HAVE TO HOOP OUT THE BACK HATCH DOOR.

FIRST FEW TIMES THIS HAPPENED, I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED BUT IT WOULD SHAKE, VIBRATE, AND HESITATE WHILE DRIVING. EVENTUALLY, I WENT TO START THE CAR FROM PARK AND IT WOULDN'T START. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED BY JUMPING IT, BUT THE VIBRATIONS, SHAKING, AND HESITATION CONTINUED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM OF WERE THE RESULT OF LOW FUEL DUE TO A FAILURE WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED (I.E. 65 MPH TO 20 MPH) AND SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN POWER, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. CAR HAS 71,000 MILES ON IT. ALL ROUTINE SERVICES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED ROUTINELY AS SPECIFIED.

THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL DRIPPING UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE WAS HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I PURCHASED MY KIA NEW IN 2012. PERFORMED REGULAR MAINTENANCE. IT SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND SMOKE POURED FROM THE ENGINE. THE DEALER SAID THE BLOCK WAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES AND THERE WAS CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT HAS JUST OVER 100,000 MILES. I HAVE A VAN THAT HAS 270,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. WHEN I FOUND A GARAGE TO REPLACE IT FOR $1,000 LESS, THAT MECHANIC TOLD ME HE JUST REPLACED AN ENGINE IN A 2013 KIA SORENTO THAT ONLY HAD 30K MILES ON IT. KIA DENIED THEIR WARRANTY. I BELIEVE KIA IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. I HOPE I CAN GET THIS TRADED IN BEFORE THIS USED ENGINE DOES THE SAME THING. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER KIA.

The contact inspected underneath the hood and saw there were flames coming from the engine compartment before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. Police and fire department reports were filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) however, the contact had not yet received notification. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
