When I first bought my Kia Sorento my car died on me in 2013 in the middle of the freeway while I was pregnant. The car completely shutoff on the freeway. I was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. I took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. Two years later, the engine shut off on me again, this time with my child, husband and mother in the car, I again was pregnant at this time. I took it to the dealership again, and they were unable to find any codes on it. 5 years later, my vehicle died on me three times in one weekend. Again, with my two children and husband in the car. It has now been at a shop for over a week, and they have not been able to find any codes. My safety and my families safety at all times was put at high risk due to majority of the instances of my Kia Sorento engine shutting off was on the free way. No warning lights appear on the dash before the vehicle shuts off and once the vehicle turns on, there are no warning lights that appear/stay on.
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving the vehicle at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the roadway and would be able to restart the vehicle a few minutes after failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the Vin was not under recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was referred to a local dealer for further assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into PARK, the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact was unaware if there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that she received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V626000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer but no repairs were performed on the vehicle. The contact also stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began to rattle with several unknown warning lights on the instrument panel. Upon inspection, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V224000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
Abs break
When attempting to open the driver's side passenger door, the door handle came completely off the car. I therefore could not get my grandchild out of the car from that side and had to crawl over through the passenger side rear door to get her out. Apparently, this is a common problem because when I called a repair shop to ask what it would cost to replace, they told me they do these all the time and yes, it's a common problem. Found many complaints on line also. This is a dangerous situation. If there was an emergency to get someone out of a car on that side quickly you could not do it. Very disappointed in this cheap plastic handle.
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact stated that on one occasion while driving 55 mph, she heard an abnormal sound prior to the vehicle stalling. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was parked on the side of the road. The contact then towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V224000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
On May 5, 2021 our Sorento started smoking/steaming so we had it towed to our Kia service center who told us we needed a new engine due to bolts being stripped and warping the cylinder head. The vehicle is currently at our local mechanic and can be made available for inspections. I believe the engine could have done a lot more damage to us and others around if the engine had caused the vehicle to seize and cause an accident. The vehicle has only been seen by the Kia service center and my local mechanic. No other personnel has inspected the vehicle. The vehicle started to overheat about a week or two prior to the final incident. We took it to a mechanic (not my local mechanic) stating the vehicle was overheating, though they were unable to recreate the overheating. It is unknown why they couldn't replicate the issue.
Vehicle’s headlights keep burning out, right after replacing them. The headlight wires and bulb connectors keeps melting, causing a potential for fire. I had to replace the headlight wires and connectors 4 times due to this issue. This is a major safety issue and Kia needs to fix this ASAP. Thanks
Paint delimitation rapidly along top of windshield allowing rust. Safety concern with water damage. No reports to dealer.
Kia sorento pearl white paint peeling off the car leading to rust and corrosion. Started around May of 2021 at about 120000 miles has continued to progress around the vehicle.
I was sitting in my car before work as I always do. It was running but it was parked. All of a sudden I hear a huge bang that sounds like a shotgun blast. I jump and duck thinking someone is shooting a gun at my car. I then see little shards of glass all over my windshield. I exit my vehicle and see that my sunroof is completely shattered. In the pictures it’s clear it wasn’t from a point of impact (nothing hit my car). Luckily my shield was pulled so no glass got on me and I wasn’t driving. This could have caused me to crash with how loud the boom was. I see online that there’s been several instances of this happening with no recall.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SON WAS DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED AND REMAINED AT THE DEALER, AWAITING APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO AUTHORIZE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
Since I purchased my 2013 KIA SORENTO I have had at least 3 recalls. My vehicle AIR BAG LIGHT is still ON. I have been waiting since last year (2023)to get this recall item repaired and the local dealership has informed me that the part is on ORDER but never received( I have the work order from dealership stating that).. My Anti- thief system won't allow my vehicle to start upon demand I have to wait and turn the key over and let panel lights come on before it starts I have to do this 3x always. I've tried different approach's to rectify this issue, still dealing with it today( March 1, 2024). My speed control sensors had too be replaced. ABS lights would come on and stay illuminated. A lot is going on with my KIA SORENTO. I really enjoy my vehicle until all these recalls started. Now, I'm afraid to drive it as much, due too this FIRE RECALL!!!!!! I have documentation of these recalls.
I have emailed Kia three times now with no response. My paint is chipping off my car, and would like it fixed, being that it was a paint recall!!!!
THERE IS SOME KIND OF FLUID LEAK, POSSIBLY OIL, IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DID HAVE VEHICLE CHECKED IN 2020 FOR A RECALL BUT THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT THE LEAK. NOW THE LEAK IS CAUSING ENGINE TO SMOKE AFTER BEING DRIVEN. I KNOW THERE IS AN ENGINE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE BUT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP CHOSE NOT TO ADDRESS IT ON MY LAST VISIT. I NOW HAVE LEFT A MESSAGE TO GET VEHICLE CHECKED AGAIN AND NO ONE HAS CALLED BACK. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH RYAN IN CALIFORNIA AND HE SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. SHOULD MY VEHICLE BE CHECKED UNDER SC200? MY VEHICLE HAS ALL THE SYMPTOMS THAT FALL UNDER THAT RECALL. I AM GREATLY CONCERNED ABOUT ENGINE FIRE/FAILURE.
The Sorento truck start off by self went I drive more the hour went I brake the truck sout off .
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V750000 (Engine). The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer for the recall repair however, due to severe rust to the subframe, the dealer declined to provide the service. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle would be repurchased at wholesale value. The failure mileage was approximately 235,000.
I continuously am having issues with several light bulbs going out in my vehicle. I have replaced them several times. The headlights, running lights, turning signal bulbs, brake lights, etc. Lights are obviously a very important part of driving, especially at night. I have read complaints from several other Kia owners having the same issue. I am unsure of when the issues started occurring as I purchased the vehicle from the first owner in march or april 2021 and I noticed the issues within a few day of purchasing the vehicle. The vehicle does not have any other issues or warning lights. The light have yet to be inspected.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE WHEN AN ABNORMAL NOISE APPEARED AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT UNDRIVEABLE. CENTURY KIA OF TAMPA (4340 W. HILLSBOROUGH AVE, TAMPA, FL 33614 (844) 757-2536) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH. IT DID THIS ONCE BEFORE LAST WEEK AND IT FINALLY LATCHED. LAST NIGHT I COULD.NOT GET THE RED BOTTOM TO COME BACK UP SO THAT IT WOULD LATCH. WE WHERE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT IN SITTING STILL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK NOTH TIMES.
My 2013 Ex Sorento when idling with the A/C on, “Pants” or “pulse” struggling to idle. BUT…. If I turn OFF the A/C the RPM “Smooths out” and is consistent in idling. This began about 2019 March. Current miles: 56,000 and current On maintenance, inspections and oil changes. (Two drivers only) Will there be a recall for this?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE BEARINGS WERE WORN, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY CAR WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE WHOLE THING JUST CUT OUT. I'VE NEVER HAD A A PROBLEM WITH IT. AND I HAD TO GET IT TOWED JUST TO BE TOLD I NEED A NEW ENGINE.
PEELING PAINT, ENTIRELY DOWN TO BASE ON HOOD AND NEXT TO WINDSHIELD BOTH SIDES.
2/26/21 ENGINE FAILURE CYLINDER 4 LOSS OF COMPRESSION POSSIBLY DUE TO DEBRI IN THE ENGINE DURING ASSEMBLY. P0304 CODE MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 4. I HAVE CALLED OTHER KIA DEALERSHIPS TO ASK IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME YES. JOHNSTOWN PA, TEAM KIA WHERE I WAS TOWED TO INFORMED ME OF THE SAME ISSUE INVOLVING CYLINDER 4. I WAS DRIVING TO PITTSBURGH, PA ON THE PA TP ABSOLUTELY LOSS POWER CLIMBING THE MOUNTAIN. I WAS GOING APPROX 70 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE WITH CARS AND TRACTOR TRAILERS BEHIND ME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE RIGHT SIDE TO PULL OVER AND CHECK OUT THE CODES. I ALWAYS CARRY A ENGINE CODE READER IN MY CAR. I HAD RESEARCHED THE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE 2.4 LITER ENGINE ASSOCIATED WITH DEBRI IN THE ENGINE. I FEEL THIS FAILURE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT. I HAVE DONE MY MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE SINCE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT IN 8/2012. I HAVE ALL REPAIR AND RECALL RECORDS ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE, I HAVE DONE ALL THE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH MY SUV. I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES, TRANSMISSION & FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL CHANGES. I HAVE USED BG-44 PRODUCTS TO KEEP MY ENGINE VALVES CLEAN AND CLEAR OF ANY DEPOSITS. I HAVE USED SUPER UNLEADED TO CLEAN THE FUEL SYSTEM, AT EVERY OIL CHANGE I PULL THE THROTTLE BODY OFF AND CLEAN IT THOROUGHLY. THERE IS NO WAY THAT EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS FAILURE WITH CYLINDER 4. I DO BELIEVE THERE IS A BREAKDOWN IN WORKMANSHIP WITH THIS ENGINE. I AM HAVING MY MECHANIC TEAR IT APART AND CHECK TO SEE IF THE CYLINDER WALL IS SCORED FROM DEBRI AT THE TIME OF ASSEMBLY AND PUSH THIS BACK ON KIA FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE ENGINE. I WILL UPDATE THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT AS I FIND OUT FROM MY MECHANIC.
MY 2013 SORENTO STALLS RANDOMLY FOR NO REASON FOR ABOUT HALF SECOND LIKE ENGINE SKIPPING POWER FOR A MICRO MOMENT AND THAN KEEPS RUNNING. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST 3-4 TIME A WEEK BUT THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL ON MY VIN. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH 60 MILES/HOUR AND IT STALLED AND RPM NEEDLE WENT TO 0 BUT CAR KEEPS RUNNING. I TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY STARTED INVESTINGATING. THERE IS NOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ERROR CODE. DEALER DUPLICATED PROBLEM ONCE BUT THEN NOTHING. THEY OPENED TECHNICAL CASE WITH KIA WITH NO RESULT. THERE IS A PCM RECALL ON STALLING FOR PCM UPDATE FROM KIA BACK IN 2014 BUT MY VIN DOESN'T FALL UNDER IT SO THEY ARE NOT READY TO PERFORM ANY RECALL PROCESS ON IT. NO HELP FROM KIA AT ALL. FINALLY AFTER ALMOST 3 WEEKS I BROUGHT MY SORENTO BACK FROM DEALER SAYING "IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK AND WE WILL CHECK AGAIN". DEALER KEEPS CHARGING DIAGNOSTIC FEE EVERY TIME I GO. I THINK KIA DOESN'T FOR CUSTOMER SAFETY AND DON;T THINK WHAT HAPPENS IF VEHICLE STALLS AND STOPS ON HIGHWAY WHAT HAPPENS TO THE PEOPLE. THEY ARE PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES. I SEE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON VARIOUS FORUM FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT AGAIN SAME THING THEIR VIN DOESN'T FALL UNDER RECALL THOUGH IT IS A SAME PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2013 KIA Sorento. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and the speed decelerated to 55 mph unintendedly. The contact took it to the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the spark plugs, drive belts, and several other unknown parts. The contact stated that approximately 5 months after the repairs the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,332.
THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 FOR THE SPEED SENSOR ON THE REAR WHEELS. THE SENSORS FAILED REPEATEDLY AND KIA, ON THE RECALL JUST SPRAYED SILICONE ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. THE SENSORS CONTINUED TO FAIL AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CONTINUED TO STAY ON. AFTER THE SO CALLED RECALL FIX, I PAID $326.00 TWICE FOR THE LEFT REAR SENSOR, AND $326.00 FOR THE RIGHT REAR. HOWEVER, KIA IS NOT PLACING ANYTHING ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO FURTHER PREVENT THE FAILURE OF THE SENSORS. IN AUGUST 2020, I PAID KIA TO REPLACE THE SENSOR ON THE REAR AND DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL JANUARY 28, 2021. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS STAYED ON WHICH THE DEALER STATES THAT THE SENSOR WAS BAD. I EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE IT WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2020. AGAIN, I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED AS THE DEALER SAID. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, I ASKED FOR THE OLD PART, AND WAS TOLD THEY THREW IT AWAY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE TRASH TO FIND THE OLD PART. I CALLED KIA HEADQUARTERS TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN AND THEY COULD NOT TAKE MY COMPLAINT. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY KIA MONEY TO KEEP REPLACING THE SENSOR, OF WHICH I CANNOT ACCESS, AND THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE SPENT OVER $1200 SINCE THE RECALL WAS FIRST ISSUED ON THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX TO THIS. THESE WIRES ARE UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND EXPOSED TO WATER FROM RAIN ON THE STREETS AS YOU ARE DRIVING. WHY KIA DO NOT FIND A WAY TO COVER THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IS WHAT I THINK SHOULD BE DONE, AND NOT HAVE ME TO PAY $300 EVERYTIME IT FAILS. THE RECALL FIX IS NOT WORKING.
MY HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THEM ALL TWICE IN A YEAR. ON TOP OF THAT, EVERY TIME I'VE HAD TO CHANGE MY HEADLIGHTS, I'VE ALSO HAD TO CHANGE THE WIRING HARNESS THAT THE LIGHT GOES INTO. IT'S LIKE THE IT EXPLODES AND MELTS THE PIECE THAT THE LIGHT SNAPS INTO.
DRIVING HOME FROM 30 MILE TRIP AND ENGINE MADE A BIG TICKING NOISE THEN A BOOM. LOTS OF SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD AND COASTED TO STOP. ONLY HAS 107K MILES. NEVER HAD A CAR DO THIS BEFORE. GOT IT ANALYZE FROM GARAGE AND THERE IS A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. JENKINS KIA OF OCALA (2305 SW COLLEGE RD, OCALA, FL 34471, (352) 414-4553) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WAS DRIVING HOME ON ICY SNOW COVERED ROADS WITH THREE CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY PASSENGER LOW BEAM LIGHT WENT OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. ON TOO OF THE SNOW AND ICE MIXTURE I WAS ALSO TRAVELING THROUGH AN AREA OF CONSTRUCTION SO ALL THE STREET LIGHTS WERE OUT AND HAVING ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT MADE IT DIFFICULT AND SCARY TO NAVIGATE THE ROAD AND ALL THE CONSTRUCTION COMES. I DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON AND THE NEXT DAY IMMEDIATELY BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT BULB. WHICH WAS A WASTE OF MONEY.....BECAUSE THE BULB IS NOT THE ISSUE. BEING A SINGLE MOM OF 3 I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO BE WASTING AND NOW I'M NOT ONLY OUT THE MONEY FOR THE BULB BUT I STILL HAVE TO PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM MAKING IT UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND I CANNOT AFFORD A TICKET FOR DRIVING EVERYWHERE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. FROM READING ALL THESE COMPLAINTS IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED WHICH IS EXPENSIVE AND ALSO NOT SOMETHING I WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD ANYTIME SOON. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE LOVED IT UP UNTIL NOW. I WISH THAT KIA WOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURERS MISHAP.
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle was running rough. The contact thought she had bad fuel. The contact stated after restarting the vehicle, it seized. The engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V750000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who confirmed that parts were not available. The dealer diagnosed there was a loss of compression in cylinders #1 and #2. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and determined that the failure was due to the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
THE ENGINE HAS AN OIL LEAK AND NOW A CRACKED 4TH CYLINDER CAUSING A $638 BILL AT THE MECHANIC TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING AT BARE MINIMUM. THE ENGINE WAS A RECALL REPLACEMENT AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE PART OF THE 12/2/2020 RECALL. THIS IS CAUSING HARDSHIP FOR MY FAMILY.
I HAVE 112782 MILES ON THIS CAR. I GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND FOUND THAT HAD A CODE P200A.AN INTAKE MANIFOLD BANK #1 PROBLEM.AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS IT LOOKS LIKE A LONG ONGOING PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI AND KIA'S.4 CYLINDER AND 6 CYLINDERS ENGINES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY FLASHED. WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER KIA SPITZER LOCATED AT 3414 BROOKPARK RD, CLEVELAND, OH 44134 AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
THE COLOR OF THE CAR IS SNOW WHITE PEARL. AND OUT OF NOWHERE, THE PAINT STARTED TO PEEL OFF. FIRST, IT WAS ON THE HOOD, AND NOW THE A-PILLAR. THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS AND IT'S THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER'S PAINT. THE PAINT SHOP GUY TOLD ME IT'S JUST GOING TO GET WORTH WHEN PEELING STARTS.
MY ENGINE STARTED LEAKING FROM THE GASKETS. IN FURTHER REVIEWING THE ISSUE WAS THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE ENGINE WERE ALL LEAKING. THE ENGINE WAS TOTALED.
MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED IT ALMOST A DOZEN TIMES. BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE WENT OUT TWICE WITHIN A YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE OIL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BALD HILL KIA (1021 BALD HILL RD, WARWICK, RI 02886, (844)707-1516) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE REPAIR MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.*DT*JB
AT ROUGHLY 60,000 MILES WE STARTED NOTICING PAINT CHIPPING ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD ON OUR 2013 KIA SORENTO. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO PIECES OF PAINT 2 INCHES LONG FLAKED OFF THE PASSENGER POST BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND DOOR. I REPORTED THIS TO KIA AND THEY STATED REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED. I HAD AN ESTIMATE DONE AT A KIA DEALER THAT CAME BACK $2500.00 +.
ON DEC 31 2020 I REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHT BULBS DUE TO THE PASSENGER BULB BEING OUT. ON APPROXIMATELY JAN 20TH 2021, BULB WAS NOT ON (DRIVER'S SIDE WAS ON). PULLED BULB AND PUT IT BACK IN, MAKING SURE IT WAS SECURELY SEATED. TURNED ON LIGHTS, BULB CAME BACK ON. THE NEXT DAY, NOTICED BULB WAS OUT AGAIN (DRIVER'S SIDE STILL WORKING). BOUGHT A NEW BULB, REPLACED OTHER BULB WHICH IS LESS THAN 3 WEEKS OLD. ON APPROXIMATELY JAN 30TH, NOTICED BULB WAS OUT AGAIN (DRIVER'S SIDE STILL WORKING). VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR HAS THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BEEN REPLACED, ONLY THE BULB. ON JAN 31 I PULLED EXISTING BULB, SNAPPED BACK INTO PLACE, TURNED VEHICLE BACK ON. BULB WHICH APPEARED TO NOT BE WORKING, TURNED ON. PULLED BULB AND PUT IN THE PREVIOUS BULB (BOUGHT DEC 31 2020) BACK IN, SNAPPED IN PLACE, TURNED VEHICLE ON, AND BULB WORKED. THIS WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH EITHER THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY, OR THE "PIGTAIL" FOR THE LOW BEAM BULB.
MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR, EVEN THOUGH THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS SAID I NEED A NEW ENGINE. EVEN THOUGH MY ENGINE HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY DUE TO A CLASS ACTION SUIT, THE KIA DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT OPEN A CLAIM UNLESS MY ENGINE SEIZES UP, WHICH CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME, ANYWHERE. I TOLD THEM I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE ALLOWING THAT TO HAPPEN, AND THEY AGAIN SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, THAT KIA IS NO LONGER COVERING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AS OF NOV. 2020.
WHILE DRIVING, MY TRUCK STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE STALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED BLINKING, SHORTLY AFTER THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. I PARKED THE CAR IN A SAFE LOCATION TO CHECK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I NEEDED TO JUMP THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO TURN BACK ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL APPEARS BLINKING AS I DROVE IT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC READING . WHILE DRIVING THE CAR , LEAVING IDLE THE CAR WOULD JERK AND HAVE A HARD TIME MOVING BACK INTO MOTION. THE CODE READ P1236 KNOCK SENSOR FAULT/SENSOR BAD. MY CAR HAD JUST COME OUT OF KIA TWO WEEKS PRIOR IN FULL HEALTH. THIS ISSUE CAME OUT OF NO WHERE.
The contact owned a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, she saw smoke emerging from the hood and the dashboard. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact stated that the engine had caught on fire. There were no crash or injuries due to the fire. The air bags did not deploy. The fire department was contacted and was able to extinguish the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle towed to a impound lot. The contact had not notified a local dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20V750000 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and the contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 150,000.
in 2019 our car's engine was replaced due to a engine recall. The recall pertained to engines seizing, locking up, catching fire all due to excessive oil consumption and connecting rod bearings. In the fall of 2020, early 2021, we noticed that the newly replaced engine was using excessive oil. On one instance, the dash oil light came on after having oil changed and drove 200 miles. Checking dipstick, no oil was registering. We put 5 qts oil in car. We then took the car to the dealership. The dealership informed us to perform a factory certified oil change, do a diagnostic testing for 1000 miles, bring back to dealership for further evaluation. we reluctantly did this test as we were concerned that the engine would lock up, catch fire, leave us stranded. Upon returning to dealership, further testing showed excessive oil consumption of this newly replaced engine and that it needed to be replaced yet again.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH LOUD KNOCKING FROM ENGINE , THEN STOPPED. SHOP SAID THAT ENGINE HAD SEIZED UP
AT 123K MILES, MY ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOUNTAIN PASS. RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUES EXCEPT OIL LIGHT FLASHED ON THEN OFF. CHECKED THE OIL AND I HAD NO OIL, COMPLETELY DRY. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE TIMELY MAINTENANCE, HAVE HAULED A UHAUL ACROSS COUNTRY 5 YEARS AGO, NEVER BURNED OIL. HAD THE CAR CHECKED FOR OIL LEAKS AND THERE ARE NONE. RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM WITH BURNING G OIL AND ACROSS THE BOARD, REGARDLESS OF THE KIA YEAR, KIA'S CARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, YET NO RECALLS OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FEOM KIA THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. DEALERSHIPS ARE LYING TO OWNERS.
ON DECEMBER 18, 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (IN MOTION), WITHOUT WARNING, AN ENGINE FIRE ERUPTED IN THE VEHICLE. THE FLAMES WERE SO PRONOUNCED THAT ONLOOKERS CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED AND HAD NO KNOWN MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AT THAT POINT IN TIME.
PAINT IS PEELING OFF BONY. WHITE PEARL. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI AND KIA AUTOMOBILES AS THERE ARE PEOPLE ESTABLISHING CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ON THIS ISSUE.
