THE AIRBAG COVER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR IS STARTING TO CRACK AND LIFT,SEEMS LIKE PRESSURE IS CAUSING THE LIFT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT'S BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD IS OLD. COMPARED IT TO AN ES300, THE AIR BAG DEFINITELY HAS STARTED TO LIFT.
THE AIRBAG COVER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CRACKED AND LOOKS AS IF IT IS GOING TO POP. THIS COULD BE A HAZARD.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG APPEARS TO BECOMING DETACHED FROM THE DASH. IT SEEMS THAT IT MAY DEPLOY AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO ME AS MY FAMILY RIDES IN THE CAR WITH ME.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO PICK-UP OUR GRANDDAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL ON 10-22-2018. SHE MADE A FULL STOP AT THE CORNER AND TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND STARTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. WHEN SHE STARTED TO PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL LIGHTLY, THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO FULL THROTTLE AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND LUNGED UNCONTROLLABLY FORWARD. HER STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. BECAUSE OF THIS ACCELERATION, SHE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT WITH GREAT FORCE AND SEVERELY DAMAGING OUR FRONT END AND THE CAR BUMPER IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WAS GETTING GET IN LINE TO WAIT FOR THE SCHOOL CHILDREN TO LET OUT. HAD HER THE CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL WHEN CHILDREN WERE CROSSING THE STREET, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT CATASTROPHE AND DEAD CHILDREN. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO ALERT THE PUBLIC. ANOTHER SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. BUT THE DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. OUR CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 60,000. EACH TIME I TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THEY REMOVED THE FLOOR MAT. THEY SAY THE FLOOR MAT CAN GET IN THE WAY OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I DON'T THINK SO, BUT WE KEEP THE FLOOR MAT IN THE TRUNK. I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO A LEXUS HEADQUARTER IN TEXAS, (800) 255-3987. THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID A CASE MANAGER WILL BE CONTACTING ME. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THEY WILL DO. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO PREVENT RUNNING OVER PEOPLE. THERE WILL BE DEATHS IF NOTHING IS DONE!
I HAVE NOTICED THE AIR BAG COVER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS POPPING UP AND LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING TO EXPLODE
THE CAR WAS REVERSED AND DRIVEN FORWARD, SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD. APPLYING BRAKES WERE NOT HELPING AS ACCELERATION STILL CONTINUED. THERE IS NO FLOOR MAT ON THE DRIVER SEAT SIDE TO BLAME IT ON FOR GAS PEDAL GETTING STUCK TO THE MAT.. THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE ADJUSTED TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL FROM THE FLOOR. HAPPENED A WEEK AGO AND HAPPENED AGAIN ON 17/02/2018. FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS ON FOUR LANE CITY STREET. SECOND TIME ON TWO LANE CITY STREET. IT CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME ANY WHERE. I ASKED THE DEALER. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ON THE DAH BOARD IS CRACKED AND SLIGHTLY PROTRUDING I AM AFRAID THIS WILL EXPLODE WHILE TRAVELLING CHECKED WITH LEXUS THEY SAY IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALL - ANYONE HAD INFORMATION ON THIS WOULD APPRECIATE IT

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING THERE WAS A BULGE ALONG THE INNER LINING OF THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,838.

THE EDGES AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG CRACKING AND THE CONDITION KEEPS DETERIORATING AS TIME GOES BY. I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AS WE USE THE CAR ALL THE TIME. WE CONTACTED A LOCAL LEXUS DEALER AND WE TOLD THE SAME THING AS REST OF THE FOLKS EXPERIENCED WITH DEALERS.
SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ONLINE AND ON THIS SITE, MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS BULGING AND APPEARS TO BE PARTIALLY COMING OUT. PICTURE INCLUDED. I HAVE RAISED THIS TO MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP SERVICE ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, AND THEY DO NOT SEEM CONCERNED AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE ARE QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AIR BAG EITHER DEPLOYING WHEN IT SHOULD NOT, OR NOT DEPLOYED WHEN IT NEEDS TO. IT SEEMS TO BE FAILING. IT ALSO APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE OVER TIME.
TAKATA RECALL
ALL ALONG THE AIRBAG ON THE DASHBOARD; THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING ALL AROUND THE AIR BAG. THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO MY DASHBOARD AND EXCEPT WHERE THE AIRBAG WAS INSTALLED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. I AM TRYING TO MAKE PEOPLE AWEAR BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED.
THE AIRBAG COVER WHERE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE DASHBOARD HAS SEPARATED. THE SEPARATION BEGAN ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND THE GAP CONTINUES TO WIDEN. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE TAKATA RECALL AND AM UNSURE IF THE AIRBAG MAY INFLATE IF THE GAP CONTINUES TO OPEN.
TAKATA RECALL. MY AIRBAG HAS DEFECTS. I CALLED LEXUS AND THEY SAY IT IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL GROUP. BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN TRAVELING WITH PASSENGERS SPECIALLY MY CHILDREN. THIS THING IS BASICALLY READY TO BREAK OFF. THIS IS A SECURITY CONCERN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. A NUMBER OF WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TRANSMISSION WAS HESITANT AND SUDDENLY RELEASE CREATING A SUDDEN ACCELERATION RUSH WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS APPLIED AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DOWNSHIFT GEAR MODE AND WAS ASKED TO ACCELERATE UPSHIFT GEAR SUDDENLY. THE TRANSMISSION JERKING/HESITANT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY IN MERGING TRAFFIC. THIS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENT. TRANSMISSION ALSO HAS A ROUGH SHIFT FROM TIME TO TIME.
CAR WOULD NOT STOP AT ALL AT LOW SPEEDS, CRASH INTO BUILDING IN PARKING LOT DUE TO FAILURE
MY DASHBOARD HAS SEVERE CRACKS ALL AROUND THE AIRBAG. THAT IS THE ONLY AREA ON MY DASHBOARD WITH CRACKS. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY AIRBAG MAY EXPLODE AND INJURE ME OR MY PASSENGERS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED BY SERVICEMEN THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO LEXUS. SO, I CONTACTED THEM ON APRIL 27, 2015 AND AGAIN ON MAY 11, 2015 AND FILED 2 INCIDENT REPORTS TO NO AVAIL, THEY FINALLY CONTACTED ME ON MAY 14, 2015 TO INFORM ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. SO THAT IS WHY I'M FILING THIS VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AS MUCH AS THAT VEHICLE COST I SHOULD NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAG. I WANT MY VEHICLE DASHBOARD REPAIRED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS.
WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE ON A PRIVATE PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SPEED UP AND BRAKES DID NOT STOP IT. THE VEHICLE JUMPED A CURB AND CONTINUED UNTIL IT HIT TWO TREES THAT STOPPED IT. DAMAGE WAS ESTIMATED AT $9000. *TR

THE SEAL AROUND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAS DETERIORATED, WITH A BULGE FORMING IN THE DASHBOARD. *TR
THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW DOES NOT OPEN. NEITHER THE DRIVER'S NOR THE DOOR SWITCH WILL OPEN THE WINDOW. WHEN PUSHED THERE IS A CLICK BUT THE WINDOW DOESN'T OPEN.
MY 2006 LEXUS I250 DASH BROAD IS CRACKING AND STICKY AND SO WHEN I'M DRIVING IN THE SUN, IT CREATES A GLARE ON YOUR DASHBOARD. NEVER RECEIVE A RECALL. I DID GO TO A LOCAL LEXUS IN 2014 AND TOLD THEM THAT THIS CAR WASN'T LIKE THIS WENT I PURCHASED IT. WORKED IN AL (BALDWIN COUNTY) AND I NOTICE THAT MY LEXUS INTERIOR STARTED TO CRACK AND MELT DUE TO MY CAR BEING PARKED OUT IN THE SUN DURING MY WORKING HOURS. THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPEN TO A LEXUS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES330. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF APPLYING AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO CAUSE FOR FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,907.
DURING OIL CHANGE, MECHANIC NOTICES POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING. WORRIED THAT THIS IS SAFETY PROBLEM AND COULD LOSE STEERING IF SEALS BREAK. HAD RACK AND PINION REPLACED. COST OVER $1000. FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS COST. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY FOR APPROX. 1HR AND EXITED THE HIGHWAY TO A SIDE ROAD. AT THE FIRST LIGHT THE CAR WOULD START IN 1ST BUT NOT GO INTO 2ND AND AFTER 2/3 SECS IT WOULD LUNGE INTO GEAR. THE SAME HAPPENS WHEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE. IT SHAKES THE WHOLE CAR. AFTER RESEARCH THESE TRANSMISSIONS WERE RECALLED IN 04 AND 05 BUT NOT 06. LEXUS SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM BUT OUR FRIEND THE INTERNET SAYS SOMETHING ELSE. REPAIR COST 5800.00 FROM LEXUS AND NOT COVERED BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS. *TR
UPON ROUTINE INSPECTION AT DEALER, SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS IN IMMINENT DANGER OF FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOON. FAILURE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 LEXUS ES-330. A FEW YEARS BACK I NOTICED THE AIRBAG COVER ON THE PASSENGER DASH SEEMED TO BE SHRINKING. WHEN I WENT IN FOR SERVICE, I ASKED ABOUT THIS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOTHING. HOWEVER, THE COVER LOOKS SMALLER. I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS ADVISED, AFTER MUCH ARGUING, THAT THE DASHBOARD IS SHRINKING. MY CONCERN, OF COURSE, WAS THAT THE COVER WOULD LOOSEN, FALL OFF AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOY WHILE I AM DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN BUT I COULDN'T GET GUARANTEES. I PRESSED ON BUT WAS ADVISED THAT SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY ACCEPT NO LIABILITY. AFTER SOME ARGUING, THE MANAGER AGREED TO CONTACT THE LEXUS REP WHO, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, AGREED TO SHARE THE EXPENSE IN A TOTAL DASH REPLACEMENT. THE APPROXIMATE COST IS $2200 OF WHICH I SHOULD PAY 50% AND THEY WOULD ABSORB THE OTHER 50%. I DECLINED THEIR OFFER AND CONTINUED TO MAKE SOME NOISE. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED BY LEXUS CORPORATE THAT THE OFFER WAS FAIR AND I SHOULD ACCEPT. AGAIN, I ASKED ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THE REPRESENTATIVE COULDN'T ASSURE ME THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. SO WHY SHOULD I ACCEPT LIABILITY? REGARDLESS OF THE WARRANTY, A DASHBOARD IS NOT SUPPOSED TO SHRINK! NOR IS THE CAR MANUFACTURER SUPPOSED TO PUT THE LIABILITY ON ME. I'VE GONE ON CLUBLEXUS.COM FORUMS AND APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. I AM LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER, PLEASE. IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS, I AM LISTENING. THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE ALSO COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO FIND THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES 330. THE CONTACT SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE PILLAR IN THE PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING AFTER THE CRASH AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MODERATE INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES330. THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL BODY SHOP WHICH WAS PROVIDED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN ENGINEER TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE YET THE ENGINEER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND FEARED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,366.

CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAG LINING. THIS LOOKS LIKE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES330. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH, AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN ACCELERATION OCCURRED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TRAVEL OVER THE CURBSIDE AND CRASH INTO A HOUSE. THE DAMAGED EXTERIOR SIDING OF THE HOUSE EXPOSED AN ENORMOUS HOLE THE WIDTH OF THE VEHICLE WHICH EXTENDED THROUGH THE INTERIOR WALL. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT WITH NO PERSONAL INJURY. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGES. THE CAUSE OF FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
IN CITY TRAFFIC, ACCELERATION WITH MY 2006 ES330 IS NOT PREDICTABLE AND IT HESITATES RATHER THAN RESPONDING APPROPRIATELY AS THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. HAS ALSO HAPPENED AS I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. OCCURS SPORADICALLY AND IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. CAN GO WEEKS WITHOUT IT HAPPENING. NO ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS - YET. I HAVE TAKEN CAR BACK INTO LEXUS DEALERSHIP AND GOT A CANNED RESPONSE OF IT ADAPTING TO THE DRIVER PATTERNS AND IT IS RESPONDING THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO - BASICALLY TELLING ME THAT MY PROBLEM IS NOT A PROBLEM. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER LEXUS AND WILL PROBABLY GET RID OF THIS ONE MUCH SOONER THAN HOW I NORMALLY KEEP VEHICLES. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH MY LEXUS CAR SINCE I PURCHASED ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO. I COULD NEVER REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM HENCE DID NOT REPORT TO THE DEALER. LAST WEEKEND I CAME TO KNOW VIA NEWSPAPERS AND TV THAT SOME OF THE LEXUS CARS ARE HAVING A PROBLEM RELATED TO ENGINE STALLING. MY PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY THE SAME WITH THE LEXUS AND I HAVE NOTICE MORE THAN 35/40 TIMES BUT COULD NOT REPRODUCE WHEN I WANTED. I FELT AT TIMES THAT THE ENGINE STALLING MAY BE DUE TO IMPURITIES IN THE GAS BUT WAS NOT QUITE SURE ABOUT IT. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT EVENTHOUGH LEXUS HAS NOT RECALLED MY MODEL, I HAVE NOTICED ENGINE STALLING (WHILE IN MOTION) NUMEROUS TIMES. AT TIMES, I HAVE FELT THE CONDITION TO BE UNSAFE. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT AN INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MAY 14, 2010. AT AROUND 2:30PM, I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 LEXUS ES 330 TO A SHOPPING CENTER. THE CENTER IS LOCATED ON THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF 75 AND LEGACY DRIVE, IN PLANO, TEXAS. WHEN I ARRIVED TO THE CENTER, I FOUND THE NEAR-BY PARKING SPACES WERE ALL PACKED. SO I DECIDED TO PARK MY CAR AT FAR WEST CORNER OF THE PARKING LOT. I FOUND A SPOT THAT WAS NOT VERY OCCUPIED. WHEN I SLOWLY APPROACHED TO A PARKING SPACE, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PREPARED FOR THE FULL STOP. BUT INSTEAD OF EXPERIENCING A FULL STOP, I WAS PULLED FORWARD AT FULL SPEED AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS ON FULL ACCELERATION. THE CAR WENT UP THE CURB FOR A PLANT-BED/MEDIUM AND CLEARED A COUPLE OF BIG PLANTS. I TURNED THE WHEEL AS I STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FINALLY IT STOPPED AFTER WENT THROUGH THE PLANT-BED/MEDIUM. AFTER IT MADE A FULL STOP, FIRST THING I DID WAS CHECKING TO SEE IF MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. AND IT WAS. AFTER I CALMED MYSELF DOWN, I MENTALLY REVISITED THE INCIDENT. ONE FEELING STANDING OUT WAS THAT THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE I EXPERIENCED WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM MY STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. IN NORMAL DRIVING, THE ACCELERATING IS GRADUAL AS THERE IS A LAG BETWEEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE GAINING OF THE SPEED. IN THIS CASE, THE VEHICLE SIMPLY GARNERED SPEED AND 'RUNNING' THROUGH THE BUMP AND PLANT-BED/MEDIUM. I CALLED PARK PLACE LEXUS WHERE I DO ALL THE MAINTENANCE SERVICES. THEY ASKED ME TO BRING THE CAR IN. AN ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LEXUS RECORDED THE INCIDENT AND TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINEERS WOULD LOOK INTO THAT ON FOLLOWING MONDAY. ON MONDAY, I WAS ADVISED TO CALL 1-800-255-3987. I DESCRIBED THE INCIDENT TO A TOYOTA SUPPORT REPRESENTATIVE AND EXPRESSED MY WORRY AND CONCERN OF THE SAFETY OF DRIVING MY LEXUS. HE TOLD ME THEY WILL ESTABLISH A CASE FOR THE INCIDENT AND IT WILL TAKE ABOUT FOUR TO SIX WEEKS TO FINISH THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
THE DASH IS DISTORTING, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE AIR BAG LOCATION. FABRIC LINER HAS EXTENDED OUTSIDE THE LEATHER TRIM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES 330. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE OPENING RELEASE OF THE AIR BAG. THE DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE AWARE OF THE DEFECT YET IS WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LEXUS ES330. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OF 10 MPH DURING A RAIN STORM, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD, UNUSUAL POP AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR HAD SHATTERED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MIRROR AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH THE EXACT SAME AREA AS THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,200.
I PURCHASED A USED 2006 LEXUS ES330 IN FEBRUARY, 2009. UPON THE FIRST LONG RANGE HIGHWAY TRIP, JANUARY, 2010, I EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE "DRIFTING" EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. ON 12/23/09 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:46PM, MY MOTHER LOST CONTROL OF HER 2006 LEXUS ES300 IN THE PARKING LOT OF A STORE IN MIAMI, FL. THE CAR WENT UP ON A RAISED GRASS BED AND WAS STOPPED ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE ARMS OF A LARGE, METAL GATE. THE GATE REMOVED THE ENTIRE HOOD OF THE CAR AND SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD. MIRACULOUSLY, MY MOTHER WAS NOT HURT AND NO OTHER CARS OR PERSONS WERE INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT. MY MOTHER WAS TICKETED FOR "CARELESS" DRIVING, LOSS OF CONTROL. FROM THE MOMENT I ARRIVED ON THE SCENE, SHE DESCRIBED A FEELING OF NOT BEING IN CONTROL OF HER CAR - SHE SAID THAT IT WAS AS IF THE CAR WAS GOING WITHOUT HER! WE HAVE REPEATEDLY CHECKED WITH LEXUS, AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FOR HER MAKE, MODEL, YEAR IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES EFFECTED BY THE RECALL. HOWEVER, NOW THAT THE ELECTRONIC ISSUES ARE EMERGING IN THE PRESS - - WE CANNOT HELP BUT BELIEVE THAT HER ACCIDENT IS RELATED TO THE TOYOTA/LEXUS ACCELERATOR SYSTEM! ON MONDAY, 2/8/10, I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR HER TO BRING HER REPAIRED CAR (PICKING UP TODAY) TO LEXUS OF KENDALL ON US 1 IN MIAMI TO BE INSPECTED BY A SERVICE MANAGER THERE. I OWN A 2006 330 LEXUS. RECENTLY ON TWO SEPARATE TRIPS, I HAVE HAD AN INCIDENT RELATING TO THE CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD THE CAR SET ON THE SPEED LIMIT OF 75MPH (AN INTERSTATE) AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I WENT TO THE "RESUME SPEED" BUTTON, SUDDENLY THE CAR CHARGED FORWARD BEYOND WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY SET AND OF ITS OWN VOLITION, THE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.
