Dashboard and window seals are melting. Dashboard melting is causing a huge glare in windshield during the day. Window seals are melting onto my windows causing excessive scuffing on the windows affecting ability to see in my blind spots
My dashboard is turning into a liquid. Florida heat has effected this vehical since purchase. Currently my visability is through windshield is serverly affected. Since a large portion of the dash is liquid under a black dashboard it is reflecting onto my windshield serverly limiting my viewing the road and traffic. This is a known problem needing an immediate solution. Thank you for any immediate action you take on this matter.
The dashboard on my car is melting/shiny/sticky. I have tried many things to get it to stop reflecting on my windshield, but nothing helps. I contacted Lexus and this is an identified known concern for this vehicle and a bulletin has been issued, but the bulletin has expired. The reflection impairs visibility anytime the sun is out or lights at night reflect on the dashboard. I am concerned for my safety and my children’s safety in a vehicle that is known for reliability and longevity.
The contact owns a 2007 Lexus ES350. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH the dashboard was sticky with a glare and shiny. The contact stated the material caused visibility issues. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was repaired before for TSB: L-SB-0011-15 however the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, was not of assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
LEXUS ISSUED A TECH BULLETIN IN 2011 STATING THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DASHBOARDS MELTING AND THE GLARE FROM THE SUN WAS BLINDING DRIVERS. TOLD DEALERS TO REPLACE THEM WHEN ASKED. EXTENDED THE CAMPAIGN THRU 5/2017, BUT DID NOT INFORM CUSTOMERS. CAMPAIGN EXPIRED WITH A LOT OF DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS DASHBOARDS STILL OUT THERE. THE SMELL IS ALSO MAKING PEOPLE SICK. LEXUS WILL NOT REPLACE MY DASHBOARD.
TWO YEARS AGO I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD GETTING STICKY , AND NOW IT'S GETTING WORSE AND WORSE,BECAUSE WHEN THE SUN OR SHINE I CAN SEE WITH THE GLER..
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH VISIBILITY SINCE I HAVE A STICKY, CRACKED DASHBOARD, AND IT'S PEELING OFF BIT BY BIT. I HAVE CALLED LEXUS CORPORATE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET OR BUY A COVER WHICH QUITE FRANKLY IT LOOKS UGLY ON A LUXURY SEDAN. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I THOUGHT IT WAS A COSMETIC ISSUE, BUT IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE ESPECIALLY ON HOT WEATHER LIKE THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA. IT IS REALLY CONCERNING AS I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN WHEN THE SUN WAS GLARING OVER MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. I AM ACTUALLY TERRIFIED OF LEAVING MY HOME ON SUNNY DAYS AS I MIGHT GET IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE GLARE. FEW YEARS AGO, LEXUS OFFERED TO REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IT WASN'T A RECALL AND THE OWNER DIDN'T HAVE IT FIXED. BACK THEN THE CAR HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE DEALER (ESKRIDGE LEXUS OKC). THE GRACE PERIOD FOR THE REPLACEMENT IS OVER.THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND GOOD SERVICE RECORD. I HAVE NO PROOF OF WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY NEXT, BUT I FEAR THAT SINCE THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND CRACKED AND PEELING OFF, THE AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT PROPERLY DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT.
MY CAR HAS A MELTING DASH THAT LEAVES A STICKY RESIDUE ON MY WINDSHIELD AFFECTING MY ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD. IT ALSO CAUSES A GLARE WHEN DRIVING IN THE EARLY MORNING OR AT NIGHT WITH STREET LIGHTS.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THERE WAS A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM THAT EXPIRED IN 2017. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT TAKING MY CAR IN FOR A DASHBOARD REPLACEMENT. WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE THE GLARE IS SO INTENSE THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE I AM AFRAID OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOT ABLE TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARD. IT HAS SO MUCH DEBRIS ON IT THAT CAN'T BE REMOVED.
I HAVE A CURVED MIRROR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE AUTO. THE MIRROR IS DISTORTED. THE OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR. IT IS DANGEROUS AND MISLEADING. IT CAUSES BACKING UP AND LANE CHANGE ACCIDENTS I JUST RECEIVED A NEW PATENT THAT USES A FLAT MIRROR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS CALLED THE "SEE MORE SWITCH" IT IS AN " AUTOMOTIVE SIDE MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM" WITH NO BLIND SPOTS (PERFECT VIEW) THIS SYSTEM IS AUTOMATIC IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE OR LEASE
THE DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY TO THE TOUCH. WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE THE STICKINESS WITH A PAPER TOWEL AND CLEANER, THE PAPER TOWEL BECAME STUCK TO THE DASHBOARD. AT THIS TIME UNABLE TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS CREATING A GLARE ON THE FRONT WINDOW MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT TIMES. THE BLACK RUBBER EXTERIOR TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON MELTED. I WENT TO OPEN THE TRUNK AND HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING THE TRUNK TO OPEN. WHEN I BENT DOWN TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE BUTTON, IT WAS TOTALLY MELTED AND SMEARED ACROSS THE BOTTOM. I HAD BLACK RESIDUE ON MY FINGERS WHEN I TOUCHED WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE BUTTON. I REPORTED BOTH INCIDENTS TO MY SERVICE MANAGER IN JUNE 2014 WHEN I TOOK MY LEXUS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUNK BUTTON WOULD BE OVER $300 AND THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT COVERED. *TR
THE PLASTIC CLIPS THAT ATTACH THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BROKE, CAUSING THE WINDOW TO JUMP OUT OF THE TRACK. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON LEXUS OWNER FORUMS IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE WITH 2007-2008 ES350 MODELS. LEXUS EVEN REALIZES THERE IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THEY PUT OUT A SAFETY BULLETIN (L-SB-0003-09) ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER IS FORCING THE CONSUMER TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRE NEW WINDOW IN ORDER TO FIX THEIR FAULTY DESIGN. WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR AN ACCIDENT MAY HAVE OCCURRED. I WOULD A COMPANY WHO'S SLOGAN IS "THE PURSUIT OF PERFECTION" TO STAND UP AND ADMIT THAT THEY HAVE AN ISSUE. *TR
DASHBOARD IS MELTING. CAUSING A DANGEROUS GLARE FROM SUNLIGHT, OTHER DRIVER'S HEADLIGHTS, AND STREET LIGHTS. *TR
WHILE WE DRIVING DOWN THE TURNPIKE HEADING INTO PHILADELPHIA, MY WIFE TRIED TO ROLL DOWN HER WINDOWS AND THEN BACK UP. AS SHE DID, THE GLASS CAME OFF ITS TRACK AND ALMOST POPPED OUT OF THE DOOR. WE WERE GOING ABOUT 70 MPH. AT THIS SPEED, THAT WINDOW MAY HAVE COME OFF AND FLOWN OFF OUR CAR, HITTING ANOTHER CAR. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY FATAL. THE ONLY REASON IT DID NOT FLY OFF, WAS MY WIFE GRABBED ON TO IT WHILE I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WHILE PARKED, I LET THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN. WHEN LETTING THE WINDOW UP I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE WINDOW TIPPED DOWN IN THE FRONT LEAVING A LARGE GAP. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK IN PLACE MANUALLY. TOOK IT TO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. WAS TOLD ONE OF THE PLASTIC CLIPS ON THE GLASS HAD BROKEN AND THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED SO THE TOTAL COST INCLUDING THE WINDOW TINT WAS $646.67. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. I READ IF TAKEN TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP, THERE IS A PERMANENT FIX. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT WINDOW GLASS JUST WENT DOWN WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN FREEZING WINTER WEATHER, THE WINDOW GLASS WOULD NOT GO UP AND SHE COULD PULL IT UP ALSO BECAUSE THE WINDOW GLASS WENT INSIDE THE DOOR COMPLETELY. SHE WAS IN A REMOTE AREA AND HAD TO DRIVE MANY MILES WITH OPEN FRONT WINDOW WITH BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURE TO FIND A NEAREST LEXUS DEALER SHE ALSO HAD TWO KIDS IN THE CAR TO MAKE SITUATION STILL WORSE. THE LEXUS DEALER SAID THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND WINDOW GLASS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE PLASTIC CLIP HOLDING THE WINDOW GLASS TO THE REGULATOR HAD BROKEN. DEALER SAID HE HAS TO ORDER THE PARTS FOR IT AND GAVE A QUOTE OF $800. WORST PART IS THE DEALER PULLED THE WINDOW GLASS UP AND PUT SOME TAPE TO HOLD IT TEMPORARILY AND CHARGED $100 DOLLARS FOR IT. I CANNOT BELIEVE LUXURY CAR LIKE LEXUS WILL HAVE SUCH FAULTY PARTS INSTALLED WHEN I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE I SAW MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON SAME EXACT ISSUE WE FACED, THIS WINDOW GLASS AND PARTS SHOULD BE RE-CALLED AND REPLACED FOR FREE BY LEXUS BECAUSE IT CAN BE SAFETY ISSUE IF THIS HAPPENS IN FREEZING WINTER WEATHER. *TR
ON JULY 24, 2014 I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE WAS STARTING TO LOOK STICKY AND SHINY LIKE THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT UNTIL I STARTED DRIVING AND COULD NOT SEE CLEARLY OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF THE GLARE FROM THE STICKY AND SHINY DASHBOARD. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I FIND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CONSUMER WITH THIS PROBLEM. IN 2012 I FIRST NOTICED THE STICKY AND SHINY DASHBOARD ONLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH I'VE MENTIONED THE ISSUE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED HE HASN'T HEARD ABOUT SUCH ISSUE. I WILL BE BRINGING MY CAR IN AS IT IS NOW AFFECTING MY ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY BECAUSE OF THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND WILL PRESENT THEM WITH THE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS SEEN HERE. CLEARLY THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT LEXUS NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON BEFORE THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD MELTS AND AFFECTS THE AIRBAGS. I HOPE TO SEE A RESOLUTION FOR ALL SOON BEFORE A FATALITY FROM THIS DEFECT BECOMES NATIONAL NEWS AS THE ACCELERATION ISSUE DID. *JS
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 ES 350 I ATTEMPTED TO LET MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW DOWN AND WHEN I TRIED TO LET IT UP IT WOULDN'T GO UP AT FIRST THEN IT CAME UP OFF TRACK UPON LETTING IT UP. *TR
WIFE WAS OPERATING THE DRIVER WINDOW IN OUR LEXUS ES 350. THE DRIVER WINDOW CRASHED DOWN INTO THE DRIVER DOOR PANEL MOMENTARILY STARTLING HER. SHE SWERVED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD A TECHNICIAN PULL OFF THE DOOR PANEL AND THE PLASTIC MOUNTING TABS ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND THE PLASTIC MOUNTING TABS ON THE WINDOW HAD DISINTEGRATED. ACCORDING TO THE LEXUS OWNERS WEB SITE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON ALL 2007-2008 LEXUS ES 350 MODELS. LEXUS WILL NOT COVER THIS PROBLEM UNLESS STILL UNDER THE 4 YEAR WARRANTY. WHILE WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2007 ES350 IN A HIGH WAY IN DECEMBER 2011, THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT WINDOW GLASS SUDDENLY FELL OFF FROM THE TRACK, AND WE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE CAR RIGHT AWAY. AFTER REPLACING IT WITH A "NEWLY-DESIGNED" OEM GLASS IN A TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPT (IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO WE PAID $600 FOR THE REPLACEMENT), THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONT WINDOW GLASS ALSO FELL OFF IN FEBRUARY 2012, AND WE COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THE GLASS WAS REPLACED IN THE SAME DEPT. ONCE ONE (OR BOTH) OF THE FRONT WINDOW GLASSES FALLS OFF, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR IN A HIGH SPEED. AND, WE BELIEVE THE ORIGINAL WINDOW-GLASS DESIGN HAS A DEFECT AND THAT IS WHY LEXUS RE-DESIGNED THE GLASS (PLEASE LOOK AT THE TSB BELOW). I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY LEXUS DOESN'T RECALL IT FOR THE DRIVING SAFETY.
