Experienced unintended acceleration when pulling into a parking space. My vehicle went over the curb and into a ditch. The bushes and embankment of the ditch stopped the vehicle. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of a problem.
On Monday, Oct. 27, 2025 at approximately 11:50 am, my vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. I was pulling into a parking spot and suddenly accelerated and jump the barrier into a ditch. Luckly there were bushes to stop me. I was standing on the brake. There were no prior indications there was an issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Lexus ES350. The contact stated that the dashboard had become sticky and had started to melt. Over time, the contact stated that glare had started to reflect from the windshield onto the dashboard, obstructing visibility while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was acknowledged that the defect was a known failure. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that the Extended Warranty coverage had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
Dashboard is sticky, shiny, and melting from the heat. All lint, dust and cloth sticks to the sticky dashboard. Shiny dashboards can pose safety hazards that affect visibility with a glare bouncing off the windshield, and overall health issues since melted dashboards can emit harmful odors. Lexus is saying their Customer Support Program ZLZ expired in 2021. I never received any mail from them about this program even though they claim they mailed it to me in 2018. I have been having my vehicle serviced at Longo Lexus since 2009, with the last maintenance service done on 6/21/23, and the dealership just noted this problem sticky dashboard issue to me, after the Lexus customer support program expired. The server advisor at Longo told me they could replace my dashboard for $2,572, but don't understand why they didn't offer to replace it for free in 2018-2021, like they did my floor mats, which was also a safety hazard. This sticky and melting dashboard problem is a manufacturer defect and my dashboard needs to be replaced by Lexus at no cost to me regardless if my vehicle is out of warranty. Also, the expiration date for this Customer Support Program needs to be extended for all owners of Lexus vehicles with this problem, regardless of mileage.
Dashboard is melting from heat and needs to be replaced. Company refuses to replace saying recalls expired 2021. Never received any mail from them even though they said they mailed it to me. Be going to Price LeBlanc for service since 2013 never mentioned anything about it. Thanks
I was driving home from work & just before 5pm I hit a section of the side of the road that has deteriorated on SR 68 between Tecumseh high school & Lynnville, IN. It blew out the inner wall of my tire & I had to get it replaced. I have seen this happen to other drivers on this road as well. The road needs to be repaired before someone gets seriously injured. This incident caused me to replace all 4 of my tires prematurely. Please repair the road - there are at least 2 areas that need to be repaired
BROKEN ENGINE VALVE SPRING. ONLY ONE SO FAR THAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET.

THE 2009 IS IDENTICAL IN DESIGN AND LEXUS SHOULD FIX THIS. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY OFFERED TO PAY A SMALL PORTION OF THE $1700 REPAIR COSTS.

I CALLED LEXUS OF ROCKVILLE CENTER LI NY TODAY REGARDING "URGENT SAFETY RECALL" NOTICE I RECEIVED. SADLY LEXUS DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER UNTIL END OF MARCH... CAN'T EVEN MAKE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE LEXUS FIX THE PROBLEM "TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATORS" FOR AN URGENT SAFETY RECALL - I HAVE HAD NO VEHICLE PROBLEMS YET...

FAULTY AIRBAG HARNESS WIRRING. DEAR SIR OR MADAM, THIS IS TO REPORT THAT 2007-2012 IS 250, IS 350 AND ES 350 HAS FAULTY AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS WHICH DISABLES THE AIRBAGS. CLUBLEXUS.COM HAS RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS. THE REPAIRS WILL ONLY BE DONE OR CORRECT IF THE VEHICLE IS UNDER 6 YEARS OLD OR 70,000 MILES, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. FEW THOUSAND CUSTOMERS HAVE CARS LESS THAN 70,000 MILES BUY BEYOND 72 MONTHS BUT LEXUS REFUSES TO RECTIFY THIS TSB WARNING UNDER THE WARRANTY. IT IS NOT OUR FAULTS THAT THE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 70,000 MILES IN 6 YEARS. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS IS IN THE UPWARDS OF 4000$. THIS IS RIDICULOUS ON THE PART OF LEXUS AND NHTSA. THE AIRBAG WIRING SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS ALONG WITH THE TAKATA RECALLS AS THEY ARE CONNECTED BUT LEXUS REFUSES TO AGREE TO THE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS AND HAVE DARED MANY CUSTOMERS TO CHALLENGE NHTSA TO GET IT COVERED UNDER RECALL. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A MATCH FOUND FOR MY VIN REGARDING TAKATA AIRBAG. LEXUS DEALER CLAIMS VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED IN LEXUS MASTER DATABASE. I CONTACTED THE SENDER AND THEY ESCALATED THE INFO AND CONFIRMED THAT MY VEHICLE DOES HAVE TAKATA AIRBAGS. LEXUS CLAIMS THEY ARE WRONG. PLEASE ADVISE HOW TO PROCEED.

MELTING DASHBOARD PROBLEM WHICH AFFECTS VISIBILITY. I CALLED LEXUS HEADQUARTERS IN AUGUST 2017 AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO LEXUS DEALER AND THEY TOOK PICTURES WHICH THEY SAID THEY WOULD SUBMIT SOMEWHERE. AFTER MANY MONTHS, I CALLED HEADQUARTERS AGAIN. I GOT A CALL FROM THEM ON 1/29/2018 STATING THAT MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO REPLACE DASHBOARD. MANY OTHER LEXUS MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY INDICATED MY MODEL WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. SINCE MY CAR ALSO HAVE THE DEFECTED MATERIAL THAT WAS USED IN THOSE OTHER MODELS, I BELIEVE LEXUS SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE DASHBOARD. TAKATA RECALL. DEALER TELLS ME NOT TO DRIVE CAR WITH FRONT PASSENGER, DOES NOT HAVE PARTS/ABILITY TO FIX THE PROBLEMS AND OFFERS ME CAR RENTAL UNTIL RESOLUTION. HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO ACCEPT THE RENTAL CAR, I MUST AGREE NOT TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR AT ALL EVEN WHEN I AM ALONE. I EXPLAIN I AM ALONE 99.9% OF THE TIME BUT HAVE CHILDREN AND OTHER GUESTS COMING TO VISIT ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THIS SUMMER AND THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY TIME I WOULD HAVE FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS AND THE ONLY TIME I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE MY CAR IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION. TAKATA RECALL, WHAT IS THE AVERAGE REPAIR PERIOD, RECEIVED NOTICE IN MARCH AND HAVE NO UPDATED INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE AIRBAGS WILL BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE AS YOU KNOW IS HARDLY USABLE EVEN BY DRIVER ALONE. TOYOTA IS 34% APPROXIMATELY COMPLETE ON THIS, DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THEY ARE KEEPING UP WITH EVERYONE ELSE.
THE DASHBOARD ON THIS VEHICLE IS MELTING. THE SMELL IS TERRIBLE. I DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THAT THE ORDER COMING FROM THE MELTING DASH IS TOXIC. GIVEN THE UNKNOWN DATE WHEN A REMEDY IS AVAILABLE,NTHSA SHOULD REQUIRE COMPENSATION FOR LOSS OF USE AND/OR BUYBACK OF THE VEHICLES BY THE MANUFACTURER. I LACK FULL USE OF THE CAR AS THE FRONT PASSENGER SHOULD NOT USE THAT SEAT AND POSSIBLE SALE IS IMPEDED AS CAR VALUE IS LESSENED BECAUSE OF THE EXISTING DEFECT.

AS OF TODAY, 02/06/17, NO NEWS ON WHEN THE AIRBAR WILL BE REPLACED. MY DAUGHTER IS UNDER 25 YEARS OLD AND CAN'T DRIVE A RENTAL CAR. THIS IS CAUSING A HARDSHIP TO MY FAMILY.
