ON OCTOBER 4, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:45 PM, I DEPARTED FROM THE SACRAMENTO CHILDREN'S HOME THROUGH AN ADJACENT ALLEY TRAVELING THROUGH THE SOUTH BOUND ENTRANCE. AS I MADE THE LEFT TURN INTO THE ALLEY AS I GRADUALLY GOT UP TO SPEED MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I WAS STARTLED BY THE SUDDEN INCREASE OF SPEED AND IMMEDIATE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND APPLY THE BRAKES. BEFORE I COULD MAKE THE CORRECTIONS THE VEHICLE HAD VEERED OFF TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ALLEY AND STRUCK AN OAK TREE. TO MY GUESS THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT A RATE OF SPEED OF ABOUT 25-30 MPH. ON IMPACT I SLAMMED INTO MY MOTOROLA SPEAKER THAT WAS ATTACHED TO MY SUN VISOR AND SPLIT MY HEAD OPEN WHICH REQUIRED 8 STAPLES TO CLOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH SPEED AND TAKE YOUR FOOT OF THE GAS PEDAL AND CAR CONTINUES TO GO 65 MPH ALL OF SUDDEN NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO 65 MPH, EVEN WHEN HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THE RPM METER AND THE MOTOR SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO 500 RPM AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED GOING 65 MPH. ALSO, THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONER BURNED OUT. THE DEALER STATED THE BURN HAPPENED INSIDE THE WIRE HARNESS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF WHEN IT SUDDENLY EXPLODED. *TT
DROVE CAR TODAY AND IT HAD BEEN SITTING PARKED FOR 5 HOURS . NEIGHBORS CALLED MY CELL TO TELL ME THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD BEEN CALLED TO TRY TO PUT IT OUT . THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CHAINSAW THE HOOD AND THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO PUT IT OUT WITHOUT THE FIRE DESTROYING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE TRUCK HOWEVER HAD BURNED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT . THIS TRUCK HAD SELF STARTED ITS OWN FIRE BEING LEFT ALONE IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR 5 HOURS . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IGNITED IN FLAMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN TO THE CONTACT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
MY SPARE TIRE FELL OUT FROM BENEATH MY TRUCK. THE CABLE WAS SPLIT AT THE END. THE SMALL CONNECTOR THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE CABLE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE END OF THE CABLE WHICH ALSO HOLDS A METAL PAD IN PLACE. THE PAD ALLOWS THE SPARE TIRE TO BE RAISED OR LOWERED. ALL PARTS WERE RETRIEVED, THE SPARE TIRE, METAL PAD AND CONNECTOR. THE SPARE TIRE HOIST ASSEMBLY WAS STILL OPERATIONAL, MINUS THE PARTS THAT FELL OUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT END BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CONTACT STATED THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE.. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT STATED NO INJURIES OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT REFERENCE RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V017000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL, AND STATED THE RECALL WORK WAS NEVER PERFORMED ON HER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2010. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 118,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. DURING BRAKE APPLICATION AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR-BOARD. CONSEQUENTLY SHE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY, IN WHICH THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO MAKE REPAIRS. HOWEVER, WHILE IN THE SHOP THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE IDLING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE FIRE REPORT STATES THAT FIRE WAS CAUSED BY BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. ALL THE PLASTIC COMPONENTS OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND BRAKE LINES WERE DESTROYED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 190,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. WHILE DRIVING THE PASSENGER SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS, MAIN TERMINAL, COMPRESSOR AND THE ALTERNATOR HAD MELTED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, HE HEARD A PECULIAR NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER NOR HAS HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 169,000.

LINCOLN NAVIGATOR 2000 BURST INTO FLAMES LAST NIGHT IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND BURNT OUR OTHER CAR A LAND ROVER AND 8 SUITCASES WORTH OF PERSONAL EFFECTS OF CLOTHES AND JEWELRY. BICYCLIST AWOKE THE FAMILY WHO WERE SLEEPING AT 5AM TO WARN THEM TO EVACUATE THE HOUSE. FIRE FIGHTERS TOOK 3 HOURS TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. AFTER DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND SMELLED BURNING RUBBER. SHE NOTICED SMOKE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. SHE OPENED THE HOOD AND FLAMES APPEARED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE BODY SHOP FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 110,000.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 NAVIGATOR. I BOUGHT IT FROM A PRIVATE OWNER ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. WHEN GO TO CHANGE GEARS, THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WON'T GO INTO GEAR OR IF I PUT IT IN PARK, IT SOMETIMES WON'T GO. THEN I TRIED TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN PARKING, WHICH IS WHAT I HAD TO RESORT TO DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT STAYING IN GEAR, IT ALSO WOULD NOT WORK. I WENT TO GET MY VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT PASS. SO THAT PROMPTED MY ONLINE RESEARCH AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN I CAME ACROSS THE RECALL IN FORMATION FOR THIS VEHICLE AND SIMILAR MODELS AND I SEE THAT SOME RECALLS WERE MADE, BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE'S YEAR. I WAS WONDERING IF MY VEHICLE'S YEAR MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN SOME OF THE OTHER RECALLS BECAUSE I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 AND THE RECALL WAS FOR A 1998 AND SO ON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. FOUR HOURS AFTER BEING DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE WAS SO BAD THAT THE HOOD BLEW OFF. THE TIRES AND EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE WERE MELTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A FIREFIGHTER STATED THAT THERE WAS A FORD RECALL REGARDING THIS FAILURE. HE FURTHER STATED THAT THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE ORIGINATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL TOW YARD. THE CONTACT HAS PHOTOS AND A VIDEOTAPE OF THE FIRE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 97,000.
2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR, RADIO FLASHES ON AND OFF WITH VEHICLE OFF, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING, AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING OFF FOR A COUPLE HOURS, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE WINDSHIELD, OPEN THE VEHICLE DOOR AND A/C IS BLOWING FULL BLAST AND RADIO IS FLASHING ON AND OFF AGAIN SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING AND CAUSED A MINOR FIRE. LOOKED UP RECALL INFORMATION AND FORD STATES THAT OUR VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED UNDER THE RECALL# 01S24, ALTHOUGH IT SHOWS OUR MODEL YEAR ALONG WITH A MAJORITY OF FORD, LINCOLN, AND MERCURY VEHICLES. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED WITH THE 2000 FORD EXPEDITION NHTSA ACTION# EA05015. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN LS. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE IT MISFIRED AND THE FRONT END WAS LOOSE. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT IT WOULD COST $42.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT CONTROL ARM LOWER BALL JOINTS FAILED, IT WOULD COST HIM $1200.00 TO REPAIR IT AND THERE WAS NO RECALL RELATED TO HIS VIN. RECALL NUMBER 00V359001 IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER IS CURRENTLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR AIR BAG SUSPENSION KIT IS DEFLATED. THE MOTOR APPEARS TO BE SHORTED OUT. HE STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS APPEAR TO WIND BACK UP, BUT THEN MOVE UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AS IF THE MOTOR WAS ATTEMPTING TO POSITION IT CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT WENT TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT FOR FREE. THE DEALER IS CHARGING $2,500 TO INFLATE THE AIR BAGS. THERE WAS NO IMPACT OR FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 110,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC AW, SIZE P275/60/R17 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY ITS FRONT END. THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES SUFFERED FROM TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRES WERE ONLY TWO YEARS OLD. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIRES SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT IN THAT MANNER DUE TO THEIR AGE. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE VEHICLE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 88,000.

AS OF NOVEMBER 29, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. RUN AWAY LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. IN LIGHT OF TOYOTA'S PROBLEMS, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN 2007. OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION, UNABLE TO STOP, UNABLE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL. SUV KEPT INCREASING SPEED DESPITE NOT DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
UPON DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD,WITH NO AAPARENT PRELIMINARY WARNINGS, A SCREW FELL FROM UNDER MY DASH ONTO MY FEET. I DISMISSED IT AS A DASH COVER SCREW AND KEPT DRIVING. UPON REACHING MY HOME AND TRYING TO PUT MY GEARSHIFT INTO "PARK", I REALIZE THIS SCREW HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GEAR SHIFT AND LINKAGE. THE SHIFTER IS NOW LOOSE AND WILL NOT GO INTO "PARK". IF I HOLD IT TOWARDS THE "P" I AM ABLE TO GET MY KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I NOW HAVE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND I HAVE TO START THE CAR IN "NEUTRAL". NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE UNLESS IT PROGRESSES AND THE GEARSHIFT FALLS OFF. I WILL HAVE IT FIXED BY THE DEALER TOMORROW - JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *NM
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR SEEMED TO TAKE CONTROL OF ITSELF. MY TAPE PLAYER QUIT WORKING, MY AIR TURNED OFF. MY ENGINE WAS ROARING. PUSHING FORWARD EVEN WITH MY BRAKES ON. I WAS SHAKING AND CRYING I COULD NOT CONTROL MY CAR IT WAS TRYING TO MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION WITH A RED LIGHT. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE MOVEMENT. I FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS POSSESSED WITH IT'S OWN MIND. THE CAR REPAIR SHOP REPLACED IT'S ALTERNATOR. I AM ON MY 4TH ALTERNATOR THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP IT CAN NOT BE DRIVEN ON THE ROAD SAFELY. THEY HAVE TRIED REPLACING SOME WIRING. STILL IS NOT WORKING. *NM
OEM CONTINENTAL AT 255/75-R17 TIRE SEPARATION ON 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR 4X4. TIRE BULGED ON TREAD (NOT SIDEWALL) AND STEEL BELTS WERE BROKEN SHOWING THROUGH THE TREAD. VEHICLE HAD 36895 MILES. *NM
TIRE HAS UNUSUAL WEAR CAUSING TIRE TO FAIL AND LOSE AIR PRESSURE. ALL 4 VEHICLE TIRES HAVE SAME UNUSUAL WEAR. IT IS NOT CONSISTENT AROUND TREAD OR GROUND CONTACT AREA. EXISTS IN SMALL OVAL PATTERN ON SECTIONS OF TIRE. SEVERELY WEARING DOWN IN ONLY THOSE AREAS. IT WAS NOT IDENTIFIED UNTIL VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TIRE SHOP AND THEY INDICATED OTHER CONTINENTAL TIRES HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO FAILURES FOR SAME MODEL YEAR AND MANUFACTURER OF VEHICLE. *NM
2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT IT WITH THE MANAGER FOR WEEKS AT A TIME TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT SHUTS OFF. I CAN BE DRIVING EITHER CITY OR HIGHWAY AND IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE HUST BEFORE IT DIES. THIS IS SUCH A DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER AND BEGAN 4/6/06!
ON 2/26/06 AT 12:40PM, MY 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR REAR BEGAN TO VIBRATE BADLY AND THEN A LOUD NOISE OCCURRED. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED & DAMAGED MY REAR BUMPER WHEEL WELL AND BRACKET. THE TYPE OF TIRES WERE CONTINENTAL GENERAL AW P275/60R17. THE DOT NUMBER FOR THE BAD TIRE WAS ADTO 44T 3802. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A LOCAL BATON ROUGE TIRE DEALER (TIRE KINGDOM) WITH THE TIRE AND THE MANAGER STATED THAT THE TIRE HAD A DEFECT AND HE COULD AUTHORIZE INSTALLING A NEW CONTINENTAL REPLACEMENT TIRE. THE TIRE STILL HAD VERY GOOD TREAD LIFE REMAINING. I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE OTHER TIRES AND HE WAS NOT AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR. SINCE I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH LEAVING THE OTHER TIRES ON MY VEHICLE AND HE DID NOT HAVE A LIKE REPLACEMENT, I REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND FILED A CLAIM WITH CONTINENTAL (CLAIM #6059007). CONTINENTAL REPLIED AND STATED THAT THE TIRE HAD BEEN REPAIRED (FUNNY THAT THE TIRE MAINTAINED AIR PRESSURE EVEN WHEN THE ENTIRE TREAD HAD BEEN BLOWN OFF). THIS IS NOT A FAIR AND RESPONSIBLE SETTLEMENT. I SENT CONTINENTAL THE INVOICE FOR THE COST OF ALL FOUR TIRES ($445.12) AND TWO AUTO REPAIR ESTIMATES FOR THE DAMAGE (~$800.00 AVERAGED). I NOTICED THAT THESE TIRES HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD A RECALL ON THE EXACT TIRE (ID #02T012000) AND CONTINENTAL DID NOT MENTION THIS OR ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION. I AM FORTUNATE THAT NEITHER ME NOR MY SON WERE KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT WHICH FAILED WHILE WE WERE TRAVELLING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH. I DO NOT NORMALLY FILE THESE TYPES OF CLAIMS. IN FACT, I CAN'T EVER RECALL EVER FILING ONE PREVIOUSLY. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS CLAIM AND HOLD CONTINENTAL RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT BEFORE ANY OTHER TIRES FAILA DN POSSIBLY HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY FAILED CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON DRY HIGHWAY ROAD.
ON JAN 14, 2006 , I CAME OUT IN THE AM AND STARTED MY 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. I TURNED ON WIPER AND STARTED TO DRIVE IN A FEW MINUTES THE TRUCK WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE. I IMMEDIATELY TURN IT OFF AND GOT OUT. I RETURN AND STARTED TRUCK TURNED WIPERS BACK ON AND THEY WORKED EXCEPT FOR INTERMITTENT MODE. I THEN TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY INFORMED ME THAT WATER LEAK PAST THE WINDSHIELD ONTO THE FUSE BOX AND GEM UNIT. THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE. ( NOT RESEAL. THEY SAID THIS WAS COMMON ON THESE TRUCKS. THEY ALSO NEEDED TO REPLACE FUSE BOX AND GEM TOTAL WAS $1200.00, I CONTACTED FORD BECAUSE WHY WOULD THEY HAVE TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD IF IT WAS ORIGINAL AND NOT CRACKED. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL AND THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE ME. AFTER LOOSING 2 OTHER TRUCKS IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD TO FIRE BOTH FORDS , I AM NOW EXTREMELY ANNOYED THAT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THESE PROBLEMS. I SEARCH FORUMS AND INTERNET AND SEE THAT THIS IS COMMON ( WINDSHIELD LEAK), WHY WILL FORD NOT PAY FOR THIS. I GUESS THEY FEEL THAT IF THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT THEN WHY RECALL. I HAVE LOST 2 TRUCKS BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS NOW I HAVE A 3RD TRUCK WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. FORCE FORD TO RECALL OR FIX THESE PROBLEMS AT THEIR EXPENSE. I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR 15 YEARS AND UNDERSTAND A RECALL LIKE THIS TO REPLACE WINDSHIELDS WOULD BE EXPENSIVE BUT I THE CONSUMER CAN NOT KEEP BUYING TRUCKS. *NM

ON MARCH 7, 2005, I WAS DRIVING IN REVERSE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN OUR 2000 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL. I HEARD A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND A LOUD EXPLOSION AS THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW. WE TRIED TO CHANGE THE TIRE AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT COIL SPRING HAD SHEARED IN HALF, AND EXPLODED INTO THE TIRE. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED, AS IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR RECOMMENDED THAT WE REPLACE THE OTHER THREE COIL SPRINGS AS WELL BECUASE HE SAID THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THE PART IN MERCURY SABLES AND FORD TAURUS' BUT HADN'T RECALLED IT FOR LINCOLNS. HE SAID HE HAD SEEN A NUMBER OF THE SAME TYPE OF PART FAILURE IN LINCOLNS. THE PLACE WHERE WE WENT TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE (THE ONE RUINED BY THE DEFECTIVE COIL SPRING WAS BRAND NEW) SAID THEY HAD SEEN FIFTY TO SIXTY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN RECENT MONTHS AND FIVE CUSTOMERS IN THE PREVIOUS TWO WEEKS WITH LINCOLNS. THE MECHANIC WHO DID THE WORK ON THE CAR CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAD SEEN MANY OF THE SAME TYPES OF PROBLEMS IN RECENT WEEKS. WE CALLED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SAID WE WERE THE FIRST ONES TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT AND REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES/PARTS. *AK
IN 2/05, MY HUSBAND & I WERE DRIVING HIS 2000 LINCOLNTOWNCARON THE HIGHWAY,WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE TRACT ACTIVE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THESIDEOF THE ROAD SAFELY.WE WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN PROCEEDED BACK ON THE HIGHWAY.WE WERE THEN ABLE TO KEEP UP THE SPEED AND CAME HOME SAFELY.A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND WE TOOK THECAR INTO DULANEY MOTORS,.WHEN WE EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENEDTHEYSAID THEY WERE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM MOTOR CO. THEYCALLEDFORD MOTOR CO AND WERE TOLD TO CHECK FOR BAD COILS.THEY DID THIS & REPLACED THE COIL FOR $279.37. THIS WAS 3/1 & THE PROB HAPPENED AGAIN. ON 3/ 14, WE TOOK IT BACK TO DULANEY MOTORS. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY FOUND #6 COIL BAD. THEY REPLACED IT AND ALSO THE BOOT ON THE REMAINING COILS. THIS LAST JOB COST US $349.81 THE CAR ONLYHAS 56,000 MILES AND I WOULD THINK SINCE THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY PROBELM THERE SHOULD BE SOME GUARANTEE THAT THIS WOULD BE FIXED.OBVIOUSLY FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE THEN DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH A MECHANIC .AT THE SAME TIME WE ALSO NEEDED BRAKES AND WE JUST COULDN'T AFFORD TO REPAIR THE BRAKES AND STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HE EXPLAINED THAT MAYBE THAT THE BRAKES MAY ACTUALLY BE THE PROBLEM. HE SAID THAT EACH BRAKE HAS A SENSOR. IF THE BRAKES START GRINDING, IT GETS METAL FLAKES ON THE SENSOR.THE SENSOR DOES NOT READ THE WHEELS RIGHT AND THEN SHUTS DOWN1/2 THE ENGINE. WE HAD THE BRAKES FIXED ON MARCH 28 THIS DID SEEM TOHELP THE SITUATION, UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF JUNE,IT AGAINHAPPENED IT IS NOW JUNE 21, AND IT HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN-BUT WE ARE ALWAYS ON PINS AND NEEDLES. MY HUSBAND READ THE CARS MANUL AND THERE IS A BUTTON IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT THAT TURNS OFF THE RACT CONTROL-SO HE DRIVES WITH THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OPEN-SO IF IT HAPPENS HE CAN DISENGAGE THIS BUTTON. I AGAIN EMAILED AND CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY. HOW MANY MORE TIMES SHOULD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.PLEASE HELP.
ON NOVEMBER 18, 2003 I HAD HOLMAN FORD OF TURNERSVILLE, NJ DO REPAIRS TO MY 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEAT WAS INOPERATIVE AND I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW HEATED SEAT ELEMENT. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A WARRANTY REPAIR. I APPROVED THE REPAIR AND THE WORK WAS SUPPOSEDLY COMPLETED. IN DECEMBER, 2004 THE HEATED SEAT ON THE DRIVER?S SIDE STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO HOLMAN FORD OF TURNERSVILLE, NJ ON FEBRUARY 11, 2005 FOR THE HEATED SEAT PROBLEM AS WELL AS A RECALL ITEM. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT NEEDED A HEATED SEAT ELEMENT AGAIN AND THIS REPAIR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I QUESTIONED HOW THIS ELEMENT COULD GO BAD IN SUCH A SHORT TIME PERIOD. GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE HEATED SEAT IS ONLY USED IN COLD WEATHER, IT WOULD ONLY HAVE HAD LIMITED USE. *AK I CALLED THE MANUFACTURE ON FEBRUARY 11, 2005. THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. MY POSITION IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY THIS ELEMENT COULD HAVE FAILED UNLESS IT WAS NOT REPLACED THE FIRST TIME, THERE IS SOMETHING CAUSING THIS PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED THE FIRST TIME OR THE INSTALLATION IS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FEB. 2005 THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH MAY CAUSE A FIRE. THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS DEACTIVATED UNTIL THE DEALER GETS THE PART.
A FIRE WHICH STARTED OUTSIDE IN THE CARPORT DESTROYED MY HOME, MY 2000 LINCOLN TOWNCAR, A BERETTA, AND AN OLDER FORD 150 TRUCK ON JANUARY 16, 2005.
