WHEN I PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO CLOSE IT I COULD SEE THAT THE LATCH WAS FROZEN OPEN. I COULD NOT GET IT TO LATCH AGAIN UNTIL THE TEMPERATURE HAD BEEN WARMER FOR HALF THE DAY. IT HAS BEEN COLDER THAT 25 DEGREES FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA 5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC GUARD AROUND THE TIRE FRACTURED AND DETACHED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE LINE WAS CUT BY THE PLASTIC AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO CRASH INTO A ROCK WALL. THE BRAKE CALIPER AND DRIVER DOOR WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I OWN A 2006 MAZDA5 AND THE SEATBELT BASE CONNECTOR FELL APART, LITERALLY COLLAPSED AND ALL THE PIECES OF HARD PLASTIC CAME OFF LEAVING AN UNLATCHABLE METAL PLATE.
