Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I'M EXPERIENCING MISFIRE WITH THE 2002 MAZDA MPV. THE ENGINE COILS ARE THE CULPRIT. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY MPV OWNERS AND IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO JERK AND LOSE POWER AND CONSUME MORE GAS. SOME REPORTED THIS ISSUE WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES AND MINE IS AROUND 47,000. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. *JB
(2) OF THE BACK (3) IGNITION COILS FAILED, CAUSING THE MINIVAN TO MISFIRE AND RUN POORLY. THE MINIVAN HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT. THE COILS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED, SINCE THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW. MY MINIVAN IS ALMOST (5) YEARS, SO IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. MANY OTHER MAZDA MPVS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM RECENTLY. *TR
ENGINE WAS HESITATING DURING ACCELERATION CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. PROBLEM GOT WORSE AS ENGINE HEATED UP. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A BAD COIL BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHICH OF THE 6 COILS WERE FAULTING. DEALER FINALLY GAVE IN AND REPLACED THEM FOR NO CHARGE AFTER I COMPLAINED TO CORPORATE. POSSIBLE RECALL ITEM?
CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. MAZDA 2002 MPV MINIVAN. *AK
DRIVING VAN ON MAJOR HWY (H-2 FREEWAY) AT 50MPH, SUDDENLY A DECREASE IN POWER AND ENGINE DIED . PRIOR TO THE ENGINE INCIDENT, NOTICED MY DASHBOARD GOT FAIRLY HOT AND RADIATED HEAT IN THE INTERIOR AREA.*AK
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
