THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ERROR CODE SAYS DEPRESSED BRAKE PRESSURE ESP AND BRAKES GO OUT CALL DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE IS RECORD OF IT BEING FIXED IN 2005 BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK.
WHILE DRIVING, WITH SHORT BEEPS , THE SBC IN MY W211 GIVES A SHORT WARNING AND FAILS COMPLETELY. IT IS VERY RISKY TO DRIVE AFTER THAT. WITH SUCH AN EXPENSIVE CAR THE RELIABILITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. IF THERE IS A RECALL IT WOULD HELP MANY OWNERS.
MY 2006 MERCEDES BENZ E350 HAS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE, PARTICULARLY STRONG AFTER FILLING THE TANK. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THERE WAS A NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST AND THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED IN NHTSA CLOSING THE PROBE. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND THEY INDICATED THAT THE WARRANTY IS NOT EXTENDED. THIS IMPLIES THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT COMPLYING WITH THEIR AGREEMENT OR THE PROBE SHOULD BE REOPENED?
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET A RED PROMPT OF BRAKING SYSTEM FAIL DECREASE PRESSURE ESP GOES ON AND I HAVE TO PUSH BRAKES ALL THE WAY DOWN AND USE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM TO STOP! DASH SAYS SERVICE BRAKES. BRAKES WERE CHANGED AS WELL AS SENSORS AND NEW AUXILIARY BATTERY WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS IF AUXILIARY BATTERY GOES OUT BRAKING SYSTEM FAILS AND CAR IS HARD TO STOP.
REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE MOVEMENT GAS LEAK FROM FUEL TANK LOCATED UNDER BACK SEAT ABOVE EXHAUST SYSTEM. CONSTANT GAS SMELL, AND FUEL GAUGE ALWAYS JUMPING UP AND DOWN AGAIN REGARDLESS OF MOTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS INDICATE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR, AND FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO COVER TANK ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT UNDER PZEV WARRANTY OF 15YRS / 150,000 MILES IN STATE OF CALIFORNIA. VEHICLE IS 2006, WITH 109K MILES. DOCUMENTATION OF TROUBLE CODES NOT AVAILABLE AT TIME OF REPORTING, BUT CAN BE PROVIDED UPON FUTURE REQUEST. FUEL RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TANK NARROWLY MISSING THE EXHAUST, POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ E55. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE FUEL FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALTER'S MERCEDES-BENZ OF RIVERSIDE (951-441-6182, LOCATED AT 3213 ADAMS ST, RIVERSIDE, CA 92504) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP LEAKED FUEL. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SUPPORTED THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 151,877.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE FUEL FROM THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS LEAKING AND THERE WAS A POOL OF FUEL UNDERNEATH THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH LEAKED INTO THE REAR SEATS. THE CONTACT ALSO SMELLED A FUEL ODOR THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A DRIED FUEL FILM ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE'S ACCESS PANEL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF WEST COVINA (2010 E GARVEY AVE S, WEST COVINA, CA 91791, 626-859-1200). THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF AN ARTICLE FROM NHTSA THAT STATED THEY WOULD OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (P-BQ-FUEL-3WA) TO THEIR CONSUMERS REGARDING THIS DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO COVER THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE SPECIFIC DEFECT PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE DEFECTIVE PART. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH THE CONTACT THAT THE DEALER SHOULD COVER THE VEHICLE UNDER THE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOCAL DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY AND HAD THE RIGHT TO REFUSE THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 147,647.
WHILE DRIVING ON US 50 MY THE SBC FAILED WHILE DRIVING 60MPH I HAD NO BRAKES THE INDICATORS TOLD ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND TO DEPRESS BRAKES FULLY. THAT'S HARD TO DO WHN UR GOING 60MPH... SO I HAD TO LET THE VEHICLE DRIFT UNTIL IT CAME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY... PLEASE GET MB TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE... AFTER THIS INCIDENT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAID AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE REVVING SO HIGH WHEN THE BREAKS FAILED I GOT TROUBLE CODES P0016 AND P0017.. RELATED TO THE BALANCE SHAFT... THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED... BASED ON THE PRICE I WAS QUOTED IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD IT WILL COST BETWEEN 4 TO $5.000 USD FOR REPAIRS.
PARK CAR AT HOUSE, WHEN I WENT TO USE IT NEXT DAY, IGNITION WONT TURN AND THE STEERING IS LOCK CAN NOT UNLOCK, NO MATTER WHAT I DO.
MERCEDES-BENZ V6 M272 ENGINES HAVE TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS CAUSED BY BALANCE SHAFT FAILURES WHICH MERCEDES HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEAR. FAULTY GEARS WEAR OUT PREMATURELY, EXCESSIVELY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MALFUNCTION, THE 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE TO MISFIRE OR STOP DRIVING. WEAK MATERIALS WERE USED FOR THE BALANCE SHAFT SPROCKETS AND THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDE, MERCEDES NEVER CONTACTED ITS OWNERS ABOUT THE DEFECT WHICH CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO HALT AND THE CAR TO STOP MID-TRAFFIC. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THE VEHICLE AT EVERY START, THROWING A P0016 AND P0017 TROUBLE CODE, WHICH RETURNS EVEN AFTER CLEARING AND RESTART. AFTER GOING TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, ALL HAVE NOTED THAT THE BALANCE SHAFT (WITHIN THE ENGINE) REQUIRES REPAIR AN ISSUE MERCEDES HAS KNOW ABOUT FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND HAD EVEN ISSUED ITS MECHANICS WITH SERVICE BULLETINS (APRIL 23, 2009, SEE ATTACHED), BUT HAS NEVER NOTIFIED ITS CAR OWNERS OF THE HAZARDOUS DRIVING DURING ANY OF ITS SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP OR HAS NOT NOTIFIED WITH ANY OTHER COMMUNICATION. ENGINES WITH SERIAL NUMBERS LOWER THAN M272 ENGINE SERIAL NO. 2729..30 468993 HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS AT MANUFACTURE, WHICH IS AFFECTING MY MERCEDES VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING AND LOST ALL BREAK PRESSURE RAN A RED LIGHT AND ALMOST KILLED MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. NOT SAFE
CAR BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY 65 MPH. SBC RED LIGHT WENT OFF AND CAR BRAKE WAS FULLY DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING TOOK TOO LONG. CAR DISPLAY ERROR MESSAGE WAS BRAKING POWER DECREASED. DEPRESS BRAKE FULLY. TURNED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED BUT ERROR MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND CAR BRAKES FULLY AGAIN. NOT GOOD AT ALL. NOW I KNOW THAT PROBLEM IS LURKING AND CAN HAPPEN AGAIN ANYTIME. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE INJURED ME, MY PASSENGER, OR ANOTHER PERSON. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY CAR BRAKES TO FAIL JUST LIKE THAT. DUE TO MANUFACTURER INCOMPETENCE.
I ARRIVED HOME AFTER DRIVING 2 MILES FROM WORK AND WHEN I STOPPED I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD. THE SMOKE WOULD ALMOST STOP AND THEN BECOME THICK AGAIN, IN CYCLES OF ABOUT 1 MINUTE. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE COOLING FAN. AFTER SEVERAL CYCLES IT BURST INTO FLAMES. FORTUNATELY WE WERE READY WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT RIGHT AWAY. THE FUSE, WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE POPPED AND STOPPED THE CYCLING OF THE FAN, NEVER DID BLOW. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED BUT IT ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT. ALL INFORMATION IN THE CARFAX INDICATES IT WAS MAINTAINED. I DIDN'T TAKE PICTURES OF THE FIRE.
EXTREME SMELL OF FUEL WHEN MAKING SHARP OR EXTENDED TURNS (FREEWAY ON/OFF RAMPS). ESPECIALLY, WHEN FULL TANK IS FULL. CALLED LOCAL DEALER AND MBUSA WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 15 YEAR ' FUEL LEAK' EXTENDED WARRANTY! PLEASE NOTE THE PUDDLING OF FUEL NEAR THE BOTTOM OF WIRE HARNESS IN PICTURE ATTACHED.
THIS HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED 2X ALREADY-I WAS STATIONARY AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. THERE WHERE MANY CARS BEHIND ME AND MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN IT FINALLY RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD . I WAS TERRIFIED. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY MOVING AND THEN JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BOTH TIMES AND SINCE NOTHING CAME UP ON MY DASH THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I AM TERRIFIED THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT A GOOD OUTCOME NEXT TIME. I FEEL MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TRIED TALKING TO MBUSA AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED THEY DID NOTHING. I WROTE A LETTER THEY DID NOTHING. I TOLD HOEHN MERCEDES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SOLD ME THE CAR NOTHING. 1ST TIME CAR WAS STATIONARY ON CITY STREET, 2ND TIME IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. GOING STRAIGHT. 2ND MECHANIC SAID HE HAD HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING BEFORE, RANDOM INCIDENT STARTER? I AM THE ORIGIONAL OWNER-PAID $60,000 FOR THIS CAR I CANNOT EVEN GET $5,000 FOR IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ E500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE STRUCK AN OBJECT AND CAUSED FOUR AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THE TIRE WAS DESTROYED ON IMPACT, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED AT ALL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT CALLED MERCEDES-BENZ OF COCONUT CREEK AT 954-406-1167 (LOCATED AT 4250 N. STATE ROAD 7, COCONUT CREEK, FL 33073) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S NUMBER AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE STRUCK AN OBJECT, WHICH CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT THE DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT SENT PICTURES OF THE TIRE, AIR BAGS, AND VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT CHANGE THE MANUFACTURER'S DECISION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AFTER TAKING A LONG TRIP UP TO SAN FRANCISCO WHEN I GOT HOME MY OIL TANK WAS LEAKING -THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM MY BACKSEAT. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED MY FUEL TANK BUT BEFORE THEY DID THAT THEY SENT ME ON THE ROAD WITHOUT FIXING AND NO RENTAL CAR. I THOUGHT I WOULD PASS OUT FROM THE SMELL OF GASOLINE. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN WHEN DRIVING WHAT? I DROVE MY CAR LIKE THAT FOR APPROX 1 WEEK BEFORE THE FUEL TANK CAME IN. THEY DID PAY FOR IT. I WAS CONCERNED IF I WHERE TO SMOKE IN THE CAR WHAT WOULD HAPPEN?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND BRAKE ROTORS, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE REDUCED BRAKING POWER LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND I HAD NO BRAKES. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, BUT MANAGED TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY AND MAKE IT TO THE BRAKE-DOWN LANE. THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING PRESSURE NEEDED SERVICING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
TAKATA RECALL. ABS MALFUNCTION, BRAKE SENSOR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ E500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME VERY LOOSE AND FAILED TO TURN. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE LOCAL DEALER (A BETTER WAY WHOLESALE, 423 WEBER AVE NAUGATUCK, CT) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
FUEL PUMP LEAKING FUMES (AND FUEL?). WHILE PARKED AND PREPARING TO COME HOME THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND THE CAR REFUSED TO START. IT WILL NOT BE REPAIRED UNLESS IT IS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM TRYING TO LEARN IF IT WILL BE COVERED UNDER A EXTENDED WARRANTY.
THE CAR WOULD NOT START FUEL PUMP FAULTY AND IS PART OF GAS TANK BAD DESIGN COST ME CLOSE TO $3800, SOME PAID BY MBZ. MBZ REPLACED 2009 GAS TANKS FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY BUT WOULD NOT DO MINE. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT IT SO I WOULD NOT BUY THE CAR. IT IS STUPID TO HAVE TO REPLACE GAS TANK IN ORDER TO REPLACE A FUEL PUMP IN 2012 I HAD GAS LEAKAGE FROM THE SAME AREA AND I PAID TO FIX IT THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS WOULD BE A PROBLEM. INSTEAD THEY KEPT SILENT WHEN I TAKE MY CAR FOR SERVICE THEY ALWAYS LIST OF THINGS TO DO SO I CAN SPEND MORE MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP WHY THE [XXX] NO BODY BOTHERED TO TELL ME ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THAT IT WOULD COST ME A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX . THIS CAR HAS COST OVER $60,000 TO BUY AND I DID NOT PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A CAR TO LAST ME ONLY 12 YEARS. MBZS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST 30 YEARS OR MORE SO IFEEL CHEATED BIG TIME I THINK THEY ARE HIDING THIS BECAUSE THEY WILL GET SUED BIG TIME AND I HOPE THEY DO BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MBZ COMPANY. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AS THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY AND IS PART OF THE TANK DESIGN. MBZ KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY REPAIRED OR REPLACED SOME OF THE CARS BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED TILL THE PROBLEM. IT COST ME UNDER $3,800 TO REPAIR AND REPLACE THE GAS TANK EVEN THOUGH THEY REPAIRED A LOT OF CARS. MY REPAIR WAS FINISHED ON 05/14/18. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
IN JANUARY 2018, MY CAR HAD DEVELOPED SBC MALFUNCTION ISSUES AND I TOOK IT TO THE AND THEY QUOTED ME $ 2,700+/- TO FIX THE ISSUE. I THEN CALLED MB USA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SBC UNIT WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED FOR 10YRS AND THAT I HAD JUST CROSSED THAT LIMIT. I THEN REACHED OUT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO AGREED TO REPLACE THE UNIT FOR $865 (PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED RECEIPT). I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE SBC UNIT FROM MB OF CLEAR LAKE FOR $1,045.70 . THUS, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR REPAIR AND SAVE MY SELF ABOUT $1,000 AS MB WAS NOT COVERING ITS REPAIR. ON SEPTEMBER 2018 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MB USA, INDICATING THAT THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS REIMBURSABLE. I REACHED OUT TO THE DEALER AND PROVIDED ALL THE DOCUMENTS THAT THEY REQUESTED. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR CAN BE REIMBURSED ONLY IF IT WAS DONE BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. I BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A FAIRWAY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WHEN ALL THE RELEVANT DOCUMENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR A LEGITIMATE REIMBURSABLE. MB I BELIEVE IS NOT ACTING IN GOOD FAITH AND I NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE IN RECOVERING MY DUE REFUND FOR A FAULTY SBC UNIT. WHEN THIS THRESHOLD IS REACHED THE BRAKE SYSTEM DEFAULTS TO NON POWER ASSISTED HYDRAULIC MODE TO THE FRONT WHEELS ONLY. THIS OCCURS WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING AND RESULTS IN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. I HAVE SENT A COPY OF THE MERCEDES SERVICE BULLETIN S142.46-P-0012A WHICH ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE. MERCEDES STOPPED INSTALLING THIS SYSTEM IN 2006. AT THE VERY LEAST, MERCEDES SHOULD ISSUE A MANDATORY RECALL TO INTERROGATE THESE VEHICLES WITH STAR DAS TO DETERMINE HOW CLOSE TO THE SERVICE THRESHOLD THE SBC UNIT IS AND REPLACE THEM AT THE DEALER'S EXPENSE. MY AIRBAGS SELF DEPLOYED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD JUST LEFT WORK AND DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON THE WEST SAM HOUSTON TOLLWAY APPROACHING THE TOLL STATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THERE WAS AN INCREDIBLY LOUD EXPLOSION AND AND HARD PERCUSSION AS THE AIRBAGS SELF DEPLOYED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN PUNCHED OR SHOT IN THE GUT. THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN DROPPED DOWN AND THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR BAG DEPLOYED. THE SEATBELT AROUND MY WAIST AND SHOULDER TIGHTENED. FORTUNATELY, I KEPT IT TOGETHER AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING, RUN OVER A POTHOLE, SWERVED OR OTHERWISE MAKE ANY SUDDEN DIRECTION CHANGE. I WAS IMMEDIATELY CALLED BY AN OPERATOR ON THE MERCEDES EMERGENCY SYSTEM WITHIN THE CAR. SO MERCEDES IS AWARE OF THE INCIDENT AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. SHE ASKED IF I NEEDED AN AMBULANCE OR POLICE. I TOLD HER THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED ON THEIR OWN AND THAT I WAS PHYSICALLY OK. ADDITIONALLY, I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO STAR MOTOR DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE LESS THAN 20 MINUTES AFTER IT OCCURRED. THE SERVICE ADVISER AND SOME OF THE TECHNICIANS QUICKLY LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE (IT WAS NEAR CLOSING TIME). THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT READ THE CODES OTHER THAN THE SRS FAULT. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WOULD LIKELY BE CHEAPER TO FIX AT A BODY SHOP THAN AT THE DEALER. I LATER FOUND THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SEATBELT HAD ALSO DEPLOYED AND WAS TIGHTENED.

PENSKE REFUSE TO HONOR THE REPLACEMENT OF MY FUEL TANK BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER, THE WARRANTY ONLY AFFECT ON THE PLASTIC TYPE OF FUEL TANK. IS THIS REALLY TRUE?
