WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK *MR
WHILE DRIVING 12 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND AS A RESULT THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHEST. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULLED OVER. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE REAR TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE REMAINING THREE TIRES SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED. *NM
CAR WOULD NOT IDLE AFTER STARTING. THANK GOD IT HAPPENED IN DRIVEWAY. TOWED TO DEALER, AND DEALER REPLACED IAC VALVE, AND CLEANED FUEL SYSTEM. CAR HAD 37974 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED USED ON 07/03/03, WAS CERTIFIED AS USED CAR, 33750 MILES. NOTICED INTERMITTENT TURN SIGNAL FLASHING WHEN PURCHASED. CHANGED BULBS, NO IMPROVEMENT. SHOULDN'T A SAFETY RECALL BE ISSUED INSTEAD OF A TSB ON THE IDLE PROBLEM? *AK
CONSUMER STATES SHE HAS AN IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE PROBLEM. SHE STATES THAT SOMETIMES WHEN SHE ATTEMPTS TO START HER VEHICLE, IT ACTS AS IF IT WANTS TO CUT OFF. THEN THERE ARE TIMES WHEN SHE IS DRIVING AND HAS TO STOP, THEN THE VEHICLE CUTS OFF. *PH THE CONSUMER TALKED TO ANOTHER CONSUMER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAD COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *SCC *JB
ATTORNEY REPRESENTED THE FAMILY OF WALLACE PETRO WHO HAD DIED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING A 2001 GRAND MARQUIS THE ATTORNEY ALLEGED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILED, AND CAUSED MR. PETRO TO BE EJECTED DURING THE ROLL OVER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER RECALL 01V227000. INFORMATION AS TOLD TO ODI. *AK *TC
THE VEHICLE WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. *AK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. *SCC *JB
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING.*MR THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN FIXED. THE CONSUMER HAD A WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THERE WAS JUST NO WAY TO FIX IT. *CB THE VEHICLE VIBRATED WHILE IN GEAR, WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. *JB
TURNING SIGNAL STARTED TO FLASHING REALLY FAST, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN. *NLM
CRUISE CONTROL MOVES GAS PEDAL RAPIDLY DOWN AND BACK UP AT A RATE OF 1 TO 2 OCCILATIONS PER SECOND, AT TIMES CAR CAN BE FELT TO JERK BACK AND FORTH. DEALER HAS MADE MANY ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE UNDER WARRENTY BUT NOW IS BEING TOLD THAT FORD WILL NO LONGER PAY FOR REPAIRS. I FEEL THIS MAY BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE CAR MAY ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROLL.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE SWAY BAR BROKE WHICH CAUSED THE REAR END TO LOCK UP. *JB
WHEN DRIVING WITH REAR WINDOWS DOWN, AND INITIATING THE CONTROLS TO RETURN THE REAR WINDOWS TO THEIR "CLOSED" POSITION, UPON THE REAR WINDOWS REACHING THE TOP CLOSED POSITION, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW OPENS PARTIALLY OR MAY OPEN FULLY ON IT'S OWN. ALSO WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ROLL ALL WINDOWS UP AT THE SAME TIME, THE CIRCUITRY BECOMES OVERLOADED AND ALL WINDOWS STOP AND WILL NOT MOVE FOR ABOUT 3 TO 5 MINUTES UNTIL THE CIRCUIT TIMER RESETS. *NLM
FATAL ACCIDENT IN 2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS RESULTING FROM VEHICLE ROLLOVER. THE HIGHWAY PATROL CONCLUDED THAT THE DRIVER WAS NOT WEARING SEAT BELT.*MR THE DRIVER WAS KILLED AS A RESULT OF INJURIES SUSTAINED WHEN HE WAS EJECTED FROM HIS VEHICLE. AFTER THE ACCIDENT DECEASED FAMILY LEARNED OF A SEAT BELT BUCKLE RECALL (01V227001). THE DECEASED HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED ON NOV 21 2002 AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE BUCKLE DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE ACCIDENT A FORD TOOL TEST WAS PERFORMED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BUCKLE HAD FAILED. *NM
2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS TRUNK CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE MORNING. WASN'T USED THAT MORNING. CAUSE OF FIRE UNKNOWN. *JB
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH. THE CONSUMER SWERVED TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE AND COLLIDED WITH A POST. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED CAUSING INJURY TO CONSUMER'S FACE THAT REQUIRED STICHES. *NLM
WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF, THE BACK DOORS FAILED TO OPEN, CONSUMER BELIEVED IT WAS THE WAY THE LATCH MECHANISM WAS DESIGNED.*JB
MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2001 WITH PEDAL ADJUSTER RAISED IN UP POSITION CAUSES THE CAR TO HAVE A BURNING BRAKE SMELL. WHEN THE PEDALS ARE IN A RASIED POSITION, AND THE CAR IS DRIVEN FOR 30 TO 60 MINUTES, THE SMELL IS THAT OF BURNING BRAKES. DEALER HAS CHECKED ONCE AND CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM.
FOR ABOUT A MONTH, BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH 2001 MERCURY MARQUIS. IT WOULD START, DIE, START DIE, ETC. THE PROBLEM BECAME WORST AND I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE. WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE DIRTY AND THAT THE INJECTOR MOTOR WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED AT 30,000 MILES. I SAID THAT IT WAS NOT LISTED IN MY SERVICE MANUAL. THE SERVICE MANAGER KNEW THAT BUT AGAIN STATED THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT 30,000 MILES. ABOUT 15 MINUES LATER ANOTEHR MERCURY MARQUIS CAME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY AT WORK I LEARNED THAT A FRIEND WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HER MERCURY MARQUIS. SO DID FORD FORGET TO LIST FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING IN THE SERVICE MANUAL? DT
THE VEHICLE WAS HIT IN THE FRONT CENTER YET THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH CAUSED INJURIES TO THE CONSUMER. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *TS *NLM
CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE ACCELERATION STOPPED BY ITSELF ON ATTEMPTS TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. WHEN ON CRUISE GOING UP A HILL, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE RAPIDLY WHEN HOLDING THE ACCELERATOR UP.*SCC *JB
REAR BRAKES LOCK UP DURING A PANIC STOP AT 45-50 MPH, TIRES WERE THUMPING AND VEHICLE PULLS TO EITHER SIDE. DEALER EXAMINED VEHICLE AND FOUND NO PROBLEM. TS *JB *DT
CONSUMER STATES THAT AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE,TAPPED LIGHTLY ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED AND WENT THROW SEVERAL OBSTACLES BEFORE STOPPING. MR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MR
CONSUMER STATES THAT WAS INVOLVED ON A COLLISION AND THE DRIVERS AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOYED.DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. NLM DURING THE ACCIDENT THE DRIVER WAS INJURED. *YH
CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHEN COLD, DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THE TIMING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALSO THE DASHBOARD VIBRATED, HOWEVER DEALER STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG, THE TRIM PANEL WAS LOOSE ON THE DOOR, THE LEFT FRONT DOOR CLOSED TOO HARD, THE VEHICLE WOULD LEAN TO THE LEFT AND THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING A CORNER, DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT FRAME SUPPORTS, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS SCRATCHED, THE STEERING COLUMN TRIM WAS REPLACED, THE RADIO HAD A POOR RECEPTION, THERE WAS A PULSATION COMING FROM THE BRAKES, HOWEVER THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY GAVE A JERK AND ENGINE DIED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. CONSUMER FELT IF THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. *AK THE VEHICLE HAS JERKED SEVERAL MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. THE DEALER CONDUCTED NUMEROUS TESTS BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE. THE ENGINE HAS NOT DIED SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. *JG
WHY ONE AIRBAG (RIGHT) DEPLOYED AND NOT THE DRIVERS AIR BAG. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL, DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SAID THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM IN A PARKING LOT, IN WHICH HE COULDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME ENOUGH. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED CHEST INJURIES. *SCC
VEHICLE DEVELOPS MAJOR VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL AT 65+MPH GOING OVER LIGHTLY BUMPY AND HEAVILY BUMPY ROADS.........FEELS LIKE LOSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE......PROBLEM DUPLICATED DURING TEST DRIVE BY SENIOR MAINT MGR AT DEALERSHIP.......EXISTING TSB ON THIS ISSUE.....SERVICE WRITER AT DEALER CLAIMS OTHER THAN BALANCING WHEELS.....FORD HAS NOT COME UP WITH SOLUTION...THEY ARE WORKING ON IT.....VEHICLE NO LONGER DRIVABLE ON FREEWAYS OR AT HIGHWAY SPEED*AK
THREAD SEPARATED AND BLEW OFF LEFT FRONT TIRE. UPON EXAMINATION BY GOODYEAR TIRE DEALERS AND MYSELF IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD SEPARATED TO THE POINT OF THREAD BLOW OFF IMMINENT. THE TWO REAR TIRES WERE DETERMINED TO BE IN THE MIDDLE STAGES OF THREAD SEPERATION AS THREAD HAD BUBBLES OF SEPERATION BEGGINING TO SHOW AND WOULD FAIL AT UNKNOWN TIME, BUT WOULD FAIL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AND UPON BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY CONSUMERS FOOT SLIPPED OFF GAS PEDAL, COULD NOT FIND BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP VEHICLE. CONSUMER HIT A PARKED VEHICLE.*AK CONSUMERS FOOT BECAME ENGAGED WITH THE LEDGE OF THE GAS PEDAL AS HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO PUT ON BRAKES WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. *JG
WE WERE LUCKY. THE ACCELERATOR NOT ONLY STUCK, BUT SNAPPED DOWN AGAINST THE FLOOR BOARD. LUCKILY, I WAS DRIVING, NOT MY 70+ YEAR OLD MOTHER, AND WE WERE ON AN OPEN ROAD WITH NO PEOPLE OR OBJECTS IN FRONT OF US. EVEN SO, WE WERE DOING APPOX. 80 MPH BEFORE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF THE KEY. THE DEALERSHIP DID A GOOD JOB. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE "WIRING HARNESS AT LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE HAD SOMEHOW GOTTEN INTO THE ACCELERATOR MECHANISM CAUSING THE GAS PEDAL TO STICK DOWN. THOUGH THEY FIXED OURS, IT BOTHERS ME TO THINK OF ALL THE TERRIBLE THINGS THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE SITUTION BEEN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. I FILE THIS REPORT IN THE HOPE OF PREVENTING THAT "TERRIBLE" ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE. OTHER THAN THIS, ITS HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR*AK.
WHILE DRIVING IN SLEET AND SNOW STORM WINDSHIELD WIPERS FROZE AND STOPPED WORKING. WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES WERER VERY THIN. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE ADD VIN. *AK

2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS.. SUDDEN ENGINE ACCELERATION. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AT A RAPID RATE AND HAD TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO RETURN TO NORMAL IDLE. FORTUNATELY DRIVER HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE. *AK
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT UNLATCHES FREQUENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. MY HUSBAND HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE ONE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND HAS IGNORED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I AM DRIVING THE CAR ON A DAILY BASIS NOW AND I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VIN. HELP!! CONSUMER STOPPED THE CAR AND WHEN GETTING BACK IN COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF GEAR UNTIL AFTER TURNING THE MOTOR OFF. AS CONSUMER APPROACHED THE TRAFFIC LIGHT, HE USED THE BRAKES TO SLOW TO A STOP. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE VEHICLE JOLTED FORWARD OUT OF CONTROL. *JG
BRAKE PEDAL AND ACELERATOR PEDAL ARE TO CLOSE TOGETHER AND ON THE SAME PLANE.TWICE ,THE CAR DEVELOPED A RUN AWAY CONDITION WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES,I WAS PUSHING ON THE BRAKES AND HITTING THE ACELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME.THE REAR TIRES WERE BURNING RUBBER.HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE CAR.BROUGHT THIS PROBLEM TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER TO NO AVAIL. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE THE POWER TRAIN WILL LOCK UP OR GO INTO A SEVERE STRAIN SIMILAR TO BRAKES BEING LOCKED. OCCASSIONALLY THE CAR WILL SURGE FORWARD EVEN THOUGH THE TRANS INDICATOR IS IN THE REVERSE POSITION.
