5/9/2021 The SRS dashboard light came on with a bell warning. Bell quits after a short time but the light stays on solid. When turning ignition on, light and bell comes on, blinks 3 times, does this 6 times and then stays on solid. When driving hear bell for 5 times, this repeats later for a total of 5 times. After turning the ignition switch on/off I hear a sound from under the driver or passenger seat. The passenger side air bag light does light. I bought this car new.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING FOR 2 MINUTES, THE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE WITH AN AUDIBLE BEEP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RON TIRAPELLI FORD, INC. (4355 W JEFFERSON ST, SHOREWOOD, IL 60404) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT IN STOCK, SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER UNREPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND BLINKS CODE 3 3 THEN DINGS AN ALARM 5 DINGS X 5 TIMES EVERY 30 MINUTES, LIGHT STAYS ON. I UNDERSTAND CODE 33 OR 34 ARE SEAT BELT PRETENTIONERS THAT ARE KNOWN TO FAIL ON MID 2000'S FORD VEHICLES. MINE IS 2006 GRAND MARQUIS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN MATERIALS CAUSING A SAFTEY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND PASSENGERS. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED UNTIL REPAIRED AND THE REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A DRIVER SIDE PRETENTIONER HIGH RESISTANCE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THEY REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SINCE THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL MOST LIKELY ALSO FAIL SOON ACCORDING TO HIS EXPERIANCE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED TO HAVE PRETENSIONERS REPLACED SINCE IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD CAUSED BY FORD PARTS.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND HAS A DINGING NOISE THAT GOES THROUGH A CYCLE OF DINGING 5 TIMES THEN HAS BREAK OF APPROXIMATELY 15 MIN THEN DOES IT AGAIN. HAS NOT BEEN IN ACCIDENT AND SHOWS NO SIGN OF PROBLEM WITH ACTUAL PARTS.

TAMARA I JUST LOVE THIS CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY HAVE TO MAKE CHEAPER CARS AN SMALLER TRUNKS. ANY WAY ON DRIVER SIDE THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. AN AS I'M TRYING TO GET SOMEWHERE. THAN THE BEEPING NOISE STARTS UP RANDOMLY AN IT CAN GET ON YOUR NERVES. BUT IF I TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIPS I CAN'T AFFORD THEIR PRICES. THANKYOU. OH I LOVE HOW BIG THE TRUNK IS.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON VEHICLE WHEN OPENING DOOR, TOOK TO PRIVATE SHOP AND DEALER FUTURE FORD OF ROSEVILLE AND BOTH STATES IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. CALLED FORD ON THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER AND STATED SINCE IT'S NOT A NTSB RECALL THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO FIX. ERROR IS THAT TENSIONER SPRING OR/AND CANISTER IN TENSIONER IS OVER SENSITIVE AND WILL LIKELY FAIL AND CAUSE A HIGH OHM READING TO THE COMPUTER, CAUSING ERROR LIGHT ON, TO BLINK 3-3 FOR DRIVER SIDE OR 3-4 FOR PASSENGER, AND DISABLING AIRBAGS. DEALERSHIP IS BACK LOGGED ON ORDERS FOR NEW SEATBELT ASSEMBLIES, THAT IN SOME CASES MAY TAKE OVER TWO WEEKS FOR ORDER TO CLEAR. ASSEMBLIES ARE FAULTY BY DESIGN. NTSB SHOULD INVESTIGATE FORD AND MAKE A MANDATORY RECALL FOR THIS AND SIMILAR MODELS AND MULTIPLE YEARS THAT USE THIS ASSEMBLY TYPE, SINCE THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY RISK, AND A DESIGN FAULT.

AT 68669 MILES THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. MECHANIC NOW SAYS THE DRIVER SIDE PRETENSIONER IS BAD. THIS AUTOMOBILE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. FIRST INCIDENT 9/16/16. AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, SAME SEQUENCE REPEATED FIVE TIMES AFTER WARDS IT STAYED ON. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO A WARNING BEEP SOUNDED. THE BEEPS WERE IN A SEQUENCE OF 5 BEEPS WHICH REPEATED FIVE TIMES THEN REPEATED AGAIN EVERY HALF HOUR WHILE DRIVING.. MECHANIC REPLACED THE WHOLE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY - $800.00. A YEAR LATER - SAME PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I REFUSE TO PAY ANOTHER $800. I TOOK OUT THE FUSE THAT SOUNDED THE BEEP ALARM AS IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY. *TR
NO ACCIDENT, 2/23/16, THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIMES ACTIVATED WHEN CAR STARTED AND CONTINUED WHILE CAR RAN. VERY DISTRACTING. ALSO, ONCE, THE 'AIR BAG OFF LIGHT' NEAR TOP OF GLOVE COMPARTMENT CAME ON. CHECKED NHTSA SITE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT AIR BAGS/SEAT BELT TENSIONERS, AND AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING WHICH IS WHY I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT. -- THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD, WHY NO RECALL? MY 17 YEAR OLD SLID OFF ROAD IN SNOW STORM, HIT TREE HEAD ON, CENTER OF BUMPER CONTACT, BUMPER REINFORCEMENT BAR DRIVEN INTO RADIATOR, BOTH FRAME RAILS BENT, YET NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT TOOK PLACE.
ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2015 I PURCHASED A USED 2006 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LS. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. I SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LOWER FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, NOT RESULTING IN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND TO DETERMINE IF THERE HAD BEEN AN AIRBAG RECALL BY THE NHTSA, I FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN 57 REGISTERED COMPLAINTS ON THE REPAIR PAL WEBSITE AND THAT A COMPLAINT HAD ALSO BEEN FILED WITH THE NHTSA.FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE SEAT-BELT ASSEMBLIES. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AS IT EFFECTS THE PROPER FUNCTIONALITY OF THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
