I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGE DONE AND WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE REAR STABILIZER BAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS BROKEN AND A SECTION OF IT WAS HANGING DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY PLACED IT ON THE RACK AND CONFIRMED THIS INFORMATION. THE BROKEN STABILIZER BAR WAS REMOVED AND AN ORDER PLACED FOR THE NEW PART. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT "THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ABUSE" AND THAT THEY JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS! *TR
WAS TURNING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A POPPING NOISE. WHEN I STOPPED TO LOOK, I NOTICED A BLACK BAR OR HOSE HANGING FROM THE BACK DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION AREA. AFTER RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THE SWAY BAR BREAKAGE IS A COMMON ISSUE ON THIS YEAR AND MODEL. WE JACKED THE CAR UP AND SAW RUST ON THE HOSE. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT NISSAN THIS MORNING AND THEY JUST CALLED TO CONFIRM THIS IS THE SWAY BAR. IT IS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
I OWN A NISSAN ALTIMA WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT HAS FAILED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ACCELERATION IS NEEDED. THE CAR RPM'S RUN UP AT THE SAME TIME AND THE CAR CAN NOT ACCELERATE OVER 40-45 MPH. I HAVE FOUND OUT NISSAN HAS HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THESE TRANSMISSION FROM 2007 ON. NISSAN WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK, SHOULDER, WRIST, AND NECK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 93,000.
BACK IN 2012 MY NISSAN ALTIMA STARTER SWITCH FAILED TO WORK. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP LOCATION AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON MARCH 15, 2015, THE CAR EXHIBITED THE SAME ISSUE, STARTER SWITCH FAILED TO WORK AGAIN. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO AGAIN HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME PART, THE BRAKE LIKE SWITCH. I SUSPECT THAT THERE ARE MORE NISSAN VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER MODELS AND BE TESTED FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE STARTER/BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. ...UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF UPDATED 11/27/2017*CN
VALVE STEM ON THE TPMS POPPED OFF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT WAS CORRODED. CAUSES CATASTROPHIC TIRE DEFLATION AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. FACTORY TPMS VALVE STEMS SHOULD BE REPLACED FROM ALUMINUM TO SOMETHING MORE RESISTANT TO CORROSION. OTHER THREE TIRE VALVE STEMS ARE CORRODED AS WELL AND MAY BECOME AS HAZARDOUS WHEN DRIVING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND KEPT HEARING NOISE WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO MY HOUSE TO PARK AND I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING IN MY TRUNK AND I LET IT GO ON, I FIGURE I WOULD TAKE IT OUT WHAT EVER IT WAS, WELL WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING IN MY TRUCK THAT WAS MOVING AROUND I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE REAR SWAY BAR. I WAS JUST DRIVING NORMALLY AND THE SWAY BAR ON REAR PASSENGER SIDE SNAPPED AND BROKE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, THE COST IS ASTRONOMICAL AT AROUND 500 DOLLARS. *TR
PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND MERGED INTO A LEFT HAND TURN LANE. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP I NOTICED BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. MY CAR THEN CAUGHT FIRE AND IT WAS LATER TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE PREVIOUS DAY I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY CHANGED MY OIL/FILTER AND CHANGED A PART THAT WAS RECALLED (DEALING WITH LEAKING BRAKE FLUIDS).... COINCIDENCE (SARCASM MEANT)??? *TR
THE REAR STABILIZER BAR SNAPPED IN HALF DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS - NO FAST CORNERS, POTHOLES, BUMPS, ETC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE JUMPED A CURVE AND HIT A TREE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST INJURIES DO TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER MANUFATCURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DECIDED TO SEND OUT AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,141.
TURNING INTO A STORE PARKING LOT AND THE REAR SWAY BAR JUST BROKE. *TR
I NOTICED A PIECE HANGIDNG DOWN FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF MY 2007 ALTIMA. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED I NEEDED NEW SWAY BARS AND LINKS. IN ADDITION, I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE MY MASTER CYLINDER AND ROTORS ALL FOR A WHOPPING $1013.00. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL, BUT THAT THE DEFECT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY ROTORS WHICH I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO FROM A DEALER, I HAVE ALWAYS MADE SURE MY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WAS TAKEN CARE OF, AND MOST OF THE MILES ON MY VEHICLE ARE HIGHWAY MILES ( 69,500 TOTAL MILES),. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND VERY CAREFUL WHEN I DRIVE. I AM MORTIFIED AT THIS BILL AND THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PUT INTO PLACE FOR THE SWAY BAR, AS I SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH 2007 ALTIMAS IN PARTICULAR. *TR
SIMILAR TO MANY OTHERS, I NOTICED A PIECE HANGING DOWN FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE SWAY BAR. IT HAD JUST BROKEN IN HALF. THIS APPARENTLY HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MANY OWNERS OF THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A DEFECT, AND COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I HAPPENED TO NOTICE A METAL PIECE HANGING DOWN. SWAY BAR HAD SNAPPED AND WAS DANGLING. HIGHWAY DRIVING AND RARELY A BUMP. MUST BE MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND JUDGING FROM MULTIPLE REPORTS WITH SIMILAR STORIES, MUST BE DEALT WITH. DEALER REPORTS NO CONTACT DAMAGE OR COMPROMISE IN BREAK AREA. MANUFACTURE DEFECT. *TR
LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAW SOMETHING HANGING FROM THE BOTTOM. BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT THE SWAY BAR, SOMETIMES CALLED THE STABILIZER BAR, BROKE IN HALF. THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2007. *TR
REAR STABILIZER BAR (AKA SWAY BAR) SNAPPED ON DRIVER'S SIDE. WAS TURNING RIGHT FROM A STOP AND HEARD A "SPRUNG" NOISE BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A SMALL POTHOLE. A WEEK LATER, NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING UNDER THE CAR - IT WAS PART OF THE BAR. NO RUST UNDER THE CAR WHATSOEVER - FAILURE DUE TO CORROSION WOULD BE HIGHLY UNLIKELY. METAL FATIGUE, MANUFACTURER DEFECT, OR UNDER-ENGINEERED SUSPENSION DESIGN ARE MORE LIKELY. BODY ROLL A BIT MORE PRONOUNCED THAN BEFORE THE INCIDENT, BUT VEHICLE IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. CAR OUT OF WARRANTY. PURCHASED AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT PART AND WILL BE INSTALLING IT MYSELF. *TR
SLOWLY ENTERING HOME GARAGE. BRAKING. VEHICLE ABRUPTLY ACCELERATED INTO GARAGE STRIKING AND DESTROYING WORK BENCH AND DAMAGING REAR GARAGE WALL. LEFT RUBBER BURN MARKS WHERE FRONT (DRIVE) WHEELS SPUN AFTER IMPACT AND DRAG MARKS ON FLOOR WHERE REAR WHEELS WERE LOCKED UP AND DRAGGING. FILLED GARAGE AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF CAR WITH SHEET ROCK DUST FROM THE IMPACT WITH THE INTERIOR WALL. DO NOT RECALL WHEN ENGINE RETURNED TO IDLE BUT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND BACK AWAY FROM DAMAGE AREA. CAR WAS DRIVABLE AND OPERATED NORMALLY AFTER RESTARTING. DEALER ESTIMATED DAMAGE TO CAR AT $2667.99, REPORTED INCIDENT TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WAS ASSIGNED CASE #[XXX]. I WILL NOW DRIVE THE CAR WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND DISCOURAGE MY WIFE FROM DRIVING IT. WAITING FOR RESPONSE BY NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE, WHICH WAS PROMISED WITHIN TWO WORKING DAYS. THE DRIVER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE REAR SWAY BAR ON MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA IS BROKEN. I DRIVE LESS THAN 6,000 MILES PER YEAR, AND RARELY IN BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS, BUT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA SWAY BAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN NOT DRIVING THAT MANY MILES (I ONLY KNEW TO HAVE IT CHECKED BECAUSE I PARKED ON A HILL AND COULD SEE SOMETHING HANGING FROM MY CAR. OTHERWISE, WITH THE LIMITED NUMBER OF MILES I DRIVE, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD MY CAR CHECKED, AND WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING A HAZARDOUS VEHICLE THIS WHOLE TIME). *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A CURB, THROUGH A FENCE, AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. NOTICED THE REAR SWAY BAR WAS BROKEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. NO INDICATION OF EXCESSIVE CORROSION OR DAMAGE FROM HITTING ANYTHING. CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. CAR IS DRIVEN BY A SENIOR WITH USUALLY 1 PASSENGER OR LESS AROUND TOWN. NO EVIDENCE THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BROKEN. NISSAN IS REVIEWING THE CASE NOW. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BLOWER AND THE CABLES TO THE BATTERY WERE REPLACED BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I HEARD A BANG, AND THEN THE CAR STARTED MAKE A NOISE LIKE THE EXHAUST LET GO, AND VIBRATED WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN SOME SPEED, SO WHEN I GOT IT CHECKED OUT IT CAME OUT TO BE THE SWAY BAR BROKE ON THE DRIVER SIDE, I TAKE CARE OF MY CAR AND SOMETHING LIKE THAT SHOULDN'T JUST BREAK, EVEN IF YOU DO HIT A BUMP, I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET AND CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM BUT NISSAN WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I ALWAYS HAVE MY 3 YEAR OLD LITTLE BOY IN THE CAR, I WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE VERY FAR WITH IT BROKEN BUT I AM TRYING TO GET SOME ANSWERS FIRST, WHY DID THIS HAPPEN, A PART LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T JUST BREAK. THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE SWAY BAR HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND MADE A RIGHT TURN WHEN MY FAMILY AND I HEARD A POP. I DID NOT HIT A POTHOLE OR ANYTHING UNUSUAL. DID NOT REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED UNTIL A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN I WENT TO MY MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE STRUTS AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE SWAY BAR WAS BROKEN. FOR NO REASON IT BROKE AND I THINK THAT IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD MAKE THIS PART A RECALL. I LOVE OBVIOUSLY NISSAN BECAUSE IN MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY WE OWN THREE OF THEM. I LOVE TO CONTINUE TO BE A NISSAN OWNER, BUT IF THEY CANNOT CONTINUE TO MAKE RELIABLE CARS, WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE OUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. I DROPPED IT OFF TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, AND THE NEXT THING I RECEIVE A PHONE CALL TELLING ME MY REAR SWAY BAR IS BROKE. THEY SAID IT HAS RUSTED AWAY, AND THAT THIS IS A MORE THEN COMMON REASON IN THE 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. I VERIFIED THIS ON THE INTERNET WITH MANY ARTICLES. *TR

THE CONTACT PULLED THE BAR AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE AND REALIZED THAT IT WAS THE SWAY BAR. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. HEARD UNUSUAL NOISES UNDER THE CAR AND STOPPED BY FOR MECHANIC TO TAKE A LOOK. HE REPORTED THAT THE REAR SWAY BAR HAS SNAPPED AT THE CONNECTION POINT WITH NO SIGN OF DAMAGE OTHERWISE TO THE BAR. I AM BASICALLY THE ONLY DRIVER OF THIS CAR AND THERE IS NO REASON WHATSOEVER WHY THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I SEE FROM RESEARCHING ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 ALTIMA - THE BAR IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN. AND I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE ESTIMATED COST OF $500 TO HAVE IT FIXED. *TR
THE REAR STABILIZER BAR ON MY 2007 ALTIMA BROKE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I WAS TRAVELING 55MPH IN A CURVE ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE STABILIZER BAR I FOUND THAT IT WAS HOLLOW. I HAVE FOUND A HOST OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THE SAME MODEL SWAY BAR BREAKING. *TR
MY BRAKE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE SAID THAT I AM LEAKING BREAK FLUID FROM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE IS IN REFERENCE TO THE ACTION #PE11020. *TR
WHILE HAVING MY OIL CHANGED, THE MECHANIC POINTED OUT TO ME THAT THE LEFT REAR SWAY BAR WAS BROKEN. DESPITE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT BROKEN SWAY BARS, NISSAN HAS NOT INITIATED A SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
I AM REQUESTING THAT DOT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THE DRIVER'S CONTRIBUTION TO A LEAK WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND TO REQUEST THAT DOT NHTSA FORCE NISSAN TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS 2007ALTIMA 27K MILES THIS LEAK CAUSES LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. WHEN ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID IS LOSS, THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOT ABLE TO GENERATE ENOUGH PRESSURE TO SQUEEZE THE BRAKE PAD TO THE BRAKE ROTORS. END RESULT IS THAT THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE CANNOT STOP THE CAR (NO BRAKES!!!). THIS POSES SERIOUS DANGER TO THE VEHICLE OPERATOR, ITS PASSENGERS AND THE PUBLIC. PLEASE FORMALLY INVESTIGATE AND WHEN FOUND VALID, FORCE NISSAN TO DO A RECALL. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: IT STARTED WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNING ON THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES, TURN OFF. ALL THE WHILE MY BRAKES STARTS TO DIMINISH. I LOOKED THE BRAKES SYSTEM AND FOUND THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS LOW. TOPPED IT OFF AND EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL.AROUND 60 DAYS LATER, BRAKE LIGHT AGAIN TURNED ON AND A FEW MINUTES TURNED OFF. SAME PROBLEM. I HAD IT CHECKED WITH A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC. HE??S CONCLUSION IS THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS A LEAK AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. A 5 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 27K MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER. HELLO IN FEBRUARY 2012 MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A PREOWNED 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. WE LOVE THE CAR BUT THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CUTS OFF WITH ANY SIZE PERSON I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THERE ISSUE BEING I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS IS SO I CONTACTED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO RUN THE VIN TO SEE IF IT WAS A POSSIBLE RECALL AND THE ONLY RECALL LISTED FOR MY CAR WAS THE KEY FOB. I KNOW THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD BUT NO ONE WILL HELP ME FIND A SOLUTION. *TR
2007 NISSAN ALTIMA - MY DASHBOARD BRAKE WARNING LIGHT SPORADICALLY FLASHED ON AND OFF BEGINNING A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NEARBY NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE, PRIOR TO INSPECTION, SHARED THAT THE WARNING LIGHT MIGHT INDICATE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MIGHT BE LEAKING AND THE BRAKES MIGHT BE GOOD. THE SERVICE MECHANIC OBSERVED THAT BRAKE FLUID LEVELS WERE LOW AND DUE TO THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER. THE BRAKE PADS WERE GOOD. THE MECHANIC ADDED BRAKE FLUID. THE DASHBOARD BRAKE WARNING LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING. I WAS QUITE SURPRISED THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER HAD A GOOD IDEA THAT THERE WAS A MASTER CYLINDER LEAK. I ASKED HIM ABOUT IT. HE SAID THAT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKS WERE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. I AM TAKING THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT FACILITY FOR ANOTHER BRAKE INSPECTION AND REPAIR, IF NECESSARY. *TR
BRAKE FLUID LEAKING. BRAKE LIGHT TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
I WAS TAKING THE CAR TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE SWAY BAR HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. HE SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART AND RUSTED THROUGH DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS HOLLOW - HE EXPLAINED IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE OVER 30 MPH WITH A DEFECTIVE SWAY BAR. IT IS MY OPINION THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS. *KB
BRAKE PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF AFTER THE CAR WARMED UP. MY BRAKES FAILED TO WORK, THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. COME TO FIND OUT THE BRAKE FLUID HAS LEAKED OUT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE NISSAN DEALER SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS BEFORE ON 2007 ALTIMA VEHICLES. THE BRAKE PROBLEM LIGHT SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON, THIS IS VERY MISLEADING AND VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE LIGHT GO OFF AFTER A WHILE. *TR
I DIDN'T NOTICE THE SWAY BAR WAS BROKE UNTIL MY HUSBAND WAS FOLLOWING ME HOME ONE NIGHT FROM WORK AND SAW THE RIGHT SIDE HANGING DOWN. *TR
I WAS JUST NOTIFIED THAT MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A BROKEN SWAY BAR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS ONLINE OF THIS HAPPENING TO 2007 ALTIMAS, YET THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED CLAIMS THEY'VE NEVER SEEN ONE BREAK BEFORE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS/TOWING/DRIVING CONDITIONS THAT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO BREAK. I DRIVE 8 MILES PER DAY THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I'M DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF MINE (AND OTHERS') ALTIMAS. *TT

MY BRAKE LIGHT RANDOMLY TURNS ON/OFF REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED I AM GOING. ALSO WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, IT IS DEFINITELY A ROUGH AND JAGGED SLOW DOWN, COMPARED TO PREVIOUSLY OWNED VEHICLES. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ISSUE, OTHERWISE THEIR REPUTATION MAY SUFFER FROM THIS. I AM HOPING WORD OF MOUTH AND INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH WILL RESULT IN MORE DOCUMENTED INCIDENTS, AND THE NHTSA WILL GRANT A LONG AWAITED RECALL. *TR
UPON INSPECTION OF AN UNKNOWN METAL TUBE HANGING VISIBLY NEXT TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL, I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE SWAY BAR HAD DETERIORATED AND BROKE. IT IS A VERY POORLY DESIGNED HOLLOW TUBE STEEL. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROX 43,000 MILES ON IT. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON YET UNADRESSED ISSUE WITH NISSAN. *TR
THE LEFT REAR STABILIZER BAR FAILED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TT
THE DASH BOARD APPEARS TO BE FALLING APART. IT HAS BECOME SHINY, STICKY, AND HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT CAN BE SEEN ALL OVER THE DASH AND THEY ARE GETTING WORSE WITH TIME. MY VEHICLE IS PARKED IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SIMPLE WEAR AND TEAR BUT A DEFECT WITH THE MATERIAL USED TO CONSTRUCT THE DASH. THIS IS ULTIMATELY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE GLARE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT TIMES CAN CAUSE YOU TO BE UNABLE TO SEE OUT YOUR FRONT WINDSHIELD.
THE STABILIZER SWAY BAR FOR THE NISSAN ALTIMA JUST BROKE ON ITS OWN UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. I WAS JUST DRIVING GOING SPEED LIMIT ON A LOCAL ROAD AND THE BAR SNAPPED. ALTHOUGH I HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE 4 YEARS AGO, THE CAR STILL RAN SMOOTHLY BECAUSE IT WAS MINOR. THE BAR SNAPPED ON ITS OWN AND WE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH CARE. *KB
THE BRAKE LIGHT ON MY CAR CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE BRAKES AND WAS TOLD THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 MODEL. IT SEEMED TOO NEW A VEHICLE TO NEED SUCH A REPAIR. THE COST WAS 638.95 TO REPAIR IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, AND STARTED DRIVING IT AGAIN AFTER THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, THE BRAKES WERE WORSE THAN BEFORE. PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THEY HAD INSTALLED THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE NEW ONE WASN'T HOLDING PRESSURE, SO I HAD NO BRAKES. ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED FROM MY VEHICLE. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER YET AGAIN. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT THE MASTER CYLINDERS WERE NEEDING REPLACEMENT IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL QUITE FREQUENTLY, BUT A RECALL HAS NOT YET BEEN ISSUED ON THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, I AM ADDING MY COMPLAINT TO THE LIST TOWARD THAT END. *TR
AFTER NOTICING THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT WAS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR A COUPLE WEEKS, I TOOK IT TO MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. WHILE SERVICING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY HAD SERVICED A NUMBER OF NISSAN ALTIMAS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. MY SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT THERE IS AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT NISSAN MAY ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
REAR SWAY BAR HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN IN HALF WITH THE RIGHT SIDE DANGLING DOWN AND DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE BAR OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE BREAK. *TR
