ASIDE FROM HOW TERRIBLE IT LOOKS, IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN. THE SURFACE IS STICKY + GLOSSY, THE FUMES + ODOR ARE TOXIC & THE REAL DANGER IS THE BLINDING GLARE REFLECTING UP ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN THE DAYTIME. WE READ ABOUT THE RECALL IN FLORIDA ONLY, BUT LAST WE CHECKED, THE SUN SHINES ACROSS ALL 50 STATES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF YUBA CITY (1340 BRIDGE ST, YUBA CITY, CA 95993, (530) 923-4548) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 36535317 AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,194.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THE STICKINESS FROM THE MELTED DASHBOARD CREATES A GLARE THAT CAN MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT TIMES. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
ONE DAY DRIVING ON A NORMAL DAY ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN MY AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTED TO BLINK REPEATEDLY, IT HASNT STOPPED SINCE. CAR HAS A CLEAN TITLE AND AIR BAGS WERE NEVER DEPLOYED.
THIS CAR IS DRIVEN ABOUT 5000 MILES PER YEAR. AT 5 YEARS/25000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY WHILE IN MOTION FAILED, LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE ROAD. THAT TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT 10 YEARS/50000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY FAILED AGAIN, AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION, LEAVING ME ONCE MORE STRANDED ON THE ROAD. THAT TRANSMISSION ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOW 12 YEARS/60000 MILES AND TODAY THIS TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO SLIP AND MAKE A WHIRRING NOISE. (THIS IS THE DATE I HAVE USED BELOW)

I HEARD ON THE RADIO THAT ANYBODY THAT GOT A CRACK IN THEIR WINDSHIELD ON I10 IS TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THAT PART OF THE HIGHWAY IS RIDICULOUS, I HAVE CRACKS. IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS RAINING STONES ON I10.
WITH AN ADULT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT OCCASIONALLY ILLUMINATES. IF THE PASSENGER LIFTS ALL THEIR WEIGHT OFF THE SEAT CUSHION THE LIGHT GOES OUT.
I BOUGHT A USED 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA, IT DRIVE FINE FOR THE TEST DRIVE I STARTED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO BRING IT HOME IT STARTED JERKING REAL BAD AND THEN WHEN I GOT TO 40 MPH THE RPMS STARTED DROPPING SO I COULDN'T GO FASTER THEN 20MPH SO I TOOK IT TO A SHOP IT SAID THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE FIXED ON IT , I STARTED DOING SEARCHES IN IT SAID THAT FOR THOSE MAKE IN MODELS OF CARS IT SAID THE TRANSMISSIONS WERE BAD IN TO HAVE A RECALL DONE
INTELLIGENT KEY WARNING LIGHT IS ON WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND IT WON'T START OR DO ANYTHING, THAT IS A SHAME Y'ALL DON'T HAVE NO TYPE OF RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF 2007-2012 HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND Y'ALL ARE NOT DOING GOOD ANYTHING. THE DASHBOARD IN MY CAR IS SLOWLY BREAKING DOWN. THE COMPOSITION OF THE MATERIALS HAS DEGRADED, OVER TIME, SO BAD THAT IT HAS LOST ITS SURFACE TEXTURE IN AREAS AND IS NOW SMOOTH AND HIGHLY SHINY/REFLECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IS STICKY. THERE IS A SUBSTANCE SEEPING OUT FROM THE SEAMS IN THE DASHBOARD THAT CAN NOT BE REMOVED. IT CREATES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING AND GETS WORSE IN THE HOT SUNNY WEATHER.
TAKATA RECALL. CAR AIRBAG CENSOR NOT WORKING. ALWAYS KEEP BLINKING. GONE TO CORAL SPRINGS NISSAN DEALER. AS PER THEM WHOLE SEAT CUISINE ON PASSENGER SITE NEED REPLACEMENT. THEY HAVE 2 OPINION. AS PER MR. BRANDON ONLY PASSENGER SITE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK. AS PER SHIA BOTH OF AIRBAG NOT GOING TO WORK. IT IS DANGERS AND COST FOR THAT IS AROUND $ 2100.00. I KEEP ON CHANGING TYRE PRESSURE CENSOR MANY TIME. BUT THIS IS REDICULOUS THAT SUCH A SAFETY REQUIREMENTS DOESN'T HAVE WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS ONLY 66000 MILE. MY DESK BOARD LEATHER IS ALSO CRACKING. MEANS EITHER END UP SPENDING MORE THEN $ 3500 TO KEEP RUNNING BECAUSE OF SAFETY REASON. OTHERWISE MY CAR IS FINE AND FIT. I HEARDLY USE 500 MILES A MONTH. CAN YOU DO SOMETHING.
POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE LEAKING FLUID I KEEP FILLING FLUID USING MY CAR DAILY FOR MY WORK
NY EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS HAVING TROUBLE I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE'S BEEN A RECALL BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING RECENT. MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ISN'T READING CORRECTLY EITHER AND I'M SCARED I'M GOING TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD THERE'S A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM IT ACCORDING TO THE SHOP THAT CHECKED MY CAR. I'VE KEPT UP WITH ALL MAINTAINCE I AM UNSURE WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND THE DASH IS MELTING AND STICKY. IT IS BLACK AND THE GLARE FROM THIS DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS. IT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY.
FOUND DASHBOARD MELTING AND CRACKING AROUND FLAT SURFACE AREAS AND A/C VENTS. EXTREME GLARE WHEN DRIVING!

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERAL BODILY AND HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING
2008 ALTIMA COUPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUE WITH VEHICLES CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT). *LD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD INTO LIMP MODE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *JS
The dashboard is defective and breaking down chemically. The chemical compound that the dashboard is made of is not resistant to sunlight causing it to crack break down and become very shiny. Not only does this admit harmful toxins that can be breathed in by the passengers, more dangerously it creates a glare on the windshield making it difficult to see through the window. This can impair vision resulting in an accident by the driver. In addition from what I understand the airbag is under this piece of equipment which is degrading and faulty.
AT 120000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED ON THIS 2.5 L ENGINE. WE PAID $3,000 TO HAVE THAT REPAIRED 10 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE CAR IS USING ABOUT 1 GALLON OF OIL EVERY 3 WEEKS AND WE FOUND THAT CYLINDER 3 HAS PISTON RINGS THAT ARE SHOT. OUR DEALERSHIP CONFIRMS THAT THIS ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I NOTICED THAT THE 2006 MODEL ALTIMA WITH A 2.5 L ENGINE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BECAUSE THE CAR USES EXCESSIVE OIL AND AN ENGINE FIRE MAY RESULT. OUR NEWER MODEL WITH THE SAME ENGINE NEARLY RUNS OUT OF OIL EVERY MONTH AND IS VERY HOT. DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH NISSAN? ANYONE ELSE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS?
CVT PROBLEM - WHIRRING NOISE
I HAVE PUT 2 DIFFERENT CVT TRANNYS IN MY 08 ALTIMA COUPE AND BOTH HAVE FAILED AND STUCK HAVING TO DO A 3RD I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT 80 WHEN IT WENT INTO FAIL SAFE WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OFF WAS STRANDED FOR A SECOND TIME
A SERVICE LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD FAILING MY STATE INSPECTION. I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL A DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE. THE SAME ISSUES WERE REPORTED ON MY CAR THAT ARE THE SAME AS THOUSANDS OF OTHER NISSAN ALTIMAS 2008 THAT WERE RECALLED. HOWEVER NISSAN STATED MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER RECALL EVEN THOUGH I REPORTED THE SAME ISSUES THAT ARE UNDER RECALL. THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME OR GIVE ME ANY OPTIONS. THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS. THE ISSUES REPORTED UNDER DIAGNOSTIC WAS OCCUPANT SENSOR ( PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION) CODE B 1018.
THE DASH OF MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE HAS MELTED SO SEVERELY THAT IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN THE DAYTIME. THE MATERIAL ONCE MELTED BECOMES EXTREMELY STICKY AND DANGEROUSLY REFLECTIVE. WHAT I MEAN BY REFLECTIVE, IS THAT WHEN THE SUN SHINES, IT REFLECTS SO MUCH LIGHT FROM THE DASH TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD RIGHT INTO MY, THE DRIVER, EYES. THE REFLECTIONS ARE EXTREMELY AND DANGEROUSLY BLINDING WHICH MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER! NOT TO MENTION THE GLUE LIKE SURFACE THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT SOMETHING ON THE DASHBOARD TO TRY REDUCING THE DEADLY REFLECTIONS! THE MANUFACTURE'S DEFECTIVE PRODUCT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO THE DIRECT SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AND EVERY OTHER MOTORIST, PEDESTRIANS, ANIMALS ETC.

THE CAR SEEMS TO "SLIP GEARS" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE CVT TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO ENGAGE AND MOVE THE CAR AT TIMES. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AMONG NISSAN ALTIMAS OF THIS YEAR. RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR ISSUES. THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES WHEN IT IS EXPECTED.
DASH BOARD IS MELTED CAUSING GLARING WHEN DRIVING FROM DASHBOARD AND WINDSHIELD.
MELTING DASHBOARD. ITS SO BAD, THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND GIVING OFF THIS SHINY STICKY RESIDUE. I CANT GET IT OFF AND ITS SO SHINY I CANT HARDLY SEE OUT MY WINDSHEILD WHEN IM DRIVING DURING THE DAY.

I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY ONE EVENING WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN. I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR SEEMS TO GO EVEN SLOWER. IT WAS MYSELF AND MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH. THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE HIGHWAY WAS 70 MPH AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 35 MPH. I PULLED OVER TO A GAS STATION AND A NICE MAN LOOKED AT THE CAR AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. SO GET BACK ON THE WAY TO GO BACK BECAUSE I DIDN'T TRUST THE CAR TO MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION. IT DID THE AME THING AGAIN. SO I DROVE WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON ALL THE WAY HOME AND PARKED IT. NOW IT DRIVES FINE RIGHT IN THE SMALL TOWN I LIVE IN BUT I CANT DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN AT ALL, WHICH REALLY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.

DASH MELTING AND STICKY AND CAUSING A GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
In 2018 I was driving back home from Derby, Kansas to Denver, Colorado in the middle of summertime, and my air conditioner started blowing hot air and the AC did not need to be charged. This was in my 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe that I purchased in April 2008 with 4 miles on it and have taken amazing care of it and still have it to this day and is in excellent condition other than these issues. About an hour later, my car starting making a revving noise when I accelerated but my car was not accelerating and I would have to pull off on the side of the road, in 100 degree weather, no air conditioning, with my dogs, and wait for 30 minutes and then I could start driving for about 10 minutes, and then I had to repeat this all the way back to Denver. A normally 8 hour trip took me over 20 hours due to this. I have to rent a car now I go out of town because I am not going to pay to fix whatever is wrong with it when this is obviously a major problem because there have been so many reports. I drive it when going on short trips so its driven, but its pretty much been non-reliable since 2018. I hope there is a thorough investigation of this and a recall is done because this is crazy and was not safe at all to drive and it actually still happens when it is hot out and I drive more than 30 minutes. No error lights come on and all gagues are normal and no mechanics can seem to figure it out so I can't get it fixed. I will never buy a brand new car again because a used one will last longer, and definitely not a Nissan or anything affiliated or has parts made buy them.
WHILE BEING SHIFTED INTO REVERSE FROM A STOP IN A PARKING SPACE, OUR '08 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 6SPMT MADE A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE FLOOR. THE SHARED BRAKE/CLUTCH RESERVOIR WAS FOUND TO BE DRAINED TO THE LEVEL OF THE CLUTCH TAKEOFF. WHILE THIS PRESENTED NO IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUES, HAD IT HAPPENED WHILE SHIFTING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I CAN IMAGINE IT WOULD BE, TO SAY THE LEAST, HIGHLY DISTRACTING FOR THE TYPICAL DRIVER AND PERHAPS MORE SO FOR A LESS EXPERIENCED ONE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED CLUTCH FAILURES IN OTHER CARS BUT TYPICALLY THE SYSTEM DETERIORATES SLOWLY, UNLIKE THIS SUDDEN FAILURE. I HAVE DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE MYSELF (COMPETENT DIY MECHANIC) AND BASED UPON NO SIGNS OF LEAKAGE OR MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE AREA OF THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER OR RESERVOIR, BUT BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE TRANSAXLE, I AM CONFIDENT THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER OR AN INTERNAL HYDRAULIC LINE HAS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 211,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AT 120K PLUS MILES. THE LAST TWO OR THREE OIL CHANGES MY CAR HAS REQUIRED AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF OIL. I'VE CHECKED A FEW ONLINE FORUMS AND THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH NISSAN VEHICLES. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE TODAY AND I CONFIRMED THAT MY ENGINE OIL WAS LOW AND THIS WAS AFTER 4K MILES BETWEEN CHANGES.
MY NISSAN 2008 ALTIMA STARTED STALLING WHILE I PULLED INTO TRAFFIC. IT WAS HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND WAS RANDOM. I TOOK MY CAR INTO NISSAN, AFTER REALIZING THERE WAS A CVT TRANSMISSION RECALL FOR THIS CAR. THEY EXAMINED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT REPORT ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODE. THEY TOLD ME TO COME BACK, WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND THEY COULD GET THE NECESSARY CODE, SINCE THE CAR WAS EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM THE CODE WOULD BE IN THE SYSTEM. I HAD REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO NISSAN CORPORATE AND GOT CASE NUMBER. ON MAY 7, 2018, NISSAN FOUND THE CODE AND THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD CVT TRANSMISSION. NISSAN DETERMINED TO PAY HALF THE COST OF REPLACING MY TRANSMISSION. ON MAY 18,2018, I PICKED UP MY CAR AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED BACK AND THE MANAGER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY HIGH FLUIDS AND TO DRIVE THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND AND IT SHOULD BE FINE. WELL, I STALLED WHILE DRIVING INTO TRAFFIC TWO MORE TIMES OVER THE WEEKEND. I CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE TO SAY THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT. I'M DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR AND NISSAN IS NOT HELPING ... AT LEAST FOR NOW
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE WITHIN THE LAST TWO (2) YEARS. I HAVE TROUBLE SEEING THE ROAD WHEN IT IS SUNNY BECAUSE I GET A BIG GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE REFLECTION OF THE MELTING DASHBOARD. ALSO, I NOTICED I HAVE BEEN GETTING DIZZY, UPPER RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS AND HEADACHES RIGHT AFTER I GET IN THE CAR WHEN IT HAS BEEN PARKED IN THE SUN, DESPITE A CAR WINDOW SHIELD I PUT ON IT TO PROTECT IT FROM THE SUN.
THE FOLLOWING SCENARIO HAS OCCURRED 7 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK.WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP RPMS WILL MOMENTARILY INCREASE TO APPROX 2000 RPM THEN REDUCE TO APPROX 1000. ENGINE. CONTINUES TO RUN SMOOTHLY WITH NO LURCHING OR JERKING. THE VEHICLE SIMPLY ROLLS SLOWLY INTO THE INTERSECTION OR ONTO THE ROADWAY. NO AMOUNT OF MANIPULATION OF THE GAS PEDAL RESULTS IN ANY THROTTLE RESPONSE. PLACING GEAR SHIFTER IN PARK AND SHIFTING BACK TO DRIVE SEEMS TO RESTORE THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TODAY THIS OCCURRED WHILE PULLING ACROSS THE EAST BOUND LANES OF HWY 278 TO PROCEED IN A WESTERLY DIRECTION. VEHICLE MOVED VERY SLOWLY ACROSS TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC TRAVELING 65 TO 70 MPH. WILL BE CONTACTING LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE CENTER TODAY TO DETERMINE IF ANY CORRECTIVE MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY NISSAN.
