2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL WITH 66K. TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED AT 66K MILES. NISSAN DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE. AFTER HEARING IT WOULD COST ME OVER 3700 TO REPLACE I BEGAN DOING RESEARCH ON THESE CVT TRANSMISSION. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CVTS. SO WITH ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS ON THE INTERNET, I INQUIRED WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WITH ASSISTANCE IN THIS COST. I WAITED A WEEK FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY WILL NOT ASSIST ME IN THIS REPAIR. NISSAN HAS RECALLED A NUMBER OF YEARS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 60K TO 120K. THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. THERE IS NO REASON A TRANSMISSION IS NEEDING REPLACED AT 60K. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE NISSAN IS VERY KNOWN FOR THE RELIABILITY AND THEIR CARS ARE SUPPOSE TO LAST. AFTER HAVING THIS ISSUE AND HEARING NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE IS VERY FRUSTRATING. THIS IS DEFF A DANGER ISSUE. MY VEHICLE GAVE ME NO INDICATION OR LIGHTS THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 4 CHILDREN WHEN IT WENT FROM 80 TO 50 MPH I'M CRUISE. AND THEN HESITATING TO GO AND I WAS AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THEE TRANSMISSION.
PASSENGER SEAT IS NOT DETECTING WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING, THE AIRBAG ICON IS TURNED ON AND WONT TURN OFF,ON BOTH DASHBOARD AND IN THE CONSOLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE, FRONT PASSENGER, AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO COCHRAN NISSAN OF SOUTH HILLS (3200 W LIBERTY AVE, PITTSBURGH, PA 15216, (412) 245-4540) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT NEW DOOR HANDLES WERE NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUDSON NISSAN OF NORTH CHARLESTON LOCATED AT 7331 RIVERS AVE, NORTH CHARLESTON, SC 29406, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
THE CONTROL ARM ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA BROKE WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY ON (7/20) DURING RUSH HOUR, CAUSING ME TO LOSE STEERING IN THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. THE EQUIPMENT FAILURE CAUSED ME TO BE STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY, FORCING ME TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP, COSTING ME $2,220 IN REPAIRS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 72,720 MILES WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. IN REACHING OUT TO I-90 NISSAN IN SHEFFIELD OHIO, WHICH IS WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY BUT DEFERRED ME TO NISSAN CORPORATE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS. CONSUMER AFFAIRS DENIED MY CLAIM BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE MY VEHICLE TO AN 'AUTHORIZED DEALER'. WHILE STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY, THE LAST PLACE I WAS THINKING ABOUT TAKING ME VEHICLE WAS TO THE DEALER (15+ MILES AWAY) THAT SOLD ME A CAR THAT HAD A MAJOR EQUIPMENT FAILURE IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS OF OWNING IT. I NEEDED TO HAVE MY BROKEN CONTROL ARM REPLACED, THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT TO BREAK DUE TO RUST AND STRESS FRACTURES. IN ADDITION, I NEEDED MY STABILIZER ARMS REPLACED. ATTACHED IS A PHOTO OF THE BROKEN CONTROL ARM. YOU CAN SEE ON THE BROKEN CONTROL ARM THERE IS A HOLE AT THE TOP, WHICH WAS NOT WELDED CLOSED, ALLOWING WATER AND SALT TO ENTER, RUSTING THE CONTROL ARM FROM BOTH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. THIS EXCESSIVE RUST IS WHAT LED TO THE CONTROL ARM TO FAIL AND BREAK.

AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH PASSENGER IS IN SEAT. GOES AWAY AFTER RESTARTING ENGINE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 60 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED TO START PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE BATTERY HAD TO BE JUMPSTARTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED BENTON NISSAN OF HOOVER AT (205) 938-6103 (LOCATED AT 1640 MONTGOMERY HWY, HOOVER, AL 35216) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY ALTIMA IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFT RELEASE. I HAVE TO USE THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE MECHANISM EVERY TIME I NEED TO MOVE THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE.

THE FAILURE PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING DRIVEN AT NIGHT DUE TO THE DIM HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ESTABROOK NISSAN (3693 14TH ST, PASCAGOULA, MS 39567, (228) 762-2644), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,200.
THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAVE BOTH BROKEN. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE MANUFACTURING ON THIS. I HAVE OWNED 4 VEHICLES IN MY LIFE, WITH ALL 4 OF THOSE VEHICLES HAVING MORE THAN 100,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN I TRADED THEM OR STOPPED DRIVING THEM, AND HAVE NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH THE DOOR HANDLES. THIS CAR CURRENTLY HAS ALMOST 73,000 MILES ON IT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE LAST YEAR AND THE REAR DOOR HANDLE BROKE THIS MORNING. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT BEING IN A SITUATION WHERE THE CAR NEEDS TO BE EXITED IMMEDIATELY AND WE CAN'T BECAUSE THE DOOR HANDLES WILL NOT WORK!
AFTER NORMAL DRIVING, I PARKED THE CAR, GRABBED THE DRIVER SIDE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND IT JUST SORT OF FLOPPED OUT. THERE WAS NO CONNECTION TO THE INTERIOR PIECES TO OPEN THE DOOR. TO EXIT, I HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING, OPEN THE WINDOW, REACH THROUGH AND USE THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR (WHICH IS VERY DIFFICULT AS I AM NOT TALL), THEN CLOSE THE WINDOW AGAIN BEFORE I CAN TURN OFF THE CAR AND EXIT.
AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR BLOWS HOT AIR. MACHANIC STATED THAT THE A.C COMPRESSOR HAS INTERNAL MECHANICAL FAILURE CAUSING HIGH SUCTION SIDE PRESSURE. ALSO, IT IS UNDER 100,000 MILES AND SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AT A NORMAL SPEED AND REALIZED MY HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM TO A POINT I THOUGHT MY LIGHTS WERE NOT ON. I CHECKED FROM THE INTERIOR AND THEY WERE IN THE AUTO POSITION. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK THEM AND FOUND OUT THEY WERE ACTUALLY BOTH ON AND LIT. I HAVE HAD ALL OF MY SYSTEMS AND MY BATTERY CHECKED AND EVERYTHING WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS AN EXTREME HAZARD. IF YOU UTILIZE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS THE LIGHTING IS STILL NOT THE BEST AND IS HAZARDOUS TO OTHER DRIVERS. THE LIGHTING IS THE SAME AT NIGHT IF YOU AR DRIVING OR IF YOU ARE IN A STATIONARY POSITION.
Even though I've just replaced my headlight bulbs with brand new ones it is impossible to drive the car at night! If I drive with high beams on you can see but obviously you blind everyone else. I can no longer drive it to work at night. It is unsafe!!!!!!! It's seriously like trying to drive with a super dim flashlight. This problem started a few years ago and has slowly gotten to this point. You cannot see pedestrians even on the side of the road. Very very unsafe and Nissan should fix whatever the problem is free of charge. I'm the sole owner of this car since it was new. The headlight lenses are not yellowed or worn. I've nearly hit persons walking across the street because I can't see them. I'm 49 years old and have good eyesight.
MY 2013 ALTIMA STARTED TO HESITATE AND JERK WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THEN WHEN I WOULD BE STOPPED AND READY TO PULL OUT MY CAR WILL NOT GO AND THEN FINALLY CATCH AND GO. IT WONT GO OVER 30 MILES AN HR AT SOME POINTS. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO NISSAN THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND ITS THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD MY WARRANTY EXPIRED 2000 MILES AGO AND ITS GONNA COST ME $3500 FOR A NEW ONE. IVE ONLY OWNED MY CAR FOR 2 YRS. I AM SO DISSATISFIED WITH NISSAN AND THEY ARE SO UNPROFESSIONAL TO NOT FIX THIS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THERE CVT ISSUES ON ALL THEIR VEHICLES.. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ON BOTH DOORS..
HEADLIGHTS GRADUALLY GET DIMMER AND DIMMER MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE PROBLEM IS NOT SIMPLE WEAR AND TEAR, RATHER IT IS THE BREAKING DOWN OF CERTAIN MATERIALS WITHIN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. ALL IT TAKES IS A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH ONLINE OF "2013 NISSAN ALTIMA DIM HEADLIGHTS" OR "2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS" TO SEE THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE WEBSITES WHERE MANY PEOPLE HAVE POSTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSIS FOR ME, AND FOR EVERYBODY ELSE I'VE READ ABOUT ONLINE, IS THAT THE PROJECTION LENSES BECOME HAZED OVER AND/OR THE REFLECTIVE MATERIAL IN THE REFLECTOR BOWL DETERIORATES, AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY, AND THE AVERAGE COSTS OF PARTS AND LABOR IS OVER $1000.00 (MY ESTIMATE AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP/SERVICE SHOP IS $1089.53). SOME TESTIMONIALS ONLINE REPORTED HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH AS LITTLE AS 30,000 IN MILEAGE. MY ISSUE STARTED TO ARISE AT ABOUT 50,000 MILES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AFFECTING MANY MANY PEOPLE, THUS A RECALL IS MORE THAN WARRANTED.
TAKETA RECALL. MY NISSA ALTIMA, 3.5SV COULDN'T SHOW CORRECT GASOLINE USAGE MILES ON THE CAR DISPLAY AFTER GASOLINE WAS FULL FILLED SINCE THIS SUNDAY. THE USAGE MILES IS ONLY GOING DOWN THE CAR RUN SOME DISTANCE. NISSAN DEALER DON'T FIND ANY ISSUE BY COMPUTER PROGRAM READING TODAY. I AM VERY CONCERN THIS ISSUE. DEALER SUGGESTS ME TO PAY THE ADVANCED CHECKING FEE. THIS VECHICLE WAS IN RECALL.
IN JULY/AUGUST OF 2017, MY VEHICLE WAS SPUTTERING AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY TURN OFF. THERE WERE SEVERAL SCENARIOS WHEN THIS HAPPENED DURING BUSY TRAFFIC. UPON RECEIVING A MANUFACTURER RECALL, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE ON THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER SYSTEM. ALL SEEMED FIXED UNTIL JUNE OF 2018 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, AGAIN WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4,300. UPON INTERNET RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM FOR NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION; IN FACT, NISSAN EXTENDED 2012 AND PREVIOUS MODELS TRANSMISSION WARRANTIES TO 10 YEAR 120,000 MILES. SO FAR, NISSAN HAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE OR GOOD WILL IN FIXING THE DEFECTED PART / ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE AWAY AT THE PIVOT CONNECTION ON THE BODY. THE CONTROL ARM AT THE PIVOT CONNECTION IS HEAVILY RUSTED. THE LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM IS STILL CONNECTED BUT IS ALSO HEAVILY RUSTED.
MY CAR RECENTLY TODAY STATED TO LOCK THE DEAR SHIFT WHEN I PARK IT STARTED THIS MORNING AND HAS CONTINUED EVERY TIME I TURN OFF MY CAR. PREVIOUS ISSUE I TOOK IT IN TO NISSAN TYNANS ON HAVANA IN AURORA CO (NEVER GO THERE) BECAUSE IT IS SPUTTERING ANY TIME I ACCELERATE AT ANY SPEED ON ANY ROAD RIGHT BEFORE IT WOULD WHAT YOU CALL BACK IN THE DAY SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. TYNANS FIRST SAID IT WAS A BATTERY CABLE AND WHEN IT WASNT FIXED THEY ARE SAY THERE ISNT ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I BELIEVE THE CVT IS CAUSING IT TO SPUTTER I TOLD TYNANS I THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE TO BEGIN WITH. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY CAR IS NOT FIXED AND IS STILL SPUTTERING AND JUST BOUGHT IT OWE ABOUT $14000 STILL!
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 NISSAN ULTIMA AND THE HEADLIGHTS ARE INEFFECTIVE AND A SAFETY HAZARD! THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO E TO NOT BE BRIGHT AND VERY DIM CAUSING ME NOT TO SEE AND TO CONTINUALLY USE MY HIGHBEAMS IN ORDER TO SEE AT NIGHT. NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT WILL NOT DO A RECALL. I'VE COMPLAINED ENOUGH GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN CORPORATION THEY'VE REPLACED THE BULBS THEY KNOW THAT THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT AND IT IS A HUGE SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I GOT PULLED OVER BY A POLICEMAN THAT SAID YOU MUST GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE YOU CANNOT DRIVE WITH HIGHBEAMS ON ALL THE TIME THAT'S HOW BAD IT IS I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT WITHOUT USING HIGHBEAMS.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE RPMS INCREASED WITHOUT ANY INCREASE IN SPEED. AS I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE STALLED BEFORE EXIT RAMP. MULTIPLE VEHICLES HAD TO MANEUVER AROUND ME. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK ON SHOULDER OF INTERSTATE AND LET ABOUT 5 MINUTES GO BY BEFORE TESTING ACCELERATION. UPON TESTING, IT MAINTAINED ENOUGH SPEED (25 MPH TOP SPEED) FOR ME TO EXIT INTERSTATE AND RETURN TO DEALERSHIP NEAR ME. ONCE I MADE IT TO DEALERSHIP, CAR SHUT OFF. IT HAD JUST BEEN REPAIRED FOR SOME RECALL CENTERED AROUND TRANSMISSION.
MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. THIS DIDN'T OCCUR UNTIL SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER, I HAD THE PASSENGER SENSOR LIGHT AIRBAG DETECTOR WORKED ON. WITH ALL THE FACTORY RECALL, I FEEL AS IF THIS NEED TO BE CHECKED INTO. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY IF NEEDED. MY BROTHER-IN-LAW IS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE HAVE REPAIRED OR TOWED SEVERAL NISSAN ALTIMA THAT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT,
3 DOOR LATCHES BROKE ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA, WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. I TOOK MY CAR TO NISSAN FOR REPAIRS THINKING IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY OR RECALL AS SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC PART IN THE LATCH THAT BREAKS ON THAT MODEL VEHICLE; THIS PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP HAD FIXED 30 OR SO WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. IT COST ME ABOUT $500 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAD BEEN ROLLING THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW DOWN TO GET OUT BUT HAD TO HAVE THE BACK DOORS REPAIRED BECAUSE I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND IF THERE HAD BEEN AN ACCIDENT THE CHILDREN WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE BACKSEAT. I CALLED CUSTOMER CARE TO COMPLAIN. THEY CONSIDERED MY CASE FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND CAME BACK WITH A DETERMINATION THAT THEY COULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. EVEN THE NISSAN DEALER INDICATED THAT SINCE SO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM A RECALL SHOULD BE GIVEN. I AM DISAPPOINTED AT THE LACK OF ACTION PROVIDED BY NISSAN! GOD-FORBID IF SOMEONE GETS HURT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET OUT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT! I HAVE ATTACHED 9 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2013 ALTIMA OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN SHOULD IMMEDIATELY ISSUE A RECALL AND REIMBURSE THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED.
THE CAR SHIFT LOCK BUTTON LOCKS THE CAR IN GEAR, THE CAR IS UNABLE TO BE SHIFTED FROM A PARK POSITION TO DRIVE, REVERSE OR ANY OTHER GEAR WHILE IN PARK OR ANY OTHER GEAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTFUL IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND THE CAR CANNOT BE PUT INTO GEAR! I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY BECAUSE WHEN I WAS PARALLEL PARKING ON A STREET PASSING CARS HAD TO WAIT AND CAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO HITTING MY CAR.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A HIGHWAY, AND ESPECIALLY AT STOP LIGHTS, THE TACHOMETER WOULD DROP TO 0 RPM AND I WOULD HAVE TO TRY TO GET THE VEHICLE GOING AGAIN BY RESTARTING THE ENGINE, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER GETTING HOME, THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WOULD START. THE VEHICLE WAS 3000 MILES OVER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY LIMIT OF 60,000 MILES, SO I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AAMCO TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE AAMCO SHOP FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND DETERMINED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH COST ROUGHLY $4000.
EXTREMELY DIM LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. CHANGING BULBS DIDN'T HELP. HAVE TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS AND AFFECT OTHERS SOMETIMES. THIS IS ALWAYS, NEVER CHANGES DAY TO DAY OR UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS.

I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 4 YRS AND ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO APPEAR DIM. I CHANGED OUT THE BULBS THINKING THAT THE FACTORY BULBS WERE GOING BAD. AFTER REPLACING THE BULBS, THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN THE LIGHTING. IT IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE MORE THAN 3-5 FEET IN FRONT OF YOU AND THAT IS ONLY BECAUSE THE FOG LIGHTS ARE ON. WE HAVE RESORTED TO RIDING AROUND WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I'VE HAD AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT NISSANS, THAT I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 8-10 YRS AND HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTER THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. NHTSA AND NISSAN NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS I'VE READ THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE HEADLIGHT/LAMP ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE.
TAKATA RECALL AFTER RETURNING FROM A ROAD TRIP I NOTICED MY CAR SHAKING AND WHEN CHANGING GEARS THE CAR PAUSES BEFORE ACCELERATING. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT ONLY COVERS THE ENGINE. WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN RECENTLY EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO 100K MILES WHERE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX THE REPAIRS AND GIVE ME A RENTAL WHILE IT'S IN THE SHOP. NISSAN IS NOT GOING TO FIX THE REPAIRS BUT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.

INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE(S) BREAK BECAUSE ONLY PLASTIC IS USED TO SECURE A METAL BALL ATTACHED TO THE CABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. AT AROUND 40 TO 60,000 MILES THE INTERIOR HANDLE BREAKS, ALMOST CONSISTENTLY BASED ON ONLINE RESEARCH. THIS KNOWN PROBLEM SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY MAKING THE AREA WHERE THE CABLE ATTACHES MORE STURDY, OR USE A MORE STURDY MATERIAL SUCH AS METAL. IF THIS HANDLE WERE TO BREAK WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DUE TO AN EMERGENCY, THE RESULTS COULD BE CATASTROPHIC.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE CAR SHUTTERED AND CUT OFF AFTER HAVING STOPPED FOR A LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I PRESS THE EXHILARATOR TO CONTINUE ON. THEY ENDED UP UPDATING THE TRANSMISSION MODULE AND SAID THEY HOPED THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND I HAVE HAD TO AVOID STOPPING AT LIGHTS DUE TO THE CAR WANTING TO CUT OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT OTHER NISSAN CAR OWNERS ARE ALSO FACING. I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 113 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SENSE PUT 160K HIGHWAY MILES ON IT BUT HAVE HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW BECAUSE I GET IT SERVICED REGULARLY. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK LAST WEEK AND AT 30-45 MPH THE RPMS STARTED JUMPING BETWEEN 1K AND 2K. ONCE I GOT PAST 60 MPH THIS STOPPED BUT EVENTUALLY MY CAR WOULD STUTTER AND STALL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS MAKING IT DANGEROUS IF TURNING IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC OR COMING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. I TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS OUT I WOULD NEED TO PAY $4500 OUT OF POCKET. AS SHADY AS DEALERSHIPS ARE THESE DAYS OF COURSE I DIDN'T HAVE IT DONE BECAUSE I ASSUMED THEY WERE CHARGING ME FOR SOMETHING UNNECESSARILY. I SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE AND HE SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH WOULD HAVE DONE NOTHING TO PREVENT MY TRANSMISSION FAIL. WHAT IS EVEN WORSE IS THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY DASH LOOKED THE SAME AS IT ALWAYS DOES, THE ONLY LIGHTS THAT CAME ON WERE MY BATTERY AND BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, BUT IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AFTER THAT. 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA DEFECTIVE CVT. PURCHASED A USED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 62K MILES ON IT AND QUICKLY REALIZED I HAD BOUGHT A CAR WITH A FAILING TRANSMISSION. IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL IN A MANNER THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE CURRENT SYMPTOMS ARE POOR ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY A SURGE IN ACCELERATION, SHUDDERING, ETC. I HAVE HAD THE CVT FLUID CHANGED AND REPROGRAMMED TWICE AND THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS. ANSWER While opening all three of the passenger doors from the inside something internally inside the door has broken preventing all three of these doors to open from the inside. 2. ANSWER This is a safety risk because we are unable to open the door from the inside and if there were an accident we would not be able to exit the vehicle. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?ANSWER Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION. WHEN CAR GETS HOT, WHICH CAN BE WITHIN MINUTES LIVING IN ARIZONA, THE GAS PEDAL WHEN FLOORED, BARELY INCREASES SPEED FROM A STOP. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR SERVICE OF THIS ISSUE. 1ST TIME A COOLER WAS ADDED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THEN A RECALL WAS ISSUED AND WE BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN. THINGS WERE WORKING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS STARTING TO WARM UP, THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NO CODES/ERRORS APPEARED. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A COUPLE OF REPUTABLE MECHANICS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR.
CVT TRANSMISSION WENT ON MY ALTIMA. MY WARRANTY RAN OUT IN FEBRUARY OF 2018, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN MAY OF 2018. THE COMPANY PAID FOR HALF $2200 AND I HAD TO PAY THE OTHER HALF. I FEEL WITH ALL THE ISSUES NISSAN IS EXPERIENCING WITH THEIR CVT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY ANYTHING.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE HOOD FLEW OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND CLOSE THE HOOD. UPON INSPECTION I SAWTHE ROOF, FENDERS AND HOOD WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT. EVERYTHING POINTED A PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER DOING THE DIAGNOSTICS, THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. BECAUSE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT IN MARCH I ASKED ABOUT THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS $3,800. I SPOKE WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON MAY 29TH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REGIONAL CONSUMER MANAGER WOULD CALL. JASON DID CALL AND SAID HE HAD TO RESEARCH. ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5TH, THE DECISION WAS THAT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED BY NISSAN IN DECEMBER 2016 ACKNOWLEDGING THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND IF NOT IT WOULD LEAD TO ACCELERATED DAMAGE. I ALSO MADE HIM AWARE THAT I NEVER RECEIVED THAT NOTICE. HIS RESPONSE WAS BECAUSE I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, I DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICE. HE WOULD NOT ANSWER HOW IF NISSAN KNEW THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS WERE A PROBLEM ON SOME VEHICLES WHY DID IT MATTER THAT MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN MARCH. HE ALSO HAD NO RESPONSE TO ME SAYING THAT A NORMAL TRANSMISSION DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED ON A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS NOT EVEN HIT 100,000 MILES. SO ALTHOUGH IT IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH SOME OF THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, A RECALL THAT IS ON NISSAN'S WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN NUMBER, THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICE TO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE, I AM STUCK WITH A $3,800 REPAIR BILL IF I WANT TO FIX MY CAR.

UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THIS COULD POTENTIALLY OVEREXPOSE TTHE OPERATOR TO DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT WHICH COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT THE OPERATOR'S ABILITY TO SAFELY CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE LEAD TO CRASHES AS WELL AS INJURY TO THE OPERATOR SUCH AS HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, THE RISK OF THE OPERATOR'S OVEREXPOSURE TO THE HEAT CAN BE REDUCED BY ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOWS. HOWEVER DURING RAINFALL, AT SLOW SPEEDS OR WHILE AT A STANDSTILL, THAT OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE. AS AN EXAMPLE, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, I REACHED A SECTION THAT WAS SHUT DOWN. THE TRAFFIC WAS BACKED UP AND I WAS TRAPPED ON THE INTERSTATE FORCING ME TO OPERATE MY VEHICLE AT A STANDSTILL FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. WHEN MY OVEREXPOSURE TO THE HEAT CAUSED ME TO BECOME FAINT AND DISORIENTED, I ABANDONED MY VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AND MADE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. A DOCTOR CAUGHTUP IN THE TRAFFIC BACKUP SAW ME AND WHILE ATTENDING ME STATED THAT I WAS SUFFERING FROM HEAT EXHAUSTION. OTHER MOTORISTS ASSISTED HIM AND WERE ABLE TO FIND SOMEONE WITH A COOLER OF ICE AND SO THE DOCTOR WAS ABLE TO TREAT ME BY ICING ME DOWN. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT I WAS ON THE VERGE OF HEAT STROKE WHICH WAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THIS INCIDENCE MADE ME REALIZE THAT A DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT SIMPLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND AN INCONVENIENCE BUT BECAUSE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS IT CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT THE OPERATOR'S ABILITY TO SAFELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE, IT CAN LEAD TO UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. ENGINE RPM UNSTABLE, UNPREDICTABLE, CAUSING SPEED CHANGES. NO PEDAL RESPONSE OR SLOW ACCELERATION. DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY OVER 40 MPH. GEAR SHIFTING BETWEEN D AND N VERY OFTEN LEAVE THE GEAR IN N FOR A FEW SECONDS.
