TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH, THE CONTACT LOOKED DOWN AND, BY THE TIME HE LOOKED BACK UP, HE HAD CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PUGMIRE LINCOLN OF MARIETTA (1865 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30060) WHERE THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WOULD BE A COUPLE OF DAYS TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OR IF IT COULD BE REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES, EVEN WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,563.
MY WIFE'S ALTIMA TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE HAS WENT INTO LIMP MODE SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. SHE WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING DROP SPEED FROM ENGAGING LIMP MODE. VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 70K MILES AND THE DEALER STATES THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY DID NOT EXTEND THE CVT WARRANTY LIKE THEY HAD ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. NOW WE HAVE A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS A 4,000 TRANSMISSION AND HARDLY ANY MILEAGE THAT WOULD WARRANT A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT.
INSTRUMENTAL GAUGES FLICKERS AND SOMETIMES STAYING OFF FOR A SECOND OR TWO CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK WITH POWER LOSE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. RADIO WILL ALSO LUNIMATE AND DIE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. CURRENT VEHICLE HAS AROUND 50K AND I HAVE REPLACE BATTERY, +\-BATTERY TERMINAL AND ALTERNATOR TO SEE IF THIS CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT THIS STILL HAPPENS!!! ALSO ALL THE INSTRUMENTAL GAUGE WILL RESET ITS SELF WHEN THIS HAPPENS!!!
I WANT TO START A RECALL FOR THE 2013-2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT THE BULB. IT IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ONE HAS TO DRIVE USING HIGH BEAMS AT NIGHT IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY. I AM TOLD NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM ALSO TOLD THAT NISSAN SAYS THE ENTIRE HOUSINGS HAS TO BE REPLACED.AT A PRICE TO CONSUMERS OF $1,000 THIS IS SO UNFAIR. CONSUMERS.WHO BROUGHT NISSAN ALTIMA SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR.TRUSTING THIS COMPANY THIS IS UNFAIR. NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND FOOT THE BILL. SEVERAL TIMES I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE I DIDNT SEE THE PERSON HOW CAN I START A RECALL?
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE. SOMETHING INSIDE BROKE AND THE HANDLE SWINGS FREELY. IT WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR. WE HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR NISSAN ALTIMA 2013-2015. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WE ARRIVED HOME AND I TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR SOMETHING INSIDE THE DOOR SNAPPED, AND I'M NO LONGER ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE CAR. IF THE CAR WERE TO CATCH ON FIRE AND THE ELECTRIC WINDOW DOES'T OPEN I WOULD BE TRAPPED.
TAKATA RECALL. WATER ACCUMULATES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUNK, WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS, IN A RAIN STORM. IT WAS DRIVEN THROUGH SMALL PUDDLES.
THE 2 FRONT INSIDE DOOR HANDLES STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE DOOR HANDLE WOULD JUST SWING FREELY LIKE IT WASN'T CONNECTED TO ANYTHING. I WOULD HAVE TO ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE THEN ROLL THE WINDOW BACK UP TO BE ABLE TO TURN MY CAR OFF. IT COST NEARLY $300 TO FIX THE ISSUES OVER 2 DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS AT THE DEALERSHIP.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5SV , THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK , THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY OFFERED A 60/40 SPLIT BUT THIS CLEARLY BEING A SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE ISSUED AS A RECALL OR TAKEN CARE OF 100% BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS NOT SAFE IF YOU CAN'T GET YOU CARE OUT OF PARK, NISSAN KNOWS OF THE ISSUE BUT CONTINUES TO IGNORING THE PROBLEM.
BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS ARE DIFFICULT TO PULL SLACK OUT FROM THE SHOULDER DOOR FRAME AREA WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO PUT ON OR TAKE OFF THE SEAT BELT. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THEY MAY GET STUCK IN PLACES. THE SHOULDER STRAPS DO NOT PULL OR RETRACT SMOOTHLY/EASILY.
MY CAR HESITATES WHEN IN REVERSE OR WHEN AT RED LIGHTS. THIS HAPPENS WHILE IN DRIVE
THE LOW BEAMS LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP THE ROAD. EVEN WHEN THE BULBS ARE REPLACED. THIS IS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AT NIGHT. INTERSTATE DRIVING WITH LOW BEAMS IS VERY DANGEROUS
I AM EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT CVT FAILURES AT MILEAGE: 45000. ONCE I WAS STATIONARY AND IN THE OTHER INSTANCE I WAS ON THE CITY STREET, WHEN I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN POWER LOSS, ALL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHENEVER I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE IT JUST TURNED OFF. AFTER 4 TO 5 TRIES CAR STARTED. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND IT HAD SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO THE CVT FAILURE. I WENT TO NISSAN SERVICE CENTRE TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING AND SAID EVERYTHING IS IN PERFECT CONDITION.
BELT LIGHT INDICATES NOT OPERATIONAL WHILE BEING OCCUPOED SHOIULD GO OFF DURING OCCUPIED. OFF AT TIMES WHEN OCCUPIED HOWEVER THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MORE THAN 5 TRIPS AND WE ARE TOLD THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. BUT THAT OTHER NEW CARS ON THE LOT ARE ALSO INDICATING THE SAME SIGNAL WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE BAG WILL OPERATE WHILE LIGHT ID=S OUT OCCURINGINF SINCE CAR IS NEW 2013 CALL MANFUCTURER AND WAS TOLD "OH WELL, WE CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT THAT" GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSBNIP SEE IF THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG
ABOUT A MONTH AGO MY STEERING STARTED ACTING UP. IT IS VERY STIFF WHEN TURNING A CORNER, BUT DURING THE TURN IT ALSO GOES BACK TO "NORMAL", THEN STIFF AGAIN. ALSO WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL IT WON'T RETURN BACK TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION.
IT STARTED WITH A WHIRLING WHEN DESCENDING AN INCLINE. SINCE I HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED, I ASSUMED THIS SOUND WAS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN OR BEEN A PASSENGER IN A NISSAN. EXACTLY 1,383 MILES AFTER MY WARRANTY AND 13 MONTHS AND 2 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL WORK THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND CUT OFF AT INTERSECTIONS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN ATLANTA AND ITS FAMOUS SPAGHETTI JUNCTION. THE FIRST TIME I ASSUMED IT WAS A FLUKE. THE 2ND TIME I WANTED TO BLAME IT ON BAD GAS. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE, HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO CODES. A TECHNICIAN DROVE IT AND SAID IT FELT LIKE IT WAS SEARCHING, BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF. HE TOLD ME TO POP IT IN NEUTRAL WHEN APPROACHING A LIGHT OR SLOW DOWN. I DROVE TO AN AAMCO WHERE IT SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF IN THEIR LOT. FIVE HOURS LATER AAMCO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SHUT OFF AND FOUND NO CODES. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALER THAN THE ONE THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL WORK. THEY GOT NO CODES, BUT THEY WERE WILLING TO SELL ME A BATTERY, CABLES AND AN IDLE REBOOT FOR $360! THE NISSAN MANAGER PICKED ME UP AS A CURTSEY AND ONCE I TOLD HIM THE PROBLEMS, HE IMMEDIATELY SAID THAT HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS-THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THAT BASICALLY THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 4TH AND COULDN'T SLIP INTO 1ST. I ASKED THAT A TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT HOME IN HOPES OF DUPLICATING. THE NEXT DAY A SERVICE REP REPORTED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SHUDDERING/SHUT-OFF, BUT THAT THEY COULD FEEL IT SEARCHING FOR GEARS. THEY SAID IT WAS POSSIBLY A TORQUE CONVERTER AND THAT A TOTAL REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION AT $4,000 WAS REQUIRED. AAMCO IS WILLING TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AS LONG AS I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I MAY NEED A TOTAL REBUILD AS THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN IT JUST BE A TORQUE CONVERTER. AS I OWE MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH, I HAVE ZERO OPTIONS BUT TO PAY FOR A COSTLY REBUILD.
DRIVING AT 40 MPH AND HOOD FLEW OPEN AND CRASHED INTO WINDSHIELD - BENT BOTH PANELS ON EITHER SIDE ON CAR AND OF COURSE CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD
MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH MY GRAND CHILDREN IN THE CAR. CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES WERE SPEEDING BY ON EITHER SIDE AND I WAS HELPLESS. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THE WARRANTY WAS UP BY THREE MONTHS EVEN THOUGH MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAD ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE SAFETY FACTOR SHOULD SPEAK FOR ITSELF. ON THE WEB THERE ARE HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ESPECIALLY THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. I BELIEVE IT'S TIME TO RECALL THIS AUTOMOBILE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK WITHOUT USING SHIFT LOCK OVERRIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED, THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WITHOUT WANING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BULBS WERE CHANGED TWICE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAVID MCDAVID NISSAN (11911 GULF FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77034) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LENS IN THE HEADLIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
HEADLAMPS STARTED TO GET DIMMER AND DIMMER. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD THE HEADLAMPS BOTH WERE DIM DUE TO THE REFLECTOR PART FADING OUT. WAS GIVEN A $1,288 QUOTE TO REPLACE ($366 FOR EACH HEADLAMP ASSY, PLUS $500 LABOR TO INSTALL). CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE - THE "REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES, AFTER CONSULTING WITH THE DEALERSHIP, WOULD OFFER A 70% DISCOUNT". I CAN BUY THE REPLACEMENT HEADLAMP ASSY'S THROUGH MULTIPLE OUTLETS FOR $110-125). EVEN AT 70% I WOULD STILL BE PAYING OVER $450 FOR WHAT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE FROM A DEFECTIVE PART. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THERE IS INSUFFICIENT LIGHT TO SEE THE ROADS. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT. MY FIRST CHECK ON THE INTERNET LOCATED 91 OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, SAME MODEL AND YEAR, AND SAME COST!
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS 87000 MILES ON IT AND HAD A SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILURE THAT NEEDS REPLACING. THIS WAS QUOTED AT $3600+ TAX. THIS FAILURE IS DUE TO A TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE SENSOR GOING BAD THAT CAN'T BE CHANGED ALONE AND REQUIRES A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. 2 TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS IN UNDER 87000 MILES IS UNREASONABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE SHUDDERS BETWEEN 1000 AND 2000 RPM. IT BEHAVES WORSE AT 1500RPM AND WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT. I HAVE TO STEP ON THE GAS AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO ESCAPE OR AVOID THE SHUDDER OR HAVE TO COMPLETELY LET OFF THE GAS. IT HAS SHUDDERED SO STRONGLY THAT I HAVE FEARED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION. I ALSO FEAR I WILL BE IN A SITUATION WHERE RAPID ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION WOULD BE DANGEROUS.
I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 45K MILES ON IT. THE CAR STARTS UP AND IDLES IN PARK JUST FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN I SHIFT IT INTO GEAR (DRIVE OR REVERSE), THE CAR SPUTTERS AND STALLS. IT DOESN'T SPUTTER AND STALL UNTIL I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I AM ABLE TO DRIVE IT JUST FINE IF I IMMEDIATELY PRESS ON THE GAS AFTER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON ONLY WHEN THE CAR STALLS. I TOOK IT TO NISSAN THERE WAS NO CODE RECORDED - NOT SURE WHY. IT HAPPENED WITH ME 5 TIMES IN A ROW IN A DAY.
NISSAN KNOWINGLY PUTS DRIVERS & PASSENGERS AT SERIOUS RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH SINCE NISSAN REFUSES TO RECALL AND REPLACE DEFECTIVE NISSAN HEADLIGHTS. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE THAT NISSAN HEADLIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE, AND THAT DRIVERS ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT DUE TO DEFECTIVE NISSAN HEADLIGHTS. DEFECTIVE NISSAN HEADLIGHTS ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AS DRIVING WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AT ALL! *JS
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR IT JERKS, WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN GO TO TAKE OFF THE CAR JERKS . MY CAR HAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS OR HAD A CLASS ACTION CLAIM AGAINST THEM HOWEVER TO MY UNDERSTANDING I WASN'T ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE MY MILEAGE EXCEEDED WHAT WAS REQUIRED . I DON'T FEEL SAFE TRANSPORTING MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR DUE TO THE HESITATION/ JERKS , HOWEVER I'M NOT FINANCIALLY ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC . I'VE TRIED CONTACTING SOMEONE IN REGARDS TO THE NISSAN ALTIMA CVT SETTLEMENT TO SEE IF THEY COULD DIRECT ME TO SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BUT I'VE HAD NO SUCCESS REACHING ANYONE. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CAR BESIDES THE HESITATION/ JERKING, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON FOR NO REASON , THE A/C WANT PROPERLY WORK . THIS HAS BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM FOR AWHILE, WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR ( USED ) I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE JERKING WHEN I FIRST DROVE IT BUT THE SALESMAN SAID THAT ITS NORMAL FOR THAT TYPE TRANSMISSION AND THAT I'D GET USE TO IT HENCE THE FACT I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS PURCHASING A CAR THAT WAS PUTTING MYSELF AND FAMILY IN DANGER . PLEASE HELP
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEATBELT AND AIRBAG FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN A VIOLENT ACCIDENT WHERE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG DID NOT OPERATE. THE DRIVER'S HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING MINOR BLEEDING IN THE HEAD. *JS *BF
OVER HE PAST YEAR WE NOTICED OUR HEADLIGHTS GETTING SIGNIFICANTLY DIMMER. LOOKING AT THEM FROM THE OUTSIDE THE PLASTIC WAS CLEAR AND LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE BRIGHT A NIGHT. HOWEVER AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT LIGHT UP THE ROAD ANY BETTER THAN A GOOD FLASHLIGHT. WE CONSISTENTLY HAD TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS JUST TO SEE THE ROAD. ONE NIGHT WE COMPARED THE FOG LIGHTS TO THE HEADLIGHTS AND FOUND THE FOG LIGHTS LIT UP THE ROAD BETTER. AFTER SPEAKING WITH TWO DEALERSHIPS WE FINALLY DECIDED TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED FOR ALMOST $500 AND THAT WAS AT DEALERS COST ( THEY WANTED TO HELP). I RETAINED THE HEADLIGHTS AND FOUND THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE PLASTIC LENS THAT FOCUSED THE HEADLIGHTS. THE LENS HAD BECOME CLOUDY AND ALTHOUGH IT LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF LIGHT EMANATED FROM THE HEADLIGHTS IT WAS SO DISPERSED THAT VERY LITTLE WAS FOCUSED DOWN THE ROAD. WE FOUND THIS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH BRIGHTS ON ALL THE TIME AND PAID THE PRICE TO REPLACE THEM. NISSAN DENIED OUR CLAIM TO DEFRAY THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENTS STATING IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS WAS CERTAINLY NOT A MILEAGE WARRANTY ISSUE. HAD A CAR SAT STILL FOR A FEW YEARS IT WOULD HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WITH ZERO MILES. AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE NISSAN SHOULD AT A MINIMUM REDUCE THE PRICE OF REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS (REGULAR COST IS OVER $700). IT SHOULD BE DEALT WITH AS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO A SUBSTANDARD PART IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.
MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND IT ONLY HAS 70000 MILES ON IT, I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. I THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE REIMBURSED OR SOME FORM OF COMPENSATION FOR THIS PROBLEM.

HAVING ISSUES ACCELERATING (IN MOTION) WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC WHEN THE SYSTEM WAS CHECKED, THE PROBLEM/ISSUE ORIGINATES FROM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN ALTIMA VEHICLES.

Component malfunctioned - Driver sun visor comes down randomly & always over bumps. 2013 Altima is available for inspection. Risk factor - Visor came down randomly while I was driving in rush hour beltway traffic and hit me in the nose, blurred my vision and put me and my passenger at severe safety risk. Problem confirmed by independent service center No other inspections No warnings. First started in 2018 but has gotten progressively worse to the point of almost causing accidents due to hindering my vision while driving and/or hitting me in the face.
THE GEAR SHIFTER STICKS IN PARK SOMETIMES IT DOESNT COME OUT OF GEAR NOW FOR A 2013 WITH 43.000 MILES WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN
THE GEAR SHIFT IN MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA STOPPED WORKING. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON YOUTUBE AND IT SAID THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR WAS NOT RELAYING INFORMATION TO THE GEAR SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE EMERGENCY SHIFT LOCK MUST BE USED TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK.THE PROBLEM BEGAN GRADUALLY, WITH THE GEAR SIFT BECOMING "STUCK" WHEN SHIFTING, AND IN A MATTER OF 2 MONTHS, THE GEAR SHIFT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR IT WILL NOT SHIFT. ONCE IT IS TAKEN OUT OF PARK, IT WILL SHIFT BETWEEN ANY GEARS WITH NO PROBLEM, UNTIL IT IS PLACED BACK IN PARK.
MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM, AND A HAZARD TO NIGHT DRIVING. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP. ALONG WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY AGREED TO PAY 70% TO REPLACE THE HEAD LAMP SYSTEM, BUT I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND IF THEY AGREED TO PAY 70%, THEN THEY FEEL IT IS NOT A CONSUMER ISSUE, IT IS A VEHICLE/MANUFACTURE ISSUE, AND I FEEL THEY SHOULD REPLACE THIS FOR ME AT THEIR COST, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE WILLING TOMPAYN70%, THEY KNOW IT IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE , THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON CAR COMPLAINTS.COM. WHILE PARKED (OR ANYTIME THE GEAR SHIFT IS IN THE "P" POSITION; THE GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF "PARK". THE DEALER MADE THE SUGGESTION TO INSTALL A NEW BRAKE SWITCH. I PURCHASED THE NEW BRAKE SHIFT AND THE DEALER INSTALLED IT, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. ON APRIL 2018, I VISIT THE NISSAN DEL OESTE AT AGUADILLA PR TO REPORT NOISE IN THE POWER STEERING NOISE, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN, THEY JUST SAID THAT WAS NORMAL WITH ALL NISSAN POWER STEERING PUMP. FEBRUARY 25, 2021 I CONTACT NISSAN DEL OESTE AT AGUADILLA PR AND NOTIFY ABOUT THE ISSUE OF THE POWER STEERING NOISE AND TRANSMISSION NOISE. APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH 2 2021 WAS SET AND I NOTIFY THEM WITH PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT ANY RECALL FOR POWER STEERING PUMP AND CVT TRANSMISSION. I DID MENTION THE RECALLS FOR 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA IAW NHTSA WITH REF.: ST12-009B, REF:NTBB-0176 ANDTSB NTB12-081. THEY INFORM AT THE VOUCHER THE MILEAGE IN AND OUT, THEY DID NOT TOOK THE CAR FOR A RUN OF 6 MILES LIKE IT SAYS ON VOUCHER 48133S. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE CAR COULD HAVE ANY SITUATION WITH ONE OF THOSE PARTS JUST MENTIONED DURING A DRIVE AND CAUSE ANY ACCIDENT WITH OUT HAVING THE CONTROL. MY QUESTION IS, IF THERE IS A MALFUNCTION FOR MY 2013 ALTIMA THAT IS ALREADY KNOWLEDGE BY NISSAN MOTOR COMP. AND PROVIDE RECALLS WHY MY HAVE TO BE EXCLUDE? THE POWER STEERING NOISE IS AT EVERY MOMENT WHEN ON AND RUNNING, POWER STEERING FLUID IS GOOD. THE TRANSMMISION IS DURING THE DRIVING WITH SOME NOISE AFTER 20 MILES DRIVE ON HIGHWAY BETWEEN 65 TO 70 MPH AND THEN PRESSING THE BRAKE, THE NOISE FEEL LIKE IT COME FROM THE TRANSMMISION. ANOTHER SITUATION IS OCACCIONALY SOME LOWT OF POWER AND SOME TIMES ACCELERATE. BRAKES PADS ARE GOOD, BRAKE FLUID IS GOOD. MY CAR MPG IS 31.2 AND MILEAGE AT THIS MOMENT IS 76,680.

CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY ON 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S WITH 92,000 MILES. VEHICLE BEGAN SHUDDERING AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING AT MODERATE SPEED IN TOWN. RPMS SHOT UP TO 3-4K INTERMITTENTLY WHILE MAINTAINING SPEED ON FLAT ROAD. STARTED TO HEAR GRINDING NOISE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT, SO PULLED INTO PARKING LOT. AFTER WAITING AN HOUR FOR POWER TRAIN TO COOL OFF, STARTED THE CAR AGAIN TO FIND TOTAL CVT FAILURE, WITH VEHICLE STALLING AND ENGINE SHUTTING OFF UPON SHIFTING INTO R OR D. COULD NOT EVEN DRIVE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARKING SPACE AFTER IT ROLLED BACKWARDS ON FIRST ATTEMPT TO MOVE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHO DIAGNOSED INTERNAL CVT FAILURE WITH $3800 QUOTE FOR REPAIR. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS CONTACTED NUMEROUS TIMES AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. NISSAN REGIONAL SPECIALIST STATED THAT 2007-2010 ALTIMA CVT WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 120,000 MILES DUE TO WIDESPREAD PROBLEMS, BUT THAT PROBLEMS HAD BEEN FIXED IN NEWER MODELS, SO NO WARRANTY EXTENSION APPLIED TO 2013 ALTIMA. AS OF APRIL 2018, THE 2013 ALTIMA HAS MORE POWER TRAIN COMPLAINTS TO NHTSA (241) THAN ALL OF THE 2007-2010 ALTIMA MODEL YEARS COMBINED (206). VEHICLE HAD TCM REPROGRAMMING PERFORMED AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2017 WITHIN TWO WEEKS AFTER RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT TO OWNER BY MAIL.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 35K MILES ON IT, I CAME TO A STOPLIGHT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND MY CAR CUT OFF COMPLETELY WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES, I COULD NOT MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL, IT JUST CUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO CUT MY CAR BACK ON, HOWEVER WHENEVER I SHIFTED MY GEAR INTO DRIVE IT CUT OFF AGAIN. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE BUT REPROGRAMMED MY CVT SINCE THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR MY CAR. THEY DETERMINED THAT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 25 MINUTES THAT DAY AND 25 MINUTES THE NEXT THAT THE CVT REPROGRAMMING COULD HAVE BEEN THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALER IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. 3 DAYS LATER MY CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND STALLING VERY ROUGHLY WHILE IN MOTION AND AGAIN CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE IN DRIVE. THIS TIME MY YOUNG SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME, AND HIM AND I COULD HAVE BOTH BEEN HARMED OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND HARMED SOMEONE ELSE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES OR THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO CUSTOMERS WITHOUT A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED USING THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DELAND NISSAN (2600 S WOODLAND BLVD, DELAND, FL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
LOW BEAM LIGHTS PROJECT LESS THAN 20FT (MEASURED PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, NO STREETLIGHTS OR OUTDOOR LIGHTING). IN RAINY CONDITIONS, HEADLIGHTS DO NOT APPEAR TO EVEN BE TURNED ON. BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE WITH DIFFERENT BRANDS AND NO IMPROVEMENT. UPON REMOVAL OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY, THE METAL REFLECTOR THAT PROJECTS LIGHT IS DETERIORATED AND BLACKENED. UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME IF OEM REPLACEMENT WILL DETERIORATE AGAIN AFTER REPLACEMENT.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I STOPPED AT AT RED LIGHT MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND CUT OFF, IT DID THAT A FEW TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF. SHOP COULDN'T DETECT ANYTHING IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER SHOP FOUND NOTHING AGAIN.
THE LOW HEADLIGHT BEAMS HAVE DIMMED OVER THE LAST SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES. THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE HIGH BEAMS. THEY ARE SO DIM THAT AT NIGHT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE AT ANY APPRECIABLE SPEED WITHOUT EXCEEDING THE RANGE OF THE DIM HEADLIGHTS, WITH THE RESULT THAT I MUST USE THE HIGH BEAMS IN ORDER TO HAVE EFFECTIVE LIGHTING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FILM COATING THE PORTION OF THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES THAT HOUSE THE LOW BEAM BULBS AND IT IS LIKELY THAT THE ONLY POSSIBLE SOLUTION IS REPLACEMENT OF BOTH HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,200. DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THIS AMOUNT OUT OF POCKET. FROM MY READING ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM (AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE) FOR THE 2013 ALTIMA THAT NISSAN HAS NOT ADDRESSED EFFECTIVELY.
THE LIGHTS ARE TOO DIM TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE BEAM DOES NOT REACH ME IF I STAND IN FRONT OF EITHER HEADLIGHT. I HAVE TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS TO FEEL SAFE DRIVING ON RURAL ROADS OR HIGHWAYS AFTER DARK. I HAVE HAD MANY NEAR - ACCIDENTS WITH CURB DIVIDERS IN THE CENTER LANES THAT ARE NOT WELL LIT BECAUSE MY LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME WELL ENOUGH! ONE INCIDENT ABOUT A YEAR AGO RESULTED IN A COLLISION OF MY CAR AND THE CURB DIVIDER-THERE WERE NO STREET LAMPS NEARBY, AND IT WAS DARK AND RAINY AND I SIMPLY DID NOT SEE THE DIVIDER DUE TO LACK OF HEADLIGHTS.
A RECALL WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO DO THIS RECALL. ONCE THIS RECALL WAS DONE, MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, ON MY CENTER DASHBOARD, ROUGHLY A MONTH LATER- CAR WAS STATIONARY. I WENT TO NISSAN TO ASSIST WITH THIS ISSUE FOR IT SEEMS RELATED TO PAST RECALL THAT WAS 'FIXED.' MORE THAN MYSELF HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAG DASH LIGHT.
WISH I HAD SEEN ALL THESE COMPLAINTS BEFORE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE 7 MONTHS AGO FOR WAY MORE THAN I SHOULD HAVE. WITHIN 3 MONTHS THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND I HAD TO SPEND $4,000 TO GET IT REBUILT. IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC 4 TIMES (LUCKILY UNDER THEIR WARRANTY) AND IS STILL MESSING UP EVERY FEW WEEKS. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A DEFECT THROUGH NISSAN AND THEY SHOULD TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY. I GUESS THEY WOULD RATHER GET A BAD REPUTATION AND LESS FUTURE SALES. MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING WHILE I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN TO TRANSPORT AND 2 SICK PARENTS. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELY ON THIS VEHICLE AND I CAN'T. VERY FRUSTRATING !!! IF I DIDN'T OWE SO MUCH ON IT, I WOULD DEFINITELY GET RID OF IT.
