TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE RELEASED, CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD, AND DETACHED THE FINDERS. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER WHERE A VIN SEARCH WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT OF THREE OPEN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V565000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON 12/17/15 ON AN ON RAMP TO A HIGHWAY, THE SECONDARY LATCH (RECALL PREVIOUSLY AT DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED 7/2015) FAILED CAUSING THE HOOD TO FLY UP. FILED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN WHO TOLD US TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THEY VERIFIED THE SECONDARY LATCH WAS NOT WORKING AND GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $3,200 IN DAMAGES. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR NISSAN TO APPROVE THE REPAIR OF THE LATCH AND DAMAGES. THEY NOW ARE TELLING US THAT THEY HAVE TO SEND AN ADJUSTER TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND THAT COULD TAKE WEEKS. IN THE MEAN TIME, WE ARE DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICHLE WITH CHILDREN.
RIGHT FRONT INSIDE DOOR HANDLE INOPERABLE. REPLACED INSIDE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY (PART NUMBER 80670-3TA0D)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE SUNROOF EXPLODED AND SMALL PARTICLES OF GLASS SHATTERED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SUNROOF SLIDING COVER WAS CLOSED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ENTIRE SUNROOF WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PREVIOUSLY OWNED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SV AND NOTICED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY A SHUDDER AND JUTTERING OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SUGGESTED A LOAD ON THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. IT CREATES A RELATIVELY LOUD SOUND AND A NOT VERY SMOOTH RIDE. YOU CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AS I BEGAN TO RESEARCH WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG I FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT TRANSMISSION BY MANY OWNERS. FIXES AND/OR EXPLANATIONS BY THE DEALERS HAVE RANGED FROM COMPLETE TRANSMISSION, TORQUE CONVERTER, VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY AND ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT TO REPROGRAMMING THE TRANSMISSION TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SUGGESTING THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR A CVT TRANSMISSION. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY PUBLISHED RECALL NOTICES OR SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND FROM MY RESEARCH A GOOD MANY INSTANCES OCCUR AFTER THE 60,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND IT HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I MAY BE FACING A COSTLY REPAIR IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE. I BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY LIVED THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE ONCE BEFORE WITH A 2005 FORD FIVE HUNDRED WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH ENDED UP COSTING ME CLOSE TO 2,000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE DEALER FIX IT OUT OF WARRANTY. IN MY VIEW I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT MANUFACTURERS ARE HAVING NIGHTMARISH PROBLEMS WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION AND SO THEY ARE TRYING TO BURY THE PROBLEM UNTIL WARRANTY EXPIRATION BECAUSE THE COST INCURRED BY THE MANUFACTURERS OF A MANDATED RECALL WOULD COST THEM MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR A PERMANENT FIX. I IMPLORE YOU TO BEGIN AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE VIABILITY AND RELIABILITY OF CVT TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGY ACROSS ALL MANUFACTURERS SO THAT THE PUBLIC CAN BEST BE SERVED BY THE TRUTH, THE INHERENT PROBLEMS AND THE PERMANENT RESOLUTION OF WHAT ALSO CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MANY MOTORISTS. MY CAR JERKS HARD AT LOW SPEED AROUND 15-20 MPH WHILE DECELERATING ON CITY STREETS. IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC THE CVT TRANNY IS AT ITS WORSE. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANNY CAN'T DECIDE WHAT IT NEEDS TO DO. ALSO, BETWEEN 60-65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THERE IS A JUDDER FEELING LIKE THE CAR IS MOVING ACROSS A WASH BOARD. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER ON 02DEC15, TCM WAS REPROGRAMED. 08DEC15, CAR HAS THE SAME ISSUE.
PURCHASED CAR MAY OF 2013, PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED AND ONLY 21000MILES. FROM ONSET OF OWNERSHIP, BRAKES MADE NOISES, "CYCLOP BRAKE LIGHT IN REAR WINDOW WOULD BLINK CONSTANTLY, DASH LIGHTS WOULD GO FROM DIM TO BRIGHT ALL THE TIME. THE CAR WOULD HESITATE WHEN LEAVING STOP POSITION, PUSHING ELECTRONIC START BUTTON WOULD NOT WORK OFTEN. DEALERSHIP ALWAYS SAID THAT THE SITUATION COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. ON DEC. 2ND, 2015 WHILE DRIVING HOME I WAS APPROACHING A STOPPED CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO SLOW BELOW THE 20MPH I WAS DRIVING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND ALL DASH LIGHTS WENT BLANK AND THE CAR STALLED RESULTING IN A COLLISION. THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR OVER 2 HOURS. THE DEALERSHIP ASKED ABOUT THE KEY FOB LOCATION AND BATTERY CONDITION AND THE BATTERIES WERE GOOD AND KEY FOB WAS ON FRONT SEAT WHERE IT ALWAYS WAS. I FILED A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON DEC, 4TH 2015 AND CONSTANTLY GOT RUN-AROUNDS WITH NO CALL BACKS SEVERAL TIME. I WAS LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND NO HELP FROM DEALERSHIP OR NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. WHILE READING THE MANY COMPLAINTS OF OTHER ALTIMA'S I WAS SO CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND HEALTH I PURCHASED ANOTHER CAR. I BELIEVE I HAD AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE FROM THE BEGINNING AND IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED AND IT ENDED UP WITH A COLLISION INVOLVING ANOTHER CAR.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS OFF (LIGHT SWITCHES ON) EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE CARSEAT. THE PROBLEM WAS CONSISTENT AROUND 1.5 YEARS BACK AND THERE WAS A NISSAN RECALL THAT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS. BY CONSISTENT, I MEAN THE AIR BAG WAS DEFINITELY SWITCHED OFF REGARDLESS OF WHETHER A PASSENGER IS PRESENT OR NOT. NOW THE PROBLEM IS BACK ALTHOUGH THE LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF CONSISTENTLY. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT IS OFF AND SOMETIMES IT IS ON. I WROTE TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR JUST WENT OFF WARRANTY AND THE DIAGNOSIS ITSELF IS $161.
The indicator light on the dashboard has been lit for SEVERAL YEARS and remains lit showing that the STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG (a safety issue) is non-functioning. This is an electronic issue, and not the result of misuse. This has been reported several times already and nothing has been done. I AM NOT prepared to pay $5000 to have this analyzed abd repaired when it clearly is A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE RESPOND.
THE NATURE OF MY COMPLAINT IS CENTERED AROUND THE NOW DEFUNCT TRANSMISSION (CVT) IN MY 2013 NISS ALT SV ONLY HAS 82000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN PRIMARILY AS A COMMUTER CAR TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY (164 MILES) ROUNDTRIP. THERE WERE NO CODES, HAD THE CAR CHECKED BY THE LOCAL AUTO ZONE. THE FIRST NOTICEABLE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH, 2015, I WAS COMING HOME FROM ABOUT A 150-MILE TRIP AND STOPPED TO TAKE A RESTROOM BREAK, PARKED THE CAR, RAN INTO THE STORE, CAME BACK OUT AND CRANKED IT UP. WHEN I STARTED TO BACKUP THE CAR BOBBLED AND SHUTTERED SOMETHING FIERCE AND WENT DEAD. AFTER MAKING IT TO THE INTERSTATE I TRAVELED ABOUT 15 MILES TO THE NEXT TOWN, WHEN I GOT TO THE STOP LIGHT THE CAR DIED. I MANAGED TO CRANK IT BACK UP AND GET HER GOING AGAIN ON MY WAY HOME. AFTER MAKING IT HOME THE CAR WAS PARKED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. GOING BACK TO WORK THE NEXT DAY WITH NO PROBLEMS (NOV 30TH, 2015), ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE CAR WAS VERY SLUGGISH IN RESPONSE TO THROTTLE AND FELT LIKE IT WASN'T DOWNSHIFTING, SOMETHING WAS RIGHT'I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND SETUP SERVICE FOR DECEMBER 03, 2015 AND TOLD THEM THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE LOOKED AT. ABOUT 3 MILES FROM THE HOUSE THE CAR WAS HAVING SOME DEFINITE PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT HOME AND PARKED THE CAR THINKING NOTHING OF IT. A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER I DECIDED TO LEAVE FOR A BITE TO EAT, WHEN I GOT IN AND PUT IT IN GEAR, NOTHING, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. CALLED NISSAN USA AND OPENED A CASE, HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP DEC 01, 2015. THE NEXT DAY DEC 02, 2015 THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION HAD AN 'INTERNAL FAILURE' (NO CODES) AND THE COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE AROUND $3200, NISSAN IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND DENIES THAT THERE IS A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE CVT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, ON SOME OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED SEVERELY WHILE IDLING. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
DASHBOARD CLUSTER WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. LOST SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER AND ALL OTHER GAUGES ETC. CAR ONLY HAD 42,000 MILES ON IT. I TURNED MY CAR ON AND STARTED DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT WHEN IT WENT OUT. I PULLED OVER, RESTARTED MY CAR AND STILL NOTHING. HAD TO EXIT CAR TO SEE IF LIGHTS/BLINKERS WERE WORKING AND THEY STILL WERE, BUT NO SIGN FROM INSIDE THAT THEY WERE. DROVE HOME AND SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. NISSAN NOT EVEN WILLING TO ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ABOUT A $1,000 REPAIR, WITH CAR JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY.

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG REMAINS DISABLED WHEN FULL SIZED ADULT IS SITTING IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER OVER ONE YEAR AGO FOR RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. NEW RECALL ISSUED OCT 2015, TOOK VEHICLE TO NISSAN FOR FIX ON 11/24/15. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX, SAY THEY HAVE NO WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. NISSAN STATES I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH INOPERABLE PASSENGER AIR BAGS. SHOWED NISSAN SERVICE DEPT VIDEO OF FULL SIZED ADULT SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT, VEHICLE RUNNING, AND "AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN CENTER OF DASH. NISSAN STATES THERE IS NO FAULT IN THE SYSTEM, AND PASSENGER SHOULD JUST "MOVE THEIR LEGS" TO ARM THE SYSTEM. PASSENGER SEATING POSITION DOES NOT ARM AIRBAG OR ALTER THE FUNCTION OF THE FAULTY SYSTEM. PROBLEM OCCURS RANDOMLY, WITH VEHICLE MOVING/STATIONARY.
RANDOMLY, THE AIRBAG SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE INDICATES AS BEING OFF EVEN WHEN THERE IS SOMEONE SEATING ON IT. THIS ISSUE (SUPPOSEDLY) WAS ALREADY BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WHEN A RECALLED WAS IMPLEMENTED FOR THIS ISSUE. BUT IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V029000 (LATCHES/LOCK/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY 140 LBS. THE YELLOW AIRBAG OFF LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. IT USUALLY GOES OUT AFTER ABOUT FIVE SECONDS. SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON. I SOMETIMES PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND IT USUALLY GOES OUT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY RESET THE COMPUTER. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH THE DEALER. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS A WEIGHT ISSUE WITH THE PERSON SITTING IN THE SEAT. 140 LBS AND UNDER THE LIGHT MIGHT COME ON. LOOKING ONLINE, IT LOOKS LIKE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN LIGHT IS ON, AIR BAGS WON'T DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT OCCURS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE OCS WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THIS IS A COMBINATION OF PROBLEMS. APPROXIMATELY AROUND NOV. 7, 2015 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE AT THE DEALER (ALMOST ONE YEAR AFTER THE LAST TIME). I HAVE NOT OWNED MY VEHICLE 2 YEARS YET. I THOUGHT THEY HAD TAKEN CARE OF IT WHEN THEY TOLD ME THE LIGHT SHOULDN'T COME BACK ON. THEY SAID THE CODE WAS FOR REPROGRAMMING THE MASS AIR SYSTEM. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME LIGHT CAME ON BUT THIS TIME I LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD A COUPLE OF CLOSE CALLS ON BEING REAR-ENDED WHILE HAVING MY SON IN THE CAR. I HAD TO GET OFF IMMEDIATELY AND DRIVE DOWN TO THE DEALER WHICH TOOK ME IT SEEMED FOREVER BECAUSE IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. I HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS CLOSING. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT IT REQUIRED REPROGRAMMING OF THE MASS AIR SYSTEM. I HAD THEM DO IT BUT IT TOOK THEM 1 DAY TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ME. ABOUT 2 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THIS TIME FINDING THE PROBLEM WASN'T AS EASY. THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE LETTING ME KNOW THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE THROTTLE CHAMBER REPLACED. REALLY NOW...CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON A TOTAL OF 2 TIMES IN 1 YEAR + 2 MORE TIME IN ANOTHER YEAR, 1 ALTERNATOR REPLACED IN 1 YEAR , 1 THROTTLE CHAMBER REPLACED IN ALMOST 2 YEARS, LEAKING REAR SHOCKS IN 1 YEAR AND NISSAN DOES NOTHING TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE WHICH IS A CONSTANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER IS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THIS RECURRING PROBLEM BY THE NISSAN DEALER LAST WEEK UNDER THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PERFORMED BY THE DEALER HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE AIRBAG RECALL AND PRIMARY HOOD LATCH ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THE LIGHT WAS SUPPOSE TO COME ON AND THEN GO OFF, TO SHOE THAT IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE HOOD LATCH HAD BEEN OILED. *JB
JUST PURCHASED NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 SL WITH 24,000 MILES STILL UNDER NEW CAR WARRANTY IN SEPT. PAYING $400 MONTHLY. ACCIDENTALLY BUMPED COFFEE CUP WHEN GETTING INTO CAR. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE SHIFTER STICKS IN PARK, AND YOU CAN'T GET IT OUT UNLESS YOU PAY NISSAN $1000 TO REPLACE IT. I PAYED THEM $120 TO CLEAN. IT DIDN'T WORK. MY BOSS HAS A $45,000 NISSAN TITAN, AND HE HAS TO USE A SCREW DRIVER LIKE I DO TO PUSH DOWN IN THE LITTLE OPENING BESIDE THE GEARS. YOU HAVE TO LIFT THE LITTLE BOX LID TO THE LEFT OF THE GEARS. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS. I AM SINGLE, AND STRUGGLING TO MAKE THE CAR PAYMENT ALREADY, AND I WORK IN A REAL BAD AREA. MY SAFETY IS A CONCERN IF I CAN'T LEAVE AS QUICKLY AS I ENTER THE CAR. NISSAN DENIES THAT THIS IS THEIR FAULT AND IS TRYING TO STICK IT TO NISSAN CONSUMERS. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN, AND HAVE ALREADY TOLD 2 ALTIMA OWNERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I SEE WHO IS CONSIDERING PURCHASING A NISSAN, OR HAS ONE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK.
POWER SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK UNLESS YOU PAY NISSAN $1000 TO REPAIR. YOU CAN DO A MANUAL OVERRIDE USING A SCREWDRIVER, BUT IF YOU FORGET TO PUT THE BRAKES ON, YOU WILL GO INTO REVERSE AUTOMATICALLY WHICH CAN DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION, OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN TRUCK. NISSAN SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY A DRINK BEING SPILLED, AND IT ONLY TAKES A DROP OR TWO. I ACCIDENTALLY BUMPED MY COFFEE CUP WHEN GETTING INTO THE CAR. A DEALER TRIED TO CLEAN THE SHIFTER, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK, AND THEY CHARGED ME $120 DOLLARS. CAR IS STATIONARY.
CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AFTER DRIVING OVER 20 MILES. CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TWICE, HOWEVER, THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. CAR SHAKES, SHUDDERS, CUTS OFF. CAR WILL RESTART BUT GAS HAS TO PRESSED EXCESSIVELY HARD FOR ENGINE TO TURN OVER, CAR CONTINUE TO JERK WHILE RESTARTING. LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY CAR FOR 30 DAYS! I WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN AMERICA WAS CONTACTED FOR DIRECTION, CAR MAY REQUIRE SOFTWARE UPGRADE AND/OR NEW TRANSMISSION. WHICH IS SPECULATION! THE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT THEY ARE NOT 100% THAT THIS SOLUTION WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2013 AND PRIOR YEAR MODELS. I WILL ALSO FILE ANOTHER FORMAL COMPLIANT WITH NISSAN AMERICA. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS IT RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING OTHER THAN THE VIOLENT SHAKING AND SHUDDER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE CAR SHUTS OFF! THUS FAR THE CAR CUTS OFF WHEN STATIONARY, IF THE GAS IS PRESSED BEFORE THE CAR CUTS OFF COMPLETELY THE CAR WILL SELF CORRECT AND NOT SHUT OFF. THE CAR STALLED AT THE LIGHT SO WE HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THEN PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO START THE CAR, AND THEN PUT IN DRIVE. THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD BUT STALLED AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION. WE REPEATED THE START UP PROCESS AND THE CAR DROVE HOME. THIS MORNING THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. WE CALLED NISSAN AND THEY ADVISED THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS. THIS CAR IS SIMPLY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS STATE. WE DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT A DEALER THIS MORNING. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT CYCLE OFF WHEN A ADULT IS ON BOARD. THIS OCCURS APROX 15% OF THE TIME AND REQUIRES THE CAR TO BE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED. THIS MITIGATES THE PROBLEM MOST OF THE TIME. CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 3 OCCASIONS TO INCLUDE THE SPRING 14 ALGORITHM RECALL. IF ANYTHING, THE COMPUTER REPROGRAM MADE IT WORSE. NISSAN DEALERS HAVE NO FIX AND IGNORE THE PROBLEM. DEALER TREATS ME LIKE IT IS MY IMAGINATION EVEN THOUGH I HAVE VIDEO RECORDED THE LIGHT ON AT SPEED SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES. MY CAR IS A LEASE AND IT IS GOING BACK IN 6 MONTHS. THIS PROBLEM IS DEPENDENT ON THE "BOOT" PROCESS FAILING. THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON DURING TRAVEL IF IT PROPERLY CYCLES WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. IF THE LIGHT SUCCESSFULLY GOES OUT 5 SECONDS AFTER START, IT STAYS OUT. I AM ASSUMING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS ENGAGED AND WILL FUNCTION? IT'S BEEN 2 WEEK AND STILL WAITING FOR WARRANTY CLAIMS TO APPROVE FIX. HOOD IS VIBRATING WHEN I GO OVER 55MPH AND SO AFRAID THIS NIGHTMARE MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN.

A NISSAN REP SAID TODAY, OCTOBER 29, 2015, THAT IF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS TO DEPLOY WHILE OCCUPIED BY MY WIFE(5' 5" 180 POUNDS) OR DAUGHTER(4' 10" 130 POUNDS) THAT "THEY WOULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED." I HAVE PICTURES AND VIDEOS SHOWING THE MALFUNCTION. IT HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS DATES.

THE SLUGGISH AND NONRESPONSIVE ACCELERATION OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING AND CAN BE ON A FLAT OR INCLINE SURFACE.

MY CAR WAS A PART OF THE ALTIMA AIRBAG RECALL IN 2014. THE ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE DEALER. THE ALTIMA HAS ALWAYS HAD THE ISSUE OF THE PASSENGER SEAT NOT REGISTERING IT'S OCCUPANT ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE FIXED THIS WAS TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND RECALIBRATE THE SYSTEM. TODAY, NOTHING WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT YET THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT LIGHT WERE LIT. THIS MEANS THAT THE ALTIMA BELIEVED SOMEONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE FOR A PASSENGER TO SIT IN THE ALTIMA.

WHICH I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST LOOKED AT BECAUSE IF MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE OR IF I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT I COULDN'T HAVE GOT OUT OF THE CAR FAST. I WAS ALSO CHARGED FOR THIS REPAIR WHICH NOW I AM FIGHTING WITH NISSAN BECAUSE I AM STILL UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED MANY NEW VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. THIS IS MY THIRD NISSAN AND MY SECOND ONE BOUGHT FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED, WHILE THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY COMING FROM THE MAIN STREET. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COULD NO LONGER MOVE. AFTER REVIEW BY MECHANICS THEY DEEMED THE ISSUE BEING THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR WAS NEWLY PURCHASED AT 88K MILES. NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY WAS PICKED UP NISSAN AFTER I WAS ASSURED THAT THE NEW CVT WAS GREAT ON THE NEW MODELS.
THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR WOULD MAINTAIN SPEED BUT WAS VERY, VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN I EXITED THE INTERSTATE, IT ONLY IDLED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. EVENTUALLY IT SPUTTERED AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, JUST HAPPENED TO BE AT THAT SAME EXIT IN VICKSBURG, MS. AFTER DOING RESEARCH WHILE STUCK AT THE HOTEL THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THE THE CVT'S IN 2013 ALTIMAS. THE CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND SHUTTERING BEFORE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED IT IS GETTING WORSE. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT WILL JERK AND SHUTTER.
