TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATED WHENEVER HE SHIFTED FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR AND THEN SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE MOUNTS; YET, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE TO NO AVAIL. THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. NORMAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
I HAVE HAD MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA FOR SIX YEARS. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. THE CAR SLAMS INTO GEAR AND JERKS INTO FIRST GEAR WHEN STARTING TO DRIVE. IT BANGS AND THROWS ME FORWARD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 1ST GEAR. IT ALSO THROWS ME INTO GEAR WHEN GOING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. IT HAS ABOUT 76,197 MILES. AT 70,000 MILES THE STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED I REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, BY FILING A FORMAL COMPLAINT. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I TOLD NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WHAT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA, IT WILL COST ME A TOTAL OF $3553.13 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ON THE 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA , I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY WHILE SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR OR FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 20 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY 50,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE REPAIRED, ONLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC SHOP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE REAR WHEEL HUB AND THE ABS SENSOR SO I DID WHICH COST ME $800 DOLLARS. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY GET A LOT OF MAXIMA IN THERE SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID IT WAS A NISSAN MANUFACTURERS FLAW. SO MAKE THE LONG STORY SHORT AFTER I REPLACED THE HUB AND THE ABS SENSOR MY ABS LIGHT STILL STAYS ON AND NOW I NEED AND ABS CONTROL MODULE WHICH WENT BAD BECAUSE OF THE WHEEL HUB GETTING RUSTY. *TR
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA, MY WIFE CAR DRIVEN ONLY TO AND FROM WORK (77,000 MILES) HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE, MOTOR MOUNTS, ENGINE REPLACEMENT, DEALERSHIP SERVICE LIES TO PERFORM WORK AND CHARGE FOR PROBLEMS THEY KNOW COULDN'T BE CORRECTED, TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE IS THE LATEST AND CODES WHICH NOBODY CAN SEEM TO DESCRIBE, IF THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX IT WHO CAN!!! THE LATEST PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION, AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS FROM NISSAN CUSTOMERS, I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY OR TIME TO INVEST IN A NEVER ENDING PROBLEM SO ALL I WILL DO IS ADD A TRANSMISSION ADDITIVE TO TRY TO REDUCE THIS PROBLEM. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY, NISSAN HAS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IMMEDIATELY AND THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR PERFORMING SERVICES THAT KNOW WILL NOT CURE THE ISSUES AT HAND. WHEN GOING UP HILL, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS GEARS AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STOP MOMENTARILY. IT HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY, MORE FREQUENT NOW THAN 5 YEARS AGO WHEN I FIRST NOTIFIED NISSAN OF THE PROBLEM. I HAD TAKEN IT IN THE PAST TO 3 DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERS, I GOT 3 DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. MADE MOST OF THE REPAIRS BUT THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. I WAS FINALLY TOLD BY WOODLAND HILLS CALIFORNIA NISSAN THAT IT WAS THE COMPUTER LINK TO THE TRANSMISSION NOT RECEIVING PROPER SIGNALS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. AT APPROXIMATELY 80,000 MILES, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK WHEN UPSHIFTING AND DOWNSHIFTING FROM THE 1, 2, AND 3 GEARS. BETWEEN 80,000 MILES AND 90,000 MILES, THE JERKING WORSENED AND BECAME HARD JERKS. THE PROBLEM WAS PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE IN TRAFFIC, WHEN GOING UNDER 35 MPH OR AT FREEWAY OFF RAMPS (WHEN I DECELERATE FROM FREEWAY SPEED AND THEN ACCELERATE INTO A TURN). AT 91,000 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A 90,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. DEALER CLAIMED NO PROBLEMS. I DID A PARTIAL TRANSMISSION FLUSH PER DEALER SUGGESTION. 2 WEEKS LATER, THE CAR JERKED VERY HARD DURING A SLOW LEFT TURN. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TURNED ON. AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION, THE CAR WAS BETWEEN 2,000-3,000 RPM AT A STOP. THEN, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN I APPLIED GAS. I REVVED THE CAR TO NEARLY 4,000 RPM AND THE CAR MOVED VERY SLOWLY. IT TOOK A VERY LONG TIME TO GET TO TRAFFIC SPEED. I DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION WAS DEAD. THEY SUGGESTED I GET A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR OVER $4,000. I HAVE READ MANY, MANY WEBSITES WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF THE 2004 MODEL YEAR NISSAN MAXIMA. I WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I WANT NISSAN TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I WAS ALMOST HIT MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND IN TRAFFIC!! *TR

04 NISSAN MAXIMA STARTED SLIPPING IN 3RD GEAR AND FROM REV. TO DRIVE AROUND 63,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION AND VALVE BODIES NEED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SOLENOIDS. NOT TO MENTION A BROKEN AXLE WHEN TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC. IN LIGHT OF THE TOYOTA DEBACLE, WHEN WILL YOU MAKE NISSAN "DO THE RIGHT THING?" *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A DIFFICULTY WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE ENGINE REVVED BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY DID SHIFT INTO GEAR, IT WOULD JUMP FROM SECOND GEAR TO FIFTH GEAR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY.THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE FOR FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR THE BODY VALVE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I PURCHASED A NISSAN 2004 MAXIMA SE WITH 31,500 MILES ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, I HAVE 79,000 MILES NOW WHICH I'M STILL PAYING $550 PER MONTH. NOW I'M NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT MY PAYMENTS ITS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING IN A MAXIMA. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELIABLE VEHICLES, KNOWN FOR BEING GREAT CARS. HERE IS MY PROBLEM, THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT. NOT BECAUSE I MISTREAT THE CAR ITS THE NEW TRANNY SYSTEMS THAT WERE IMPLEMENTED IN 2004. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A VIOLENT SHIFTING PROBLEM, IT JERKS INTO 3RD GEAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING JERKING ME INTO THE WINDSHIELD, I HIT MY HEAD WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THEN AFTER SOME RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET I'VE FOUND THAT MANY NISSAN CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY DIDN'T GET INJURED BUT ALSO FEEL UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED , THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS FOR SAFETY REASONS. THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AS THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,050.
AT APPROXIMATELY 89000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. NISSAN DEALERS TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AS TIME WENT ON IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING. JUST RECENTLY WE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DOING THE SAME THING BUT GOT WORSE AND WOULD SLIP AND BANG INTO GEAR AT TAKE OFF. THIS HAS BEEN DANGEROUS BECAUSE WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS IT HESITATES FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT TAKES OFF MAKING IT DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. WE NOTIFIED THE NISSAN DEALERS AGAIN AND THEY TOLD US THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE BEEN LIED TO MANY TIMES BY THE SERVICE CENTERS OF THE DEALER. WE CURRENTLY BOUGHT A NEW 2010 MAXIMA AND THINGS SEEM TO BE OK. I REALLY WISH THAT NISSAN WOULD OWN UP TO THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS TRANSMISSION. I RECENTLY BROUGHT THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS QUOTED A $3600.00 REPLACEMENT COST. I BELIEVE THIS IS UNFAIR AND THAT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED THEY SHOULD REPLACE THIS FAULTY PART AT NO COST AND REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN I PUT ON BRAKES WITH PEDAL & STEERING WHEEL VIBRATIONS DEC 2009, I TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANIC SHOPS FOR THE PROBLEM & WAS TOLD I NEEDED FRONT & BACK BRAKES & ROTORS WHICH I PURCHASED COSTING OVER $700.00 AND THE PROBLEM WASN'T RESOLVED, I TOOK THE CAR TO JEFFREY NISSAN DEALER IN ROSEVILLE,MI AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, THIS WENT ON FOR OVER A MONTH AND FINALLY THE ABS LIGHT & BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME NISSAN DEALER AT WHICH TIME I WAS INFORMED THAT MY ABS SYSTEM HAD WENT, COSTING ME $2400.00 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS(IN ADDITION TO THE $700.00 DOLLARS ALREADY SPENT FOR A TOTAL OF $3100.00 DOLLARS). I BELIEVE THE ABS SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY NISSAN AND LOOKING AT ALL THE OTHER COMMENTS REGARDING THE 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN 1 AND 2. I TOOK IT TO A TRANNY PLACE AND THEY PLUGGED IN AND GOT ANY ELECTRONIC CODE. THE TRANNY CODE FOR MY MAXIMA WAS A 726 WHICH DEALS WITH THE ENGINE SPEED SENSOR. THE TRANNY TECH FOUND AN ARTICLE IN "TRANSMISSION DIGEST" THAT DEALT WITH A BAD VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CAUSING HARD SHIFTING BUT THE ARTICLE WAS CONCERNING CODE 720. THE TECH ASSURED ME THAT HE HAD READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE ENGINES SPEED SENSOR WAS PROBABLY THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT WANT TO REBUILD OR REPLACE THIS TRANNY AND IT APPEARS THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OVER THE WEB ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REPLACING PARTS, FLUSHING THEIR TRANSMISSION, ETC BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THE HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND. THANKS FOR ANY HELP. *TR

2004 NISSAN MAXIMA: OCTOBER 7, 2009 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SEVERAL MILES LATER AS WE ENTERED OUR DRIVE WAY THE CAR STARTED TO SHUT DOWN. I NOTICE SOME JERKING AND METAL RATTLING NOISE AS I SLOW DOWN. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. AT THIS TIME THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE, BUT ONCE I TURN THE ENGINE OFF I COULD NOT START THE CAR AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP WERE I PURCHASE THE CAR HAS DONE ALL THE SERVICES, AND YES THEY DID FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION. TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT KNOW. *TR
FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS MY ABS SYSTEM WOULD ENGAGE IN THE MORNING FOR ABOUT 5 MILES OR SO EVERY TIME I TRIED TO STOP. AFTER THAT THEY WERE FINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FEW SHOPS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE WHEN THIS WAS HAPPENING THE ABS LIGHTS WERE NOT SHOWING IN THE DASH THAT IT WAS PROBABLE THAT IT WAS A BRAKE PROBLEM INSTEAD. I REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WITH NO LUCK. THREE MONTHS LATER THE WHOLE ABS SYSTEM FAILED AND BLEW OUT. *TW
THE JERKING AND SLIPPING OF THE 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA'S TRANSMISSION IS DANGEROUS! IT NEARLY THROWS MY 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER INTO THE BACK OF MY DRIVER'S SEAT EVERYTIME IT SWITCHES GEARS!!!! I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH FOUR GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA TIRES. TWO OF WHICH HAD SIDEWALL CRACKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PUT IN A REQUEST TO GOODYEAR REGARDING THIS SAFETY HAZARD AND WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT/REPLACEMENT. I NOW HAVE A THIRD TIRE THAT HAS GONE FLAT DUE TO SIDEWALL CRACKING. GOODYEAR IS FAILING TO RECOGNIZE THIS DEFECT OR ITS DANGER. I SIMPLY AM ASKING FOR REPLACEMENT AS THESE TIRES ARE FAR FROM WORN. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. IT JERKS REAL HARD WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT STAYS IN HIGH GEAR WHEN I DRIVE. I HAVE A NISSAN MAXIMA THAT I HAD TO REPLACE ALL TIRES BECAUSE OF A DEFECT THAT CAME TO ME IN THE MAIL AFTER I BROUGHT MY NEW TIRES AND WAS NOT REIMBURSED. I ALSO HAD PROBLEM WITH FRONT ROTORS THAT THEY KEPT REPLACING NUMEROUS TIMES UNTIL MY WARRANT RAN OUT AND THAN I HAD TO REPLACE THEM WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE ROTORS SO IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.NOW AFTER ALL OF THAT AND MORE I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION BECAUSE OUT OF NOWHERE MY TRANSMISSION BLEW UP AFTER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT BECAUSE OF YEARS NOT MILEAGE AND NO MATTER WHERE I WENT I WAS TOLD THAT IF I WOULD REPLACE IT WITH A NEW OR USE TRANSMISSION THAT I WOULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE WANTS TO WORK ON IT.I WAS TOLD BY MECHANICS THAT ONLY THE 2004 HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *TR
