TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION GEARS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT CAUSED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED IT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. I HAVE OWNED 4 IN MY LIFE TIME. THIS MODEL HAS BEEN BY THE WORST! I'VE OWNED THE 86, 92, 00, 04. I PURCHASED THE 04 MODEL WITH 28K MILES ON IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO WATER BEING TRAPPED INSIDE THE AC UNIT. I MAY HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 OR 7 TIMES. MOST RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN THE TRANSMISSION. IT STARTED AROUND 80K (RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED) IT JERKS EXTREMELY HARD WHEN ACCELERATING, AND IT JERKS ABOUT THE SAME WHEN I SLOW DOWN. I THOUGHT THIS HAD BEEN REPAIRED. I SPENT 1661.00 AT WITH ANOTHER MECHANIC FOR FEAR OF BEING OVER CHARGED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SAW SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO DO A RECALL DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSIONS THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE. READING FROM ANOTHER PERSONS POST, I REALIZED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE TO ME AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY FOR ALL DAMAGES, NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS! IT IS NOT FAIR TO MAKE THE CONSUMER PAY FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE NISSAN DECIDED TO CUT A FEW CORNERS. I ALSO THINK THAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE TO RE-IMBURSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SPENT THEIR MONEY ON HAVING THE TRANSMISSIONS REPAIRED. *TR
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE I HIT AROUND THE 100K MARK. THE PROBLEM IN DETAIL IS A HARD JERKING/KICK WHEN I GO IN AND OUT OF 1ST GEAR. IT ONLY SEEMS TO DO IT ONCE THE CAR IS FULLY WARMED UP AND/OR WHEN I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 45 MINS. IT IS ALSO MORE NOTICEABLE WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR ON ROADS WITH MANY LIGHTS---OF COURSE... I DID MY RESEARCH AND ALOT OF 2004-5 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THAT SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN WILL NOT RECALL THE TRANSMISSION, SO I AM WILLING TO GO THROUGH THE CORRECT PROCEDURE TO SEE IF THIS WILL HELP US GET OUR PROBLEMS FIXED OR REIMBURSED FOR GETTING THE TRANS FIXED ON OUR OWN. 2004 MAXIMA TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2004 MODEL, YET NO RECALL FROM NISSAN. *TR
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA 120000 MILES. IT SEEMS TO BE HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING INTO 1ST TO 3RD GEAR. FIRST, WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR. IT SEEMS TO EITHER HESITATE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR AND ONCE IT DOES IT SHIFTS IN A HORRIBLE KNOCK! IT USUALLY SLIPS FROM 1ST TO 2ND, OR 2ND TO 3RD. IT CAUSES THE CAR TO REV AND SHIFTS WHEN IT WANTS. THAT MAKES IT SNAP EVEN HARDER. THIS TO ME SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS. COME TO FIND OUT THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS MAYBE THOUSANDS OF NISSAN OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHY ISN'T NISSAN REPAIRING THIS APPARENT MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN HIGH GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.

STARTING ALMOST A YEAR AGO, AROUND 90,000 MILES, MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA BEGAN JERKING VERY HARD WHEN GOING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND EVEN MORE WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. IT HAPPENS EVERY NOW AND THEN, MOSTLY WHEN THE CAR IS WARMED UP. FEELS LIKE I'VE BEEN HIT FROM THE BACK BY A TRAIN! THE BRAKES ALSO DO A WEIRD JERK WHEN SLOWING DOWN NOW. AND WHEN I RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL TO TURN A CORNER, ETC...THEN PRESS THE GAS AGAIN, IT JERKS A LOT THEN TOO. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, BUT IT'S MORE OFTEN NOW AND I JUST WONDER WHEN I'LL BE LEFT ON THE ROAD STRANDED. *TR
I HAVE BEEN TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. I HAVE SPENT OVER $2000 ON THE ABS SYSTEM AND IT IS STILL NOT CORRECTED. I REPLACED A RR SENSOR AND ALSO THE ABS MODULE. NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE ANOTHER SENSOR IN THE LR AND REPLACE THE MODULE AGAIN. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL JERKED AND I COULD HEAR A NOISE UNDER THE PEDAL THAT SOUNDED LIKE WIRES BURNING. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT I HAVE SPENT $2300 AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND I SEEMS LIKE I AM GOING TO HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER $2300 TO HAVE PROPERLY FUNCTIONING BRAKES. THANKS NISSAN. *TR

THE ONLY SUGGESTED SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH NISSAN SHOULD PAY FOR BECAUSE OF THEIR DEFECTIVE WORK. I TOOK THE CAR TO A SHOP AN WAS TOLD THAT THE VALVE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE VALVE BODY SHOULD NOT BE A WEARABLE COMPONENT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON IT. NOW THE CAR SITS MOST OF THE TIME BECAUSE I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX IT. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA IN MID 2006 AS A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM BEGAN NEARLY A YEAR AGO WHEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, IT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GET STUCK ON 5TH GEAR. I TRIED DOWNSHIFTING MANUALLY AND THE GEAR WOULD BE STUCK ON 5TH GEAR. IN ORDER TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND PUT THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO RESTART THE CAR. AT TIMES IT WOULD BE STUCK ON 5TH GEAR, OTHER TIMES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE BACK TO NORMAL. WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK BETWEEN GEARS. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE A SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED, NOW THE VEHICLE JERKS WHEN CHANGING GEARS. MY NEIGHBOR ACROSS THE STREET HAD THE SAME CAR AND ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY HAD A CHOICE TO REPLACE THAT TRANSMISSION FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $5000. MY NEIGHBOR INSTEAD REPLACED THE MAXIMA FOR A DIFFERENT CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTING PREMATURELY FOR A CLIMATE THAT WAS PRIMARILY WARM AND DRY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN EXPENSE OF $4,000.00. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 140,000. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS ADVISED THAT SHE COULD HAVE THE FUEL SYSTEM FLUSHED. SHE WILL TRADE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AFTER JUST 2 HOURS FROM PICKING IT UP IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT. NISSAN WILL NOT EVEN OFFER TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION OR PROVIDE ATLEAST HALF OF THEIR COST SINCE IT IS THEIR CRAPPY PRODUCT THAT IS GOING BAD ON EVERYONE'S 04 CARS. MY CAR STARTED WITH THE JERKING INTO GEAR AND GETTING WORSE WHEN IT HEATS UP. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE THE GUTS TO MAKE NISSAN PAY EVERY MAXIMA CAR OWNER TIME , FRUSTRATION, TOWING, REPAIR, AND A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHAT WE DESERVE!!!! *TR
THE CAR STARTED JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. IT STALLS OUT AS YOU ACCELERATE FROM 20 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS DANGEROUS. AFTER RESEARCHING, SIMILAR MODELS AND YEAR OF MY CAR ARE ALL COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT JUST WEAR AND TEAR. THIS MODEL CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE ANY INJURIES ARE REPORTED. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO BE NOTICED AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP. IT STARTED OCCURRING NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEN STARTED SLIPPING AS IT SHIFTS GEARS. TOOK IT TO SHOP TO SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE TO FIX THIS FAILURE. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. EVERY CAR IN THIS YEAR AND MODEL IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE IS ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE. *TR

THIS PAST SATURDAY THE CAR ACTUALLY DIED ON ME AND NOW IT'S STUCK IN 5TH GEAR AND NON DRIVABLE WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE. WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE AROUND 4000 TO REBUILD WHICH IS MONEY I DON'T HAVE AND I TOOK CAR OF THIS CAR. TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD NOT FAIL WITH ONLY 93,000 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL YEAR OF THE MAXIMA. NISSAN NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE AND RECALL THESE CARS BECAUSE AT THIS POINT IT'S A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE HANDLED NOW. AT ABOUT 35000 MILES I NOTICED MY VEHICLE JERKING (INITIALLY IT WAS MILD, LATELY IT HAS BEEN VIOLENT JERKS) WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN SERVICE TECH'S THAT I NEEDED MY TRANS. FLUID DRAINED AND FILLED AT APPROX. 45K MILES EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST HAD IT DONE AT 38K ( UNBEKNOWNST TO THEM) AFTER BOTH FLUID CHANGES, THE PROBLEM JUST WORSENED. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY ARE NOW SAYING I NEED NEW MOTOR MOUNTS. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM IN THE EXACT SAME CAR. I TOO HAVE A 2004 MAXIMA. I MAINTAIN THE CAR AT THE DEALER,. WHILE DRIVING, THE GEARS WILL SLIPS OUT AND AT TIMES STICKS AT THE 5TH GEAR THE ONLY WAY IT COMES OUT OF THE 5TH GEAR IS BY TURNING OFF THE CAR, SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WHILE THE ENGINE COOLS AND STARTING AGAIN. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT IS HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT DOESN'T PROPERLY ENGAGE WHEN UPSHIFTING, USUALLY ALLOWING THE RPM'S TO REV UP AND THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR JERKING THE CAR FORWARD. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY EVENTS THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS FAILURE. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS WARMED UP. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT BY A NISSAN DEALER AND A PRIVATE TRANSMISSION COMPANY. BOTH SAY IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE PRIVATE DEALER ATTRIBUTES THE PROBLEM TO A LACK OF COOLING LINES GOING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND BELIEVED THIS WOULD BE A COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT I AM NOT A UNIQUE CASE. PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.
