TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED THE DRIVER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE STATED THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL, WHICH CAUSED HER TO HAVE A HEADACHE. THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. GOODYEAR TIRE RECALL CONCERN AND COMPLAINT. CUSTOMER STATES THAT HE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE TIRES ON HIS VEHICLE THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE WITH HIS OWN MONEY. *KB THE CONSUMER NOTICED CRACKS ON TWO OF HIS TIRES. THE CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL, THEREFORE HE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE TIRES WITH THE SAME BRAND THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY ON HIS VEHICLE. *JB UPDATED 09/18/07 *TR
AFTER REPLACING THREE OUT OF FOUR TIRES ON 5/29/07 FOR CRACKING AROUND THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE OF THE SIDEWALLS I RECEIVED A LETTER DATED JUNE 15,2007 STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. OBVIOUSLY I HAD ALREADY PAID $593.80 OUT OF POCKET. BECAUSE DOBBS WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY GOOD YEAR UNTIL JUNE (ACCORDING TO GOOD YEARS ASSISTANCE CENTER) THEY DID NOT PUT THE REASON FOR REPLACEMENT ON MY RECEIPT. I PROMPTLY RETURNED TO THE DOBBS LOCATION AND SPOKE WITH THEM AND THEY FILLED OUT THE CLAIM FORM PROVIDED BY GOOD YEAR TO VERIFY MY THREE TIRES WERE REPLACED FOR THAT REASON. I THEN SENT MY PAID RECEIPT ALONG WITH CLAIM FOR TO GOOD YEAR. NOW, ALMOST THREE MONTHS LATER GOOD YEAR IS REFUSING TO REFUND ME THEIR CONSUMER FOR A PROBLEM THEY KNOW EXISTS. THEIR REASONING, THE DOBBS EMPLOYEE DID NOT WRITE ON THE CLAIM FORM (A CLAIM FOR DESIGNED BY GOOD YEAR) WHY THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. COMMON SENSE WOULD TELL A CONSUMER AND THE EMPLOYEE AT DOBBS IF THEY ARE FILLLING OUT A CLAIM FORM, FOR A PROBLEM GOOD YEAR ADMITS THEY ARE HAVING WITH THEIR TIRES ,THAT IS WHY THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. I AM A VERY FRUSTRATED CONSUMER THAT HAD MY TIRES REPLACED DUE TO A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOW AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM GOOD YEAR WHO IS FULLY AWARE THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. I GUESS IN THEIR MINDS I SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE TIRES CRACKED FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO WEEKS UNTIL I GOT THEIR LETTER AND DOBBS WOULD HAVE NEVER CHARGED ME THE CONSUMER. NEVERMIND THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER AND THEIR PASSENGERS. THE NHTSA IS OBVIOUSLY DESIGNED AS A ORGANIZATION TO KEEP PEOPLE SAFE IN THE EVENT OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE SUCH AS THIS TIRE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS APPARENT TO ME THE GOOD YEAR WILL GO TO EXTREME MEASURES IN ORDER TO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POOR PRODUCT THEY MADE AVAILABLE TO THE CONSUMER. AS THEY CLEARLY, STATE IN THEIR LETTER IT IS JUST A "COSMETIC" ISSUE, THEY ARE TAKING NO RESPONSIBILTY AND ONCE AGAIN THE CONSUMER IS PAYING THE PRICE.
MANUAL CLUTCH FAILURE. DRIVING IN HEAVY, SLOW, TRAFFIC OR FOR LONG DISTANCE AND MANY HOURS OF TRAVEL WOULD CAUSE THE CLUTCH PEDDLE TO SINK TO THE FLOOR MAKING SHIFTING NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. PROBLEM OCCURRED WITHIN FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. STOPPING, TOURING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING USUALLY FIXED PROBLEM. YESTERDAY CLUTCH SUNK TO FLOOR AND STAYED THERE. DEALER EXAMINED CAR A YEAR OR MORE AGO, WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. NOW CAR IS UNDRIVABLE SAFELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST INTO SECOND GEARS. THE JERKING ALSO OCCURRED DURING ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH 45,000 MILES FROM THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AT AROUND 30,000 MILES DUE TO "CUPPING" ON THE TIRES. THEY WORE TERRIBLY AND WERE MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT AND BEARINGS REPLACED AT 31,000 MILES AND NOW AT 47,000 MILES MY LEFT FRONT STRUT AND BEARINGS NEEDS REPLACING, WHICH WILL COST ME NEARLY $400.00. THE CAR HAS A BAD VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT 50-60 MILES PER HOUR AND WHEN BRAKING. NOW, MY NEW SET OF TIRES HAVE WORN BADLY AND ARE SO NOISY THAT YOU CANNOT HOLD A NORMAL CONVERSATION AT FREEWAY SPEED. I LOVE THE LOOK OF THE CAR, BUT I CANNOT WAIT TO GET RID OF IT! IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT SAFE IF THE SUSPENSION BOUNCES YOU ALL OVER THE ROAD! ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE HEAT SHIELD REPLACED ONCE AND NOW IT NEEDS IT AGAIN. THE POWER OUTLETS ARE IN THE WORST POSSIBLE PLACES I HAVE EVER SEEN. NISSAN....PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THIS FLAW! *TR
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. ANTI-LOCK BRAKE (ABS) COMPONENTS FAILING, THERE IS ALSO A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE NISSAN WEBSITE DESCRIBING WAYS TO FIX OR REPLACE PARTS, BUT VERY EXPENSIVE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE. THE ABS DID KICK ON UNDER NORMAL BRAKING AND NOW THE ABS MOTOR IS STUCK RUNNING, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ARE ON AND THE ABS SYSTEM WILL NO LONGER ACTIVATE IN A DYNAMIC SLIDING CONDITION. THE ABS MOTOR CONTINUES RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS REMOVED. THE FUSE AND MOTOR GET EXTREMELY HOT AND MAY POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED OVERNIGHT. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT POSTING ON THE WEB ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND AT LEAST 3 DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS THAT I HAVE CALLED ARE AWARE OF THIS BEING A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. *TR
COUPLE YEARS AGO CAR STARTED TO MAKE SOME GRINDING NOISE FROM ENGINE ROOM. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO CHECK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SOME BRACKET WAS BROKEN AND THEY REPLACED IT. COUPLE DAYS LATER, SAME NOISE CAME OUT FROM THE ENGINE ROOM. IT SOUNDS EVERYDAY SINCE THEN AND GETTING LOUDER. I TOOK EVERYWHERE (DEALER, LOCAL BODY SHOP, ETC), BUT EVERYONE TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PROBLEM. I SEARCHED ONLINE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEM AS ME. THEY WERE ALL SAYING IT WAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT THE 04 NISSAN MAXIMA IN DECEMBER 2004, AND IN SEPTEMBER . 2005 I TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED. I WAS INFORMED BY THE LOCAL GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER THAT TWO OF THE TIRES HAD CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS. BECAUSE THE CAR HAD ONLY 10,000 MILES GOODYEAR REPLACED THESE TWO TIRES UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. NOW, IN 2007 WITH 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR THE OTHER TWO ORIGINAL TIRES HAVE SIDEWALL CRACKS. OF COURSE GOODYEAR WILL ONLY GIVE ME CREDIT FOR THE WEAR LEFT ON THE TIRES , AND A NEW TIRE COST $300. WE HAVE DECIDED FOR SAFETY REASONS WE WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THESE TIRES WITH THE GOODYEAR EAGLE SIZE 245/45R18V. THIS SEEMED TO BE A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS FORD AND FIRESTONE HAD WITH THE EXPLORER SEVERAL YEARS AGO. WHY HAS THE PUBLIC NOT BEEN INFORMED ABOUT THE NISSAN/GOODYEAR TIRE PROBLEM. MY CONCLUSION WAS FEWER OF US OWN NISSAN VEHICLES THAN FORDS. SO, IF THE TIRES CAUSE A COUPLE OF US TO HAVE WRECKS THAT WAS JUST THE PRICE OF DOING BIG BUSINESS. *AK
SIDEWALL CRACKS ON ALL 4 TIRES (GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA 245-45-18) ON MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA WERE APPARENT AT ABOUT 20-25,000 MILES. I WAS VERBALLY NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS DEFECT BY THE NISSAN DEALER, WHO RECOMMENDED A COMPLETE NEW SET OF TIRES. I WANTED A SECOND OPINION ABOUT THE CRACKS, AS THERE WAS STILL GOOD TREAD LEFT ON THE ORIGINAL TIRES. I TOOK THE CAR TO DISCOUNT TIRE CO. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE CRACKED AND THEREFORE UNSAFE. I HAD ALL 4 OF THEM REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY, DISCOUNT TIRE COMPANY DIDN'T WRITE THE REASON FOR REPLACEMENT ON MY RECEIPT (CRACKED SIDEWALLS), AND BECAUSE OF THAT OMISSION, GOODYEAR HAS DENIED ME ANY REDRESS AT ALL. TO DATE, THEY STILL HAVEN'T EVEN SENT THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT BACK TO ME.
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. AFTER HAVING BRAKE WORK DONE SEVERAL TIMES, THE REAL PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STRUTS. BOTH FRONT STRUTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS 72,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, THERE IS A SQUEAKING SOUND, AND CAR SOMETIMES SEEMS TO PULL TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. NISSAN HAS SAID THAT THEY WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY. AS A CONSUMER, I RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT YOU LOOK INTO THIS MATTER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE BOLTS ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED. THERE WAS NOTHING HOLDING THE SEAT DOWN AND IT ROLLED ALL THE WAY TO THE BACKSEAT. THE CONTACT COULD NOT REACH THE BRAKE PEDAL, THEREFORE, SHE HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND HER HUSBAND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAD NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF FAILURE BEFORE AND STATED THAT THE BOLTS HAD FALLEN OUT OF THE SEAT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BOLTS AND REPAIRED THE SEAT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000. UPDATED 09/18/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A, SIZE P245/45R18 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,204.

2004 NISSAN MAXIMA HAD TIRE FAILURE DUE TO CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALL. CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE TIRES HAD CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALL WHICH CAUSED ONE OF THEM TO BLOW OUT. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE REPLACED. **NAR**KB THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. *JB

THE POLICE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A PART OF RECALL 05V512000 FOR THE SEAT/POWER ADJUST. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 46,000. *AK

PROBLEM WITH STEERING WHEEL SHAKING BADLY WHILE BRAKING. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW TIRES AT FIRST SOON AFTER OWNERSHIP. I BOUGHT THIS MAXIMA NEW IN 2003 WITH ABOUT 10 MILES ON IT. COUPLE YEARS LATER HAD TO TAKE BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR BAD TIRES/CRACKING ON THE SIDEWALLS. HAD TWO NEW TIRES PUT ON AND HAD THE ROTORS MACHINED. PROBLEM RECURRED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAVING ROTORS MACHINED WITH SOME IMPROVEMENT, BUT NOW THE PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN EVER. BOUGHT TWO MORE TIRES AND WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS WHEN I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE BRAKEPADS, WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE ONCE. FOG LIGHT ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED WHILE GETTING AN INSPECTION. HAD TO REPLACE A BATTERY WHICH MADE MY GAS GAUGE FAIL/CURRENTLY DOES NOT WORK. PUT GAS IN EVERY 300 MILES SO I DON'T GET STRANDED ON THE ROAD. CARE RUNS BADLY AND I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE/CONSIDERING GETTING RID OF IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD TAKE THIS VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD BEFORE IT SERIOUSLY HURTS SOMEBODY. *TR
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON ATLANTIC CITY EXPRESSWAY IN NEW JERSEY WHEN A RECALLED GOODYEAR TIRE BLEW OUT. KEPT CONTROL OF THE CAR. WENT TO GET A NEW TIRE A FOUND THAT ALL FOUR TIRES THAT WERE RECALLED WERE READY TO BLOW OUT. BOUGHT FOUR NEW TIRES. THE RECALL DEADLINE FOR THESE TIRES WAS DECEMBER 2007-WHICH WE MISSED. HOW DO YOU PUT A DEADLINE ON A RECALL. IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD AND WE WOULD BE PURSUING A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. *TR
I HAVE AN 04 NISSAN MAXIMA. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 04. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT 60000 AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS, NUMEROUS TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, A 200 DOLLAR TRANSMISSION FLUSH, AND THE REPLACEMENT OF A TRANSMISSION MOUNT, THEY FINALLY REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY FRONT STRUTS 3 TIMES, MY TIMING CHAIN $3500, AND NOW I NEED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION AT 126,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN ON NUMEROUS BLOG SITES WITH PEOPLE WHO SHARED SIMILAR STORIES. *TR
GOOD YEAR EAGLE RSA TIRE BLEW ON I-95 IN SOUTH FLORIDA. SIDEWALL BLEW OUT OF TIRE. TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON THEM. NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPLACED BLOWN TIRE, BUT NOTICED ALL OF TIRES LEFT (3) HAD SIDEWALL SPLITS THAT THEY DEEMED UNSAFE. THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE OTHER TIRES, THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE 1/2 OF A 32ND LESS TREAD THAN THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE. THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. THESE ARE THE TIRES THAT NISSAN PUTS ON ALL OF THEIR MAXIMA MODELS. GOOD YEAR SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE TIRES. *TR
THIS IS IS REGARDS TO THE NISSAN MAXIMA 2004 AND 2005 MODELS. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THESE MODELS. THE CAR WILL STALL AT RED LIGHTS OR WHEN TRYINGING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC ON EXPRESSWAYS, INTER STATE HIGHWAYS OR SIMILAR ROADWAYS. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM OR CORRECT IT. WE WERE UNAWARE WHENL WE INITIALLY BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH OUR VEHICLE. SINCE WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE, WE HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TWO TIMES WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR CAR. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT IN WAS ABOUT THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. THE SECOND TIME WAS ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. THE PROMBLEM HAS BECOME SEVERE, AND NOW THEY SAY IT IS TOO LONG. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET -- WE DID LOOKING FOR HELP, YOU WILL FIND LOTS OF CHATTER (COMPLAINTS) ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION IN THESE MODELS. WE HAVE A 2004 MAXIMA. NISSAN SHOULKD RECALL THESE VEHICLE AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. INSTEAD, THEY CONTINUE TO SALE THE UNSAFE VEHICLES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR NHTSA RECALL # 04V326000 (VISIBILITY:SUN ROOF ASSEMBLY) AT 15,915 MILES. THE SUNROOF WAS RUSTED OUT IN ALL FOUR CORNERS AND WAS NOT DESIGNED TO OPEN. WATER LEAKS INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT RAINS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 33,582 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WATER LEAKAGE AND CORROSION ARE SAFETY HAZARDS. THE CONSUMER STATED SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS DUE TO THE FACT THIS SUN ROOF IS A DEFECT AND THE CONSUMER FEELS IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER TO PAY FOR IT. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A'S THAT CAME ON MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE BEEN LEAKING AIR DUE TO THE SIDEWALL CRACKS THAT HAVE DEVELOPED ON EACH TIRE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED THESE SIDEWALL CRACKS AND THAT MULTIPLE INDIVIDUALS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM LEADS ME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. DUE TO THE CONCERN OF MY FAMILY'S SAFETY, I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND OF TIRES. *JB

ALL OF THE TIRES ARE GOODYEAR EAGLE, SIZE 245/45R18V. TOWN FAIR INSPECTED THE TIRES AND CONFIRMED WITH GOODYEAR THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE A SAFETY HAZARD AT 23,000 MILES. GOODYEAR STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY 75% OF THE TIRE REPLACEMENT; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT FEELS THAT GOODYEAR SHOULD PAY THE FULL AMOUNT. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GOODYEAR AND WAS GIVEN CASE # 888402. THE CONTACT WILL ALSO BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN HER LOCAL AREA. PRIOR TO MY MAXIMA'S TRANSMISSION GETTING STUCK IN 5TH GEAR, THE CAR HAS HAD ROUGH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING AND 2ND TO 1ST DECELERATING. BUT THIS USUALLY OCCURRED ONLY AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AROUND FOR ABOUT 7-10 MINUTES OR THE CAR BEING WARMED UP ALREADY. THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES OR CHECK ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION LIGHT, UNTIL THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST STRUCK ME FROM BEHIND WHEN MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD FROM 1ST GEAR TO 5TH GEAR. THE CAR COULD NOT GAIN SPEED FAST ENOUGH COMING FROM THE STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR BEHIND DID NOT EXPECT MY CAR TO ALMOST STOP ABRUPTLY AS IT SHIFTED FROM 1ST TO 5TH GEAR ON IT'S OWN. SINCE THE CAR WAS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR JUST UNDER 1000 MORE MILES, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THEY ONLY REPLACED THE CAM SENSOR CIRCUIT. THE CAR DID SHIFT THRU ALL IT'S GEARS FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THEN STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF ROUGH SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND BACK TO 1ST. BY THEN THE CAR ALREADY WENT PAST THE WARRANTY MILEAGE LIMIT TO HAVE NISSAN COVER THE REPAIR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO ERROR CODES AND THEY DID NOT LET THE CAR WARM UP TO REPRODUCE THE ROUGH SHIFTING, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. EVENTUALLY, 2YRS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE CAM SENSOR CIRCUIT AND GOT THE CAR MOVING BUT STILL HAD THE ROUGH SHIFTING, I HAD SAVED ENOUGH MONEY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT AGAIN. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE THAT SPECIALIZED IN NISSANS. AGAIN, SINCE THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES, THEY JUST REPLACED THE MOTOR MOUNTS, CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RADIATOR MOUNTS. IT'S BEEN ABOUT 2YRS AND NOT THE TRANSMISSION IS GETTING WORSE ON THE ROUGH SHIFTING....STILL NO ERROR CODES. *TR

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH A DRUNK DRIVER WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER TRUCK WAS COMING IN MY DIRECTION IN THE MEDIAN AT NIGHT WITH LIGHTS ON. THE NOISE CONTINUED AND I CONTINUED TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN MARLOW HEIGHTS AND THE MECHANIC TOLD THAT THE NOISE CAME FROM AFTER-MARKET PADS. EVEN I KNEW THAT WAS NOT IT. SO I WAS TOLD JUST WAIT AND SEE IF IT GETS WORSE. WELL IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THEN IF CAME ACROSS A MASTER TECHNICIAN WHO TOLD ME EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS (THE ABS SYSTEM) ALTHOUGH STILL ABS LIGHT WAS NOT ON. NOW THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP AND OF COURSE THE CAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE COST (RIGHT REAR ABS SENSOR AND CAP) AND LET'S HOPE THAT I DON'T NEED AN ACTUATOR WHICH COST $1,500. I HAVE TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND HAD THE VALVE BODY REPLACED FOR $950 AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GET BETTER FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS THEN IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHED ABOUT 3 TIMES. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY MAXIMA OWNERS THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT SOLVE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ECM COMPUTER SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE BUZZING SOUND CONTINUED AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THEIR TECHNICIAN INSPECT THE VEHICLE.
