FAN / ALTERNATOR BELT SHREDDED ON 04' MURANO WITH LESS THAN 26,000 MILES. CAUGHT AND TAKEN TO DEALER BEFORE COMPLETE FAILURE. SAME THING HAPPENED ON 02 MAXIMA WITH APPROX. SAME MILEAGE. MAXIMA BELT FAILED COMPLETELY, NEEDED JUMPER BOX TO CHARGE ALTERNATOR ENOUGH TO GET HOME. DEALER HAS NO EXPLANATION FOR BELT FAILURES, BUT BOTH VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME ENGINE, AND SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO WITH ELECTRIC DRIVER SEAT. THE LEFT REAR BRACKET HOLDING THE SEAT TO THE RAIL HAS BROKEN, THUS RESULTING IN THE SEAT BECOMING DETACHED AND SEVERELY LEANING TO THE LEFT REAR. I ASSUMED THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT UNTIL I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND HAVE DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM COULD PROVE TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR HARD BRAKE. TO SAY THE LEAST, IT COULD PROVE TO CAUSE BACK INJURY OR PAIN. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO SE SEAT TILTED TO THE LEFT AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED. I HAVE NO REPLACED THE PART YET BECAUSE THE COST PER THE DEALER IS IN EXCESS OF $1,000.00. *TR
ALTERNATOR ADJUSTING BRACKET - I HAD TO HAVE MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO SERVICED DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK THAT I NOTICED. WHEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE, ENTIRE UNDERBODY WAS FILLED WITH COOLANT AND NO COOLANT REMAINED IN THE RESERVOIR. THE DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND DOCUMENTED THE ISSUE AS THE ALTERNATOR ADJUSTING BRACKET HAVING BROKEN AND RUPTURING THE HOSE, FAN PULLEY AND THE POWER STEERING BELT BEING NEGATIVELY IMPACTED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE TECH., THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE. WITH AN OBVIOUS REPEATING ISSUE IN THE VEHICLES, THE SEVERITY OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE (BRACKET BREAKS, ALTERNATOR LOOSENS IN HOOD AND DAMAGES SURROUNDING MECHANISMS, OR OCCUPANTS (OPERATION OF VEHICLE NOT IDEAL WITH BRACKET BROKEN, IMPACTING SURROUNDING MECHANISMS (POWER STEERING BELT, FAN, ALTERNATOR, COOLANT SYSTEM) THAT COULD RESULT, AND THE CUSTOMER DISSATISFACTION OF HAVING THIS ISSUE AND INCURRING THE COSTS TO REPAIR. *NM
AFTER 64 DAYS AT DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE FAULTY AIR BAGS I RETRIEVED MY CAR TODAY. I DROVE APPROX 1/8 MILE TO THE GAS STATION ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET FROM NISSAN, PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, GAS ATTENDANT FILLED GAS TANK....THEN I TURNED THE KEY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. CHECK SVC ENGINE, AIRBAG, SEAT BELT LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED, BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I CALLED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. ANNOYED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR 60 SOME ODD DAYS, AND THE VERY DAY I GET IT BACK THIS HAPPENED. THE FINALE WAS WHEN THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD SEND A TOW TRUCK, AND HUNG UP ON ME, AFTER I ASKED HOW WAS I SUPPOSE TO TRAVEL FROM POINT A TO POINT B. I CALLED BACK, ANOTHER MANAGER CAME OVER IN A CAR WITH A MECHANICAL GAVE ME A JUMP START WHICH ALLOWED ME TO FOLLOW THEM BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID MY BATTERY WAS NO GOOD AND THEY REPLACED IT. A NO GOOD BATTERY AFTER 2 YEARS AND 31,548 MILES, UMM, SEEMS STRANGE. *NM
ALTERNATOR ADJUSTING BRACKET - JAN 29, 2007 TODAY, I HAD TO HAVE MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO SERVICED DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK THAT I NOTICED. WHEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE, ENTIRE UNDERBODY WAS FILLED WITH COOLANT AND NO COOLANT REMAINED IN THE RESEVOIR. DEAR SIR, WE OWN A 2004 NISSAN MURANO THAT WE BOUGHT NEW IN MAY OF 2004. THE VEHICLE HAS PERFORMED GREAT OVER THE YEARS; HOWEVER, WE DO HAVE ONE VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN MURANO WHICH IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR. AS YOU ARE DRIVING, THE SUNVISOR WILL DROP DOWN BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH ANOTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNER WHO STATED THAT SHE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, I RAN AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR "PROBLEMS WITH A NISSAN MURANO SUNVISOR" AND DISCOVERED NUMEROUS BLOGS SUBMITTED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR NISSAN MURANOS. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS VERY SERIOUSLY INJURED OR PERHAPS KILLED BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO SEE THE ROADWAY. *TR
DRIVER-SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE AND FALLS, BLOCKING DRIVER'S VIEW. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO NOT USE IT AND KEEP IT IN THE "UP" POSITION; HOWEVER, WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO USE THIS TO BLOCK THE SUN, THE MORNING AND LATE AFTERNOON WILL BLIND YOU. SUNGLASSES DO NOT HELP THAT MUCH. I EMAILED NISSAN ABOUT THIS APP. ONE YEAR AGO BUT NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT, EITHER. THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FROM OTHERS THAT I HAVE FOUND ONLINE. REPLACEMENT COST IS EXPENSIVE, ABOUT $240 AND ENTIRE VISOR MUST BE REPLACED, NOT JUST A PART OF IT. *TR
OWN A 2004 NISSAN MURANO AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR SUN VISORS TO FAIL AND HANG STRAIGHT DOWN WHILE DRIVING OBSTRUCTING YOUR VIEW OF THE ROAD. NISSAN PROBABLY DOES NOT SHOW ALOT OF REPLACEMENT VISOR BEING SOLD SINCE THEY CHARGE OVER $300.00 FOR EACH VISOR. JUST CAME FROM DEALER AND HE SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND TO JUST USE VELCRO????? *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON MY CAR KEEPS (FLOPPING) DOWN AND FALLING INTO MY VIEW, RESTRICTING MY SIGHT WHILE I AM DRIVING. I T WILL NOT STAY IN THE "UP POSITION". A FEW TIMES I HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS, BUT NO ACTUAL INCIDENT. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER AND IT WOULD COST APPROX. $250 TO FIX...IF I HAD THE $ TO FIX IT I WOULD, BUT I DON'T. ALSO, I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD FIX IT...THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OVER. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT STATES THAT ON 12/20/06 AROUND 10:00 AM THE CONTACT DROVE HER 2004 NISSAN MURANO OUT OF HER DRIVEWAY AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE DOWN AN ALLEY AT ABOUT 2 MPH. AFTER MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO THE MAIN ROAD OF A RESIDENTIAL AREA, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 50 MPH WITHOUT THE CONTACT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. THE CONTACT TRIED CONTINUOUSLY APPLYING THE BRAKES, BUT VEHICLE NEVER CAME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT STATES THAT THE BRAKES WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. SHE HAD A HARD TIME STEERING THE VEHICLE WHILE TRYING TO GET VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT THEN HIT A PARKED FLAT BED TRAILER, AND THE FRONT TIRES OF HER VEHICLE DROVE UP ON THE FLAT BED AND THE VEHICLE THE ROLLED OVER ON ITS SIDE LANDING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT WAS DAZED AND WITNESSES CLIMBED UP ONTO THE VEHICLE TO GET HER OUT. THE CONTACT STATES THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE, AND ONCE OUT OF VEHICLE SHE AND WITNESSES NOTICE THAT THE WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TURNING AT A HIGH RATE WHILE ON IT SIDE. THE CONTACT STATES THAT ONE OF THE WITNESSES CLIMBED ONTO THE VEHICLE AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF BUT COULDN'T GET KEY OUT OF IGNITION. THE POLICE WAS CALLED AND A REPORT FILED AND PICTURES WERE TAKEN. THE CONTACT HAS CALLED THE NISSAN CORPORATION AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND WAS GIVEN #557-22135 AS A REFERENCE NUMBER.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH ON DRY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN, AFTER TRAVELING 10 YARDS. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, AND DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE STALLING RECURRED A YEAR LATER ON 07/17/06 WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE METER. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. ON 10/24/06, THE PROBLEM RECURRED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, AND WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO COULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE DUE TO LACK OF PARTS NEEDED FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO DETERMINED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE, AND WAS REPLACED. THIS REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT WROTE A COMPLAINT LETTER TO THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER ON 10/29/06, BUT HAD YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE. *AK UPDATED 12/28/2006 - *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MORANO. WHILE DRIVING SHE NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATING AND THOUGHT THEY NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED ALL DAY WITH THE WINDOW ACCIDENTALLY CRACKED. IT RAINED THAT DAY THEREFORE THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE GOT WET. WHILE DRIVING HOME AT 40 MPH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT WATER COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE SENSORS AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. *AK UPDATED 2/22/2007 - THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT BUT THEY DENIED THE REQUEST. *NM
ON OCT. 23, 2006 I PUT MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO INTO DRIVE GEAR WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR TOOK OFF AT A HIGH SPEED WITHOUT ME CHANGING MY FOOT TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE CAR DID NOT STOP ACCELERATING. AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP OR CONTROL THE VEHICLE I WENT THROUGH A NEIGHBORS GARAGE AND HIT THE BACK CINDERBLOCK FOUNDATION WALL WHICH STOPPED THE CAR. *JB
2004 NISSAN MURANO WITH 44,500 MILES. TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES WHILE CAR US RUNNING. ENGINE STAYS ON BUT CAR DECELERATES. HAPPENED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY, WHILE CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS IN A NEIGHBORHOOD. ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE GEARS BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE AND IT FINALLY RE-ENGAGED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. *JB
HAVING ISSUES WITH ENGINE MOUNTS. HAD ONE REPLACED LAST NOVEMBER AND GETTING TWO MORE NEXT WEEK. PURCHASED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO EVERYTHING IS COVERED BUT CONCERNED ABOUT WHEN WARRANTY EXPIRES. WANT TO KNOW IF OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *JB
VEHICLE HAD RECALL ISSUED ON JULY 14TH, 2005. THE RECALL WAS CHANGING THE ALTERNATOR. OUR VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE RECALL WAS TO MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT FAIL WHILE DRIVING (SHUT DOWN). OUR VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON 9/28/06, AFTER IT HAD RECALL PERFORMED. IT HAD THE EXACT CONSEQUENCE AS IF THE RECALL HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED. *NM
TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO HAS HAD A COMPLETE COMPUTER FAILURE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF BOTH STEERING AND BRAKES. THE COMPUTER FAILURE ONLY OCCURS WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN APPEARS TO "RESET" THE COMPUTER. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR IN THEIR PRESENCE, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT THEREFORE THERE WAS NO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY PARTS. BECAUSE THERE IS NO SPECIFIC "EVENT" WHICH LEADS TO THIS PROBLEM, I AM LEFT TO DRIVE A CAR WITH A SERIOUS MALFUNCTION WHICH MAY IN TURN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN BODILY INJURY TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. *NM
BROUGHT MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO IN FOR ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT DUE TO FACTORY RECALL ON ALL 2003-2004 MURANOS. 3 DAYS LATER I BEGAN TO HEAR SOME VERY LOUD BANGING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE MURANO WAS TOWED TO NISSAN THAT WEEKEND AND ON MONDAY I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION. APPARENTLY THERE WAS REGULAR TRANSMISSION FLUID ADDED TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THE MASTRIA NISSAN SERVICE CENTER WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. *JB
FAILURE OF REAR ENGINE MOUNT ON MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO WITH 40,000 MILES. WITHOUT REPLACING SAID MOUNT SAFETY WOULD COME INTO QUESTION. PARTS ARE ON ORDER IS THIS A COMMON FAILURE. SHOULD NISSAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND MAKE GOOD? *NM
WE PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED 2004 NISSAN MURANO IN MARCH 2006. WITHIN 6 MOS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR STARTED FALLING BY ITSELF, IMPAIRING THE VISION OF THE DRIVER UNEXPECTEDLY. THE PROBLEM WORSENED UNTIL IT JUST NOW HANGS PERMANENTLY STRAIGHT DOWN. IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY, WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH IT PERMANENTLY TO THE SIDE POSITION WHICH THEN BLOCKS OUR SIDE VISION. THERE IS NO WAY TO DRIVE THE MURANO WITHOUT VISION IMPAIRMENT OF SOME SORT. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO WILL NOT ACCELERATE INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. IT THEN LEAPS/RACES FORWARD. I WILL BE AT STOP SIGNS/LIGHTS AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF TRAFFIC. *TR
EVENTS LEADING TO FAILURE: REPLACEMENT OF ALTERNATOR DUE TO PRODUCT RECALL FAILURE: COOLANT HOSE LOCATION: WHERE COOLANT HOSE TOUCHES OUTSIDE EDGE OF IDLER PULLEY ADJUSTMENT NUT. WHAT WAS DONE: VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. ASSUMPTION OF FAILURE: VEHICLE WAS RECALLED TO REPLACE ALTERNATOR. WHEN SERPENTINE BELT WAS TIGHTENED, COOLANT HOSE WEAKENING OCCURRED. VISUAL OBSERVATION: COOLANT HOSE IS PRESSED AGAINST ADJUSTMENT NUT DEPRESSING IT 1/16-3/32 OF AN INCH. THIS COMBINED WITH VEHICLE ENGINE NATURAL VIBRATIONS A HOLE IN THE COOLANT HOSE OCCURRED. RESULT OF COOLANT LOSS: ULTIMATELY, ENGINE FAILURE COULD OCCUR RESULTING IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO LOSS OF COOLANT FROM FAILED HOSE. POSSIBLE SOLUTION: NISSAN WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE IDLER PULLEY ADJUSTMENT BRACKET AND INSURE PROPER ADJUSTMENT SPACE BETWEEN THE IDLER PULLEY ADJUSTMENT NUT AND COOLANT HOSE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED, WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH., THE BRAKE AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED JUST BEFORE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE AN INSPECTION FOUND A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR WAS THE CAUSE.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, MAXIMUM SPEED = 20 MPH. STOPPED SHIFTED TO LOW SAME RESULT. PARKED TURNED ENGINE OFF, RETURNED 20 MINUTES LATER. VEHICLE OK, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. NEXT DAY NISSAN SERVICE COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, SAID IT WAS A "SOFT" CODE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. A NHTSA RECALL, #05V319000 WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 28, 2005 CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ALTERNATOR/ GENERATOR/ REGULATOR HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER A SECOND REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE UNDER THE RECALL.
ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH BOTH NISSAN AND THE NHTSA CONCERNING A PUNCTURED FUEL TANK. NISSAN INFORMED ME THAT IN THE EVENT NHTSA REQUIRED A RECALL WITH RESPECT TO THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM, NISSAN WOULD CONTACT ME TO REFUND THE COST OF MY REPAIR. ON JUNE 29, 2006, I LEARNED THAT NHTSA HAD CLOSED THE MATTER ON JANUARY 31, 2006, WITH A REQUIREMENT THAT NISSAN CORRECT THE DEFICIENCY THROUGH A RECALL CAMPAIGN. I CONFIRMED WITH A NHTSA REPRESENTATIVE THAT SUCH A CAMPAIGN HAD BEEN INITIATED BY NISSAN. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN. NOR DID I RECEIVE A COMMUNICATION FROM NISSAN THAT THEY WOULD LIVE UP TO THEIR PROMISE OF REIMBURSEMENT. I RESPONDED NO, NOTHING HAD CHANGED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AT LUTHER NISSAN IN INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE (GRACE) IN HYDERABAD, INDIA, WHO DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF TAKING MY INFORMATION, INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE NOT ONE, BUT TWO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND ONE CONCERNS THE SEAT BELTS. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS RECALL EITHER. HERE WE HAVE NOT ONE BUT TWO SAFETY-RELATED NHTSA RECALLS THAT THIS NISSAN CUSTOMER (THIS IS MY FOURTH NISSAN AUTOMOBILE) HAS FAILED TO RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICES ON. INTERESTINGLY, NISSAN HAS NO PROBLEM WITH SENDING MY MONTHLY BILL FOR NISSAN FINANCING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 25 MONTHS TO GET MY BILLS TO ME. EVERY TIME I GET OUT OF MY CAR, PLACE MY FEET ON THE GROUND, AND THEN TOUCH METAL THAT BEING THE CAR FRAME OR CAR DOOR, I GET SHOCKED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 TO 45 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD DOWN A STEEP DECLINE, BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOST CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL SEVERAL TIMES. 2004 NISSAN MURANO SL 2WD MODEL JUST CAME TO A STOP WHILE DRIVING,RESTARTED THE ENGINE THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND ENGINE STALLS OUT,TRIED THIS OVER & OVER AGAIN BUT IT CONTINUES TO STALL. I IMMEDIATELY HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THREE DAYS LATER THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED (ONLY 25003 MILES). SUN VISOR DROOPS ON ITS OWN FROM DESIRED POSITION ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO LINE OF SIGHT CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR DRIVING
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IT WAS MUSCLED HOME FROM THE SCENE OF THE INCIDENT AND TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE VEHICLE'S LOST OF POWER WAS DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE CHAMBER ASSEMBLY. TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE THE THOTTLE CHAMBER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. RIGHT BEFORE THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED.

GAS MILEAGE AS STATED ON VEHICLE WINDOW STICKER GROSSLY EXAGGERATED WHEN COMPARED TO ACTUAL MILEAGE. CAR ALSO HAD 243 MILES ON ODOMETER AT DELIVERY. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAR WAS A SWAPPED VEHICLE THAT CAME FROM A DEALER IN MASSACHUSETTS. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE AMOUNT OF MILEAGE ON THE CAR UNTIL I LOOKED AT THE ODOMETER UPON PICK UP. THERE ARE OVER 240 MILES ON THIS CAR THAT ARE MOST CRUCIAL IN THE BREAK IN OF AN ENGINE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS CAR WAS DRIVEN DURING THOSE MILES AND SUSPECT THAT IT MAY HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVEN WITH THE CARE THAT I WOULD HAVE. I HAVE PLACED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING FUEL MILEAGE WITH BOTH NISSAN USA AND BIENER NISSAN. TO DATE I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR TIRES OF THIS VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES. BOTH REAR TIRES WERE PROGRESSIVELY BALDING FROM THE CENTER LINE OF THE TIRE TO THE INSIDE SHOULDER OF EACH TIRE, TO THE POINT WHERE THE RADIAL BELT WAS EXPOSED AT POINTS OF THE SHOULDER. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE DOT NUMBERS DID NOT MATCH WITH THE FRONT TIRES AND THAT SOMEONE HAD SWITCHED THEM IN. THIS ALSO SHOWS THAT THE DEALER DIDN'T DO A COMPLETE SAFETY INSPECTION ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE DELIVERY. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE WORK WAS PERFORMED. APPROXIMATELY 24 DAYS LATER HE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER CONCERNING THE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE DID NOT RECEIVE THE LETTER IN A TIMELY MANNER, AND THEY ONLY SENT IT BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AT 3000 MILES THE ENGINE BLEW AND NISSAN REPAIRED IT AND SPENT $14,000 TO REPAIR. WHICH REALLY BLEW MY MIND, SINCE I HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THOSE TWO THINGS FIXED. AFTER ALMOST 5 DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE, WE BUGGED THE DEALERSHIP ENOUGH, THAT THEY FINALLY GOT ME A LOANER CAR. ON THE MONDAY. ON WEDNESDAY, THEY CALLED AND SAID MY CAR WAS READY. I PICKED THE CAR UP, AND ON MY WAY HOME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT THE CAR WOULD STOP ON ME AGAIN, AND NOW I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF 5:00 TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS SPUTTERING. KIND OF JUMPING. IDLING REALLY HIGH, AND THEN WHEN I GO TO STOP, THE CAR'S RPMS JUMP UP ABOVE 1, AND THEN BACK DOWN BEFORE STOPPING. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD OR JERK FORWARD A BIT.
