PROBLEM WITH DOOR LOCKS ON 05 NISSAN MURANO OCCASIONALLY WORKING, OCCASIONALLY NOT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM IN NISSAN VEHICLES. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR ON MY '05 NISSAN MURANO WON'T STAY UP. IT FALLS DOWN WHILE DRIVING, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. IT SEEMS THAT MANY MURANO OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NISSAN WILL NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. REPLACEMENT AT THE DEALER WILL COST OVER $400. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AWD. THE POWER DRIVERS SEAT TRACK HAS BROKEN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE ON THE LEFT SIDE AND WHEN I TURNTO THE LEFT, THE SEAT RAISES UP AND GIVES YOU THE FEELING THAT YOU MIGHT TIP OUT OF THE SEAT. THE SEAT IS ALSO LOOSE WHEN ENTERING OR EXISTING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO BE FIXED, THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $800 TO FIX AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY. DUE TO THE EXTREME COST, I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED. *TR
SEAT FRAME ASSEMBLY ON DRIVERS SIDE BROKE CAUSING THE DRIVERS SEAT TO LEAN TO THE LEFT. VERY UNSTABLE AND IT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER WELDED THE PART, SAYING NOT SURE IT WILL HOLD. THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN APRIL 20 AND ONCE AGAIN THE DEALER WELDED THE PART SAYING THE METAL IS VERY THIN. A NEW PART INSTALLED IS APPROX. $700. THE PART IS A IMPROVED PART THAT IS STRONGER NOW. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO: FOUR OF SIX LOCK ACTUATORS ARE FAILING SIMULTANEOUSLY - THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR, BOTH REAR DOORS AND THE REAR CARGO HATCH. FAILURE WERE INTERMITTENT UNTIL 5/9/10 WHEN ALL FAILED COMPLETELY AT THE SAME TIME. YOU CAN PRESS THE LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH AND THE DOORS WILL AUDIBLY APPEAR TO LOCK. HOWEVER, THEY MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE PRESENTING A SECURITY HAZARD - CAR JACKING, STOLEN PROPERTY, ETC. NISSAN HAS TOLD MANY OF US OWNERS THE PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED BY REPLACING ALL THE ACTUATORS AT A COST OF $1,600+. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY STORIES OF THIS SAME FAILURE IN MURANOS AND OTHER NISSAN MODELS THAT IT IS SIMPLY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
ORIGINAL OWNER OF MURANO, PURCHASED NEW IN 2005. THE DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO LOCK AND UN-LOCK. THIS HAS OCCURED AT VAIROUS TIMES WHEN USING ANY MEANS AVAILABLE TO LOCK AND UN-LOCK THE DOORS: THE KEY FOB, INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE LOCKS BUTTON ON DOOR, AND MANUAL MANIPILATION OF THE INTERIOR DOOR LOCK(S). THE ISSUE IS EXPERIENCED WITH ALL 4 DOOR LOCKS AND OCCASSIONALLY THE REAR HATCH (NOT OPENED AS OFTEN, SO IT MAY OCCURE MORE FREQUENTLY, JUST NOT AWARE OF IT). THE CONDITION WORSENS IN THE WARM WEATHER (LIVE IN FL). HAVE AT TIMES BEEN UNABLE TO GET IN OR OUT OF MY VEHICLE UNTIL ALL OF THE ABOVE MEANS TRIED REPEATEDLY UNTIL ONE WORKS. HAVE FOUND THAT I CAN ONLY GET IN MY CAR DURING WARM WEATHER IF I USE THE FOB TO ROLL THE FRONT WINDOWS DOWN AND THEN REACH IN THE VEHICLE AND MANUALLY UNLOCK THE CAR DOOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WAS BROKEN AND UNSTABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE DEALER INSPECTED AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO INQUIRE HOW TO REPAIR THE SEATS AND IF THE REPAIRS WOULD BE COVERED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY PAY A PERCENTAGE AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE PAYING THE DIFFERENCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAD THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR STOPPED WORKING IN 2008. TODAY, MAY 1, 2010 THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR STOPPED WORKING. I FIND THIS TO BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AND/OR UNLOCK UNLESS YOU MANUALLY DO IT. I HAVE CHILDREN AND TO GET THE BABY OUT OF THE CAR SEAT I HAVE TO REACH BACK UNLOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY AND THEN GO AROUND THE CAR TO TAKE HIM OUT. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED IT WOULD BE $389 PER DOOR. I TRIED CALLING NISSAN HEADQUARTERS WHAT A JOKE....I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

JUST RANDOMLY, NOTHING OCCURRED TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE, MY LOCKS BEGAN ACTING UP ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO. IT RANDOMLY WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE FOR ME BEING THAT I THOUGHT I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET MY 3 MONTH OLD BABY OUT OF MY CAR. I HAD TO GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF MY CAR AND CRAWL THROUGH. HEADLIGHT LAMP CASE LEAKS CAUSING WATER TO SEEP IN AND CAUSE POTENTIAL SHORTAGE OF LAMPS. THIS CAN BE SERIOUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. *TR
FAILURE OF 2 DOOR LOCKING MECHANISMS IN 2005 MURANO 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO TAKEN IN TO NISSAN OF GASTONIA ON 4/27/10 TO HAVE THE AIR INTAKE RECALL CORRECTED. MILEAGE IS ABOUT 52,000 MILES. ON 4/29/10, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY HAD TROUBLE WITH DELAYED STARTING. CODE P0345 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A BANK 2 CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND MADE APPOINTMENT FOR THEIR NEXT AVAILABLE DATE 5/4/10 AND TOOK IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. SERVICE MANAGER FELT QUITE CERTAIN THAT THEY HAD LEFT SOMETHING UNPLUGGED. HE CAME BACK TO ME 1 HOUR LATER TO ADVISE THAT I NEEDED A NEW CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. IT COST ME $247 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS SENSOR ON LINE ON NISSAN RECALLS FOR THIS NOT TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN ON THE 05 MURANOS' TOO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AROUND A CURVE, THE DRIVERS SEAT WOBBLED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEAT FRAME HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,710.

2005 MURANO SEAT RAIL SNAPPED / FAILED. SEAT DETACHED FROM SEAT MOUNT ON LEFT SIDE DRIVERS SIDE. SEAT IS NOW LOOSE AND UNSTABLE / NOT FACTORY SECURED TO MOUNTING RAIL SYSTEM. THIS IS A SEVERE HAZARD AS PROPER OPERATIONS OF RESTRAINT AND AIRBAG SYSTEMS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED WITH THE SEAT NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO FRAME. *TR

2005 NISSAN MURANO.NO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE SEAT. I HAVE APPROX 95K MILES. BEGINNING ON FRIDAY APRIL 16TH 2010. DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BEGAN TO WOBBLE (SIDE TO SIDE) AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP. I WAS CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AS I THOUGHT THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT HAD COME OFF THE TRACK. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TRIED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING DUE TO THE PLASTIC COVERS ETC ON THE SIDES OF THE SEAT. HOWEVER, I DID NOTICE THAT I COULD COMPLETELY LIFT THE SEAT LEFT TO RIGHT. I VERY CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, WE FOUND THAT A METAL PART UNDER THE SEAT IS COMPLETELY BROKEN IN HALF. THE SEAT IS STILL ON THE TRACK AND ALL OF THE POWER FUNCTIONS ARE STILL OPERATIONAL. HOWEVER, MY SEAT NOW WOBBLES EVERY TIME I SLOW DOWN, MAKE TURNS OR COME TO A STOP. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE OF A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A COVERED ITEM UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS ISSUE AND IT WILL COST APPROX. $1000 PART AND LABOR TO REPAIR!! AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, I FELT A SNAP FROM UNDER THE SEAT AND SLIGHTLY PULLED ME DOWN, WHICH CAUSED MY FOOT TO RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL BECAUSE I AM A SKILLED AND EXPERIENCED DRIVER. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND APPARENTLY THERE IS A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE DRIVER SEAT OF A 2005 NISSAN MURANO SIMILAR TO MINE. NISSAN NEEDS TO PREVENT A MAJOR ACCIDENT UNLIKE TOYOTA THAT WAS NOT ABLE TO ON SUCH AN INSIGNIFICANT DEFECT. A LOT OF LIVES ARE AT RISK AND THEY DO NOT NEED TO WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS TO ACT ON THE ISSUE. *TR

THE DRIVERS SEAT FRAME IS MADE WITH PLASTIC PARTS AND IT BREAKS IN HALF. DRIVERS SEAT THEN BECOMES LOOSE AND COMPLETELY UNSTABLE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRAME. THE PART IS $750 WITHOUT INSTALL. ACCORDING TO THE BLOG POSTS THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN MURANOS 2003-2006. WISH I WOULD HAVE LOOKED THAT UP BEFORE BUYING THE CAR! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO ON SUNDAY, APRIL 11,201 , I HEARD SOMETHING CRACK AND MY DRIVER SEAT COLLAPSED ON THE LEFT REAR. IT APPEARS THAT THESEAT FRAME BROKE. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN, AS I HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO PULL OVER AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED. FROM AN INTERNET INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOME DIES AS A RESULT OF AN APPARENT DESIGN FLAW. *TR
ALL 4 DOOR LOCKS DOES NOT WORK WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL OR FROM THE DOOR SWITCH. DOORS DOESN'T LOCK OR UNLOCK NISSAN MURANO 2005. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO. FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH KEYLESS ENTRY, OUTSIDE ELECTRONIC DOOR BUTTON, OR MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE MANUAL LOCK INSIDE THE CAR. ONLY WAY TO LOCK DOOR IS WITH KEY. SO TO LOCK DOOR ONCE IN CAR, MUST OPEN WINDOW, AWKWARDLY INSERT KEY INTO OUTSIDE DOOR KEYHOLE WHILE INSIDE CAR, AND THEN TWIST KEY. IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY, CANNOT UNLOCK THE FRONT DOOR DRIVER SIDE WITHOUT USING KEY FROM THE INSIDE, WHICH MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE DEPENDING ON CONDITIONS OF EMERGENCY OR ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO MANY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET, DEALERS WANT FROM $500 TO $600 TO REPAIR EVEN TO FIX THE MANUAL LOCKING PROCESS FOR THE DOOR. THIS AMOUNT IS PROHIBITIVE FORM MANY PEOPLE FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A SIMPLE FIX OF LESS THAN A HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR AT LEAST THE MANUAL LOCKING PROCESS. THE ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM IS A LUXURY ITEM, BUT THE MANUAL LOCKING SYSTEM IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY THE DEALERS AND IN MY OPINION, PRESENTS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
TOTALLY UNEXPECTEDLY, THE DRIVER'S SEAT TILTED BACKWARDS ALL OF A SUDDEN, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AS I LOST CONTROL FOR A WHILE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GARAGE AFTER WEDGING THE SEAT STATIONARY WITH BLOCKS OF WOOD. THE MECHANIC SAID THE WELD ON THE SEAT BRACKET BROKE AND THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX AT A COST OF $1100. DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO GET NISSAN TO REPAIR WHAT WAS CLEARLY A FAULTY DESIGN THAT CAUSED METAL FATIGUE, THE SEAT STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND IN A SHORT TIME ABOUT 200 INSTANCES OF THIS BRACKET BREAKING IN THIS SAME SPOT. FAILURE OF ONE OR MORE DOOR LOCKS TO RESPOND TO ELECTRIC LOCK BUTTON OR INTELLIGENT KEY. INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BUT THEN TWO DOORS FINALLY CEASED RESPONDING. REPLACEMENT OF ACTUATOR REQUIRED. RESEARCH CONDUCTED ONLINE INDICATES THAT MALFUNCTION OF DOORLOCKS WITHIN THE FIRST 5 YEARS OF A NISSAN VEHICLE'S LIFE IS COMMON. IN ADDITION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS AN INVENTORY OF REPLACEMENT ACTUATORS FOR ALTIMAS. FORTUNATELY I HAVEN'T REQUIRED IMMEDIATE RESPONSE OF THE DOOR LOCKS TO PROTECT MY FAMILY IN AN EMERGENCY, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITIES. THEREFORE, I HAVE BEEN REPLACING ACTUATORS IN EACH DOOR AS THEY FAIL. *TR

I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS "INCIDENTS" REGARDING A CONTINULING PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR. THE MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THE VISOR UPRIGHT AND IN AN ANGLE POSITION TO BLOCK THE SUN IS NOT WORKING AND REPEATEDLY DROPS AND DROOPS RATHER UNEXPECTEDLY TO THE POINT OF HINDERING MY ABILITY OF DRIVING SAFELY. NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VISOR DROPS AND BLOCKS MY VIEW SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TALKED TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAY IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THERE IS NO RECALL INFOMATION AND I MUST REPLACE ON MY OWN EXPENSE REGARDLESS IF I HAVE A WARRANTY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY SOLUTIONS OTHER THAN TO PAY OVER $500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I FIND THIS OUTRAGEOUS AND DANDEROUS. AN ONLINE SEARCH YEILDS A LARGE NUMBER OF OTHER MURANO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
2005 MURANO SL WITH 48900 MILES. FAILED DRIVER'S SEAT AS NOTED IN 207 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. UPON GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE, THE LEFT BACK PORTION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT SUDDENLY POPPED AND TILTED TO THE LEFT. THERE IS A SEVERE ROCKING MOTION OF THE SEAT NOW AND TURNING RIGHT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL WITH FORCE IN ORDER TO REMAIN UPRIGHT AND DRIVE APPROPRIATELY. CURRENTLY AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAVING THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. HAVEN'T YET GOTTEN WORD ON THE "COST" OF THIS REPAIR BUT FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY NISSAN AS THIS IS A STRUCTURAL FAILURE THAT SHOULD NOT OCCUR. HAVING NO INJURIES REPORTED DOES NOT MEAN THIS COULDN'T HAPPEN SOON. IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE YOU MOST DEFINITELY COULD LOSE CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE.
ON MARCH 27, 2010, I WAS STOPPING AT A LIGHT AND THE DRIVER'S FRONT SEAT, IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO, BROKE. I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY; HOWEVER, MY SEAT WAS NOT COVERED. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND IT COST ME $461.23 TO HAVE MY SEAT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT MY REAR CUSHION SUPPORT BRACKET WAS BROKEN, THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MURANOS, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO EITHER GET IT FIXED THERE (AT THE DEALERSHIP) OR I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO ANOTHER FACILITY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS IS NOT NORMAL - WEAR AND TEAR 'A BROKEN SEAT FROM STOPPING AT A LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS, BUT WOULD PUT IN A COMPLAINT ON MY BEHALF. *TR

DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK DOES NOT WORK RELIABLY. IT WILL WORK USING THE KEY MANUALLY. THE OTHER LOCKS APPEAR TO BE WORKING PROPERLY AT THIS TIME. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED BY CAR AND BELONGINGS TO BE UNSECURED AND POSES A SAFETY CONCERN.

LOOKING UNDER THE SEAT THE ONE OF THE METAL SUPPORT BARS HAS COME UNWELDED FROM THE TRACK CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN TO THE LEFT AGAINST THE DOOR. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A SNAPPING SOUND AND THEN THE LEFT SIDE OF MY DRIVER'S SEAT BEGAN TO LEAN TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE SEAT WAS VERY LOOSE AND EACH TIME I WENT AROUND A CURVE OR CAME TO A STOP THE SEAT WOULD SHIFT DRAMATICALLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MURANO. THEY HAVE EVEN PUBLISHED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO THEIR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DEPARTMENTS ON THIS MATTER. HOWEVER, THE PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY OF THE VEHICLE WARRANTIES AND THEY WANTED APPROX. $1200.00 IN PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE THE BROKEN PART, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A WELD IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME. I OPTED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY WELDED MY EXISTING SEAT FRAME BACK TOGETHER FOR A COST OF $100.00. I FEEL THAT IF NISSAN IS AWARE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS OFTEN ENOUGH FOR THEM TO ALERT THEIR SERVICE DEPT. OF THE MATTER THAT THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR DEFECTIVE PARTS. *TR
