I WAS ON EXPRESSWAY, DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MILES PER HOUR AND WITHOUT WARNING CAR LOST ALL ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN SPEED. CAR ENGINE WOULD REV WHEN YOU PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND. VEHICLES BEHIND ME HAD TO HIT ON THERE BRAKES AND GO AROUND ME AS I ATTEMPTED TO STEER VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY. ONCE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR LEAVING ME STRANDED. I HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY HOME. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN THAT ENGINE COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO MY TRANSMISSION AND RUINED MY TRANSMISSION. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON NISSAN PATHFINDERS AND THE COST TO REPAIR VEHICLE IS BETWEEN 4 AND 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON I-95 DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT STOP AND GO SPEEDS DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND WHEN THE OPERATOR WANTED TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. IT TOOK VARIOUS TRIES BEFORE IT WAS ABLE TO MOVE AND PLACED ON THE CURB. AFTER THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO RESPOND AGAIN BUT AT LIMITED SPEEDS AND WAS ABLE TO BARELY MADE IT BACK HOME AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. IT WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. IT HAS BEEN FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THERE IS A CONTAMINATION OF TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FLUIDS / COOLANTS AND A TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE MAY BE POSSIBLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN OPERATION SINCE THIS WAS DISCOVERED AND WE ARE EVALUATING OPTIONS FOR REPAIR, UP TO AND INCLUDING TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER-TRAIN AND RADIATOR. AFTER INVESTIGATING THIS POSSIBLE FAILURE I WAS ABLE TO FIND THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON MANUFACTURER DEFECT BUT I CAN NOT FIND ANY RECALL NOTICES. THIS WAS A VERY DISTURBING INCIDENT AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRING IN THE MIDDLE OF I-95 COULD HAVE RESULTED IN CRASH DUE TO THE SUDDEN DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I'M LOOKING FOR GUIDANCE ON HOW THIS CAN BE TAKEN TO THE MANUFACTURER SO THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF THIS OBVIOUS FACTORY DEFECT. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING BACK FROM YOU. *TR
THE TRUCK BEGIN TO SHIFT HARD AND RIDE AS IF ON GROOVES IN THE ROAD. AT TIME YOU WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE YOUR FEET FROM THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES TO STOP THE VIBRATION. THE TRUCK WOULD JERK WHILE DRIVING OR EXCEL VERY FAST WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER MONTHS OF THIS THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON 11/19/13. I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE NISSAN DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY CAME BACK WITH A ESTIMATED INVESTMENT: TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR, MATIC S COOLANT. NO CODES OR ISSUES THAT WERE WRONG AND AT THE BOTTOM A GRAND TOTAL OF $5047.33. I WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING IT TO GO BAD. HE SAID THE COOLANT DAMAGES ALL THE INNER PARTS THROUGH CORROSION. I THOUGHT WHILE ALL THE REPORTS I HAVE READ ABOUT ONLINE ABOUT THE 2006-2010 MODELS NISSAN IS HAPPENING TO ME. SO WHAT DO I DO PAY A FORTUNE TO FIX A DEFECT THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT SINCE 2007 AND HAVEN'T RECALLED TO FIX THEM IN A CAR I JUST BOUGHT A YEAR AGO, THAT IS NO WHERE BEING PAID OFF. WE NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS THERE ARE COMPLAINTS FROM NC TO CANADA. THIS IS NOT OCCURRING IN VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IN CARS THAT ARE OVER THE MILEAGE. THEY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION PRESSURE WAS TO MUCH. IT IS A SUV WITH POWER THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY FOR THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED IN THE TRANSMISSION. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AND THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE AFTER SOME TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000. UPDATED 12/01/14*LJ *JS
RADIATOR FAILED (PRODUCT DEFECT, NO ACCIDENT OR EXTERNAL CAUSES) AND LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, EFFECTIVELY DESTROYING IT. HAD TO GET BOTH RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION REPLACED. SYMPTOMS STARTED WITH SHUDDERING DURING SHIFTING, WHICH LED TO ROUGH SHIFTING, GEAR SLIPPAGE, CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT, AND EVENTUALLY THE CAR NOT EVEN STARTING. *TR
THIS IS ALL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED (BY NISSAN DEALER) FOR THE KNOWN RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. REPAIR BACK IN MAY 2013 WITH APPROX. MILEAGE 68000. NOW VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 75000. DRIVING HOME FROM DINNER WITH WIFE IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. HERD A CLUNK AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. BARELY MADE IT HOME. I LET VEHICLE COOL DOWN AND REMOVED THE RADIATOR CAP AND FOUND THICK CREAM LIKE FLUID WHICH IS A DEFINITE SIGN OF OIL BASED FLUID CONTAMINATED WITH WATER / GLYCOL. SEEMS TO ME THAT NISSAN DID NOT REPLACE OR FIX THE LEAKING RADIATOR. DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT BEHAVES IN THIS MANNER CAN NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE. BACK TO THE SHOP (DEALER) TOMORROW. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT DUE AN APPARENT KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION HAS OCCURRED. THE NEEDED REPAIRS ESTIMATE IS $7,800 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR AND ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND MY CAR SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I MADE MY WAY TO A STREET LOCATION AND PULLED MY CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE CAR OFF. IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
MAJOR VIBRATION DURING SHIFTING GEARS (TRANSMISSION). CONCERNED THAT COOLANT HAS LEAKED FROM RADIATOR INTO TRANSMISSION AS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THOUSANDS OF OTHER PATHFINDERS. NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL AND REPLACE RADIATORS/TRANSMISSIONS. *JB
CALSONIC RADIATOR ISSUE - TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT MIXED CAUSING ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION. BAD TRANSMISSION COOLER AREA PER AAMCO. NISSAN IS UNWILLING TO HELP AS MY VEHICLE HAS 126K MILES ON IT. THESE ISSUES APPEAR TO BE HAPPENING IN A MUCH GREATER % THAN NISSAN IS ACKNOWLEDGING. THEY MOVED THE WARRANTY FROM 3 YRS/36000 MILES TO 8 YEARS/80000 MILES BUT IT STILL DOESN'T HELP THOSE WHOSE RADIATOR LEAKED AFTER THE 100K LEVEL PREMATURELY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ALSO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT ISSUE. IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN CORPORATE, DEALERS, TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE - SADLY, MOST CONSUMERS DON'T. I WOULD HAVE GLADLY REPLACED MY RADIATOR FOR $500 BUT NOW I WILL BE OUT $4000 BECAUSE NISSAN DIDN'T TELL THEIR OWNERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AT SPEEDS OF APPROX 45 MPH. OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THE CONDITION WORSENED - THE VIBRATIONS BECAME MORE AGGRESSIVE AND BEGAN TO OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS. AFTER INVESTIGATION BY NISSAN, THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE RADIATOR AND POSSIBLY TRANSMISSION THAT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 100,000 MILE LIMIT. THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER LINE AND ULTIMATELY RIGHT INTO THE TRANSMISSION, THEREBY CAUSING DAMAGE THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE REPAIRED WITH A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND NISSAN NEGLECTED TO ALERT CONSUMERS. AT THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM AND VALVE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW VALVE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
THIS PATHFINDER IS EXPERIENCING A FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER / RADIATOR ASSEMBLY AND IS WITHIN THE 10 YEAR PERIOD SPECIFIED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IS BEYOND THE 100,000 MILE LIMIT. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS DEFECT, THE SEVERITY OF THIS FAILURE, THE REPETITIVE NATURE OF THE FAILURES AND THE LIMITED OR MISSING FAILURE WARNING SIGNS, I BELIEVE THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS WARRANTED. EXTENDING A WARRANTY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME A LIMITED MILEAGE THAT MOST CONSUMERS BREEZE THROUGH IN A FEW YEARS IN ORDER TO AVOID A RECALL IS NOT GOOD FOR REPEAT BUSINESS OR SAFETY. NISSAN SETTLED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHERE IT IDENTIFIED THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR, BUT CAPPED THE WARRANTY AT 10 YEARS/100,000 MILES. WHETHER OR NOT THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 10,000 MILES, OR 200,000 MILES, IT IS STILL A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, NOT CAUSED BY THE CONSUMER. SIMPLY EXTENDING THE WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE RADIATOR WITHOUT WARNING CONSUMERS OF THE CONSEQUENCES TO THE TRANSMISSION ONLY MAKES SENSE TO ME IF NISSAN IS LOOKING TO CUT THEIR LOSSES. WHY DIDN'T NISSAN WARN CONSUMERS THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL VERY QUICKLY AS A RESULT OF A CRACKED COOLER TUBE? HOW MANY CONSUMERS MUST NEEDLESSLY SUFFER TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND ON BUSY, CONGESTED HIGHWAYS BEFORE NISSAN DOES THE ETHICAL THING AND ISSUES A SAFETY RECALL? THIS DEFECT NEED NOT BE LEFT ON THE CONSUMER'S SHOULDERS, AND COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES FOR THE OWNER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOSE POWER BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS HAD MIXED AND BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY PATHFINDER DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I REACHED 40 MPH, IT BEGAN TO HESITATE AS IF THE OVERDRIVE WAS NOT WORKING. AS I GAVE IT MORE GAS, IT STOPPED. IT HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE TO THE POINT THAT ANYWHERE FROM 40 TO 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE IS HESITATING UNLESS YOU EITHER SLOW TO BELOW 40 OR SPEED UP TO ABOVE 50. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND HE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS MIXING WITH THE COOLANT, WHICH MEANS THAT I MUST PAY TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED OR PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE! I HAVE SINCE HEARD THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAS GONE OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT, IF THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME (YEARS) AS I HAVE RESEARCHED, THEN I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. WHY WAS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THE ISSUE, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED EASILY INSTEAD OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE THING AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE! I ALSO REALIZE THAT AT ANY MOMENT MY VEHICLE COULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO ME OR MY FAMILY. *TR
MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE SLUGGISH AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND TRIED TO CRANK MY TRUCK TO LEAVE IT WOULD NOT SAY A WORD. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN MORROW FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TESTING. I RECEIVED A CALL THE NEXT DAY STATING THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK UP AND RUNNING. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT I HAD M VEHICLE SERVICED LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND THERE WAS NEVER AN INDICATION THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. THEY QUOTED ME 6,100 TO REPAIR MY TRUCK. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED AND SENT TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK AS NEEDING A ENGINECONTROL MODULE. MY ISSUE WITH NISSAN IS THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS SIMILIAR TO MINE AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEMS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SPEAK TO SOME ONE DIRECTLY ABOUT MY ISSUES AS THERE ARE TOO MANY TO LIST HERE.
IN THE MIDDLE OF 2013, THE DEALER RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH FOR MY 2007 PATHFINDER. I GAVE THEM THE GO AHEAD. ONLY A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO JERK AND SHIFT VIOLENTLY INTO GEAR. EVENTUALLY, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $6K TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD JUST GET A NEW CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION COOLER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION OVERHAULED. THE WORK WAS QUOTED AT $3,500 WHICH WAS A LOT BETTER THAN $6,000 SO I WENT AHEAD WITH THE REPAIR. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WOULD REQUIRE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION COOLER TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, THE REPAIR WAS EXECUTED BY THE DEALERSHIP IN LATE 2014. THEN IN MID 2015 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE. I AM JUST WAITING FOR THE TRUCK TO DIE ON ME ANY DAY. RECENTLY I CAME ACROSS SOME INFORMATION ABOUT A CLASS-ACTION SUIT THAT WAS SETTLED AGAINST NISSAN IN 2013 OVER THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SETTLEMENT AND SHOULD HAVE OFFERED ME THE OPTION TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED UNDER THE TERMS OF THAT SETTLEMENT - BUT THEY DID NOT. FURTHER, I UNDERSTAND NISSAN HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH A NEW PART BUT I SUSPECT THAT THE DEALER USED THE OLD TYPE OF PARTS WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR BODY SHOP AND THIS IS THE REASON MY TRANSMISSION IS ONCE AGAIN EXHIBITING SIGNS OF AN IMPENDING PROBLEM. THIS IS JUST NOT GOOD FOR CONSUMERS AND IT IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD FOR NISSAN'S REPUTATION. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY NISSAN.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SKID OFF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIE ROD FAILED BECAUSE OF CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND SOLD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,736.
CRACKED RADIATOR ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO TRANSMISSION SO NOT KNOWING NISSAN WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM WE HAD A NEW RADIATOR INSTALLED AND THE COOLING SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION FLUSHED OUT MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS 79290 NOW 4 MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND NEED A NEW ONE MILEAGE NOW 83158 SINCE THE MILEAGE IS ABOVE 80000 NISSAN WILL NOT FIX THE CAR UNDER THERE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WANTS ME TO DOLE OUT 2500.00$. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN NISSAN WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THERE TRANSMISSIONS I WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A NISSAN AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER THE FIRST TIME. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH APPROXIMATELY 58,000 MILES. MY WIFE AND 1 WEEK OLD SON WERE OUT AND THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY RAN OUT OF GAS, EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE SHOWED HALF-FULL. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THEM QUICKLY AND PICK THEM UP. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE 100,000S OF 2006-2008 PATHFINDERS AND XTERRAS WITH A VERY WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. CAR LOSES POWER, SHUTTERS, HAS HIGH RPM WITHOUT ACCELERATION, SKIPS GEARS, STALLS. HAD RADIATOR REPLACED ($1,200), BUT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD A NEW TRANSMISSION IS NEEDED DUE TO COOLANT MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND DAMAGING TRANSMISSION AND COMPONENTS ($4,500). *TR
2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS THE PROBLEM (ERROR CODE PO463), AFTER FUELING UP THE GAS GAUGE LEVEL DROPPED, FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NISSAN ASSIST REFUSES TO COVER THE PROBLEM STATING THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT A CAMPAIGN OR EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. WITH SO MANY VEHICLES AFFECTED AND THE DANGER OF NO GAS LEVEL READING IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. NISSAN SURELY WILL NEVER SEE MY BUSINESS FOR ANY FUTURE PURCHASE OF A VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING I NOTICED WHAT SEEMED TO BE A MINOR LACK OF POWER OR CUTTING OUT WHEN COASTING DOWNHILL. I MENTIONED IT TO MY SALES REP, AND AGAIN WHEN I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR A TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE AND REAR DOOR HANDLE PROBLEM. I HAD NEVER OWNED A 4WD BEFORE AND IT WAS DISMISSED AS NO BIG DEAL SINCE IT STILL DROVE OKAY. THEN LAST WEEK, OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND, MY CAR OVERHEATED AND IMMEDIATELY DISCHARGED A GREY MILKY SUBSTANCE FROM THE RADIATOR WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAD NOT OVERHEATED PRIOR TO THIS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR NEED REPLACING TO THE TUNE OF $6,600. THE CAUSE BEING THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR IS OVER HALF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE DEFECT. AT A MINIMUM I WOULD HAVE INSISTED IT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. I PAID FULL RETAIL PRICE FOR THE CAR NOT KNOWING OF THIS DEFECT. WHILE I'M GRATEFUL NO ONE WAS INJURED BY THIS DEFECT THIS TIME, I HAVE NO MEANS TO PAY THE REPAIR COSTS AND OWE $13,000 TO THE BANK FOR A VEHICLE I CANNOT DRIVE OR RESELL. *JB
2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 86K MILES. VEHICLE BEGAN HESITATING WHEN TRAVELING 40 MPH ON HIGHWAY, THEN LOSS OF POWER SOMETIMES. THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. COOLER LINE HAD FAILED AND MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION. I CALLED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 100K BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2500 OUT OF POCKET. LEARNED OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN 2012. THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILED SUDDENLY WITH NO KNOWN NOTICE. LUCKILY HE WAS ABLE TO STEER OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL ASSISTANCE COULD COME. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS DEFINITELY AWARE OF. THEY WILL NOT RECALL THESE RADIATORS WHILE FULLY KNOWING THAT THE TRANSMISSION OF ALL 2005 THROUGH 2010 PATHFINDERS WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL LEAVING THEIR CONSUMERS AT A SAFETY RISK. THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSIONS ARE ONLY COVERED UP TO 80,000 MILES OR 8 YEARS, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. AFTER THAT, THE CONSUMER IS ON THE HOOK FOR REPAIRS. I ASKED HOW MUCH WAS THE DEDUCTIBLE, FOOLISHLY THINKING THAT IT WOULD BE AROUND $500, AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $3000. I ASKED WHY WASN'T THIS TREATED AS A RECALL AND WAS NOT GIVEN A STRAIGHT ANSWER. JUST THE TYPICAL BS THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY "STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT". ULTIMATELY I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHED IT OUT. MY MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE RADIATOR FLUSH THE WHOLE SYSTEM PUT NEW FLUIDS IN TOTAL COST $976.OO HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE HE SAID IT NEEDED TO BE LOOKED AT BY A SPECIALIST SINCE HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN OR IF EVEN THE TRANSMSSION WOULD WORK. WELL IT WORKED BUT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ON THE WAY TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP ONCE THEY GOT DONE WITH IT AND REPLACED EVERYTHIN THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION I PAID $3227.49. ACCORDING TO EVERYTHING I READ THIS CAN HAPEN TO THE PATHFINDER WITHOUT ANY PRIOR PROBLEMS. WE TOOK PRETTY GOOD CARE OF OURS WAS A GREAT VEHICLE TILL WE HAD TO DISH OUT ALMOST 5K AFTER WE HAD JUST PAID IT OFF. I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN! *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR/RADIATOR COOLERS IN THE '05, '06 AND '07 NISSAN PATHFINDERS WHICH CAUSES THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. AT ABOUT 50 TO 60 MPH THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS CONSTANTLY TO A LOWER GEAR AND THE RPM SHOOTS UP TO 4000 OR SO, I HAVE TO ACCELERATE TO 75 FOR IT TO GIVE ME A HIGHER GEAR. THESE HAPPENS TO ME CONSTANTLY. *TR

TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO COVER THE POWERTRAIN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE COOLER CRACKED WHICH CAUSED THE RADIATOR FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANMISSION AND MESSED UP THE RADIATOR, WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BECAUSE THE RADIATOR COOLER WAS NOT PART OF IT. WHEN SLOWING TO A LIGHT AT A VERY LOW SPEED ( APPROX. 5 MPH), THERE WAS A GRINDING OR RUBBING SOUND. THE ABS, VDC OFF AND SLIP LIGHTS CAME ON. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL THIS MEANS THAT THERE IS ONE OR MORE ISSUES WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND/OR ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. I SAW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THIS FOR 2006 AND 2008 MODELS SO I ASSUME THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH 2007 ONES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE RADIATOR WHICH HAD CRACKED AND ALLOWED COOLANT TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON STREET AROUND 2 PM, THE CAR JUST LOST ITS POWER AND I END UP STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH MY 2 KIDS AT THE BACK SEATS, THE CAR WONT MOVED AND I NEED TO CALL FOR HELP SO THE OTHER DRIVER HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND TOWED MY CAR TO THE NEAREST SHOP AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION MIXED WITH WATER COMING FROM THE RADIATOR. IT COST 2800 FOR EVERYTHING. HAD HALF TANK OF GAS. FILLED AT STATION FUEL GAUGE DIDN'T SHOW FULL TANK. TRIED TO ADD GAS JUST TO SEE IF IT REALLY WASN'T FULL, BUT WOULDN'T TAKE ANYMORE. THEN IMMEDIATELY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
