I TOOK MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKES WORKED ON AND WHILE THERE THEY PERFORMED A MULTI POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION. FROM THIS INSPECTION THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS CROSS CONTAMINATION OF THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO A FAILED TRANSMISSION COOLER. THEY INDICATED THAT DAMAGE HAD ALREADY STARTED AND IT WOULD ONLY BE A SHORT TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY SO I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THERE WOULD BE A $3,000 DEDUCTIBLE COST. IN TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL AND RESEARCHING ONLINE IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FAILURE WHICH COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. MY FAMILY AND I ARE THANKFUL THAT JUST BY CHANCE THE BRAKES NEEDED WORK OTHERWISE MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND BEEN AT RISK OF POTENTIAL INJURY IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY AS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER NISSAN PATHFINDER VEHICLE OWNERS. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF FAILURES THAT HAS OCCURRED IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR NISSAN TO JUST EXTEND THE WARRANTY INSTEAD OF TAKING A PROACTIVE APPROACH AND ACTUALLY NOTIFYING THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE PROBLEM AND FIXING THE KNOWN PROBLEM UNDER A VOLUNTARY RECALL. I URGE THE NHTSA TO INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION AND HOLD NISSAN RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DESIGN FAILURE AND PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM THE POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK BY FORCING A MANDATORY RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF JUST WAITING FOR FAILURE WHICH PUTS THE CONSUMER AT RISK. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM PICKING UP OUR CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL. SHE WAS TRAVELING APPROX 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, BECAME UNSTABLE, AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE SAID THAT IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH FIVE TIMES MORE. FORCE THAN NORMAL ALMOST CAUSING HER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND TO BE THAT COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND HAD DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER AND THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
AT 35,500 MILES THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER SHOES FAILED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 4.0L MOTOR. THIS REPAIR IS $1000 AND NOT COVERED BY ANY REMAINING WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT SINCE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR THIS DEFECTIVE PART IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS WOULD BE DANGEROUS IF THIS FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING SLOW ENOUGH TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2007 PATHFINDER FROM A VERY REPUTABLE USED CAR BUSINESS, CARMAX ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO. THEY ARE VERY WELL KNOWN IN THE AREA FOR THOROUGHLY CHECKING THEIR VEHICLES BEFORE RESELLING. IT HAD APPROX 59K MILES ON IT AND I'VE LOVED IT UNTIL RECENTLY. I STARTED EXPERIENCING HEATING PROBLEMS AWHILE AGO BUT MY MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG - HE EVEN CHECKED THE RADIATOR. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHUDDER OCCASIONALLY WHEN I REACHED ABOUT 40 MPH. AT FIRST IT WAS VERY MINOR, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS MAYBE GROOVES IN THE ROAD, ETC BUT THE ISSUE GOT WORSE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION - THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I WAS ALSO TOLD FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION PROBABLY WOULDN'T HELP. THE RADIATOR IS GOING TO COST ME $913 AND BECAUSE THIS IS SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND AT $7400! I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE AND AM WONDERING HOW WILL I EVER TRADE THIS IN OR EVEN AFFORD TO FIX IT. NISSAN WON'T HELP IN ANY WAY, EVEN BY DISCOUNTING THE LABOR AND PARTS AND THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT WON'T HELP EITHER BECAUSE MY PATHFINDER HAS 109K MILES ON IT - 9K OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NISSAN ISSUED. WHAT A DISASTER. I'M A SINGLE MOM WITH A YOUNG DAUGHTER AND A MOTHER I CARE FOR. I RECENTLY TOOK MY FAMILY TO VISIT MY SISTER IN WEST VIRGINIA, YOU KNOW - MOUNTAINS. IMAGINE IF SOMETHING WOULD'VE HAPPENED THEN. I HAD NO IDEA ALL OF THIS WAS GOING ON AND AM NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN THAT THERE WAS A POTENTIAL ISSUE - I WOULD'VE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND BEEN COVERED FOR REPAIRS!!! THIS IS A NIGHTMARE AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IN SOME WAY. WHY AREN'T THEY STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AT ALL!! DO A COUPLE OF HUNDRED PEOPLE HAVE TO GET HURT BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH KIDS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN POWER IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TO NOTHING THEN SPORADICALLY STARTED WORKING AND NOT. SHE INTELLIGENTLY WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND GET THE VEHICLE TO A SIDE ROAD IN A BOAT RAMP PARKING AREA WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RUN IN ANY GEAR. I WAS CALLED AND MADE AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND CALLED MY PARENTS TO PICK THEN UP FOR THIS WAS OUR ONLY VEHICLE OF TRANSPORTATION. AFTER WORK MY DAD, UNCLE AND I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR HOME WHERE IT HAS SET SINCE. DUE TO FINDING OUT THAT NISSAN ALREADY HAD A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THIS AND THE RULING WITH THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL INTO ANY COMPENSATION OR ASSISTANCE TO BE FIXED THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS ONLY SIX YEARS OLD. JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON A BUSY ROAD DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SAFETY RECALL. MY UNDERSTANDING OF ISSUE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE MILEAGE RELATED AS MUCH AS TIME OF THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN. *TR
THE RADIATOR LEAKED FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION RENDERING IT USELESS. THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT WITH THE 2007 NISSAN. *TR
THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE IS P0463, FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT. I WENT TODAY 5/25/13 TO GET A MA INSPECTION STICKER. THE VEHICLE FAILED DUE TO THIS CODE. *TR
THE RADIATOR LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT A CRITICAL OPERATIONAL POINT. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE, BUCKED SHARPLY AND NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION. THE VEHICLES WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR DRIVETRAIN FAILURE WITHIN 8 MONTHS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF SUBSTANDARD DEIGN, PARTS, AND CRAFTSMANSHIP IN THE 2007 PATHFINDER THAT RENDER THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE ROADWAYS. PLEASE TAKE ACTION BEFORE THERE ARE SERIOUS INJURIES RELATED TO THESE DEFECTIVE DRIVETRAINS. *TR
FAILURE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DUE TO CROSS CONTAMINATION OF COOLANT FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION. *TR
VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. GOT A TRANS FLUSH HOPING IT WOULD IMPROVE. PROBLEM RETURNED. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO GARAGE AND HAD A NEW WIRING HARNESS PUT ON. PROBLEM RETURNED. GOT STRANDED AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED. DETERMINED THAT COOLANT WAS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. HUGE REPAIR BILL. PART OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT NOW BUT AM STILL OUT $2500. PROBABLY STARTED OCCURRING BEFORE 80,000 MILES AND HAD I BEEN MORE INVESTIGATIVE AT THAT TIME, BILL WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER 80,000. NOW IT'S OVER THAT AMOUNT AND I AM OUT OF LUCK. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT IN NISSAN! *TR
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIFT ROUGHLY. IT WAS DETERMINED THROUGH THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT THE RADIATOR HAD A CRACK IN , AND RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING WEIRD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT VIOLENTLY LURCHED FORWARD WHILE IN TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT TO THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD COOLANT IN IT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WILL COST OVER $9,000 TO REPAIR AND THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE LURCHING FORWARD SO VIOLENTLY IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION COOLER ETC... *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT SENSOR CAME ON AND KEEPS FLASHING. JUST STARTED THE CAR AND THE SENSOR LIGHT KEPT FLASHING. TOOK TO NISSAN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TOLD THEM AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING. THEY ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST $800 TO FIX AND THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. *TR
AFTER A 90K MILE CHECK-UP AND FULL SERVICE IN SPRING 2012, I UNDERSTOOD THAT MY PATHFINDER WAS RUNNING WELL. NEVER WAS THERE A MENTION OF ISSUES WITH THE RADIATOR / TRANSMISSION, NOR WAS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE ELEMENTS REPLACED TO PREVENT AN ISSUE (TO MY KNOWLEDGE.) AT 101K MILES, THE HEAT WENT OUT IN THE REAR SECTION OF THE CAR (I DID NOT REALIZE THIS UNTIL TWO MONTHS HAD GONE BY AND I WAS ARGUING WITH MY FREEZING CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT THAT I HAD HIS HEAT AS HOT AS IT WOULD GO - HE WAS CLEARLY CORRECT AND THE REAR BLOWERS WERE BLASTING HIM WITH ICY AIR.) THERE WAS A "CLUNK" UPON SHIFTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE, AND BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH THE TRANSMISSION LAGGED AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GRINDING AND WORKING HARD. AT 106K I BROUGHT THE PATHFINDER TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR. THIS WAS THE SAME DEALER WHO HAD DONE THE 90K SERVICE, AS WELL. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THAT MY CAR NEEDED BOTH A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FOR $9,000.00. (MY TRUCK IS MAYBE WORTH $15,000 AT THIS POINT - REALLY?) AFTER DELIBERATING WITH THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR, HE OFFERED AN ALTERNATE OPTION OF ONLY CHANGING THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION SEVERAL TIMES TO ELIMINATE THE CONTAMINATED FLUID. I GAVE THE OK FOR THIS SERVICE OPTION AT $600. SINCE THE SERVICE, MY TRANSMISSION IS STILL LAGGING BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH AND THE "CLUNK" STILL HAPPENS DURING A SLOW REVERSE. I AM NOW INVESTIGATING MY OPTIONS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AS THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE, OTHER THAN ITS ENGINE ISSUES. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THIS ISSUE IS WIDE-SPREAD ENOUGH THAT THE TRANSMISSIONS AND RADIATOR SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED BY NISSAN - OR PAID FOR BY NISSAN SINCE IT'S THEIR FAULTY PARTS THAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. *TR
WAS TOLD THAT RADIATOR COOLANT WAS MIXING WITH MY TRANSMISSION FLUID. I NOTICED FIRST THAT THE HEATER WASN'T GETTING VERY HOT A FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT SINCE I LIVE IN TEXAS, THIS WASN'T A HUGE DEAL FOR ME SINCE IT'S NOT THAT COLD AND SO I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT SERVICED AT MY NEXT REGULAR OIL CHANGE. HOWEVER, THEN JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD SHUDDER AROUND 45 - 50 MPH SO I TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING A KNOWN DEFECT OF NISSAN'S BUILT BETWEEN 2005 - 2010. IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO (ABOUT THE TIME I STARTED NOTICING THE HEATER ISSUE) I WOULD'VE BEEN FULLY COVERED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 80,000 MILES FOR THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT. BUT I'M AT 84,000 AND THEREFORE HAVE TO PAY $2500 OUT OF POCKET FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD STILL BE COVERED SINCE I STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES BEFORE 80,000 MILES BUT I HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WOULD BE SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM THAT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR ON A CAR THAT IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD... *TR
THE ISSUE IS WITH A 2007 PATHFINDER. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE STARTS TO RACE AND THERE IS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. TWICE I HAVE INCURRED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. IF A STATIONARY OBJECT HAD NOT BEEN IN THE WAY (POLES), THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO PLOW FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN BOTH INSTANCES BUT THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RACING (SOUNDED LIKE YOUR FOOT WAS ACTUALLY ON HE GAS PEDAL AND PURPOSELY RACING THE CAR). MY NISSAN SERVICE PERSONNEL SAID THEY COULD NOT DETECT ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WENT HEY CHECKED IT THE FIRST TIME. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, I GOT RID OF THE VEHICLE. THANKFULLY, NOBODY WAS INJURED. HAPPENING ONCE WAS ENOUGH, BUT TWICE? IN CERTAIN INSTANCES, I HAVE ALSO NOTICED WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, FOR EXAMPLE, I COULD FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL MOVING CLOSER TO THE FLOOR LIKE THE SYSTEM WAS LOSING PRESSURE. *TR
THE RADIATOR HAS LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND NOW THE TRUCK DOESN'T START. THE TRANSMISSION NO LONGER WORKS AND NEITHER DOES THE RADIATOR DUE TO A FAULTY WIRE BETWEEN THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. NISSAN KNOWS ALL ABOUT THE DEFECT BUT REFUSES TO RECALL IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD MIXED AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR SPEEDING UP BETWEEN ABOUT 30-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS OF WORK COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR IS FAULTY CAUSING CROSS-CONTAMINATION BETWEEN ENGINE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. I AM AWARE THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT PENDING. I HAVE SPENT SIGNIFICANT MONEY TO TROUBLESHOOT AND REPLACE WHAT WAS NEEDED (RADIATOR AND MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION FLUSHES) AND FEEL I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED AS WELL AS HAVE A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION AND ADDITIONAL REPAIR/REPLACEMENT IF NEEDED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE IS NOW DAMAGED DUE TO TRANSMISSION FLUID BEING IN THERE AND POSSIBLY THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH OF WHICH MAY BE FUTURE PROBLEMS THAT MATERIALIZE DOWN THE ROAD. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR THE MANY NISSAN CUSTOMERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO JERK WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A SAFE LOCATION AND INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE INTERNAL DAMAGE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 110,000.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHUTTERING, NOT UP SHIFTING AND LIMITED ACCELERATION AND SPEED ON FREEWAY AT 55MPH. TURNS OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES HAD BEEN LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE INTO TRANSMISSION AND DESTROYED IT. MANUFACTURER HAS REPLACED WITH SAME COOLER AND REBUILT (NOT NEW) TRANSMISSION. ISSUE STILL EXISTS INTERMITTENTLY. NEEDS RECALL ENFORCED. MANUFACTURER IS PRICING SAME COOLER AND REBUILT TRANSMISSION AT OVER $7000. THEN AGREEING TO ONLY CHARGE $2500 - $3000 PER CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT. OUTSIDE INDEPENDENT REPAIRS QUOTED AT $350 FOR COOLER AND LESS THAN $2000 FOR REBUILT TRANSMISSION. GOV.'T RECALL SHOULD COVER ALL NEW AND RE-DESIGNED PARTS. FAILURES WILL AND ARE OCCURRING AGAIN. CAN RESULT IN ACCIDENT AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TR
FUEL LEVEL GAUGE SHOWS INCORRECT READINGS. ONE MOMENT IT WILL SHOW FULL, THEN EMPTY, THEN QUARTER TANK WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY NEARING EMPTY. THE 2006 & 2008 MODELS WERE RECALLED, NOT SURE WHY THE 2007 WAS NOT RECALLED ALSO. *TR
THE RADIATOR FLUID IS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CAUSING SIGNIFICANT "RUMBLING" NOISES. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD PROVIDE AN ERRONEOUS EMPTY READING. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE FROM RADIATOR FLUID LEAKAGE INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE COOLING SYSTEM FOR THE TRANSMISSION RUNS THROUGH THE RADIATOR. WHEN THE RADIATOR FAILS RADIATOR FLUID LEAKS INTO THE TRANNY FLUID AND DESTROYS THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH PLATES AND TORQUE CONVERTER. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 36K TO 80K MILES OR 8 YEARS ON THE RADIATOR, KNOWING THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT NO NOTICE FROM THEM TO OWNERS OF THIS PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTS, IT IS TOO LATE, RESULTING IN $6800 - $7500 IN PERSONAL EXPENSES TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. NISSAN WILL NOT CONSIDER FIXING AFTER 80K MILES. FIRST ISSUE STARTED WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR/ENGINE STARTED SHAKING BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. FINAL SAFETY ISSUE OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP LIGHT ONTO A HIGHWAY RAMP. AT 40MPH THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY WENT OUT, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD JUST STARTED TO MERGE, I HAD TO SWERVE BACK ONTO THE RAMP LANE AND STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY A CAR GOING BACK INTO THE RAMP LANE. CARS WERE FORCED TO SLAM THERE BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING MY DEAD CAR, IT ALSO MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR OTHER CARS TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, SEVERAL CARS NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

BECAUSE I HAD EXCEEDED MY WARRANTY THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $9,900 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I CALLED THE ED HICKS NISSAN DEALERSHIP BACK AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS RESEARCH. THEY STATED THAT MY PROBLEM WAS A DIFFERENT ONE SO THE NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY OFFERED WOULD NOT COVER IT.
