TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED INTO ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS THEN STRUCK BY A SECOND VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH, THE FUEL PUMP BEGAN TO LEAK. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A POLICE REPORT. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF A HEAD TRAUMA. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AT THE CRASH SCENE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
CRACK IN RADIATOR THAT WAS INSTALLED BY NISSAN LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION. DRIVING DOWN ROAD IT GOT STUCK IN HIGH GEAR. *TR
MY PATHFINDER WAS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SLOWING FROM THE SPEED OF AS I WAS BRAKING AND LETTING OFF THE GAS, BUT IT KEPT MOVING FORWARD AND SHAKING. IF THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM HARD. MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT DOWN TO SLOW DOWN, DUE TO RADIATOR LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. THE COST OF MY REPAIR OF BOTH RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION IS OVER $5000. *TR
I WAS ON BUSY 495 HIGHWAY IN MARYLAND WITH MY FAMILY, ALL OF A SUDDEN MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND THERE WAS A BIG TRUCK BEHIND ME ON HIGH SPEED, MY WIFE AND KIDS STARTED SHOUTING WHEN THEY SAW THE BIG TRUCK ALMOST RAN US OVER. I HAD TOWED THE NISSAN PATHFINDER TO THE DEALER, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND MIGHT COST ME MORE THAN $6,000 TO FIX. I GOT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM NISSAN IN 2007, AND ONLY HAVE ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT. A USED CAR THAT I BOUGHT WITH 105,000 MILES ON IT, AND TOPPED IT WITH ANOTHER 65,000 MILES, MAKING IT 170,000 MILES IS STILL RUNNING GOOD! SOMEONE OUT THERE NEEDS TO SHOUT OUT THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR VEHICLES WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEFORE THEY WASTE PEOPLE'S LIVES VIA ACCIDENTS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE, I ENCOUNTERED A HESITATION OF TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONALITY WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AS I PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE LEFT TURN, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SLIP AND WOULD NOT GET OUT OF FIRST GEAR. SUBSEQUENTLY, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL AUTOEXPRESS TO HAVE THE ODB-II CODE RETRIEVED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT READ IT AS IT WAS A DEALER SPECIFIC CODE. I LEFT AND WENT RIGHT TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT A PART OF THE RADIATOR HAD BROKEN AND THE CAR WAS NOW MIXING ANTIFREEZE WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $9200.00, THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT I CALL NISSAN AS I WAS JUST 2000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. AFTER COUNTLESS CALLS TO THE CALL CENTER IN THE PHILLIPINES AND THE REGIONAL OFFICE IN OHIO, I WAS BASICALLY TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME, THEY STATED THAT BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECORDS OF MAINTENANCE BEING DONE AT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP, I WAS OUT OF LUCK. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND IT IS A FULLY LOADED MODEL. THE PLAN WAS TO DRIVE THIS TO THE 200K MILES THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN PITCHED TO COMMONLY ACHIEVE. INSTEAD, I HAVE A CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY THAT I CANT DRIVE, I STILL OWE $4700 ON IT, AND IT WILL COST ME $9L JUST TO MAKE IT USEFUL AGAIN. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. IT WILL NOT BE UNTIL SOMEONE DIES THAT ANY RECALL ACTION WILL HAPPEN. NISSAN HAS CHASED AWAY A LIFE-LONG LOYAL CUSTOMER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY HUSBAND AND I EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER AND HAD TO PULL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE TOWED FROM THERE TO THE MECHANIC WHO EXPLAINED TO US THAT THE INTERNAL RADIATOR HAD LEAKED FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING FAILURE TO BOTH. SINCE OUR WARRANTY WAS OUTDATED WE ARE NOW OUT 6000$ AND ARE STRUGGLING TO FIX THIS. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED IN THE VEHICLE. WE HAD OUR CHILDREN WITH AND I AM VERY GLAD THAT WE WERE NOT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION OR INTERSTATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HAD TO ACCELERATE AGAIN VERY SLOWLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS CROSS CONTAMINATION WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING INTO THE RADIATOR AND COOLANT ENTERING THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AND FLUSHED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE CONTINUOUSLY FLUSHED OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT ASKED THE DEALER IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V690000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS NONEXISTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE AC ON, MY VEHICLE STARTED TO BLAST OUT HOT AIR THROUGH THE VENTS AND OVERHEAT. MY CAR HAS NEVER RAN HOT BEFORE, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE I'VE HAD IT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND LET THE CAR COOL DOWN. MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE RADIATOR CAP AND NOTICED A MILKY LIQUID IN THE RADIATOR. WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY NOTIFIED US OF THE RECALL ON THE NISSAN (2005-2010 MODELS) RADIATORS. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING WHERE THE COOLANT MIXES WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND CAUSE A MAJOR REPAIR PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION KIT, THROTTLE, VIAL BODY, AND TORQUE CONVERTER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL PETRIFIED TO KNOW THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS EXISTING PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED RATHER THAN TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT AND EXTENDING THE WARRANTY. WE BOUGHT OUR TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WE ALSO PAID FOR THE 5YR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR 5 YRS AND 2 MTHS, SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE TRUSTED THIS BRAND FOR MANY YEARS AND WE DEPEND ON OUR VEHICLES ON A DAILY BASES. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALL IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HARMED IN A HIGH RISK SITUATION. WE HAD THE 90,000 MILEAGE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED WHERE THEY FLUSHED THE RADIATOR, CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION, & ETC. AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. MY HUSBAND HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR TIMELY MAINTENANCE AND NO ONE HAS EVER MENTIONED THE RADIATOR ISSUES. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THAT HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE TYPE OF FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,875.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PAHTFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. THE RADIATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE RADIATOR, WATER PUMP, RADIATOR THERMOSTAT, AND TRANSMISSION WERE DAMAGED DUE TO LEAKING RADIATOR FLUID. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED BOTH FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
FUEL GAUGE REFUSED TO GIVE CORRECT INDICATION. LEAVING US STRANDED AS IT INDICATED WE HAD FUEL BUT THERE WAS NONE IN THE TANK. *TR
2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER...WE STARTED EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION ISSUES(SLIPPING) WHILE ON HIGHWAYS AT SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOOSE GEAR/POWER. IN MOST OF THE INCIDENTS OUR VEHICLE WAS LOADED WITH MY KIDS AND WIFE AND WERE FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY TO AVOID BEING REAR-ENDED(CAUSING ACCIDENT). WE EXPERIENCED 4 INCIDENTS IN 2012 WHEN VEHICLE HAD OVER 75000 MILES. LATEST COSTLY INCIDENT TOOK PLACE 3 WEEKS AGO..MY WIFE LOST POWER AGAIN AS DRIVING OFF FREEWAY, PULLED INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, TURNED CAR OFF....ALLOWED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN BUT IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD, NO CRANKING AT ALL. LOCAL SHOP DIAGNOSED ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL COMPUTER UNIT AND TRANSMISSION....GOT ALARMED, SEARCHED ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE RECALLS/DEFECTS.SURE ENOUGH I FOUND MANY LINKS TO COMPLAINTS AND CLASS LAWSUIT IN 2012. I CONTACTED DEALER...TWO DEALER DIAGNOSTICS REFLECTED A BAD BODY CONTROL MODULE(COMPUTER UNIT) AND BAD TRANSMISSION DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION....I ALREADY NEW THIS. READING COMPLAINTS ONLINE IT APPEARS THAT THESE TWO ISSUES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL/DEFECTS BUT DEALER IS TREATING THE TWO SEPARATELY COSTING ME OVER $3400. I WILL CHALLENGE THEM ON TREATING THESE TWO AS SEPARATE ISSUES. WHY NISSAN HAS FAILED TO NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS ABOUT THESE ISSUES/DEFECTS? THESE FAILURES COULD HAVE CAUSED US AN ACCIDENT! PROPER NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN COULD HAVE SAVE US THESE $3400+ IN REPAIRS. WHY IS NISSAN WAITING UNTIL VEHICLES ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF SERVICE? WHY DO US, CONSUMERS HAVE TO COVER PART OF THEIR MIS-ENGINEERING? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AN INVESTIGATION AGAINST NISSAN AND MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE....MY FAMILY CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES AND NEGLIGENCE! *TR
AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING AND GRINDING. I PROMPTLY TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A CHECK, AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT I "JUST MISSED" THE CUT OFF FOR THE WARRANTY EXTENSION TO COVER THIS DEFECT, AS MY VEHICLE AS 81000 MILES ON IT. THE DEFECT IS REPORTEDLY ONLY COVERED UNTIL 80000. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A DEFECT OR RECALL. I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE OF MY PATHFINDER. PLEASE CONSIDER EXTENDING THIS COVERAGE, SINCE IT IS A DEFECT AND NOT RELATED TO MY CARE OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE MAINTAINED MY CAR. IN JUNE, MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $1500 AFTER I REPORTED A JOLT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I BROUGHT IT BACK 08/10/2012 AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY SAID THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND RUINED THE TRANSMISSION PRESENTING A FINANCIAL BURDEN AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR UPDATED 09/13/12
THE FAULTY SEAL THAT SEPARATES THE ANTI-FREEZE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXED AND RESULTED IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILING. THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS ADMITTING TO BUT ONLY GIVING PARTIAL REMEDY AS IT MAY NOT HAPPEN BEFORE 80,000 MILES. I FIND MYSELF ALONG WITH MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO ARE FOOTING THE BILL FOR THE 8600 DOLLAR REPAIR IN TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES. WHEN BUYING A NEW VEHICLE IT SHOULD LAST LONG ENOUGH TO FINISH PAYING THE CAR NOTE WITHOUT ANY MAJOR EXPENSES. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY AS A RECALL SO THE CONSUMER CAN BE REIMBURSED FOR TERRIBLE ENGINEERING THAT ANY MECHANIC WILL TELL YOU. EVEN THE NISSAN DEALERS KNOW IS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP. IS THERE ANY ASSISTANCE AS A CONSUMER? *JS
I UNDERSTAND NOW THAT NISSAN PATHFINDER OWNER (05-07) HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILING DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS. I NOW HAVE TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $7000+. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE FUELING, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE READ AN INACCURATE READING AND THE FUEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK MY CARE TO A GARAGE WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THEY HAVE FOUND THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LEAKING INTO MY RADIATOR AND VICE VERSA. THEY MECHANIC SAID HE HAS SEEN QUITE A FEW OF THESE, WHEN I CALLED NISSAN TO FIND OUT MORE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY OF THESE PATHFINDERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS THE FAILURE OF A 400 DOLLAR PART THAT NISSAN SENT NO NOTICE TO ANYONE FOR. I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF LUCK. I HAVE OWNED 5 NISSANS AND BECAUSE OF THIS ABSOLUTE DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMERS WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE. *TR
I DROVE 2HRS AWAY TO PICK UP MY NIECE FROM COLLEGE. THE VEHICLE WAS FINE ON THE FREEWAY, BUT AS SOON AS WE EXITED, IT STARTED TO SPUTTER. WE WERE VERY CLOSE TO CAMPUS SO WE PULLED IN AND MADE IT THROUGH A COUPLE MORE STOP SIGNS BEFORE WE PULLED INTO A STALL AND PARKED. IT WOULD NOT START AFTER THAT. I HAD TO TOW IT BACK HOME AND TO THE DEALER SHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT A PROBLEM IN THE RADIATOR CAUSED FLUIDS TO MIX WHICH SHOT MY ENGINE. NOW NISSAN WANTS TO CHARGE ME $7650 FOR A RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THAT'S RIDICULES CONSIDERING NISSAN KNEW THESE VEHICLE HAD FAULTY RADIATORS IN THEM. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS OCCURRED ON THE FREEWAY! *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN I NOTICED MY 2007 PATHFINDER WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY, THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I THEN TOOK IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO SEE WHAT CODE WAS CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY CAR TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT THE SPEED SENSOR, BUT THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS THEN TOLD THIS WAS VERY COMMON IN THE PATHFINDER AND NISSAN WOULD NOT HELP WITH REPAIR COST. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I USUALLY GET MY CAR SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WOULD NOT HELP WITH REPAIR COSTS UNLESS I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THEM FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. I DID THEY TOLD ME WHAT I ALREADY KNEW AND THAT IT WOULD COST $7500 TO REPAIR MINUS THE $105 I SPENT FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. MY CAR IS NOT PAID FOR AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT REPAIRED. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR POOR HANDLING OF THIS DEFECT. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE SOMEONE BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE THEY TAKE ACTION. SINCE FINDING OUT THIS PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND HAVE FOUND I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS FIGHT AGAINST NISSAN. *TR
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD 4TH GEAR DID NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. HAD TO GET OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. HAD TO DRIVE IT OFF ROAD AT 20/30 MILES PER HOUR IN BUSY TRAFFIC. HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT INFORMING US OF THE PROBLEM THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT MONTHS AGO. *TR
CAR STARTED SHIFTING VERY ROUGH AND STALLED IN TRAFFIC. VERY DANGEROUS! FOUND OUT FROM NISSAN SERVICE CENTER THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR THAT CAUSES THE COOLANT TO MIX INTO THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON BOTH PARTS TO 80,000 MILES (APPARENTLY NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM). MY NISSAN PATHFINDER STARTED OVERHEATING. WE HAD THE THERMOSTAT CHANGED. NISSAN STILL OVERHEATED SO I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND A FAULTY MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO GET ANTIFREEZE IN IT AND THE RADIATOR TO GET TRANSMISSION FLUID IN IT. NISSAN EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES BECAUSE OF ALL THE CUSTOMERS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THIS, BUT MINE WAS OVER. ALSO THE GAS GAUGE IS FAULTY AND WHEN YOU FILL THE GAS TANK UP THE DIGITAL READOUT WILL NOT WORK AND THE GAS GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY. I'VE RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY GAUGE. *TR

AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, MY ISSUE EXACTLY FITS THE DESCRIPTION OF SCORES OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS FROM PATHFINDER OWNERS OF 2005-07 MODELS WHO HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURERS' DEFECT OF A COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I CALLED THE NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THESE COMPLAINTS AND REGISTER MY OWN, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST I ORDER TO REGISTER THE COMPLAINT FURTHER. I WAS TRANSFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE RESEARCH: IF MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS MILKY REDDISH IN COLOR (WHICH IT IS), THEN RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO TO TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS LIKELY ( FROM THIS SERVICE REP'S EXPERIENCE) THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3500-$8000. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE PREVALENCE OF THIS PROBLEM AT HIS DEALERSHIP, HE WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE BUT BECAUSE OF THE PERCENTAGE OF CARS AFFECTED THAT IS KNOWN IS SMALL IN COMPARISON TO THE NUMBER SOLD IN THOSE YEARS, A RECALL WAS UNLIKELY. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE (107000) MADE IT EVEN MORE UNLIKELY THAT NISSAN WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS. *JS

I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE FORCED BACK TO UP THEIR KNOWN DEFECTS AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS MY TRANSMISSION FAILING DUE TO DESIGN FLAW THAT ALLOWED RADIATOR COOLING FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OR $3,400. THE CAR WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT AND I WAS NOT REIMBURSED BY NISSAN. NISSAN HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THAT THEY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW ISSUE THAT IS COSTING THEIR CAR OWNERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS AS WELL AS RUINING THEIR REPUTATION. *TR

HAVING DONE RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS AND THAT NISSAN CORPORATE IS WELL AWARE OF AND REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON LAST MONTH, WE TOOK IT IN AND NOW THEY TELL US THAT WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN PATHFINDER, FRONTIER AND XTERRA. I BROUGHT THIS TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THIS DIAGNOSED AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT MY INITIAL WORRIES WERE CORRECT. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS INOPERABLE AND NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. MY MECHANIC AT MIDAS OF RICHMOND VA INFORMED ME THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM ALL THE TIME AND THAT NISSAN IS DOING NOTHING. CLEARLY, NISSAN KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND HAS REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS A KNOWN DEFECT ISSUE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ALLOWED TO INSTALL A MAJOR VEHICLE COMPONENT WITH A KNOWN DEFECT AND FOR THE CUSTOMER TO HAVE NO RECOURSE.
VEHICLE JERKS VIOLENTLY AT 50 MPH AND 70MPH. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WHERE VEHICLE HAS LOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER IN FREEWAY. NEAR MISSED ACCIDENTS. VALVE BODY IS FLOODED AND VEHICLE DOES NOT START ANYMORE. *TR
NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS ISSUE (TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR} AND WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE CHECKED BY A NISSAN DEALER. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 250 MILES AWAY TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AT MY OWN EXPENSE, WAIT 2 AND A HALF WEEKS FOR THEM TO TELL ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT USED (NOT NEW} THEY DECIDED THAT THEY CAN NOT COVER IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. SO A USED VEHICLE HAS NO WARRANTY? NOW I HAVE TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT TOWED BACK AT MY EXPENSE ANOTHER $375, THIS IS WRONG ON ALL LEVELS AND SHOULD BE COVERED THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE LIKE THIS. THERE HAS BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE VEHICLE'S LOSING POWER IN TRAFFIC, ON THE HIGHWAYS AND HOW THEY BARELY AVOIDED GETTING INTO MAJOR ACCIDENT'S. I KNOW THAT THE NEW YORK TIMES HAS DONE UP AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS AND I THINK IF WE CAN BAIL OUT THE AUTO INDUSTRY EVEN THOUGH NISSAN DID NOT TAKE A BAIL OUT WE SHOULD MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DEFECTS OR DO WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTS BEFORE SOMEONE MAKES THEM ACCOUNTABLE. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS PATHFINDER, FIRST GM BURNED ME VERY BADLY AND NOW NISSAN. PLEASE PLEASE.... SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. "PLEADING FOR YOUR HELP" THANK YOU *TR
