THERE IS A SUDDEN JUDDERING SHAKE THAT LASTS ABOUT 4 TO 6 SECONDS DRIVING AROUND 25 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SHAKING DURING TURNS AND UPON HILLS THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE DRIVING A STICKSHIFT AND YOU FINALLY FEEL THE GEAR KICK IN AND THE AFTER MAKING IT UPHILL OR STOPPING UPHILL. VEHICLE DRIVES SMOOTH AGAIN. MY GIRLS ARE VERY SCARED WITH THE SHAKING I HAVE LEFT MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP PENDING A FIX/SOLUTION. *JS
VEHICLE HOOD STARTS VIBRATING AT OR ABOVE 50MPH AND EVEN EARLIER IN CROSS WIND. *TR
AT SLOW SPEED DURING A TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED (ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING). IT TAKES A LOT OF FORCE ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN THE CAR WITH THE POWER STEERING OFF. MY WIFE COULD NEVER EXERT THIS MUCH FORCE ON THE WHEEL IF SHE WAS DRIVING WHILE THIS HAPPENED. IN ABOUT A MILE, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL, THEN ANOTHER MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT FAILED AGAIN, AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL AGAIN. *TR
DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 20 - 25 MPH, AND HEARD THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW SLOWLY CRACKING, AND THEN BY THE TIME WE GOT HOME, LIKELY DUE TO THE HEAVY WIND, IT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I'VE NEVER HAD A WINDOW SHATTER FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. IN THE PAST I'VE NOTICED THE WINDOW A LITTLE SLOW TO GO UP OR DOWN, BUT HAD NO IDEA IT WOULD RESULT IN THIS. MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT, BUT THANKFULLY SHE MOVED IMMEDIATELY AS THE CRACKING BEGAN. *TR
MY PATHFINDER WAS RECALLED (14V-138) TO FIX THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND IT WAS "FIXED." WHEN MY WIFE, WHO WEIGHS ABOUT 112 POUNDS, SITS IN THE RIGHT SEAT, THE LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THAT AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF. I CALLED THE DEALER (ABC NISSAN IN PHOENIX) AND THEY SAID THAT THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO TURN THE AIR BAG OFF UNLESS THE OCCUPANT WEIGHS MORE THAT 110 POUNDS. THAT PUTS MY WIFE IN JEOPARDY IN THE EVENT OF A HEAD-ON COLLISION. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO - THE SENSOR CANNOT BE TURNED OFF AND THE WEIGHT LIMIT CANNOT BE CHANGED. WHY SHOULD MY WIFE'S LIFE BE JEOPARDIZED TO PROTECT IDIOTS WHO PUT SMALL CHILDREN IN THE FRONT SEAT? IF THEY WANT TO PUT A LIMIT ON THE WEIGHT, IT SHOULD BE AROUND 50 POUNDS. IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY WIFE IS INJURED, I GUARANTEE THAT I WILL SUE NISSAN AND NHTSA FOR MILLIONS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUTTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HELLO, WE BOUGHT THIS PATHFINDER IN MARCH 2014. I WAS DRIVING AND I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. WHEN I TURNED AND GAVE IT SOME GAS. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THE PATHFINDER STARTED SPUTTERING,SHAKING AND LOOSING POWER. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ON THE 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDERS. MY RESEARCH HAS COME ACROSS THAT THE NISSAN MOTOR COMPANY KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH 2013 PATHFINDERS. AND THEY HAVE YET TO PUT OUT A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH THE SHUDDERING, SHAKING AND LOOKING POWER. ON 5/28/2014 I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AND SLOWED DOWN AND I THOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION FELL OUT. I ALSO LOST POWER. IT SCARED ME. SO I BELIEVE THAT SOME ONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE I THINK NISSAN IS NOT CONCERN. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JULY 2013. IN AUGUST 2013 I BEGAN TO NOTICE A SKIPPING/CHUGGING SENSATION AT A LOW SPEED AND WHICH SEEMED TO ONLY WHEN GOING AROUND CORNERS AT THE TIME. I CALLED THAT AUGUST THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY NISSAN. WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE WHAT I HAD DESCRIBED. THE SKIPPING/CHUGGING SENSATION CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. I AGAIN BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO NISSAN IN DECEMBER FOR THE SAME ISSUES. HOWEVER THE SKIPPING/CHUGGING HAD GOT FAR WORSE, IN OCCURRENCES AND INTENSITY. AT THIS TIME THE TECHNICIAN AT NISSAN WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE SKIPPING/CHUGGING TOLD ME THAT IT WAS "SKIPPING ON ICE". I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT HAD BEEN ONGOING AND THAT I DID NOT BELIEVE THAT SKIPPING ON THE ICE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE LOGGED INTO THE SYSTEM AND THEY WOULD HAVE NOTE OF IT. THE SKIPPING/CHUGGING HAS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE WINTER. THE INTENSITY IS FAR WORSE, AND OCCURS EACH TIME I AM ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE BETWEEN 5-25/30MPH. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED POWER FAILURES WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. THE CAR WILL TURN OFF THEN TURN ON ITS OWN, THEN TAKE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SHUT IT OFF. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO NISSAN ON APRIL 7, 2014. ONCE AGAIN, THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. THIS TIME TELLING ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE IS FAILING. AT THIS POINT I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK IF THEY WILL REPLACE THE PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS FAILING, OR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 60 THRU 75 MPH THE HOOD VIBRATES AND MOVES EXCESSIVELY IN THE AIR STREAM . I INFORMED THE NISSAN DEALER AND NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY DID ADJUST THE HOOD AND ASSURED US IT WAS SAFE BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. SINCE THE ADJUSTMENT I THINK THE MOVEMENT WITH THE WIND MADE IT WORSE. MY CONCERN IS FATIGUE CAUSED FROM THE MOVEMENT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE HOOD TO FLY UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN BLOWING OFF. *TR
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON, EVEN WITH ANOTHER ADULT IN THE SEAT. LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS, AND PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPUTTER AND DECELERATED SPORADICALLY WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
VEHICLE STALLS ON HILLS AND HAS BAD MILEAGE AND HESITATES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED IN DALLAS, TX AND NOW TWICE IN EL PASO, TX. THE LAST INSPECTION WAS A RECALL AND ALL I WAS TOLD WAS IT MAY NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND NOW HESITATES ON HILLS AND IS VERY SLUGGISH. IT STALLS WHILE TAKING OFF ON HILLS. VERY DANGEROUS.... ALL I HAVE RECEIVED IS LIP SERVICE. PLEASE CONTACT ASAP.
THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE I WAS STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT. IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE HAD REAR-ENDED MY CAR. SINCE THERE WAS NOT A CAR BEHIND ME I RULED THAT OUT. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CAR STARTED TO HESITATE AND LURCH. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER AND CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THE BOTTOM LINE WAS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THAT, HOWEVER, DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME KIND OF OCCURRENCES. I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH A LURCHING CAR. DOESN'T NISSAN KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS? *TR
WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AFTER A FULL STOP, OR WHEN PROCEEDING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED, BY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. I HAVE TO LIFT MY FOOT AND REAPPLY PRESSURE TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD. NISSAN HAS CHANGED THE BRAKE SENSOR, HOWEVER, THAT MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS / JUDDERS AT LIGHT ACCELERATION DURING LOW SPEED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON 3/19/2014 WITH ONLY 2450 MILES ON IT. THEIR TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM OF 2013 PATHFINDER BUT NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE A PROPER FIX. HE ALSO SAID THAT I WAS THE THIRD CUSTOMER COMPLAINING THIS PROBLEM ON THAT DAY ALONE. HE REPROGRAMMED THE TCM. HOWEVER, TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING CONTINUES. IT IS GETTING WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADMIT THIS PROBLEM AND RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION! *TR
WHILE TURNING IN TRAFFIC VEHICLE SHUTTERS AND LOSES POWER. ALSO LOSES POWER WHILE MOVING 25-30 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN AFTER IT ONLY HAD APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER. AFTER ABOUT A TWO WEEKS THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND I TOOK IT BACK IN. THEY HAVE NOW HAD MY VEHICLE SINCE 3/31/14 AND IS STILL CURRENTLY AT THE SHOP AS OF 4/25/14. NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER STATED ITS A PROBLEM THAT HE FEELS NISSAN HAS YET TO SORT OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HOPE YOU WILL STEP IN AND MAKE NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN COASTING INTO A TURN THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR AROUND A CORNER AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE. YOU NEED TO PUMP THE PEDAL AND JUST WAIT FOR THE ACCELERATION TO KICK IN. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 5MPH. YOU NEED TO WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR FOR IT TO KICK BACK IN. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN FOR DAYS AND THEN IT WILL HAPPEN 2-3 TIMES IN ONE DAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS ENTERING INTERSECTIONS. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER LAST WEEK AND I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFOR NOT FIX IT. IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE. I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. *JS
THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WILL NOTICEABLY BEGIN TO MOVE UP AND DOWN RAPIDLY AT SPEEDS OVER 60MPH--IF ITS WINDY THE MOVEMENT BECOMES EVEN WORSE. I TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. THAT THE RAPID MOVEMENT DOES NOT REPRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE SO THE CONSUMER WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT IT. I WAS NOT TOLD OR WARNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF IT. NISSAN CORP. HAD ALREADY NOTIFIED THE SERVICE DEPT. OF THE DEALERSHIPS THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT COULD NOT BE CORRECTED IN BOTH THE 2013/2014 PATHFINDERS. I HOPE THE HOOD CATCH AND MOUNTS CAN HOLD UP TO THE CONSTANT VIBRATION AND MOVEMENT. IT IS ALSO AN UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION AND UNNERVING TO THE DRIVER WHEN IT IS DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
IN MAY 2014, THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL(14V-138) FOR THE OCS SYSTEM THAT "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE OCS SOFTWARE MAY INCORRECTLY CLASSIFY THE PASSENGER SEAT AS EMPTY WHEN IT IS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT." AS A RESULT OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE, THE POSSIBILITY OF FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY INCREASES THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE PASSENGER. MY NISSAN PATHFINDER, PURCHASED JUNE 2013 AT AIRPORT NISSAN IN CLEVELAND, OH, WAS SERVICED FOR THIS RECALL IN JUNE 2014; HOWEVER, THE SAFETY ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED BY THE SOFTWARE REPROGRAMMING AND THIS ISSUE CONTINUES IN MY VEHICLE TO THIS DAY. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 9 TIMES RELATED TO THIS ISSUE AS THIS SAFETY CONCERN WAS REPORTED BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, FIRST REPORTED FEBRUARY 2014. THE AIRPORT NISSAN SERVICE DEPT HAS REPLACED THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT, REPLACED THE SEAT FRAME, REPLACED BOTH SENSORS, ENSURED PROPER TORQUEING AND COMPLETED ZERO POINT CALIBRATIONS PER THE SERVICE WRITE UPS AND DIRECTION OF NISSAN CORPORATE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND NISSAN REGIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTER, BILL MCRAY WAS SENT TO TEST MY VEHICLE. THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED DURING TESTING AND NO CODES SHOWED ON THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, I HAVE VIDEO OF THE LIGHT ON WHILE A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT FROM EARLY 2014 UP TO JULY 2, 1015. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT RULED THAT THEY WERE NOT IN A POSITION TO BUY BACK MY CAR AND BECAUSE MY CAR IS STILL IN WARRANTY, THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE IN PURCHASING A NEW PATHFINDER; EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NOT OFFERED ANY OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO FIX THE SAFETY CONCERN. A CERTIFIED LETTER WAS SENT JUNE 17, 2015, REQUESTING ASSISTANCE, TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA - MR. FRED DIAZ, SR. VP SALES & MARKETING AND OPERATIONS, AND MR. JOSE MUNOZ, EXECUTIVE VP, WITH AN EMAIL COPY ALSO SENT. A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL TO THE EXECUTIVE LINE WAS MADE JUNE 30, 2015 WITH STILL NO RESPONSE RECEIVED.
IT WAS TIME FOR A OIL CHANGE AND I WAS WONDERING WHY WAS IT WHEN YOU PULL OFF THE CAR STUTTERS COME TO FIND OUT IT NEEDED A TRANSMISSION AND WHEN THE GUY TOLD ME HE EVEN SAID THEY HAVE HAD LOTS OF THEM LIKE THAT SO WHY WOULD YOU KEEP SELLING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS FRACTURED AND DROOPED, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE VISORS BE REPLACED. THE VISORS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER ONE YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

FYI...THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE ENGINE WILL JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. MANY TIMES BEFORE THIS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SHUDDERING THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT WHEN THE CAR BEGINS TO LOSE POWER WITHOUT WARNING IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY BLESSED THAT EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS TO RESTART THE CAR. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE DEALT WITH THE ISSUES AND BOTH HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THEY KNOW TO DO. THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED AND THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED ALSO. WE PURCHASED THE CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 22000 MILES SO THE LEMON LAW DOES NOT APPLY TO US. FOR THE 7 MONTHS THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR, IT HAS BEEN AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HALF OF THE TIME. IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING THAT WE PURCHASED A "LIKE NEW" CAR AND NOW MY FAMILY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT. *TR

WE BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER 2013 IN JUNE 2013 - WE LOVE THE CAR BUT WE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS. WE REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER DURING A VISIT TO REPLACE A WARRANTY ISSUE, THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE IT ONCE. LATER ON WHEN WE NOTICED IT AGAIN, WE TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THIS TIME IT WAS AT THE DEALER FOR 8 DAYS. WE EXPERIENCE HESITATION, SLIGHT JERKING WITH THE CAR WHEN DRIVING ON SLOW SPEED. WELL, A WEEK AFTER WE TOOK IT BACK FROM THE DEALER WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME WE EXPERIENCED THIS VIOLENT JERKING AND HESITATION, THE CAR LOSES POWER, PICKS UP, LOSES POWER AND SO ON FOR A STRETCH OF 40-50 FEET ON THE ROAD OR FOR AROUND 4-5 SECOND OF DRIVING. MYSELF, MY HUSBAND AND TWO KIDS WERE SHOCKED WHEN WE FELT THE CAR JERKING AND HOW NOTICEABLE IT WAS! IT'S NOT SOMETHING I EXPERIENCE EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, BUT THIS IS NOT A SAFE DRIVE. THE DEALER SEEMS TO KNOW THE PROBLEM EXISTS, BUT INSISTS ON A COMPUTER READING WHILE THE CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE AND STATES THAT IF THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON FROM THE COMPUTER OR NO ALERTS FROM THE SENSORS THEN THE CAR IS FUNCTIONING FINE. HONESTLY, I'M NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYMORE. WHAT IF THIS PROBLEM HAS NO SENSOR TO MONITOR IT? THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ "0" MILES REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED, AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING THE 4TH DAY. I WOULD BE DRIVING ALONG AT ANYWHERE FROM 30-55 MPH WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER FOR REPAIR, WHO REFUSED TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP AND CHECK IT OUT, SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO SAID THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE DEFECTS IN THE SHOP. I TOOK IT BACK MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUES AND THEY ENDED UP PUTTING MORE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE THAN I DID IN THE FIRST 3 WEEKS WITH CONTINUOUS "INABILITY TO REPRODUCE RESULTS," HOWEVER, AS SOON AS I WOULD LEAVE THE SHOP TO GO HOME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP AND THE CAR WOULD DECELERATE ALMOST TO A STOP AND THEN LUNGE AGAIN WHEN IT WOULD KICK BACK IN. THE FUEL GUAGE CONTINUED TO READ ZERO AT FILL UPS, VERY FRUSTRATING. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WITH NO REAL PROGRESS. I NOW HAVE HAD AN AUTO ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE OF MY BRAND NEW PATHFINDER AND NISSAN NOT EVEN ATTEMPTING TO TRY TO TAKE ME SERIOUSLY ABOUT MY CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS FOR 4-5 SECONDS. I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN MORE OFTEN WHEN I SLOW DOWN ON THE PARKING LOTS OR ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE ACTS AS IF THE IT IS HAVING ISSUE SHIFTING DOWN AND JUST SHAKES/SHUDDERS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT STILL THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT FROM NISSAN AND THEY KNEW WHAT TO FIX AND THEY CLAIMED THEY FIXED IT BUT THE ISSUE RESURFACED AFTER FEW HOURS. THE COOLANT LINE TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION CAN DETACH AND DRAIN WITHOUT WARNING DISABLING MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE IF NOT DOUBLE CLAMPED. THIS HAPPENED TO OUR VEHICLE WHILE EATING AT A RESTAURANT BUT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWHERE. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD PARTICULARLY IN AREAS WITH EXTREME COLD CONDITIONS SUCH AS NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NY WHERE WE LIVE. THE DRIVER HAS TO RELEASE AND PRESS THE GAS PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES OR HOLD DOWN GAS PEDAL AND THEN THE ENGINE REVS HARD AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHES FORWARD. IT HAPPENS BOTH WHEN BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AS WELL AS WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING AND IN MOTION AND THE DRIVER PRESSES THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE (SUCH AS WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR ON THE HIGHWAY). BY EARLY APRIL 2014, THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN A FOUR-WEEK PERIOD AND SOMETIMES HAPPENED DAILY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALER, WHO CONSULTED WITH A REGIONAL NISSAN WARRANTY REP. HE SAID HE HAD SEEN THE PROBLEM BEFORE, AND THEY REPLACED THE THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH AND RELAY. I HAVE HAD ONE INCIDENT WHERE IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THIS WORK WAS DONE ON APRIL 9. *TR

THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THE MORE IT VIBRATES, AND IT IS MUCH WORSE IF IT IS WINDY; IT SEEMS AS THE HOOD WAS NOT CLOSE PROPERLY -ALTHOUGH IT IS- AND IS ABOUT TO POP OPEN. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE HOOD, AND SIMPLY ADJUSTED SOME KNOBS UNDER IT, BUT THIS MADE NO DIFFERENCE. *TR
GOING UPHILLS OR ACCELERATING, THE CAR BEGINS TO ACCELERATE THEN BECOMES JERKY AND LOSES POWER BEFORE RESUMING ACCELERATION. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASED BUT HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. ALSO, RECENTLY HAVE NOTICED FLUID LEAKS OCCASIONALLY.
TRIED TO PULL UP MY INCLINED DRIVEWAY, COULD NOT DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL RIGHT AWAY. EVEN IT FINALLY GAVE, AND I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND HIT THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IT STILL DOES IT TO DATE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM MERCER NISSAN IN LUFKIN, TEXAS ON DECEMBER 21, 2013 AND I AM GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM ALSO. I NOTICED THAT OCCASIONALLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND MY WIFE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT THE "FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT" WAS INDICATING "OFF." THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WITH OTHER PASSENGERS AS WELL. SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING I DROVE TO THE NEARBY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND PULLED INTO THE SERVICE BAY. A FEW SECONDS AFTER I CAME TO A STOP AND BEFORE A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE COULD COME OVER THE LIGHT WENT OFF. I RETURNED THE PATHFINDER SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR INCLUDING THE RECALL. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD A DEALER TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (DTS) LOOK AT THE CAR. THE DTS SAID THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THE SENSORS DETERMINE IF THERE IS A CHILD IN THE SEAT AND "CLASSIFIES" THIS TO THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. THERE ARE 3 CONDITIONS THAT CAN BE "CLASSIFIED" - EMPTY, CHILD, AND ADULT. WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER IS MOVED FROM PARK THE STATUS ("CLASSIFICATION") AT THAT INSTANT IS RETAINED. SUBSEQUENTLY IF THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP (REGARDLESS OF GEAR SELECTION) FOR SEVERAL SECONDS THEN THIS "CLASSIFICATION" IS REPEATED. THE DTS AND THE SERVICE MANAGER WERE ABLE TO "MANIPULATE" THE CAR TO LEAVE THE AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT DISPLAYING OFF BY PUTTING A PARTIAL LOAD IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THEN MOVING THE GEAR SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND SUBSEQUENTLY TO DRIVE. THE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUE TO DISPLAY OFF UNTIL THEY LET THE CAR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THEY CONCLUDED THAT THIS "MANIPULATION" WAS WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN MY WIFE AND OTHER PASSENGERS WERE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE ALGORITHM OF THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. IT IS RELATED TO THE CHANGES MADE BY THE RECALL BUT NOT THE SPECIFIC SITUATION. THE DTS THEN SAID THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND COULDN'T BE REPAIRED.
